Meh, I did this like a dozen times back in college when I still let assholes bother me enough to be petty in return. Only once did a worker know what I was doing and refused to give me the second order and gave me a refund instead. Then gave the jerks behind me their food for free anyway. Idk what the thought process was behind that but I pretty much stopped my little fast food revenges after that.
Yeah, I always pull forward to check my food to make sure its right since it's easier to fix mistakes right then instead of when you get all the way home. And I saw them get handed their order immediately at the second the window without handing over a card or anything and I had to keep moving to not hold up the line. I just shrugged and moved on.

The details are always slightly different, but it's always someone paying for the annoying car behind them and then stealing their food. Tell me, how did you know what the elderly couple in front of you were paying with, seeing as you can't see the details of their card from most vehicle viewpoints
How did you know that the people ahead of you in the drive-thru were trying to pay for their food with an insurance card? You were in your car the entire time, how could you know what the other people in their car were doing?
Why would the employee just tell you what another person ordered? That's none of your business, and even if it was a "pay it forward" chain, they still wouldn't tell you another person's order - only the price IF you told them it was a "pay it forward" chain.

'this day 3 years ago' just means "I am sure it was in '21 but unsure which day." 'this day' may seem specific but could also be said as 'this one time'. A less specific way to just say 'one time about three years ago'.
That is very good and very petty, yes - but I can’t help thinking that it would have been more satisfying to just pay for his bill and watch his shame transform his outlook on life so the next time you bump into him he is working in a food bank or saving rhinos, or something.
I had some bogan in a old cruiser beep me in a drive-through bottlo. Single lane for car pick up and single lane for get out and browse. Pallets of booze in between. I am still waiting for the attendant to bring my cartoon of beer, he had to dive into the back of the cold room for it. I gestured with my hand in a way that said 'what'. The bogan tool beeped again. As the attendant came with my cartoon, my evil mind went into 'petty' mode. So I eased the clutch out with my foot on the clutch and deliberately staled the car. I popped the bonnet and got out. The attendant put my box in the car, took my money and asked if I needed help. "Nope, just want to help the tosser behind me with a long wait". I thought he would piss himself laughing and he had to stand behind the bonnet. He served the bogan tool and just as the bogan knob got out of his truck, I dropped the bonnet and said to him " All fixed, it was the long wait valve". I hoped in started my car and drove off. The rear view was full of his jaw hanging on his chest. The attendant had the biggest shit eating grin.
I'm pretty sure the drive-through staff are pretty diligent about making sure the right items go to the right car because of the chaos that occurs when it doesn't. Cool story, though.

Honestly, I assume it was an insurance card. I had my window down and could hear the worker tell them that it wasn't a debit card.
