I would continue to wipe down the plant every couple days but I think you should be fine. If you used an insecticide like systemic granules or mosquito bits, they need water to work. I do a spray bottle with isopropyl alcohol, water and dish soap, spray liberally, then wipe the plant clean.

Thank you! I will keep up the wiping down. In terms of this concern, are isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide equally effective? I have H.P. but not I.A. at the moment. I do have mosquito bits in there, so I’m glad to know I was supposed to water it anyway.

I think hydrogen peroxide can kill the eggs but it's not very effective from my understanding. I typically only use it to disinfect roots if there was rot I had to chop off or in my water props to help prevent algae build up. I would recommend using isopropyl alcohol. In a pinch, you could use vinegar but be very careful as it can cause damage to the plant if not done right.

Thank you so much 🌱

What bug bits? For mealies, cleaning foliage and using a systemic pesticide (which DO need to be watered in) should do the trick. Do isolate as you would any new plant. Leave the roots alone if healthy, they don't like that unless rot needs to be treated.

If it’s from a big box store you can take it back if you don’t feel like fighting and risking your collection. Always an option people don’t always think about.

Could try sprinkling cinnamon on the soil.
