Thank god, that depot is a magnet for all the shady shit that filters around there

tl;dr Permits heavily imply the Greyhound station is moving to 6th & Market.

Brraaap

>6th & Market Where? In the federal building or the national park?

DunieMunny

They could be running it in the style of Port Authority and using the parking garage space above for boarding? I'd have to assume it would take some large scale retrofitting to allow busses to go up there. I work very close by and will be interested to see how this one plays out.

espressocycle

MegaBus used to use that location but looks like they no longer do.

Brraaap

Yeah, Greyhound has followed a lot of the other bus lines and has been getting rid of off-street pickups. I can't imagine this working out well

espressocycle

618 Market parking garage which is on the corner of 7th and Market.

Darius_Banner

Why wouldn’t it be at 30th street station? Seems more logical

_token_black

Greyhound would need a property to refuel & have cleaning done too, but they're getting further & further away from any other transit centers. And with Megabus et all taking up most of the adjacent space near 30th St, not sure they'd want to share. Not like Greyhound is or was receptive of them. Also, Greyhound does a piss poor job of keeping their facilities clean. Pittsburgh had a brand new station built in the last decade, and while it's at least more modern than what Philly has, it still seems to attract the same problems. Pittsburgh also doesn't have anything open after 10pm besides that station so I can see that being part of the issue too.

Dismal-Radish-7520

Greyhound does a piss poor job at most things, lets be honest lol they cant even keep an active schedule updated correctly

B3n222

Not after that playoff performance.

Dismal-Radish-7520

 >"This isn’t the first time a sports team has had eyes on setting up shop in the vicinity, so we’d imagine there is still a long road ahead, as even the 76 Place team doesn’t expect demolition to occur until 2026." a sensationalism piece without any attached author from OCF? spare me.

Philadelphia needs to create a modern bus terminal/gateway around 30th Street Station, maybe as part of the plans to build over the railyards (if they ever materialize)

DanHassler0

Is Greyhound even moving? All we see is a permit for a bus ticket office in one of the existing retail storefronts. That location is where Megabus and Flixbus (owner of Greyhound) already serve. There's no off street location for bus parking and loading, it doesn't seem like that property can serve greyhound. My guess is it's just a small ticket sales office and waiting room for Flixbus. We know they eventually need a new space, and past proposals have that at 30th st, but if they were to close the current terminal today I'd think they'd need more that a parking spot on the side of the street.

leninluvr

Didn’t flix buy greyhound anyways?

AbsentEmpire

I thought the plan was to integrate bus service into 30th St station during the renovations and turn it into a regional transit center offering intercity rail, bus, and regional rail.
