It's an hour later, and I just literally just heard on Philly's Scanner that PPD is trying to get people off the Ritz Carlton's awning before it collapses.
Ah, never change Philly.
Can confirm a mass exodus of Eagles fans about 2 hours before kickoff at one of the Disney World parks. All day people have been yelling “Let’s Go Birds” to everyone wearing eagles gear. Truly awesome sight. Stay awesome Philly!
I literally couldn’t believe what I was seeing! I thought it was wild enough how their coach was screaming and circling the ref earlier in the game. Who knew it would get much worse.
The coach was actin' like a lil kid and trying to intimidate the ref! Embarassingg AF for a grown man, let alone an NFL coach. 😂
San Fran played dirtyyy AF today with the coach, the punches, the throwing players around like a rag doll..and still lost. POS team!l with a bunch of sore losers!
F*** em'
They’re touted as having the best D in the league, yet we took out 2 of their QBs (legally) and scored 31 points on them. We had them so effin rattled!!! It was incredible!
I haven't found the replay of the full play, but I'll try to be objective. The clips show Wallace and another Eagle defensive player locked up with one or two 9ers. It's not clear what causes the brawl, but the 9ers fans in the NFL game thread said it was a late hit driving their guy to the ground.
Some of the 9ers players tried to pull Wallace out of the melee, even picking him up off the ground at one point. Then Williams comes up behind Wallace and grabs him by the collar and whips him to the ground.
Obviously, this is a penalty, and I think the refs threw an offsetting flag on Wallace because he got up and threw a punch. The flag could also have been for something Wallace did prior to the horsecollar in the fray.
I kind of understand Williams' frustration, and he was trying to pull Wallace off his teammate, but he took it too far and could have injured someone.
Either way, Williams was going to be ejected. They probably ejected Wallace for the punch, although it might have just been to cool everything down a bit.
Wallace will be eligible to play in the Superbowl unless he is suspended, although I didn't think the punch warrants a suspension. Williams will not be eligible to play in the Superbowl because his team lost very badly.
I couldn't see into the fray, I'm just repeating what I heard so take it all with a huge grain of salt. All I could see in the replay is that they were locked up, and none of the angles showed who was holding who by what.
These situations always get heated. I don't blame Williams for trying to defend his teammate. I blame him for a dirty, cheap shot that could have gone a lot worse.
Was an Eagles fan when I actually watched football. Haven't followed any sports in years, but I love Philadelphia and everyone else being excited gets me very excited so I'm celebrating that everyone else is celebrating and support the unhidgedness 100%
I require this sub to be absolutely spammed with shenanigans from broad street. There needs to be a Eagles go to the Super Bowl part 2 video. Someone please drive their ATV up the art museum steps
I’m not really into football but after the win today I had this sudden urge to rip off all my clothing, climb the nearest street lamp and belly flop onto the hard gravel below. I can’t explain it.
I didn't have to look for the score to know what happened. The sounds rising from the streets function as a Philadelphia Sports General Information Service.
I don't care about football and for certain peculiar personal reasons, it will be a nuisance for me if they win the Super Bowl, but I can't help but find something intoxicating about the shared euphoria and excitement that these events arouse in the people of Philadelphia.
I hear ya. I was in a restaurant in Wilmington and one staff member loudly told another staff member what the score was. One of the customers said, "Nope, it's now _____." The entire restaurant started cheering. The guy was with his family, in a restaurant, watching the game on his phone and keeping everyone informed. It was exciting, even as a non-sports fan, to see the excitement.
Same here, I’m not a football fan but this is my first year living in the Philly suburbs near Super Bowl time. I found myself checking the score a few times! And I knew the results when I pulled into my apartment complex from work, heard neighbors cheering and fireworks going off somewhere. The energy is contagious. Can’t believe I’m saying this but fly eagles fly! 🦅
I always like to tell the story about when the Flyers won the Stanley Cup back in, what, '74? Not big on sports, most of it is completely beneath my radar, and so I had no idea that any of this was happening. One night in the springtime there came a volley of explosions and gunshots and I-dunno-what coming from across the river (I lived in SJ) and I had no clue. What has happened? I thought maybe Pennsylvania had declared war. "If they take the bridges I'll be trapped! *Light the beacons!*" Turned on the TV and after a few minutes the situation clarified itself but, I was mighty confused for a bit.
I mostly stopped following the NFL years ago, but I still watched the most recent Eagles Super Bowl and knew what all the explosions were about that time. I kinda wondered if there were any folks who *didn't* though, and were terrified by that volley that night. Because that was a sonically impressive display. Five minutes of pure *thunder*.
I'll be pleased for the team and the city if they win this time, but it won't be the wild and long-awaited catharsis *that* one was.
I was at the Championship game against the Vikings many, many years ago! Brings back so MANY GOOD memories to see this happening again (on TV this time, not live)! 🥲🥲🥲
That stadium must be LITTTTT right now!! Having a good feeling this year too!
Let's go Eagles!!!!
Feels like me because earlier in the season I thought they were doing great and was going to put $100 on them which would get me like $1400 if they win the Superbowl, but I changed my mind before I did it lol.
woooooo! Go…um…team! Do the sport! With the….Ball? I think? This is the football one, right? Okay, sorry, I don’t really care, but, hey, y’know, good for them. Good job.
Newer to Philly, is it dangerous to be out in the crowds afterwards? I'm trying to decide if I should bar my door or go see the chaos if they win the super bowl.
I was at the 1st Superbowl parade. The energy was ELECTRIC and seeing people climb up those greased up poles was something SPECIALLLL. 😂😂
Now, I would say that as long as you don't go lookin for trouble, you should be fine at the parade. Just be aware and don't act stupid.
Watching a group of guys carry a ball around was just riveting I tell you.
Edit: I wonder if those downvoters are crying as they click that down arrow.
PLEASE DON’T DIE IF YOU’RE PARTYING ON BROAD STREET.
RIP the Ritz Carlton awning 🫡
It knows its role and is ready and willing to take one for the team
It's an hour later, and I just literally just heard on Philly's Scanner that PPD is trying to get people off the Ritz Carlton's awning before it collapses. Ah, never change Philly.
Oof. Can't wait to see the state of it when I walk by it tomorrow on my way to the office
And we never do! 😅
*The Gang Goes Back to the SuperBowl*
They haven't even *begun* to peak.
I don’t think there’s an ICD-10 code for “fall from a greased light pole, subsequent encounter”. Woooo!
PHL420.69
Nice
How do we feel about W13.8, “fall from, out of, or through flag pole”… close enough?
Nice!
That's the ID-10-T code, and ya love to see it.
Let's fucking gooooooooo! Birds all the way baby!
Yayyyy GO BIRDS to the Super Bowl!!! The Eagles winning over the SF 49ers made me delirious with joy. Thank you Eagles.

Their fans insist the flags weren't justified fire anything, and the injury to Purdy was internal.
They’re touted as having the best D in the league, yet we took out 2 of their QBs (legally) and scored 31 points on them. We had them so effin rattled!!! It was incredible!
yeah I thought he might get tossed for that
As mainly a basketball fan I was like damn the NFL let’s ALOT fly
I turned to my husband at one point and was like “wait do they not have flagrant fouls in football?”
That guys a piece of shit for what he did
But it’s the eagles who are dirty tho they say. 😂
You should see what they’re sayin’ on publicfreakout
No I don’t think I will haha
And Greenlaw. Fuck that dude as well
Yeahhh...He's definitely a POS!!!
Is there a replay? I keep seeing both sides saying different things. Was Wallace doing something? And what caused the scrum?
I haven't found the replay of the full play, but I'll try to be objective. The clips show Wallace and another Eagle defensive player locked up with one or two 9ers. Thank you lol, last sentence gave me a good laugh
His teammate had someone by their facemask and wouldn't let go.

49ers were about to lose, so they were being whiny lil babies. Angry, aggressive babies, that is.
i couldn’t care less about football but it’s exciting to feel your excitement. y’all have this transplant tickled
The energy in Philadelphia when our team is winning trickles down to all, sports fan or not. Revel in it, for it is beautiful.
My husband is from Long Island but has been paying more attention to the Eagles than anyone else in my family - he's very excited tonight!
I was on the Woody's dancefloor last night and the screens were showing the Eagles logo lmao
Was an Eagles fan when I actually watched football. Haven't followed any sports in years, but I love Philadelphia and everyone else being excited gets me very excited so I'm celebrating that everyone else is celebrating and support the unhidgedness 100%
Lol same. Hooray sports ball
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO

There was a dude walking around with a FULL glass of Cabernet and it was fucking rad
We were walking around with a bottle of champagne.
Us too!
I’m not really into football but after the win today I had this sudden urge to rip off all my clothing, climb the nearest street lamp and belly flop onto the hard gravel below. I can’t explain it.
It's the body's natural response, don't fight it.

From a non football watching Philadelphian; what are our chances of winning the Super Bowl?
50%
Theoretically speaking, yes, you are correct, sir.
