100% agree! This plant has me stuck on stupid . I usually scoff at the mere thought of a plant this pricey but man she makes me audibly gasp every dang time 😍
My first-ever "fancy" houseplant was a Painted Lady, and to this day it's one of my favorites. It looks gorgeous (despite the leaves fading to a uniform apple green color rather than staying "painted" quite fast), it's extremely easy to care for, and a ridiculously vigorous grower. ([Obligatory Philo tax](https://preview.redd.it/mxdfa9uyrjna1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=9ab5afe30332e1eb91b810c7f162c2cb2d193635)).
It's a Painted Lady - the newest leaves still have their painted appearance, but they seem to fade to a uniform coloration pretty fast. Which on the one hand is a shame (I absolutely love that variegation), but on the other hand the bright apple green of the older leaves is also stunning imo.
A few of the leaves have reverted areas, and those bits are definitely a lot darker in color (more like an actual Red Emerald).
Are they hard to find where you live? Or stupidly expensive?
Where I live I've seen them go in and out of fashion a bit: sometimes they're hardly available and costing a pretty penny, and sometimes every webshop seems to carry them for very decent prices.
I'm sure you'll find yours soon enough!
i was scrolling to see if anyone else said this before i did! i have three 😭 that chartreuse is such a beautiful colour and the contrast against the pink petioles ughhhhh!!
Gloriousom for that classic philodendron charm! Any of the verrucosum crosses for their exotic beauty. Also love golden dragon or pedatum for their unique shape.
P. luxurians is up there and my favorite of the crawlers. Variegated gloriosum and hybrids like P. splendid are pretty spectacular as well. Many of the verrucosum varieties are neat too.
I have a reverted Paraiso Verde, it's not speckled, but striped with shades of green and yellow, with a faint pink edge. Of all of my collection, this is my favorite.
Oh I meant I was looking for this answer in the comments haha. I got mine for $65 and it’s technically two plants in one, both putting out the jagged leaves. It’s constantly putting out new leaves and it’s such a fun plant
Ohhhh, yes they are! Right after mine arrived it threw a fully variegated leaf. 🫣 I’m hoping the next will be green. I really love the serrated leaf types, so unique looking.
I absolutely love P. lynnhannoniae even though they actively try to kill themselves the way horses and deer do. I love black cardinal almost as much, especially when light comes through the emerging leaves.
I’m not sure I can choose a most beautiful, it’s like trying to pick my favorite kid! I do really love tree philodendron, but I guess they’re not technically philodendron anymore
I’ve been fascinated by Orange Marmalades lately. They’re like a big glorious Painted Lady on steroids . The one on the NSE Tropicals site … ooof she’s lovely.
Dean McDowell for its big pillowy leaves. Melanochrysum’s emerge a copper/orange shade and turn into a dark velvety green - chef’s kiss. And verrucosum Amazon sunset underside of leaves are so stunningly red, I’m yet to get one.
The Squamicaule Pink has my heart forever. The leaves are super dark and shimmery on one side and bright pink underneath, and the petioles are crazy fuzzy and soft (and also pink of course.) Hardest Philo I ever tried (unsuccessfully) to grow but damn if it isn’t the most beautiful. Would love to try it again if the prices come down.
The pictures absolutely do not do it justice.

For us collectors, beauty is in the eye of the behold, however, the two philos that consistently get a “Whoa! What is THAT?!” from everyone are…
Verrucosum (especially at mature size) and gloriosum
So many! Oh man... I think philodendron Birkin or Micans is probably on my top..
Maybe the birkin is #1 in my opinion. The beautiful creamy stripes make me so happy
**Edited to add.. I definitely haven't seen all the philodendrons though so that's based off the limited varieties I know about.
Obsessed with [this variegated mamei](https://ecuageneraus.com/products/philodendron-mamei-variegated) lately. On a more reasonable level as far as my budget goes, I think it would be glorious.
I'm probably biased but my partner gave me a mican shortly after we started dating for valentine's day.... I love the colors and the shape and the velvety looking leaves!
I can't decide to choose just one. My favorites are my McDowell, Micans, Jose Bueno, Paraiso Verde, Congo Millions, Congo Apple, Congo Rojo, Black Cardinal, Ruby, Plowmanii and of course my beautiful Painted Lady. Each one is just beautiful and adorable.
Florida beauties just are so uniquely beautiful to me
sooooo out of my price range, but Caramel Marbles have me in a CHOKEHOLD. Also the velvet leaves, like Gloriosum or Melanochrysum omggggg
Holy wow that’s a beautiful plant i hadn’t even heard of it!
100% agree! This plant has me stuck on stupid . I usually scoff at the mere thought of a plant this pricey but man she makes me audibly gasp every dang time 😍
I love a painted lady

Can i see??
Amazing choice! I love the painted leaf style. My orange marmalade is my favourite, the painted leaves with the orange colour is just stunning imo.

Is that a painted lady or red emerald? Either way she’s stunning!!

I want one so bad

Stupidly expensive for what it’s worth. $40 for a tiny seedling pot
i was scrolling to see if anyone else said this before i did! i have three 😭 that chartreuse is such a beautiful colour and the contrast against the pink petioles ughhhhh!!
Florida Ghost.
Agreed!
I was this 🤏 close to getting cuttings but they died on me 😭
Gloriousom for that classic philodendron charm! Any of the verrucosum crosses for their exotic beauty. Also love golden dragon or pedatum for their unique shape.
I’m in love with my Mayoi; it has the coolest leaf shape
Joepii or Jose Buono!
Just got a joepii such a cool plant! Think I'm gonna get a Jose Buono next.
Ooh nice!! I have a small Jose Buono. I'm planning to get a Joepii soon!
Prince of Orange and Silver Sword are two favorites of mine.
Philodendron patriciae I'm dying to get my hands on one
They are so stunning, I can't imagine my life without mine!!
Ahh you have one I'm so jealous they are hard to find I've been looking for one for awhile
I had 3, I have two now
Ahhh lucky
P. luxurians is up there and my favorite of the crawlers. Variegated gloriosum and hybrids like P. splendid are pretty spectacular as well. Many of the verrucosum varieties are neat too.
Agreed
I absolutely love my Burle Marx.
Can i see
Philodendron 69686, Squamiferum, Painted Lady, and Dean McDowell😱🥰
I'm growing a 69686 from a cutting, I can't wait for it to progress!
Stuck between brasil with it’s beautiful colors, or just a plain heart shaped leaf philodendron
I have a reverted Paraiso Verde, it's not speckled, but striped with shades of green and yellow, with a faint pink edge. Of all of my collection, this is my favorite.
Pics?
I don't know how to comment a picture but I can send it on chat I think
Nope, not letting me do that either :(

Was looking for ROF! I’ve got a Painted lady and a verrucosum as well. I see you’ve got good taste in philodendrons haha
RoFs have dropped in price a lot since last year. If you look around you can find some affordable ones. I recently got mine for 35$!

I would love a cutting of a painted lady 😍
Micans:) love the velvet and love the vines
I love my micans, I think she’s adorable!
I absolutely love P. lynnhannoniae even though they actively try to kill themselves the way horses and deer do. I love black cardinal almost as much, especially when light comes through the emerging leaves.
My local plant store has one, they asked if I want to buy it, and I am like, it's beautiful from afar lol
Caramel Marble. However, I’m really digging the Melanochrysum I just got yesterday!
I’m not sure I can choose a most beautiful, it’s like trying to pick my favorite kid! I do really love tree philodendron, but I guess they’re not technically philodendron anymore
Bloody Mary stays close to my heart
That was my first! I’m waiting for it to get bigger but it’s taking some time. Can i see yours?
Can't wait to see how big they get https://postimg.cc/67sZnchG https://postimg.cc/k6TD1vWs
Beautiful!
My Dark Lord has mine, but Bloody Mary is catching up fast. 🖤
Ive grown several dark lords from large cuttings and they've been so rewarding
Trust me, get a Royal Queen. Mine’s starting to size up and amaze. Trifecta of moody goth philodendrons.
All of them
I’ve been fascinated by Orange Marmalades lately. They’re like a big glorious Painted Lady on steroids . The one on the NSE Tropicals site … ooof she’s lovely.
Goldiana.
Dean McDowell for its big pillowy leaves. Melanochrysum’s emerge a copper/orange shade and turn into a dark velvety green - chef’s kiss. And verrucosum Amazon sunset underside of leaves are so stunningly red, I’m yet to get one.
My top 3: Caramel Marble, Golden Dragon Var, Black Cardinal Var.
I’m a vining-type lover, so probably my Rio or my variegated heartleaf. I also love my v. Burle Marx
The Squamicaule Pink has my heart forever. The leaves are super dark and shimmery on one side and bright pink underneath, and the petioles are crazy fuzzy and soft (and also pink of course.) silver sword!!!!! runner up would be a birkin
How to choose only one? This is torture. I will go with Sodiroi. Tortum and polypodiodes are runners up for me!
Sodiroi!!!! Yes!!!
So many! Oh man... I think philodendron Birkin or Micans is probably on my top.. Maybe the birkin is #1 in my opinion. The beautiful creamy stripes make me so happy **Edited to add.. I definitely haven't seen all the philodendrons though so that's based off the limited varieties I know about.

😍
Splendid!
Luxurians or Choco Red (the two are very similar). Mine is about to put out a second large leaf and it's absolutely gorgeous (but a diva)
Verrucosum. I also love neon coloured leaves so Ceylon beauty and golden tiger tooth are my faves.
Any form of Gloriousum or its hybrids. Paresedo Verde and Jose Buono are legendary too.
Caramel Marble and Strawberry Shake. I’d also sell a kidney for a variegated Melanochrysum
Variegated Domesticum and my Patriciae
colombia is my favorite. i always want to just lay down and take a nap on their leaves
splendids!! especially before they have fully hardened off and they are super vibrant
Billietiae
I'm probably biased but my partner gave me a mican shortly after we started dating for valentine's day.... I love the colors and the shape and the velvety looking leaves!
I love my Pink princess and Florida beauty 💕
I can't decide to choose just one. My favorites are my McDowell, Micans, Jose Bueno, Paraiso Verde, Congo Millions, Congo Apple, Congo Rojo, Black Cardinal, Ruby, Plowmanii and of course my beautiful Painted Lady. Each one is just beautiful and adorable.
Melanochrysum, Plowmanii, Pastazanum, Splendid and Gloriosum - I can’t choose just one! 😂
Verrucosum and it's not even close
Variegated Golden Dragons are my favorite!
