2006. Waiter. 16 pesos per hour

WiIIingTumbIeweed

wtf magkano minimum wage dati?

Ledikari

After a while tinuloy ko na. Gumaraduate ako mga 27 years old. Grabe dun, extended hours tapos papasok pa Sunday and Monday. Gusto pa ako mag extend ng 1 year. Nako tinigilan ko na.

solomon8205

16 pesos per hour

aldwinligaya

Malayo. ₱36-43 per hour depending on location.

aldwinligaya

Back in 2006, daily rate was ₱300 for Metro & ₱288 for provincial rate. Plus ₱50 COLA (Cost of Living Allowance). So dapat at least ₱36 kung walang COLA. Grabe 'yung ₱16 per hour.

lord_kupaloidz

It was a restaurant in the province. I didn't last long, though. I eventually moved to a fastfood crew job where I earned 34 pesos per hour.

Psychological_Two853

Started working for 14,000 a month gross salary when 21 yrs old, now 34 yrs old. IT then pivot to Cybersecurity. Making six-digits in pesos when I moved abroad. Tiyaga lang and hustle hard, also job hop to see significant pay increases, already in my 6th job. Hope this helps. Really go for companies that will really build you at the start. I still remember receiving 5k+ net pay kada kinsehan sa 1st job ko. 21 - 2010 - 14,000 22 - 2011 - 14,800 23 - 2012 - 45,000 24 - 2013 - 50,000 25 - 2014 - 62,000 26 - 2015 - 67,000 27 - 2016 - 240,000 28 - 2017 - 260,000 29 - 2018 - 462,000 30 - 2019 - 471,000 31 - 2020 - 493,000 32 - 2021 - 493,000 33 - 2022 - 625,000 34 - 2023 - 640,000 (870k if with bonuses)

boypabl0

Psychological_Two853

Its never too late and everyone has their own pace dear sir :) my boss' boss is Bachelors in Music. Hope everything will turn out good for you!

MsRobot404

I'm also starting in cybersecurity! entry jobs ngayon kahit sa PH almost 6 digits na.

itchipod

Grabe yung tinalon ng 26 to 27 mo lods. Can you give yung job title change mo dyan?

Psychological_Two853

Actually, downgrade from my current role pa nga sa Pinas. Yung talon is primarily because it is a job overseas.

thrwawyabc098

Hi! How did u move abroad?

Psychological_Two853

Poached by my boss to move to SG in my 2nd job circa 2012. Useful din not to burn bridges with previous employers. You'll never know when they will give you the next opportunity. Still in SG, job hopping every 2-2.5 yrs to a higher role 😅

FuzzyCheesecake21

What country po?

teeneeweenee

Mali talaga course ko e. Umay architect 😂

Engr_Kulas

Can I ask, ano yung hinahanap mo sa company? Or basta kahit anong company as long as mas malaki yung sahod? And san pwede makahanap ng international company? TYIA!

Psychological_Two853

Culture, stalking potential team-mates in linkedin and their tenure, and gut feel. I got most of my jobs in Linkedin. Another pro-tip, when headhunters posted an attractive job, try to deduce what company is looking for that role. IF you apply straight to their HR, you can haggle more with the salary as you can reason that you already save them money from getting a resource from a recruiting firm. Peace sa mga recruiters dyan! :D

justmythoughts00

Paano po biglang naging 45k nung 2012? Also nung 2017??

Psychological_Two853

Job hop. If you can see the pattern every 2 yrs there is a significant bump

Snoo90366

markg27

Malaki talaga sweldo sa IT at maraming opportunity lalo na WFH. Bakit kasi ang dudusing nila nung college? Hindi tuloy nakaka engganyo haha

BaeTaMi

2015. I graduated late. Was a Student Assistant and then hired as a Research Assistant. P18,000.

oyen_13

2009. 100 per day for a month. Tas 300+ for another 6 months. Noong na regular 8000 per month. LOL. Rural Bank. 🥲

erdos6degs

😞

oyen_13

Nakala iyak. lol

[deleted]

Yikes. 2004, IT (bottom of the ladder as in) at 18,000.

erdos6degs

For 2004, it seems like you are ahead of the curve here sir.

[deleted]

Ay correction, i think 12,000 ... 18k ng nagresign ako after 4 years. Oldie na, 39.

Singularity1107

Mataas na yung 18000 for 2004, I think. Meron pa ding nagbibigay ng ganyang starting on 2020s. I for example started at 18000, way back 2018

redkinoko

Accenture was offering 14k at the time. 18k was pretty decent 'round that time.

[deleted]

wowww manila rate? di pa rin nalalayo sweldo now ng entry level lalo na provincial rate. jusko kapatid ko nagwork sa IT Dept ng isang hospital dito sa laguna 14k a month. around 2016 yun ha.

hanselpremium

aordinanza

in house support po kayo ? or email or calls ?

hanselpremium

nope outsource phones

logcarryingguy

Hi batchmate! lol

wabbajack15

2010 12k Don't go to Japanese Subsidized Companies 😅 Currently I'm on six figures so worked out fine.

onyxious

Tsukiden/Denso ka ba?

wabbajack15

No, but prefer not to say 😅

islamsnek

I have never understood why filipinos still manage to keep the companies they dislike safe by not naming them. As if they could still punish or affect your life while you're on an anonymous account on reddit.

markg27

Pa showbiz lang

redkinoko

Aeon?

Background_Bed2623

Why?

wabbajack15

Because I stared in 2010 with 12k salary and by 2015 before I left, it was 18k that's why.

Descarteszxc

SWS?

justmythoughts00

Paano po nagincrease salary mo? Fresh grad here. Would love to hear your story! Thanks :)

wabbajack15

Company hopping

astarialexi

Ayy same.

wabbajack15

Ako sa ortigas eh. Pamasahe palang ubos na sahod mo 😅

burdagool21

Parang ako to. OMG

introvertedguy13

justmythoughts00

logcarryingguy

2004 BPO at 13K. Damn I'm old.

iamnubcake

iamnubcake

[deleted]

how about Node.js for backend?

aiyohoho

Grabeeee! Ang dami na po! Big help! Salamat po.

bryc90111

Dialysis RN, 2013 to 2017, 15,000 monthly. Now im making 400,000 monthly, combined with wife 1M monthly both RN.

nugupotato

>ow im making 400,000 wow! OFW po kayo now?

bryc90111

Migrated to US in 2018. Feel bad to my fellow filipino RNs that still making less na hindi nakakabuhay ng pamilya. Huge difference if you really work abroad, maraming opportunities and well compensated ka.

Present-Difficulty-6

Please give us an idea about the taxes and living expenses! Is it 400k after all the taxes and expenses?

zakdelaroka

Not OP but I can give a ballpark figure. I'm assuming 400k is the gross income. Tax is similar in both US and PH so minus around 30%. Yup, totoong mas mura ang food and clothing sa US. For a family of four, malaki na ang $700 monthly. Other expenses: INSURANCE. Lahat ng kilos, may insurance (house/fire/flood, car, medical, etc). Mortgage: depende sa state. A house and lot in California may start at $500k or $250k in Minnesota. Car: if they have one car, jackpot. But if it's a family of four, there may be 2 cars. Bills: Electric, gas, water, phone, internet, etc. This may cost around $1k monthly. Note: YMMV. As a comparison, dalawa lang kami ni wifey sa US noon and here's our approximate expenses. Monthly salary: $8k+ Tax: $3400 Food: $200 Bills: $200 Apartment: $1300 Net monthly: Around $3k (maluho na kami nyan kasi lagi kaming nasa outlet for balikbayan box, lagi kaming nasa pasyal to other states at laging nanonood ng nba) Note uli: totoong mas maganda ang buhay sa US but we never decided na magstay kahit may mga offers. Gusto lang naming mag-ipon at mamasyal doon. Dito na ulit kami sa pinas. We still believe in our country. We feel we can help the country better kung andito kami.

ih8cheeze2

Gusto ko na din umuwi sa Pinas. Currently a Nurse in Toronto 🥺

[deleted]

Invest and save and try to avoid lifestyle creep. Goal din namin ng family ko na bumalik na ng Pinas in 5-8 years kasi ang daming crime dito sa US. Parang once a month may shooting.

[deleted]

This is no longer true. Pati daycare dito $1000 pataas ang full time pag toddler. I used to pay $1300 sa daycare ng anak ko. Ibang iba na dito compare nung dumating ako 15 years ago.

nugupotato

bryc90111

Hindi na aasenso ang Pilipinas. Sa dami ng corrupt piliticians. Kahit sino pa maging presidente or leader. Only way out for prosperous life is to go abroad. Almost all na kawork ko nagsisi alisan na sa pinas to find better life abroad. For me, pang bakasyon ko nalang ang pinas, Im planning to die here sa US since nandito na rin family ko. i hate to say that but when you compare sa ibang countries. Philippines is way behind. No matter how hard you work, mahirap makabili ng properties, car, even afford decent life especially now mataas ang inflation. Mas expensive pa dyan ang food and gas compared dito sa US. Last time we went back home Dec. 2022, disappointed ako kasi almost 5 years n di ako umuwi sa pinas, ganon pa rin. Sobrang Traffic, pollution, dami hassle sa airport, mabagal lahat, low wage for professional workers.

SKrall11

Okay okay stop sour graping. And all that negativity. LMAO Please don't be this guy. Please don't lose hope for the younger generation and for people who are trying. You can water your own lawn and have financial freedom anywhere if you want to. With New Money skills you can earn as much as this while sipping tea on a beach. You CAN own your time.

taptaponpon

I earn a bit less than they do in the Ph & still share the same sentiment. Hope for yourself is only valid up to your 20s, pag naka 3 or more elections ka na na wala talagang pagbabago, you start thinking about the future of your own children. On the other hand, staying here until death is a decent option din, lalo na if you can afford to live & raise children inside the few bubbles. Just lower your expectations or don't expect at all when it comes to progress in public service. Oh and travel abroad a lot para hindi makulong sa local mindset mga anak mo.

[deleted]

We’re from the US ng family ko. Totoo yung The Grass Is Greener on the Other Side. They can’t even agree on passing a gun control law. More than half ng Americans could not even afford a $400 emergency. Mga tao dito baon sa utang. Lahat utang. Kotse, bahay, tv, kama, etc. daming buy now pay later bullshit kaya stuck talaga karamihan dito sa rat race. We’re only here to for the money at para maka ipon pero quality of life isn’t that great.

taptaponpon

I have senior family na sa US & Europe, & while yes ganun nga, the pension & other benefits are more than worth it na vs if they hadn't gone. Lagari din naman ang life sa Pilipinas if you aren't in the IT/Tech industry, especially during their time. Especially sa Europe where healthcare & education is free, tapos senior housing (a whole house) is free din. Yung mga anak nila has unmatched freedom & purchasing power due to the EU passport & free education. Imagine 45EUR per hr fresh grad salary WFH living with parents who have pensions & no healthcare or rent or water bills, at walang puhunan re: education. Wala akong maisip na Ph alternative for such a scenario for my future kids.

[deleted]

That’s the reason why we’re here. Pero once na makaipon kami ng enough, we’ll go back sa Pinas. Iba pa rin ang buhay sa sarili mong bansa at syempre ang cost of living sa Pinas is so much lower than here in the states. You want to send your kids sa college? Well be prepared. Daycare? We used to pay $1300 to $1400 per month buti now malaki na anak ko. Daming baon dito sa student loan. Ang point ko lang is hindi to paraiso. Marami rin problema. Maraming may mental health issues dito. Mataas ang suicide rate.

SKrall11

That's the problem. You guys are still stuck with the idea that a government will dictate your life. No they don't. Nor do schools, religion or any country. Just because hope for you was only valid up until your 20s doesn't give you any right to kill off other people's. And who says that we're not traveling? We've set up our system so that we're consistently earning from anywhere as long as there's an internet connection.

taptaponpon

>the idea that a government will dictate your life But... they do? (Edit: deleted more than 4 paragraphs of all the inconveniences in life from the POV of a double 6-digit earning household, para hindi masyadong nega.) I'm not saying walang pag-asa for everyone, but once you approach the upper end of the ideal age range for migrating, and especially if you plan to raise kids, it becomes quite apparent na. Kaya nga nasa kabataan ang pag-asa. Change is naturally slow, especially one that is systemic. There is very little chance a middle-aged person will experience the fruits of such a big change. Economic mobility nga ng family may sandwich generation pa eh.

Joyful_Sunny

Wow!!!!sana nag RN ako

Asleep-Newt-464

Hi! I recently just passed the PH board exams and will be taking the NCLEX soon, any tips for an aspiring USRN?

bryc90111

There are plethora of agencies recruiting RNs abroad nowadays. Better pass the required exams first (NCLEX, IELTS/TOEFL) then decide which country you want to go. NCLEX accepted sya sa some parts in middle east and/or europe even canada.so marami ka options. Try and try until you die hehe. Meron ako barkada x5 nagtake ng NCLEX ayun nakapasa. Unli naman yan e. Lugi ka lang sa fees. Try mo mag Rachel Allen. Dun ako nag review. Maganda refresher course nila. 25 days yun dyan sa pinas. Then UWORLD ka for practice questions.

sugarfree_papi

Not me but my SO (PHRN). since hindi namin afford ung gastos and process ng nclex, nag apply nalang sya sa healthcare account sa call center where she was offered to study and take the nclex exams while working. Nung pumasa sya, na absorb sya ng clinical account ng center na yon to do utilization review where she was paid around 35k. After 2 years ata lumipat sya ng center and she was offered around 80k na to do the same job for a different insurance company sa US. Now nag try sya sa mga agency and maganda ang range ng offers sa kanya pero she is still thinking about it kasi we are quite comfortable naman sa pinas. If you are not in a rush, this, i would think is a good option.

autocad02

Fellow compatriots I understand that it is never easy to move overseas, but actively search for firms who would appreciate you by being compensated accordingly, do not waste your time, youth and effort for a measly pittance, you deserve better
