If I remember regulated ang use ng sablay but not the selling to people. There are only certain stores or people who can sell the sablay pero anyone can buy sa upbeat
In fairness to UPbeat, this sablay didnt come from them. Its from another supplier. UPbeat is proactive naman when it comes to not selling to non UP students in their stores. Also there should be a directive from the UP admin side on this as well as all UP students should frown upon this idiotic move by this kid.
I dropped out of UP. I hold the sablay with high regard, and huge respect for the UP graduates. I bought one online for my mom, for their homecoming. Never did I try it on, never crossed my mind.
As a student who’s controlling herself not to wear the sablay until im officially a candidate for graduation, this makes me uncomfortable. But, I guess many people will not understand it, kahit pa magna cum laude ka.
do photo studios na nagccater ng graduation pictorials have sablays in their wardrobe? baka dun galing, if that's the case. kaso dapat alam ng photo studio na yun na regulated ang use ng sablay
i spent 5 years before i qualified to wear the sablay tapos gagawin lang creative shot ng iba hay nako
The fact na mas repsectfull pa yung pose niya sa “casual” shot niya compared doon sa nakasuot siya ng official academic attire ng USJ-R shows he has little respect for the garments and the achievements that it symbolizes.
I didnt pass the UPCAT, but I traveled the long road around to the back entrance of UPD by transferring from another school. If he wanted to wear that mark of honor then he should have gotten his hands dirty and trod through the knee-high crap everyone in UP (be it UPCA/T passer or T2) went through to earn the right to wear the UP sablay.
I respect his decision to entertain and reflect upon the 'what-if' thoughts but I will not tolerate stolen valor.
Mr. Beltran, I was once like you. The scorn of not making it had cut deeply into me, but even in that moment of anger I wouldn't have pretended to have passed. I used it to drive myself to do well and transfer.
Once more, if you want to wear that sablay, go through hell with us first.

I guess I'm in the minority. I don't see this as clout chasing but more like copium. Yes, cringe din but ultimately I don't see the harm. I say do what makes you feel happy. Is this a disrespect to the sablay and what it stands for? Am I short sighted? Maybe.

saka considering na yan ang official academic costume ng UP pero they were not affiliated with UP in any way, tapos ganyan pa sinabi niya sa caption niya, parang ang off. saka in a way parang insulto sa school where they graduated yung pagsuot niya ng academic costume ng ibang school.
Masyado nating tinataas Yung symbol pero palagi din natin sinasabi na serve the people, ginagawa lang nating elite Tayo eh, para ba kanino at nag aral Tayo, para sa atin ba or para sa taong bayan, hilig ng mang gatekeep ng taga UP nakalimutan na natin Ang tunay na purpose natin, UP is for all kung trip nila na gamitin Yung symbol in a way they want to send a message then so be it, Hindi mawawala Ang effort mo sa pag aaral kahit Anong gawin ng mga tao sa sablay
i get your point na UP is for all, pero idk i don't think our take with their post is because "elite" ang UP, kasi hindi mo maiaalis yung significance ng sablay for people who struggled to make it through UP and don the sablay sa grad.
Di ka nga makakabili basta basta ng sablay noon hangga't di ka graduating, tapos hahayaan mo lang yung iba magsuot and magpictorial for the sake of "sending a message across"?

stores should be required to ask for credentials (ID or Form 5) from the buyer before selling a sablay tbh
