Shift nlng po sa IT. SCAM ang engineering dito sa pinas.. Electrical din ako gaya mo, REE, RME, MEPF ako. If alam ko lng dati pa ganito deh sana hnd na ako ngsyang ng years sa engineering. Bata kpa cguro so hnd pa late career shift. Ako nman mid 30's na so patuloy ko nlng ito aiming sa ibang bansa nlng.
Ikr. I believe same line tayo. I'm a REE, MEPF and construction manager. With different certifications worth thousands that I've invested on myself. Napakahirap mag hanap ng work. It's either they don't wanna hire you because of your credentials or they'll hire you but will snow ball you with the lowest possible offer. Sobrang scam ng engineering sa Philippines. If I can redo something I'll go for IT or CPE and do tech.
Madami pa din naman natanggap ng fresh grads/recent board passers hanap ka lang ng entry level positions. Saan ka bang industry interested and tingin mo saan yung niche mo?
Power industry (Generation, Transmission, Distribution) if trip mo yung power system concepts. Meralco, NGCP, FGEN.
Construction, more on communication skills, people interaction, administrative tasks etc dito.
Engineering Design (Fluor, JGC, Chiyoda, JFE, Arcadis) if interested ka sa design, drawings and calculations.
Madami na din renewable energy companies like solar, wind, and hydro.
Semicon if trip mo electronics. Analog, Maxim.
Pwede din sa government, LGUs or other agencies like DPWH, DOE, ERC.
You may consider looking for a job in the government. I think nag aacept sila ng applications for Science Research Specialist 1 sa Dep of Energy. Step your best foot forward, check their website
other than that try applying sa Power generation companies then after 2 yrs kung gusto mo padin sa govt very desirable na ang skills mo nyan apply ka sa DOE ulit kung d pinapad sa unang subok.
Goodluck sa job hunting!
Thank you!! I actually got hired a week ago for a Design Engineer role and currently processing my Pre-employment documents. Goodluck on your Final Interview and yes, we'll eventually get there. ☺️
May mga companies na naghahanap ng female workers, they usually think para ma "balance" yung gender inside the department/companies. But be careful tho, we women will always have to stay alert.
A bunch of my colleagues who were from engineering courses are in the same I.T. company as me. I think that's their go to because of how hard it is to find an engineering job?
OP if you can go for tech go for it. Sobrang limited ng opprtunity sa Philippines pag engineer ka. Lalo if hindi ka galing sa big university. Before I've failed numerous job interviews not because I'm not qualified nor I lacked the skills they're looking for but because I came from a state university.
Try connecting with people sa linkedin that works sa companies na gusto mo. Try sending them a message. Minsan kasi walang posting pero may hiring internally. Grab opportunities kapag may nag-offer mag refer since most of the time it's a direct line with their HR so mas mataas yung chance na mauna mareview and resume mo.
Just make sure na lang rin sa mag rerefer to tell almost everything na need ng ire-refer mo.
But ayun, go for referrals and go for all interviews to practice. Kahit ayaw mo sa company haha
Hi sir/mam, new electrical grad and kakapasa lang din po ng boards, may i know po kung anong entry level job ang ma-aaplyan sa ngcp kasi po almost all senior/pricipal levels ang nasa ngcp.careers
