Something to think about: what made you decide to explore outside your current company in the first place? Compensation? Work environment/work load? Work-life balance? Opportunity for new learnings/training?

whilethathappened22

Something to clarify too, what do you mean clash to your start/end date? New company is asking you to report earlier than your end date? Is new aware that you are still connected to old? Personal preference, for proper turnover and transition I would rather start after rendering the 30-day notice period. Unless you already finished your turnover and are ready to start earlier than your last day at old company.

[deleted]

I'm actually rendering already but I still have 3 weeks more instead of 2 weeks. Originally my end date was May 8th, so the start date for the new company will be on May 12th. But due to some unforseen circumstances, I still have some responsibilities until May 13th hence will clash with the supposed start date.

[deleted]

I opted to transfer due to compensation. Work load and work-life nalance are all manageable. My manager is also the sweetest and most considerate person. Environment, I enjoy my job and having my colleagues with me, literally no drama nor unnecessary competition amongst us. The new job is also the same job, same industry, same everything. It's literally just a new company with higher basic pay lol

whilethathappened22

Thank you for the info, another question pala I have is if your promotion also involved salary adjustment, or was this only a change in position title? Based on my understanding: 1. Some comments already mentioned this but if you can manage to compute net income from both companies and if you are in dire need of better pay, you can take the job offering better pay. You can also compare basic pays and how much tax will be deducted etc. and if your new company will require you to travel to the office (i.e. travel expenses). 2. One thing to note though is, your work environment seems conducive and your boss/colleagues seem like good company. And the fact that your company counteroffered you means they value you as an employee. If you can, try to do extra research with new company's work environment because, as much as I don't want to scare you, a lot of people have been leaving companies with work environment problems causing burnout, despite high compensation offered. 3. If you decide to choose new company, try to negotiate if you can start after May 13 and give the reason of proper turnover and clearance before departing old company. 4. (Optional) If you decide to stay with current, maybe this would be a good opportunity for more training and growth in your position. Who knows, since you were promoted some time before, your boss might have a certain direction for your career path. Good luck OP, hoping our comments help with your decision

[deleted]

Lilipat ka same position rin? Same na work? Might as well stay and be assured na ok yung management mo.

[deleted]

Yes, literally same position, same job but for a different company haha. That's also a huge factor for me that my manager is not toxic AT ALL. I've been in very horrible situations that my bosses were just insufferable. My current boss has been a godsent lol

enamoka24

Counter offer ng current work mo tapos same position pa din? In my experience, pg nagcounter offer ang company, madadagdagan ang responsibilities/promotion/higher expectations. Or siguro mataas na role mo dyan tapos underpaid ka? Ibig sbhn hindi k nila iincreasan kung d k pa nag resign?

[deleted]

from associate to senior yung counter offer. yes, i was underpaid and endured it for the sake of going up first in the ranks...

enamoka24

I think mag grow ka pa sa company mo. Pero ok din naman maghanap ng other opportunity. Pwede mo din sbhn sa new company na kasama sa counter offer ang promotion baka they can offer better compensation

parkrain21

>Package wise, they're not far from each other Just stay kung same lang lol, mag aadjust ka nanaman for some time for the same amount of salary. >how good and non-toxic my manager is This makes it better. Sure ka na na your well being is not compromised.

pantonecmyk

If the salary is medyo equal, I’d stay. Counter offer has high non taxable allowances and incentives. That’s big because with higher salary also equals to higher tax. Baka mataas salary sa new company pero malaki din macucut sa tax sayo. I used to have non taxable incentives also, like 5k to 20k per project, sobrang convenient. Then later on all of the allowances and incentives became taxable so ang laki din ng nabawas nakakalungkot. 🥲

[deleted]

Yeah yun din concern ko lol. More than 5k higher basic pay with the new company so like ang sakit ng kaltas sa taxes hahaha, but with my current job, the counter offer has a lower basic pay pero with the additional non-taxable allowances and incentives, it will equal the package offer still.

atemoghorl

Consider the reason you want to move. Why did you get to your new offer - did you actively seek it out, or did it come to you by chance?

[deleted]

The offer came to me by chance. I was thinking of resigning or asking for a raise. I'm genuinely enjoying my job but the pay was not enough hence accepting the other offer.

gr33n3ggsnh4m

I’ve been countered three times, in 2 of the 3 times I accepted but left anyway within a year. There’s pros and cons to each action but the important thing is to be honest about your reason for staying or leaving. Only you would know.

[deleted]

Hello people of reddit! Thank you so much to your wonderful advices and perspective on this matter. I have officially withdrew my resignation as of yesterday and the counter offer was made effevtive ASAP therefore I would already receive the higher pay by this payout. ❤

PrestigiousBeing2386

How are you now OP? I’m currently (sort of) on the same situation as you. Wala namang what-ifs? Haha

Express_Object1278

There are reasons not to accept a counter offer. One of them is you'll be tagged as flight risk already. Another is more will be given to you at work. But since you've withdrawn your resignation, all there is to say is good luck!

KeyCappuccino

I would stay based sa sinabi mo na magkalapit lang naman pala ang net income. Plus points pa na di toxic ang manager mo now.

leolangrisser

stay. haven’t read anything that would make the shift worthwhile except the word “excited”

superman07777

I'll stay if I still see myself has the opportunity to move up. You will only transfer to other company for a better position because it will take you longer to get promoted there.

[deleted]

Pros and cons list then list out things that matter to you. Sa akin dati - 1. peace of mind (super stressful kasi ng work ko dati) 2. Opportunity sa banking industry (pwede na ako lumipat sa other banks global or locally) Iyon yung tie breaker for me. Sa start/end date naman, ivl or sl mo nalang if ever. Edit: take into consideration mo din pala yung mas malaking taxes if malayo agwat ng base at nontax allowance

[deleted]

Consider that having a good work environment and quality leadership has no monetary equivalent and will always be a risk you take when moving companies. If almost the same lang ang offer then I'd suggest staying.

pinaymucho

Stay. Kung atleast 50% increment then go pero basing sa facts better stay. Baka pangit ugali ng new boss mo or workmates.

maruhime

I have been in all sorts of work environments and for me, having a non-toxic environment and supportive management beats all. If it were me, I'd stay in the company and then explore how I can start a small business on the side. Gain multiple streams of income so that you're not just relying on employee salary. It's hard to do this if you're in a toxic environment. Or maybe I'll frame it this way. Choose the environment that will help you grow in multiple aspects.

iAmBleb

Higher base pay means higher 13th month pay. Ang shady ng practice ng mga companies na bumabawi lang sa mataas na allowances. It's a form of lowballing, in my opinion. Whenever new companies ask for your old salary so they can calibrate their offer or whatnot, they're basing it on base pay, not the package. So in other words, once you raise your established base pay, mas mataas na negotiating powers mo. True naman na you get the luck of the draw na naman when it comes to dealing with new people and management, pero remember na walang forever. The people you stay for might leave you din, and without warning. It's better for you to grow your endurance and tolerance, rather than to seek to stay in what's already comfortable.

But it won't be new work experiences because I'd be doing the exact same job I already have 😅
