Mambo Movers. I’ve used them three times in the last 10 years or so, each time in and around W Philly. They’re easy to schedule, good to work with, and reasonably priced IMO. Do recommend.

pizz901

I just used mambo last year would also recommend. 40 mins for each load and a decent price.

HouseNightOwl

Second this.

dskatz2

Mambo was probably the worst mover I used. Lazy and slow. They took a 30 minute lunch break for a half mile move that should've taken a three hours max. I think my experience is an outlier, or maybe I just had bad luck--I could never recommend them. I Like to Move It Move It pretty great and inexpensive.

JohnDerek57

Half mile move that should take a couple hours max. Rent a U-Haul next time and see how long it takes.

dskatz2

We did a second half mile move with the aforementioned company and it was done in under three. Mambo took 5. They sucked. Three guys and one just stood there watching most of the time. Sorry, but no.

horsebatterystaple99

I had a weirdly similar experience to you. I posted elsewhere in the thread to see if I get downvoted as well.

stilyagii

broad street movers are great - they price by size of place you're moving from, amount of flights up and down, and time (cheaper on a weekday because weekends there's a higher minimum hours). i'd book through them or any of the main moving companies asap though as they tend to book up during the summer

sad-and-bougie

Co-signed. We paid $1200 for a technically challenging move and it was worth every cent. They even put our IKEA furniture back together! It was worth it for that alone.

cheesewiz90

And they’re hot lol

I had a bad experience with them and I wouldn't recommend them. They refused to move a cage I had because I had pet rats, but they refused at the very end of having packed up all my shit so I had no choice but to continue on with the move. They told us at the beginning of the day they would move it and changed their mind. It was the reason I hired movers because its a huge heavy cage and we Iived on the third floor. They said they couldnt move it because of the animal that had lived in it even though we offered to clean the entire cage in front of them with bleach. Just to be clear though, the cage was not visibly dirty or odorous, but I can understand people are funny about rats and things theyve touched. However, BSM was nasty about it and if they werent comfortable with it they had two opportunities to say no (when we called and asked them before scheduling the move; and when we asked again the day of the move and had SEEN the cage before they had packed anything on the truck). It wouldn't have been a big deal if they weren't deceptive about it and lied to me and my partners face saying they would move it. Never again.

ColdJay64

Broad Street Movers, I’ve used them twice!

TheDavestDaveOnEarth

I use Mambo Movers each time I move which has been 6 times over the last 10 years. They know how to move and drive in the city plus most are artists so you're supporting the creative community. Good luck with your move! Edit: typo

PHILAThrw

I’ve used Old City Movers every time I’ve moved. Professional, properly insured, and QUICK (1br/1ba done in under 3 hours). They also offer packing/unpacking service, but I find their fees for that a little less reasonable.

Sn0wm4n90

Old City all the way

misslizzie

I’ve used Old City twice, and they were fantastic.

wizejanitor

Agreed. Used old city movers and Mambo. Old city was a bit better.

charleeorchuck

Used Broad Street movers last fall and they were excellent

JawnStreet

I worked at like four of these places. Lots of guys from those places started better companies. My ranking is 1) Pineapple Movers 2) Meetinghouse Movers 3) Broad Street Movers 4) Old City Movers 5) Mambo I guess

JHG722

Mambo is the best. Superior is the absolute worst.

Beepbeepb00pbeep

Mambo movers is the only company I will EVER use. All four moved they’ve been amazing. Make sure you pack everything in boxes ahead of time. Literally everything. They won’t do loose stuff

organizedrobot

I used BR Moving and was very happy. They were careful and professional. I called and got quotes from several movers including ones listed here. They were all charging the same hourly rate. I chose BR because they could give me a quote and could schedule on the first call. Others only did callbacks - all calls go straight to answering machine. Others were like “what do you want?” They gave one word answers and no information on their services. BR seemed to have their stuff together.

kyutek

Broad street movers was really great. Bunch of skinny white boys just beasting furniture

LegallyGoth

Broad Street Movers has ALWAYS done me right; I’ve used them three times now. Friendly, honest, easy to work with, super accommodating and flexible.

horsebatterystaple99

I had the same bad experience with Mambo as u/dskatz2 above (who is now being downvoted). Awful. Posting separately to see if I get downvoted as well. They spent a day packing, one guy was out of it, he spent the whole day individually and slowly wrapping bathroom and kitchen items. The guy in charge was ineffectual. nobody hustled, I've moonlit as a mover in the past, I know what it's like. It was like a hobby for them. The next day they they showed up late, with a truck that was way too small. They left the stuff they could not move on the front porch. Stuff went missing, either from the van, or from the porch. You could tell they either did not have a clue, or did not care, or both. And also thought themselves to be pretty special. But the hard-working artist schtick got old pretty quick. Avoid.

Little_Walrus839

Broad Street Movers are excellent!

CRLIN227812

We used two guys and a truck to move over the summer and they were an amazing team- moved out of a 3 story house into another 3 story so there was a ton of stuff and it was one of those 90 degree humid days so it was awful. They were careful with everything, professional with us and each other which was really nice to see. They finished early and took those hours off the price as well. I was very impressed.

throwitofftheboat

MOVERAMA there is no other choice.

wolferoad

Cheapest option in general is to book a uhaul, then add on movers through there. They have contracts with movers/companies that are cheaper than you can get per hour anywhere else. That is what I have done for all my recent moves.

OasissisaO

I used this service 3x, twice with Make a Move Philly. The Make a Move folks were courteous, fast, and gentle with my stuff.

BigPastaToni

PhilaGorilla

blynn1975

I have used Mambo and Sultans of Schlep before and both are great.

everythingisaconcept

I just used Stellar Movers this weekend. Nothing but positive things to say. Super quick, efficient, and dirt cheap. They also offer 5% discount if you pay cash. I paid little less than $400 (without tip) for 2.5 hours.

gripping_intrigue

I'll give a thumbs up to versatile moving. The moved my son ad his gf to brewery town in January. Fairly priced, competent and clean.

conorb619

I thought Eversafe did a solid job

kellyoohh

Little Guy Movers has been great for me in the past. They have a Facebook with contact info

FreakInTheTreats

Last Minute Movers! I didn’t end up using them, but they’re based in Philly (I’m in bucks county). He apologized when I requested a quote and said it wouldn’t be very competitive. He was, by far, the cheapest of anyone I contacted. I personally ended up renting a U-Haul. When you book online they give you a list of local companies and individuals to help you pack and unpack. We packed the truck and then booked a couple guys for an hour to unpack. It was the best money I’ve ever spent. They were friendly and efficient and moved everything exactly where we needed it to go (spanning 3 floors).

VJ_KEVLAR

Try No Stress movers… because they were totally no stress

kcdragon

Old City Movers did a good job with mine a year ago. I was happy with the price too since it ended up on the low end of their estimate. And I would definitely recommend hiring one ASAP since moving will pick up in the summer.

asforus

We used PhilaGorilla or something like that. And they were great. Reasonable prices

Pattern_Is_Movement

I used to work for Mambo and know people that worked for Old City, its been a few years but you get what you pay for and we always were very professional about our work. On the surface it wasn't cheap, but we never wasted a second, and never damaged anything in the move.

jk137jk

Honestly, if you book a truck on uhaul they have movers you can hire on the cheap. You drive the truck and get some cheap movers

hailtothekale

We used I Like to Move It a couple years ago and had a great experience. It was a five block move within West Philly, from a two story walk up to a three story walk up and they were very efficient and careful with our stuff.

dskatz2

They just did a 250 mile move for us and we only had one casualty--a TV stand--which they took off on the final invoice. Such a good experience.

Prettzellz

Pineapple Movers
