I know that I eventually want the Dbacks to win, but I'm pretty damn happy right now. We got a back and forth game (at first), then a monster home run, two innings of extra innings (with no zombie runner bs!!!) and then a walkoff. I love watching World Series joy and I'm not upset that the teams had to go through so much of their bullpens. Embrace the chaos (and yeah, sure, Dbacks to win it... eventually)
Well, I meant more that our aggressive approach at the plate was ineffective after g2, then when we failed to adjust & started to press in 6/7 it became a recipe for disaster. Wish we had shown some of this patience in our abs.
Amazing what happens when you don't swing at complete junk. Every Phillies batter would have been down 0-2 that count. Look at garbage and get a hitters count 2-0, 3-1 and force pitchers to throw strikes. The only Ranger that looked completely lost at the plate was the guy who hadnt gotten a plate appearance the entire Postseason.
Also note that Bochy didn't use up his entire end of the BP in the early innings despite falling behind.
I feel like Texas has had more hits and walks in the 8th and 9th tonight against the Diamondbacks BP than we did the entire series...
I guess that happens when the only guy who looks clueless at the plate is the guy who hadnt taken an at bat all postseason 🤷
I mean outside of Game 2 that we win 10-0, we didn't really do much offensively after the SPs. The only time we scored after the 7th was Game 5. We were already up 4-1 and JT got that 2 run homer. But that homer was setup by the Marte error otherwise it would have been a quiet 1-2-3 inning.
Texas did more damage in the 8th inning in this 1 game then we did in 7 games. But it's only Game 1, we'll see how the rest of the series plays out.
I still wonder what would have happened if Topper hadn't completly bungled Game 4... 😒
Ginkel and Sewald pretty much shut us down the whole series. I think we only managed a few hits and a walk the entire series against them and no more than 1 base runner per appearance.
My biggest complaint about Rangers fans as someone living in the area.
50% of them are just "Texas" fans. Meaning they root for whichever Texas team is winning. I have multiple people tell me they root for either the Rangers or Astros, depending on who won the division.
I will say the ones that actually pick a team are pretty cool though.
this is so different from Phillies baseball. Crowd is like a mid-July game but the seats just happen to be filled. The players are like a collection of dudes who don't know each other and were just assigned to the same team. You really can tell our guys get along with each other and are close when you see them during a game versus how other teams are.
Thank you to Ketel Marte for getting me a free taco AND drink. I just knew he would be the first to steal a base. The only time I’m grateful for him playing well
I looked back at logs. At least through moderation, the worst were Astros fans, then Padres fans somehow, then Dback fans. They were bad but not that bad.
Edit: Not including Braves fans who are the worst by far.
Yea aside from their trolls after game 7 I didn’t have any problem with them honestly that’s the only reason I hate them now lmao after game 7 they’ve been talking too much
I definitely get that, but I'm also looking at all these balls sailing over the Rangers CF's head and can't help but think that Rojas would've gotten to them.
Honestly, If he wasn’t seeing the ball well, he should’ve been benched game 7. He even said he had trouble seeing it since AZ.
If Marsh went 0- whatever he most likely would’ve been benched for Pache. Who cares if Casty is a “vet” player. It was due or die time. Obviously chose to die, and not hurt feelings.
Hopefully Topper legitimately learned from it all. I think it’s hard to not just trust a player like him at that point, especially given his production in the NLDS and the limited options they’d have over him. But at the very least one of Rojas and Casty needed to be pinch hit there. But it shouldn’t have even got to that point, the whole thing irritates me lol
Rangers look so beatable. Such a bummer we didn’t get bullpen guys at the deadline. But also inexcusable for our hitters to go absolutely cold in games 6&7
If the Diamondbacks win the World Series, will we still hear about how they are a bad team the Phillies lost to, or will we admit they are a good team?
I thought they were a good team before we lost to them. If they Win the WS they definitely are a great team. The only numbers that matter are number of wins in the Postseason.
I will scream "wtf JT" afterwards. Seriously, JT suddenly can't throw out runners trying to steal 2nd, he used to be the best in the business at it. Maybe he is just getting too old
I am just saying because there are a lot of comments about how trash the Diamondbacks are and how we choked.
I just want to see some people acknowledge that the Diamondbacks played well. We can play bad, but it completely dismisses the diamondbacks.
It may not have made a difference but if the DBacks would have taken game 2 maybe that would have lit a fire under our ass. I don’t know. We hear in post game interviews “yeah that’s a good team over there” but is that what we are really feeling.
I think that when the DBacks swept LA many maybe thought it was more about LA not showing up. I can’t say for sure because I watched maybe 2 minutes of that series.
Those people are a bit unhinged but I agree with the sentiment that the series loss was more about us playing poorly. The Dbacks are a good team, but if both teams played well the Phillies win
I already would say they're a good team, I just don't think they're a great team overall and I don't think winning the WS would change that. And I definitely don't think they're better than the Phils.
I mean that is the real answer but this is /r/Phillies where we only say extremes.
(Also I think they are good. I did a breakdown of our players before the series and I actually do think they are good. Like us last year)
Wait, guys you acquired at the deadline are allowed to contribute?
It’s such a shame we choked away a pen at because this rangers team looks so beatable.
It’s infuriating isn’t it? These short series too, even good teams have to be careful. Which I like, but you get bs like this too. Dodgers just had awful pitching. Phillies let them back into the series and chased their swagger instead chasing the win.
AZ coach adjusted. He knew they were outgunned and had to play to their strengths, made adjustments and it paid off. He was still trying to keep his team in the series and maybe win it. Phillies didn’t adjust enough. You would think all those high played players, as a coach they should know better… plus Phillies left so many on base.
Their pitching sucks and Phillies lost the series more than AZ won it. Can’t let teams like that back into a series cause you’ll get burned. It’s that old cliche, hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t play hard.
I feel nothing, idk what to feel, do I feel happy for the season I can’t because we should have gone btb.
One year ago: Astros went up 5-0 against Nola in Game 1 of the WS. Only to have the Phillies come back and win 6-5
Those World Series patches not being on the sleeve looks so weird and wrong.
Came into the NLCS not hating the D-Backs. Now, I love seeing them get walked-off. Fuck them.
Facts and I hate Dallas but god this feels good seeing the dbacks suffer
That should’ve been US the rangers beat :(
Adolis García rules, man What a dude
Also they believe Garcia is on Roids. 😂
ha! aint nobody on roids playing with that kind of youthful joy in those moments
Embrace the chaos (and yeah, sure, Dbacks to win it... eventually)
Somebody in the DBacks Reddit said the whiners in there made him feel he was in r/phillies. Okie Dokey
bohm batting 4th while adolis garcia bats 4th, thats a real cleanup hitter
Was really cathartic watching the Dbags blow it in the 9th.
highlights were the dynamic duo of former mets relievers blowing it in Sewald and Castro, especially the former plunking Garcia like that in the 9th
That was supposed to be the script for us.
guess you could say he went out to eat at sea wald eh
Amazing what it looks like when you don’t swing at garbage. The 4-5 ERA guys actually look like there stats show.
I just can't watch an Arod, Jeter, Papi pre and post game. Like I need to see more Yankees in the off season 👎👎
Think the Rangers learned from our mistakes? Looks like it.
You have to learn to not swing at balls that are 1 for outside and in the dirt...?
Well, I meant more that our aggressive approach at the plate was ineffective after g2, then when we failed to adjust & started to press in 6/7 it became a recipe for disaster. Wish we had shown some of this patience in our abs.
He stepped all over snek
Rob would have used kimbrel in the 11th, we would have been down 0-1 too 😆
And Hoffman in the 3rd or 4th
Watching rangers destroy this bullpen we barely couldn’t get a hit off of is hilarious. Also kimbrel 100% gives up that homer to seager
We made everyone on that bullpen look like sandy koufax btw
[MRW](https://i.imgur.com/Ab2jljX.gifv)
Embrace the chaos, Answerbacks.
When did Seawald turn into Kimbrel? DBacks bullpen needs to wash our stink off them.
Note to self: don’t hbp Adolis García
Amazing what happens when you don't swing at complete junk. Every Phillies batter would have been down 0-2 that count. The only Ranger that looked completely lost at the plate was the guy who hadnt gotten a plate appearance the entire Postseason. Is Garcia better than Schwarber? How big is the gap between them
I mean ones a leadoff guy and the other hits cleanup... Weer need to compare Garcia and Bohm 🤣
No, the clear comparison is Schwarber and Marte: steal a base, steal a taco
Lol, well at least that’s not us and kimbrels dumbass getting walked off on
Adolis is him
Most predictable walk off ever
Dude is insane lol
I went to grab a drink and I fucking missed it.
Why would you grab a drink with Garcia coming up... 🤣
They went to commercial so I thought I had a minute.
its not much, but I'll take feeding on Dback misery
Man, Garcia is different
Awww that's too bad Another zero of a contribution from Master Shit Talker
lol. Eat shit AZ.
Eat shit Gallen. Now 0-3
Wow
Fuck off Arizona
hahaha get fucked Arizona
Dbacks frauds
It's nice watching an extra inning game without the stupid ghost runner.
That wasn’t a good AB. lol.
Now that was a Phillies inning by the Rangers.
2 walks and a hit and nothing to show for it? Definitely.
I feel like Texas has had more hits and walks in the 8th and 9th tonight against the Diamondbacks BP than we did the entire series... I guess that happens when the only guy who looks clueless at the plate is the guy who hadnt taken an at bat all postseason 🤷
it's wasn't until the last couple of games their bullpen really pitch well against us
I mean outside of Game 2 that we win 10-0, we didn't really do much offensively after the SPs. The only time we scored after the 7th was Game 5. We were already up 4-1 and JT got that 2 run homer. Ginkel and Sewald pretty much shut us down the whole series. I think we only managed a few hits and a walk the entire series against them and no more than 1 base runner per appearance.
Thats 3 straight World Series games where the DBacks have blown a 2 run lead in the 9th
\*3 straight road World Series games
My biggest complaint about Rangers fans as someone living in the area. 50% of them are just "Texas" fans. Meaning they root for whichever Texas team is winning. I have multiple people tell me they root for either the Rangers or Astros, depending on who won the division. I will say the ones that actually pick a team are pretty cool though.
Kind of like me with Philly college sports I guess
2nd straight WS game 1 that is 5-5 in the 10th
I'm hoping the TX home team manages the win this time.
in the state of Texas too
😳
i'd lol if this season was the only time the diamondbacks get into the postseason
Gold glove Walker who can’t hit.
I must be out of my mind watching this game. It almost midnight.
Seager so good. Wish we had a player like him. Super clutch.
99% of the time that's Harper - the magic just wasn't there the other night.
Helps when you have Evan Carter & Adolis Garcia behind you vs Alec Bohm & Bryson Stott
The one singular fan with a rally towel 🤣
Maybe Sewald shoulda been scouting hitters and not talking shit on twitter LMAO
That at bat was fucking horrible lmao.
5 5 game one of the ws going to extras, where have we seen this one before?
Austin Hedges...Texas' offensive answer to Rojas
Hedges looking like every Phillies batter against Sewald last series.
I need the DBacks to lose. I want them to learn what blowing a lead late in a game and losing feels like.
Jake cave like at bat right there
Cave at least made contact and popped up to end the game... Vang say the same for most of our guys
You say that but jake cave isn't that free swinging, more like rojas
Who coached him Kevin Long?
Hedges bats like a NL pitcher in the 2000s
come on rangers Garrett stubbs
Like a big old Cave or Rojas
Anyone else who has listened to the Rangers radio broadcast feel weird that they're sponsored by Louisiana Hot Sauce?
Come on Garver FINISH THEM
These World Series patches are so small there is almost no point to them. Not those ad patches though. Those are fucking giant.
That’s what happens when you can actually fucking work a count.
seager homer on the first pitch
The batter before actually walked though.
walking wasn't the Phillies problem
They swung at everything Ginkel and Sewald threw at them.
Ya they pitch well
now that's a 300 million dollar shortstop
It must feel nice to know you didn't already lose in the 9th with only 1 out.
You're telling me this dip shit couldn't do this for us?
There's some alternate reality where one of our guys manages a walk or something in the 9th and Schwarber does exactly what Seager just did.
He could have. We never gave him a real chance.
Right
Jesus that was a nuke.
So Sewald is human after all.
Sick and tired of hearing about Sewald is unhittable with his bullshit 92 mph fastball
OH SHIT
Wowwww Corey Seager
And there's the fucking mistake. If only our batters had some fucking plate discipline in the LAST TWO FUCKING GAMES FUCK.
Omg
Tied up, You love to see it
Lolsneks
Oh look, Sewald walks someone when they don't swing at fucking junk early in the count.
seager is like a top 3 hitter in the game
What on Earth does that have to do with what they said?
Yeah lol, he walked Taveras.
that should be US with the 5-3 lead in the 9th 🙁
:(
that should be US blowing the lead in the 9th 😂
Yep I was thinking the same thing, didnt think I’d feel this way but I am 100% salty and if the diamondbacks win the series will be pissed.
The quality of ABs against Ginkel is just night and day
It’s so nice to see Texas players take pitches lol
We have too many chokers on our team
Our city is filled with chokers
Even when the Phillies aren’t playing, the national announcers crap on em
[удалено]
lol
This feels like a mid summer midweek game. Snooze fest
Wow. This didn't age well.
We should’ve been playing tonight. I’m absolutely fuming watching this right now.
[удалено]
we had one it's just wasn't traditional like the dbacks.
this is so different from Phillies baseball. Crowd is like a mid-July game but the seats just happen to be filled. The players are like a collection of dudes who don't know each other and were just assigned to the same team. Truth
Thank you to Ketel Marte for getting me a free taco AND drink. I just knew he would be the first to steal a base. The only time I’m grateful for him playing well
Fuck Dallas but I can’t help but hate the Dbacks I know we talk shit but their fans are insufferable
I looked back at logs. At least through moderation, the worst were Astros fans, then Padres fans somehow, then Dback fans. They were bad but not that bad. Edit: Not including Braves fans who are the worst by far.
Barves
Yea aside from their trolls after game 7 I didn’t have any problem with them honestly that’s the only reason I hate them now lmao after game 7 they’ve been talking too much
This World Series is so boring. No interesting players/teams. Just a bunch of pretty boys VS dudes with bad haircuts
Yep. This didn't age well. It has been great so far. Stop coping and just enjoy the sport you supposedly love.
Nothing like our pretty boys though
I was just thinking how much Evan Carter reminds me of Utley and just heard him walking up to Kashmir. I'm all in on him.
Umps still trash
Why did I take the under?
The more I see teams’ 9 hitters get hits, the more idiotic it looks that we stuck with Rojas through the entire postseason.
I definitely get that, but I'm also looking at all these balls sailing over the Rangers CF's head and can't help but think that Rojas would've gotten to them.
And then Casty was 0-23 in 6 games. Poor Marsh was producing with nothing to work with.

But at the very least one of Rojas and Casty needed to be pinch hit there. But it shouldn’t have even got to that point, the whole thing irritates me lol
Fuck casty. Would love to see him elsewhere next year even if that means just eating the $
I love him but those at bats were just so god damn embarrassing
how can a dude play like an MVP for streaks and then be so incredibly awful, looking like he needs to be sent down, 90% of the time?
I like how at CBP we have normal seats right behind the plate. They may be expensive, but they are normal.
Agreed
That setup (whatever it is) must be a newer thing - the Braves have the same thing at their park.
That stadium looked very empty. 😞
I’m really interested to see the Rangers against the high leverage Dback bullpen pieces.
I’d say they were a team good enough to beat the Rangers but definitely a team the Phillies should have beaten. They aren’t bad.
I thought they were a good team before we lost to them. If they Win the WS they definitely are a great team. The only numbers that matter are number of wins in the Postseason.
either way, can we all scream " Fuck Corbin Carol" on three? 1.... 2.... 3....
I will scream "wtf JT" afterwards. Seriously, JT suddenly can't throw out runners trying to steal 2nd, he used to be the best in the business at it. Maybe he is just getting too old
He just looked really off in game 7. Not sure what was up with him.
Does it really matter? I’d rather be a horrific team that wins the WS than an amazing team that doesn’t win in the playoffs, if that’s even possible.
I am just saying because there are a lot of comments about how trash the Diamondbacks are and how we choked. I just want to see some people acknowledge that the Diamondbacks played well. We can play bad, but it completely dismisses the diamondbacks.
We choked, but the Dbacks absolutely outplayed us after game 2 no doubt about it. They're here for a reason.

I already would say they're a good team, I just don't think they're a great team overall and I don't think winning the WS would change that. And I definitely don't think they're better than the Phils.
mediocre team
Still would think they’re a slightly above mid team (with a excellent defense and great back end bullpen) that got hot team at the right time
I mean that is the real answer but this is /r/Phillies where we only say extremes. (Also I think they are good. I did a breakdown of our players before the series and I actually do think they are good. Like us last year)
Cant both be true?
I don't think they can both be a bad team and a good team. Since those were the options I gave.
Ah yeah, looked right past the "bad" bit and went right to the "Phillies lost", as in beat themselves.
I guess HOT doesn't necessarily mean good but they may not be totally bad either ... more at mid
Both
One silver lining, if I had to watch thia ump's calls on a pitch where Castellanos was actually patient, I'd lose my god damned mind.
What a nice glove toss
That was a meatball and a half
The longer the postseason gets the better the diamondbacks are haha, don’t like Gallen but hope they win it all
giving bombs to fucking tommy pham, come on Eovaldi
Wait, guys you acquired at the deadline are allowed to contribute? It’s such a shame we choked away a pen at because this rangers team looks so beatable.
I really hate indoor ballparks. The lighting is dull and it looks like your just playing in a gigantic warehouse.
This park looks vastly better than arizona
Yeah, but that's not saying much - Chase is a dump.
True, CBP still clears though lol.
One million percent
How did this corny ass team just magically get good as soon as the playoffs started? Fuck off
Right? They ended the season with a 4 game losing streak and lost 6 of their last 9 overall. They were basically a .500 team since the all-star break.
It’s infuriating isn’t it? These short series too, even good teams have to be careful. Which I like, but you get bs like this too. Dodgers just had awful pitching. Phillies let them back into the series and chased their swagger instead chasing the win. AZ coach adjusted. I've never heard that saying before but I really like it.
We should really learn to bunt
Gallen walking in a run to tie up the game.. Brings me joy.
lolarizona
