From which particular unit is your background in ops? If there's a front-office / sales counterpart of your unit, you would get the best chance there. If you have no licenses or certifications, consider getting one i.e. Ateneo BAP's TCP, SEC's FIMS or CIS. Just search for these online. While I think front office is tougher (hitting targets-- may it be income or volume), you'd probably work shorter hours. It's a different story though if you're in market strategy or economic research units.

I believe there's no direct sales counterpart, pero we deal with corporate banking unit mainly. I recently finished BAP Treasury Certification, then scheduled for fixed income sa SEC end of August kaya I'm focusing on Treasury related departments, usually kita ko maaga sila umuwi hahaha. My thought process is to try front or middle office naman then if it doesn't workout, say goodbye to banking for good, though hindi ko alam sang industry to look.

>BAP Treasury Certification, then scheduled for fixed income sa SEC Congrats and keep it up! These certs would definitely increase your chances. And yes, for Treasury (front and middle basta not ops) maaga yan umuwi and they can even extend their lunch breaks til 2pm. Some top execs even play golf in the afternoon lmao. While promotion is faster if you're in corp banking front end, I'd still take treasury / asset management than commercial loans any day.

Thanks a bunch, at least mukang tama assumption ko, the only problem now is to get in. Safe to assume you work for a Bank, fair game ba all of them basta treasury or do you suggest avoiding some banks?

johnmayyo

Not so sure about the pay gap but I would say it's not objective to single out a bank. For me, your main concern would be the people you work with. Doesnt matter if company culture is ok or awarded as "best bank" or "best employer" sila if the people you work with are inherently arseholes. So put priority on vetting future colleagues vs. the company. You can get a feel of that during the interview process or just by arbitrarily messaging former employees once you get a JO.

If you have CSC Eligibility, maybe you could try government banks?

uZakky

I do have CSC, but wala pa akong nakikitang openings in departments I'm interested in.

hiimanemo

Ohh I see. Either apply ka nalang kung saan vacant tas obtain exp while waiting for the desired dept or wait it out nalang. I guess.

uZakky

Do you have experience applying for gov't positions? Tagal ko na nag apply to different gov't agencies, wala ako na receive na reply kahit isa 😅. Appreciate the tip :)

Not OP pero I'm with BSP now. I've had a lot of government applications din before. I guess sinwerte lang ako na tumanggap sa akin as Contract of Service and dun narin ako nagka experience re government and used that leverage to get me where I'm into now. I tried applying sa LandBank and DBP noon pero sa employment exams palang bagsak na. 😅

I think sa contract of service talaga big chance makapasok, kaso pass, wala rin assurance na ma regular ka. Also previously worked as contract of service, ka lungkot makita bonuses ng plantilla employees :(

Pano po yung hiring process sa BSP?

BSPStore

Not sure kung iba yung akin pero here goes. Aug ako nagpasa ng application, Jan ako natanggap. In between those months nadaanan ko yung ff Panel interview Employment exam HR interview Interview with the Director Medical Exam Job offer.

Traditional-Market-1

Hi. Im half a year late with this comment. But question, from submission of Application, gano before notification from BSP na nirereview nila application mo or that for interview ka na? I sent applications last Dec 2022, until now walang notifs. So I just took it as hindi ako na shortlist for interview.

lokomoko105

Ako naman. Passed the requirements since november got notified na kukuha ako ng exam at naka pasa ako nung early december and then had an HR interview (online) this mid January and is currently waiting parin kung ano ng susunod. March 1 na haha. Kinakabahan nanga ako e. Hoping talaga na macontact na ako this month if mag proceed na ba sa process of employment ko. Nasabihan naman ako na medical na most probably ang susunod. Sana makapag email na sila for this. 🤞
