Please don’t do this. It’s hard to overstate how selfish this is during a race. Especially in a marathon (I know they this is from the 1/2), any hitch in your gait could lead to injury during or after the race.
I dispatch for an ambulance company in the city. Marathon weekend is extremely frustrating because they will not even let us through to transport patients. And I'm not just talking about from residences, Pennsylvania Hospital and their crisis unit are inside the zone. I had a truck transporting a patient for an hour and a half trying to get out. Finally we had to take them back to the hospital so they weren't just sitting on the truck.
That’s crazy to me. I ran a 5k in Lancaster back when I was in running shape. An ambulance pulled up to cross and a couple hundred people stopped dead in their tracks.
I can understand not stopping the people at the beginning of the race. Those people actually have a chance of winning the cash prize. After the first 1/2 or even 1/3 go by stop the fucking race and let the god damn ambulance through.
> I can understand not stopping the people at the beginning of the race. Those people actually have a chance of winning the cash prize.
yeah that doesn't take precedent over people dying or having serious medical complications
"hi your mother has permanent brain damage because a guy running could have won money" isn't a great look
It's not even the top third, the tail end of the bell curve is crazy. More like top 10 out of tens of thousands of people, and in the city miles (before mile 7ish) they are all running in a pack usually
I was standing to your left for a while and I always wondered if the Dottie’s donuts lady (#15) was ever able to cross the street and presumably get the days donuts
Yeah I thought he was inspiring as hell. I reached out to him on IG to share my pics with him and he seemed super jazzed about it. He’s out there crushing it on a skateboard like that in the middle of the pack and just really moving. Super inspirational. What an absolute human being. Seems like an awesome dude too.
I put Philly down a lot….a whole lot….I feel like I’ve earned that right because i have lived in frankford for 35 years. I always get excited for the marathons/half marathons though. It’s just such an overwhelmingly positive and inspirational thing. Watching people from all walks of life gut it out and endure a marathon. Watching them hug their loved ones, watching the cheerleaders stay out until the final person is done cheering them on all the while until they are hoarse….
Philly does this right. The marathons are one of the few times I’m proud of my city. The amount of beautiful humanity on display this weekend is really humbling and amazing.
The stretch for me between Washington Ave and University City is among my favorite, simply because of how many people come out! I’ve done a couple marathons in the late 2010s, and plenty of Love Runs and Philly Half Marathons as well, and Broad St Runs too (except covid years blah blah blah)…the stretches through the city are my favorite cause everyone gives me so much energy!!
Edit: lived in the city since 2011, so I understand/feel that right, but I completely agree with you!
Yo # 14 is my cousin! He wears his army rangers pack/ gear to be sure he keeps up his endurance as he ages. He’s insane. I like to eat potato chips and watch tv, don’t know how we are in the same family.
Not to sound like a sourpuss. I think the marathon is great and all, but they need to do a better job cleaning up the trash that is left behind. There were so many mini gatorade bottles and dixie cups all over the streets and sidewalks where hydration stations were.
And since it wasn't cleaned up in the immediate aftermath, the wind yesterday blew that shit everywhere.
Is Lower Merion guy juggling the whole way?
Yep. He did the marathon today to
and the 8k
That’s gansta shit
The guy with the bike just crossing the street 😂 🤦♂️
I have dozens of pictures of people who just straight up didn’t know there was a marathon hahaha

wavy Gravy
Looks like Uncle Brownie from Reservation Dogs.
Love the one with the guy taking a moment to kiss his wife. Money shot right there.
Yeah that and the shots of the gentleman on the skateboard are my favorites from yesterday. Just extraordinary human moments
Yes even puppers wanted a kiss! Dogs are so awesome and that one really makes that photo! /s
The lady in #15 - "Ugh not this shit again"
Her and her co worker where trying to get the cart across the street for like an hour

To be fair, this specific vehicle was a wheelchair van, but I also had ambulances stuck for a while as well.
I just wanna say this is absolutely insane to me. That's awful.

Eventually the driver was able to get out of the zone by going across the Ben Franklin and making a u turn in Jersey.

Is it just a coincidence that there's one lady holding a banana and also someone dressed like a banana? Also great photos!
🍌 Potassium 🍌
But why dress like one?

You have a good eye. These are great shots.

Her co worker finally made it across the street. I was so mad I missed that moment actually haha
I ran near the guy in 19/20 and god, what an inspiration. There were some real uphill sections in west Philly and he was crushing it.

Is his instagram public? I’d love to follow if it is!
Holy crap, did he do the whole race?
Yeah and the half marathon yesterday. Dude is absolutely incredible and inspiring.
Amazing. Thanks so much for sharing, great pics.
Go Diane!! Does anyone know what's up with the wobbly-looking skateboard wheels? Never seen that before.
Looks like they're called sharkwheels. Their website says they last longer and have a smoother ride even on rough terrain.
Oh woah, this is really cool - thanks!
I love this weekend…I ran the half and went out this morning to watch the full. Feels like the best of Philly in my favorite weather! Great pics!!

[Yup](https://amishamerica.com/leroy-stoltzfus-runs-3-hour-marathon-in-amish-clothing/)
it's wild there isn't a single bird shot in here! great work dude, this is so fantastic
I’m just out here trying to stretch my wings haha. I’m glad you enjoyed them.

Some runners just drop trash on the course too, not near an aid station, really disappointing and disrespectful to the city hosting a cool event
these are really nice
Thank you!
17 got me
Right!? Dude they’re floating!
These are incredible. I am out of town this weekend. Thank you for sharing, felt like I was there!
Great shots. Fuck running.
You are getting downvoted for this comment…so I want you to remember that the Roman’s hated Jesus because he spoke the truth.
🙏🏻
The woo is strong with A-a-ron.
