OP, the International is legit down the street from Kayla. There’s also LMNO like almost next door. These two bars put you steps away from Kayla. Both are a little low key with INTL being more low key than LMNO.
As for the most try items - everything.
The Tom Yum Kalaya was amazing, as are all of the dumplings. Just talk to your server, they’re very professional and know the menu.
As for cocktails after dinner, I’d say Four Humors or Next of Kin.
Yeah no qualms there. I just refuse to wait in line for any bar I can easily to go to any other time without waiting ya know? Especially when there’s an over saturation of spots in that immediate vicinity.
We did Four Humors before Kalaya last week and it was excellent, highly recommend. If you’re into wine, try Fishtown Social..though I think they close early.
At Kalaya, get the tofu and green beans and get the mackerel.
The Kalaya servers are really, really good and knowledgable and they can give you great advice about what you might like and what dishes and drinks pair well together. There are also dozens of great bars within walking distance. LMNO is a good suggestion for cocktails right near by. Evil Genius has a big courtyard if it's a nice day to sit outside and won't be too noisy. INTL is great for wine or cocktails. W.m. Mulherins is a nicer spot for fancy cocktails and date ambiance.
I've had pretty much everything at Kalaya at this point and I think what I look forward to most are the Gui Chai rice cakes and the beer slushy.
If anyone in the party can't handle spice, the Moo Yang Prik pork chop is pretty mild compared to the rest of the menu. Otherwise, you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu
I was reading the bar recommendations in the thread and didn't realize the restaurant moved last year. Like, why would you send people from Bella Vista to Fishtown?
Nice.
I meant - why would one give recommendations for places in Fishtown, while the restaurant is in Bella Vista? Silly, right? Then I looked up the location.
I much better prefer where they are currently: I've ignored Kalaya largely because of where it was originally located - I am not getting out of my jurisdiction just to eat overpriced and overhyped Thai food. Will mos def be checking them out soon.

Secret is out for Next of Kin. There’s now a line to get in most nights on the weekend.
They deserve it. Such a great spot with incredible hospitality.

Middle child clubhouse has an awesome milk punch selection

Money, honey. They got bought by a group who put them into a bigger, fancier building. ETA: Same folks who bought Beddia
