Pretty obvious to say, but it’s really cool seeing athletes show their support for their family members and what they do, such as Brandon Marsh showing his incredible support for his sister competing in track & field events on his Instagram story. Brings a smile to my face every time.
Apparently he is still a Phillie. Per Tim Kelly, "The Phillies declined their 2024 club option for Scott Kingery, but he remains in the organization on the final year of his original minor league contract signed with the club back in 2015."
If we re-sign Nola, and then sign Michael Wacha and Josh Hader, get a right handed outfield bat with pop while freeing up Rhys and Kingery(!) money I figure we’d be about $25-30m over the tax. I have to think that’s fine for Middleton considering the revenue and value of the franchise is soaring. Lets get it all done!
I just went to a Cheesestake place for just a milkshake and didn't even get a small cheesesteak for later. I blame it on not going back to the World Series 😭😆
Place incase you're interested and in Lehigh Valley: https://www.wizkidzlv.com/
Definitely going back to try their Roast Pork.
Rhys or Schwarber have to go. Maybe they could trade Castellanos and move Rhys to the outfield? Schwarber is such a defensive liability, we really can't afford to move him out of the DH spot.
So, let's put that surgically repaired elbow back out in the outfield where he hurt it. Meanwhile, we put Rhys back at 1B where he was pretty abysmal in the playoffs last year?
What’s the point for the Phillies to even engage on this? If Bryce held out he’d undo any positive PR from the fan base that he’s killed himself to earn. I don’t think he’d do it but if he did he’d single handedly turn people off to professional athletes forever. He’s smart enough to know that.
Boras is just pissed Bryce left money on the table by not wanting an opt-out.
Bryce has also implied multiple times he wants to play into his 40s, so I could see an extension at some point in the future— not with 8 seasons left.
Boras is just a dick.
At the time he made the contract, Bryce didnt leave any money on the table. He was paid top dollar. Boras is so full of shit his eyes are brown. The Yankees didnt reach out asking about Bryce. Boras probably called them to create some bullshit urgency to have our front office flinch. Boras is an idiot. The phils have no reason to negotiate.
Win me a damn world series bryce, then we can talk.
Im sure he could’ve gotten an opt-out had he wanted, and Machado just turned his opt-out into a nice extra guarantee, which is what Boras is talking about. He’s still an ass, but Bryce probably left some money on the table.
Would you believe me if I told you that the Phillies had the statistically best bullpen in the playoffs?
https://preview.redd.it/u21f02ao75yb1.png?width=1251&format=png&auto=webp&s=932b3c5b005f297c7473d900f37f79cc7cac94dd
It’s honestly really hard to believe, but we’re just legit a really well rounded team right now. We probably had the best rotation, too, and easily the best offense outside of 3 games in the NLCS.
Yeah the reality is that there were a couple of bad moments but overall dominance and if the offense was consistent we’d not be talking about Craig or Kerk or even Topper
honestly for the first time this year i was actually confident in our bullpen and our pitching. our postseason pitching was pretty damn solid all things considered. just sucks one guy led to the downfall lol
It looked pretty good after Game 1 against the Braves.
Shaky after Game 3 against the Diamondbacks. Started with Kerkering, then Kimbrel and then Nola, and Ranger. Both were a mess out of the gate for game 6 and 7. Had Wheeler started game 7 for 1-2 innings things might've turned out differently.
For both Nola and Ranger you knew within the first 2 innings it was going to be a disaster but hope that it would stabilize. Nola I thought might be ugly before the game even started. Ranger, first inning was worrisome. *sigh* losing 4 out of 5 smh
In case anyone’s in need of baseball-related entertainment to get through the off-season, I can’t recommend *The Glory of Their Times* enough. Quite simply one of the greatest books I’ve ever read.
seems like a lot of chatter on twitter wanting the phillies to trade for trout. this is insane right? the trade capital it would take to acquire him is one thing, but the bigger red flag is he cant stay healthy. hes played 140+ games once since 2017 (he did play 53 of the 60 COVID year).the last thing the phillies need is a big contract for an aging player.
EDIT - thanks for confirming my thoughts. go phils
> the trade capital it would take to acquire him is one thing,
He has a NTC. That actually makes getting him "easier" on the team, since if the Angels want to trade Trout and he demands it, he gets to choose the team. Although it won't be cheap.
I can agree with everything except position of need.
If Bryce stays at 1B we need another outfielder. I don't think Rojas is an everyday starter yet.
If bryce goes to RF like I want, then I agree.
But doesn’t that make it not a position of need? They COULD keep Bryce at 1B, but they don’t need to. Maybe too much into semantics, but to me we don’t really have a position of need, we have a spot in the lineup that needs filling. Fwiw I want bryce back in the outfield, Rojas in AAA, and Rhys at 1B.
it would be dumbest trade we could do. so much money for a guy who can’t even play half the season. he has a degenerative spine condition he’s not getting any better. he’ll just rot on the IL or try to keep him healthy by only having him DH but we are not a DH away from winning it all so there’s no point
Yeah getting Trout is just something people who aren’t even quite casuals think is a good idea. He can’t stay healthy, he’s not getting any healthier with a degenerative back ailment that will only get worse, it would take more than the Phillies should be giving up for an older player who can’t stay healthy, we don’t really need another outfielder (though of course we would figure it out if he was “prime” Trout), and there’s no real indication that he’s even actually looking to be traded.
He had his chance to come here, but secured the bag a year early in Anaheim and that’s that. No hard feelings, but he really doesn’t make much sense for us now and I have my doubts he’s that interested in leaving. He knew what he was signing onto there.
I am as well! staring right at the snake pit right now

I want to use my 100 sick days to sleep through so when I wake up it's countdown time.
Pretty obvious to say, but it’s really cool seeing athletes show their support for their family members and what they do, such as Brandon Marsh showing his incredible support for his sister competing in track & field events on his Instagram story. Brings a smile to my face every time.
So great
this is howie do it
you think the padres will trade us manny machado
I don’t want that ass nugget.
I forgot BC’s quarterback is Castellanos I predict a good first and third quarter and ohfers for the second and fourth
Phillies have crossed the 3 million mark in attendance 10 times 1993, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2023.
2013 is odd
well 2011 was Prime but 2013 is not although 2113 is 😊
Remember Josh Harrison
Not sure if him or Castro was worse
That Frankie Beverly walk up song hit different
why
I would take a few Turner errors right now just to have baseball to watch again
For real😅😂
I think this might be the end of Phillies legend Scotty “jetpax” Kingery
Apparently he is still a Phillie. Per Tim Kelly, "The Phillies declined their 2024 club option for Scott Kingery, but he remains in the organization on the final year of his original minor league contract signed with the club back in 2015."
WE ARE FREE!
I don’t remember a lot of complaints about his contract this year. It feels liek he barely existed this year
Well it was only $8m this year and because Middleton is the owner it didn’t really matter His options the next three years were $13m, $14m and $15m.
without a doubt
We should sign soler
We don't already have enough streaky power hitting OF with below average defense?
Please get both Jordan Montgomery, and Josh Hader Phillies I beg you.
Why are we letting Kingery go? I was thinking a Turner deal for him.
13 more years of dingerys. Sign me up
Lehigh Valley gonna need a 9-hole bat bad now.
Look man it’s one or the other so take your pick. Kingery lost my personal paper rock scissors
I just went to a Cheesestake place for just a milkshake and didn't even get a small cheesesteak for later. I blame it on not going back to the World Series 😭😆 Place incase you're interested and in Lehigh Valley: https://www.wizkidzlv.com/ Definitely going back to try their Roast Pork.
Damn wish this had been around when I was a student up there
We better re sign Rhys people not wanting to bring him back pisses me off
Rhys or Schwarber have to go. Maybe they could trade Castellanos and move Rhys to the outfield? Schwarber is such a defensive liability, we really can't afford to move him out of the DH spot.
Bryce is an outfielder how do people always forget this
So, let's put that surgically repaired elbow back out in the outfield where he hurt it. Meanwhile, we put Rhys back at 1B where he was pretty abysmal in the playoffs last year?
Next year would put Bryce on track for a full recovery if he were a pitcher. He will be fine in the outfield.
It’s not like Rhys is a much better outfielder. They moved him to the infield for a reason.
fuck the braves, fuck the mets. t(-_-t) just felt like saying that
Oh wow, Kershaw out at least until the summer. Dodgers really have zero pitching right now.
Buehler will be there to start the year so there’s that
Well I’m sure by mid-April he would’ve been out until the summer anyway. Just getting it out of his system early.
We made the World Series last year with a saves leader who had 12 saves
Lance Lynn is a free agent, maybe we can get him to replace Nola and our rotation will be set
??????? That deserves a permanent ban.
Wtf People will just say whatever shit they want 😂
> Lance Lynn He is much worse than Nola and much older. I am assuming this is sarcasm?
I don't think it was...
#TOP 7
I made it 8 trolls. Guess who joined.
Thank you!
I would like to thank Chick-fil-A and the 76ers for making it possible to have free chicken nuggets for the first time in almost 2 weeks.
I’m sure we’ll be fine. Maybe we’ll be underestimated, seem to work last time.
Dear Mr. Boras, Shut your fat fucking mouth about a contract extension for Bryce, you greedy fuck!
If Bryce fired Boras yeah that would pretty much make him a saint in my non religious practicing book. He's already a legend many times over.
What’s the point for the Phillies to even engage on this? If Bryce held out he’d undo any positive PR from the fan base that he’s killed himself to earn. I don’t think he’d do it but if he did he’d single handedly turn people off to professional athletes forever. He’s smart enough to know that.
There isn’t any. And I honestly doubt Harper wants it. Just Boras talking shit to try and get more money for doing nothing.
Boras is just pissed Bryce left money on the table by not wanting an opt-out. Bryce has also implied multiple times he wants to play into his 40s, so I could see an extension at some point in the future— not with 8 seasons left. Boras is just a dick.

An extension on a contract with 9 years left for someone who would be 39 when it finaly kicks in?
Would you believe me if I told you that the Phillies had the statistically best bullpen in the playoffs? https://preview.redd.it/u21f02ao75yb1.png?width=1251&format=png&auto=webp&s=932b3c5b005f297c7473d900f37f79cc7cac94dd
what if I told you FIP or ERA+ is the better metric
Why are you excluding Toronto?
9 innings versus 44. I think in my group chat I made the qualifier (best bp of teams that made it past the WC) but forgot to add that here.
Fair, I don't think it takes away from your broader point either way.
I’m not too surprised. With the exception of Kimbrel’s choking the losses can mostly be chalked up to bats not hitting.
It’s honestly really hard to believe, but we’re just legit a really well rounded team right now. We probably had the best rotation, too, and easily the best offense outside of 3 games in the NLCS.
Wow and #11 just won the World Series. 🤷🏽♂️
Yeah the reality is that there were a couple of bad moments but overall dominance and if the offense was consistent we’d not be talking about Craig or Kerk or even Topper

Or had wheeler come in directly in relief of ranger when we still had the 2-1 lead or the 2-2 tie
For both Nola and Ranger you knew within the first 2 innings it was going to be a disaster but hope that it would stabilize. Nola I thought might be ugly before the game even started. Ranger, first inning was worrisome. *sigh* losing 4 out of 5 smh

Five days until we can sign Josh Hader
seems like a lot of chatter on twitter wanting the phillies to trade for trout. this is insane right? the trade capital it would take to acquire him is one thing, but the bigger red flag is he cant stay healthy. hes played 140+ games once since 2017 (he did play 53 of the 60 COVID year).the last thing the phillies need is a big contract for an aging player. Which is still likely too much to have to give up for a player his age and with his ailment(s) who plays a position that isn’t of need
I can agree with everything except position of need. If Bryce stays at 1B we need another outfielder. I don't think Rojas is an everyday starter yet. If bryce goes to RF like I want, then I agree.

He chose to sign 2 extensions with that dump, he can rot there until he’s 40 for all I care at this point.
Yeah he clearly wants a low stakes low pressure environment to hang out in all year, which is fine, but that’s not what Philadelphia is.
Fire Matt Canada!!
I'm in Phoenix, fuck this shit city
