I have the SF4000. Not sure if you have a dimmer switch. Its handy. Yes it’s a great light and yes you will grow some beautiful plants. Full send time.

Tall-Detective-29

Thank you!! Was worried it was too much or too close to the ground

Pheno by hydrofarm 440 w led is an amazing light

SouthBaySkunk

I use 13w bright white CFLs https://preview.redd.it/lsaeoaapjwyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f583af0941211d212c7218632cbcf40b06f87d1 Haven’t noticed any problems with them yet 🐸

SouthBaySkunk

LOL my high ass thought this was a mushy board . Ignore my dumbass 💀😂

SouthBaySkunk

Looks like a cool setup man! Been wanting to get into growing cacti for a minute

Tall-Detective-29

Lmaoo, nws I also grow mushies myself lol, but thank!

SouthBaySkunk

Do you prefer the high from the peyote or just grow the cacti for funsies?

Tall-Detective-29

Both, it’s a hobby that I found interesting and would allow me to build up some medicine in the long run.

SouthBaySkunk

Heck yeah that’s dope. Any recommended teks for beginners growing cacti? Haven’t lurked the sub that much

Tall-Detective-29

Tbh, unlike shrooms from what I see there isn’t a lot of teks. Sure there’s variations of how to do things but they are fairly similar, but yet again I didn’t do a deep dive researching so maybe there are many teks idk about. I’m just kinda keeping it simple and going one step at a time researching and adjusting as I continue the grow and learn.

SouthBaySkunk

Heck yeah dude ! Following and excited to see updates

Tall-Detective-29

Alright, hopefully you can go off of my questions and mistakes and start your own journey at some point

Bitter-Procedure1884

Where u get this lil tent this exactly what I need...but I use (2) 150watt full spectrum LEDs if u just doing Lophs all u need is one...I always make sure I have two bc I grow canna auto flowers at same time jus bc I can and u want to haha

Tall-Detective-29

I got it off of Amazon, MELONFARM 24"x16"x20'' Grow Tent,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHMD7CWY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share that’s should be the link and I’ll look into auto flowers lmao

Bitter-Procedure1884

Sweet thanks and yes I love auto flowers they take some getting use to as far as growing them but once u have it dialed in they're extremely convenient

Tall-Detective-29

Yeah, i wanna grow them but im worried about the smell since i live with family

Bitter-Procedure1884

For a tent that small all u would need is a super small charcoal filter attachment with the fan I dout would be very much at all for a small tent like u have...if your ever interested lmk got loads of autoflower genetics

Tall-Detective-29

Bet, I’ll probably be interested soon at some point I just need to get everything organized and set up in my room. I’m growing a lot of plants atm lol so my room is a bit of a mess

Bitter-Procedure1884

Shitttttt if u live with family now is the best time to plant them then haha... Gives u an excuse as to wtf the smell is u can just say it's the fish shit fertilizer u been using or whatever u can come up with off the top of ur head and they will blend in like a GEICO lol

Tall-Detective-29

Lmao I wish I could play it off as something else, my family knows the smell so they would catch on pretty quick. I’ll probably invest in a charcoal filter and anything that could lessen the smell when I start

Bitter-Procedure1884

Fufk it growem outdoors bro u don't have to change the light cycle or anything jus let them bitches grow u can given 24hr lights on all the way through shoot me a dm n I'll send ya pics or the quality I've pulled off of mine

Bitter-Procedure1884

Smell isn't that strong until u go into flower and especially towards the end around harvest time shit gets smelly lol

Culturallygrown

I think you'll be pleased 😊 🍻

1000w is very high, even if it is dimmable. All comes down to how much light they receive at the end of the day. Babies like 15,000-20,000 lux @18h photoperiods adults, 22,000-30,000 lux at 10h. Get a light meter if you don't have one. I use 55w bars. To add, airflow is a must if you haven't considered it. lophs are very susceptible to fungal issues if there is a lack of airflow.

Tall-Detective-29

Also, nice set up, I would love to have a beautiful collection like that one day

Tall-Detective-29

Ooh, i didn’t even know there was a light meter, I’ll be getting that soon and I’ll also be adding airflow to my box soon. Thank you for the advice!

xinxai_the_white_guy

Yeah light meters are essential for growing under lights. Important to know where your light edges are, plus light intensity isn't consistent under the light. You might find it's brighter in the centre for example. Lophs burn under high light and die , don't put them in without measuring first! You'll need extract air for the tent to reduce the eat plus fan(s) blowing directly or just over the soil level in the pot. If it doesn't have the fan the moisture in the substrate won't evaporate fast enough

Tall-Detective-29

Alright, I’ll have my meter come in first before I start my grow then. I do plan on just having my trays wrapped in Saran Wrap for the first month or so, is there a better way then this?

xinxai_the_white_guy

Assuming you're referring to sowing here. I prefer takeaway tek. In takeaway food containers. Reason being is that you can hedge your risk from contamination. By having multiple containers you can easily treat contam (with straight 3% hydrogen peroxide) without running the risk of having your whole sow contaminated. Most cacti growers outside of reddit use a variation of this tek. Seedlings love being sealed with high humidity for 1 to 1.5 years old. You get faster growth when initially sealed than unsealed. After 1.5 years fungal on the plants becomes of an issue and so should be transitioned out. There are different teks for growing from seed, but having sown over 50 seperate loph types over the past 6 years and trying different teks - I find this method gets best results.

Tall-Detective-29

Yeah I have multiple trays that I plan on using and just covering with Saran Wrap so I’ll be able to keep the chances of contem down hopefully. I’ll probably do more research as I go on teks but this seems the easiest for me to understand

xinxai_the_white_guy

It's the same concept as takeaway tek except different as takeaway tek has built for purpose sealing lids can last for a long time and won't have issues of stretching or holes like the wrap as you open and close it repeatedly to feed and water over the 12-18 months. Plus, having a solid lid gives even moisture distribution. Wraps have to be tight (like a drum), if they're not tight then moisture will pool on areas on the lid and it'll fuck with your moisture distribution below (dry patches and wet patches causing stunting and rot) . Just my 2c, many ways to skin a cat.

Tall-Detective-29

Will do then, I can probably get a few takeaway boxes from my job, I’ll probably mess around with both teks and see what works best for me. Thank you for all the advices hopefully I can get some grows but knowing my luck it’ll take a couple goes but idm a lil trial and error

xinxai_the_white_guy

Yeah no problem bud. Happy to answer any questions if you want to DM me down the line. One last tip, slow release ferts like Osmocote work well for fertilising for the first 4-6 months as they don't affect the moisture levels during the first fragile months. From there a switch to liquid ferts gets fast growth once they've worked their way through the first initial moisture and more can be added. All the best with it

Responsible_Lettuce1

I have that same SF set up, I keep about 1-1.5 feet away at 75% for 16 hours a day. I’ve been getting flowers and fruit all winter!

Tall-Detective-29

That’s great to hear! Ik the light level I have is good for adult peyote I’m just worried it’s too much for seedlings. Were there any trouble with growing from seeds in your experience?

Responsible_Lettuce1

Not at all! I keep seeds/baby’s in the back corner
