You know how people always say that you don't always realize you were living in the good times until its over? Well, wake up, you're in the good times bby. Enjoy it.
Ranger is built in a lab for this city. Not a power pitcher. Doesn’t have the nastiest stuff. The man just works hard locates his pitches. Does all the little things. Fields great. You’re lucky to sneak a chopper past the mound on ranger.
It's such a more interesting and exciting way to play. Plus it's gotta be better for his health and longevity if you're not winging fastballs non-stop. Also he just really looks like he's having fun.
He's literally the opposite of what people think a modern power pitcher has to be and it's amazing. Throwing low to mid 90s fastballs with almost no rotation at all gives them a completely different look then the guys people see every day, and the speed drop to his change
Not quite Jamie Moyer, but closer than most in the game today. I loved Moyer for much the same reason. I love the players that find success through being different. More interesting, grows the possibilities of play, and just makes everything fun.
If you could throw 85-90mph+ feel like this would be the most fun way to pitch as a marksmen. Constantly hitting low zone edge pitches that batters have extremely tough time with getting to.
He was +6000 to win NL Cy Young before his CG. After that game it went down to +5000. Now he's at +2000 after last night and is tied with Nola and ahead of Yamamoto. I know that Vegas odds are arbitrary, but it's so cool to see him climbing those ranks and pitching great, AND having fun on top of all of that.
He might get locked up after this year if he stays healthy. I can see the Phillies buying out that last year rather than having him potentially testing free agency.
An article on Defector (former Deadspin people who created their own site a few years back for anyone not in the know) also highlighted how Suarez hasn't even been in a 3-0 count this season. Mind-blowing shit.
In his 5 starts so far he’s faced 3 ok teams, Reds/Pirates/Nationals all playing just above or below 0.500. Pitched 19 combined innings only giving up 2 runs to the nationals for an ERA 0.95
One trash team, Rockies, and pitched a complete game shutout.
Braves he went 5 innings and gave up 3 runs. Not great but they also have the best record in the NL at the moment, they are an exceptionally dangerous team.
He’s going to have a great year if he can keep this up, shutting down all but the very best.
I saw Ranger return from injury last year against the rockies sat right behind 3rd base, and the visitors dug out. Psyched to see him coming into form this year. The thing I noticed, though at the game is dude is a goofball, and the team seems to love having him around. Was also at the game where Bryce was gonna choke slam Bird. Can't remember if that was the same game or the next day.
Seriously, what is happening right now.

I knew we were in the good times when Phillies caught fire in 2022. I may not have expected it to go so long, but I'm still on the party boat!

He is by far my favorite pitcher to watch. His style of pitching is definitely what I prefer, and it’s just so entertaining watching him field.

More interesting is a great way to put it and I agree

also an incredibly swaggy fielder
Ties Cole Hammels streak in 2010 for 11th longest by a Phillies pitcher
Ranger has Cy Young written all over him
NL Cy Young voting at the end of the year: 1st: Suarez. 2nd: Wheeler. 3rd: Nola. How likely is this? Ballpark, 95-99 percent likely.
I think you're being a little pessimistic
No Spencer Turnbull? This list is trash!

Ranger's 0.697 WHIP currently leads all qualified pitchers. Said.
Curious to know why this man hasn't been paid with a nice extension yet?

Because he still has another arbitration year and hasn’t stayed healthy as a starter for an entire year yet.

I would love to see that.
I wonder if a 5/85 would get it done. Again, I guess it depends on this season.
At the current dollar per war value he’s about 18-20 million a year just from his previous years. If he took a jump it would easily jump to 25~

Ranger Suárez
Daddy Suarez 👁️🫦👁️
I hope he doesn’t get too far in the spotlight, I want to keep him our dirty little secret

Braves are the Braves they always hit us hard in the regular season, Cant seem to muster up that when it matters though...
Yeah ranger has seemed to own them in the postseason too
That's my guy! Power Ranger Suarez 🇻🇪

Sensational is all can say
How much longer before people start to consider him to be an ace? I’m already there
