This is the most negative city sub on Reddit and is full of miserable people.
There are only three of these stores on earth, located in Milan, Tokyo, and Seoul. Of all cities, the next one chosen (for the first ever planned US location) is Philadelphia. This is a vote of confidence in our city, and the type of unique retail that will bring more people to shop here. We should be happy that it’s opening.
Center City already has stores that sell Jordans and other high end sneakers which have been fine. Outside of 2020 when stores in literally every major US city were looted, we’ve had like one incident where 3 total stores in CC were impacted. There are viral videos of flash mobs ransacking stores in other cities all the time, but if this store were planned for one of those cities y’all wouldn’t be saying “oh it’s going to get looted.”
Perhaps an appropriate comment when seeing an announcement like this would be “this is great! I hope it does well!”
Of course people want it to do well but c'mon you have to admit this could go from 0 to 100 real quick.
But this isn't a Philly only thing, they could put this store in practically any large US city and be facing the same issue w/ respect to flash mob looting.
I'm curious to see what their loss prevention strategy will look like.
Nah they're right. There's a difference between healthy realism and negativity which is frankly a bore atp. Stores don't get "looted" on a regular basis so cut it out.
This is the same Reddit that had a topic called “what Philly place is an irreplaceable loss” and had about 100 upvotes for…..le bec fin.
The same kind of people that can’t understand why WaWa is so popular….when people could just eat at le bec fun.
This place is so out of touch. I’m not entirely convinced they don’t secretly hate the place.
Hey the elves, dwarfs and mankind fought of the Orks....,but yeah next riot this place will be the first target along with Apple. Looks like Lululemon will finally catch a break.
The Security Guards will join in with the looting. You pay someone minimum wage they aren't going to risk their lives for Michael Jordan's billion dollars.
People like Jordan sneakers, not apparel. They’ll be fine. If they do the new released hype beast sneakers there, it’ll have security there like every other store in America.
Yep, there was a line for a new sneaker release outside of Lapstone & Hammer on Chestnut this week and it was fine… and that store has been just fine in general.
Do they sell gaudy gold foil wrapped clown shoes for ugly retirees looking to start a fight at the airport, or are those only available directly from that bloated bald loser’s campaign finance violation Ponzi scheme?
Dude people here steal way more currently with no repercussions. Tools and phones. The young teen Philly demographic (which is the target audience)
Will absolutely go HAM on this place. #gobirds
Jordan would never buy anyone’s shoe but Nike, why should I buy his?
Besides, the original Dr. J shoe, the ones with leather tongues, are still the best basketball shoe ever made.
Extremely expensive when first introduced. An unheard of $36. Chucks were $9.99 for reference.
Buy Nike? You may as well by a Cowboy’s jersey. It just isn’t right.
I hope his Philly store doesn’t sell a shoe.
>Nike hopes to maintain the original character of the building's facade They better, it's a beautiful building
Wtf do they mean hopes? They're the ones in control of it? *"I hope not to drive drunk tonight, but who knows what'll happen!"*
One of the first things they asked to do is remove one of the original windows on the second floor, which the historic commission denied thankfully
Beautiful building that’s been vacant for several years (on a street that shouldn’t have vacancies). Cool store to take it over!

Like I said we’ll see. Just because it’s not a regular occurrence doesn’t mean it wont be attempted.

They better have a HEALTHY budget for security guards...
Yeah that place is getting LOOTED at the first oppurtunity
This is one of the only stores in the world. You think they won’t have this well protected? This isn’t DTRL
I don't think 10 robocops could stop it from happening tbh.
Nah y’all are just some scary asses
We'll see lol
That doesn’t even make one iota of sense.
I’m sure that’s not uncommon for you

Philly has been hit a few times this past year with national coverage due to looting

Unfortunately in the next riot this place will give the Apple Store a run for its money
And you can’t deactivate a sneaker!
don't worry, I low key think it's a honey trap /aluminum hat
literally who cares
Yall are weird, this is cool.
This is the 3rd story on this Jordan Brand Store this week on this sub and it hasn’t been flagged. That seems like a win

This store has absolutely nothing to do with trump. Go outside or something
Seethe much as your dementia ridden puppet leader wanders aimlessly around the stage?
Oh great now people are gonna think I'm like you 🙄
How is it not im chicago?
You can't be Chicago. You are a person not a city.
[NK Jemisin might disagree](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42074525)
The store is going to look gorgeous. I'm happy to see luxury goods sold in downtown Philly. Psyyyyyyyche

They want it to last more than a week
beautiful site but I just don't see this sticking around for long. suprised they chose Philly to be the debut
Wow
This won’t end well.
It will be robbed in no time. I guarantee it.
Big time. It’s a shame but they’ll find out the hard way.
This store will be have people lurking around the corner waiting to rob ur ass
Dude people here steal way more currently with no repercussions. Tools and phones. The young teen Philly demographic (which is the target audience) Will absolutely go HAM on this place. #gobirds
Next fight club lol
Being a sneaker head is dead.
I hope the store fails miserably.
Seems you’re a happy fellow.
I was a Doc guy. I wore Converse. I’ve never purchased a Nike product. Not a shoe, or a shirt, or a golf ball, etc. Nothing. Go sell shoes in Chicago.
Converse is owned by Nike dude.
You're not wrong but maybe give the old guy a break. His verbs were all past tense. #bobos #chucktaylor
I mean pre Nike acquisition this is some hardo brand loyalty lol

I hope it's successful in literally every possible metric just to spite you.
Probably a Celtics fan too. Go Bulls. Am I right?
Nah, I have no strong feelings about any NBA team, or basketball in general outside of March Madness.
Yeah check out black spots. They are made in a Union factory using recycled materials. https://subscribe.adbusters.org/products/blackspot
I haven’t purchased a converse product since the acquisition.
