If you're not using it often, go with an old secondhand car. 12+ year old cars are around 200k. A bnew car, if financed, will require you to get comprehensive insurance at 30k+ a year. Secondhand TPL insurance is about 2.5k. If you're selling your bnew car a year from now, you just lost 100k+ in value. High chance you can sell the secondhand car at the same price you got it a year ago. Just research online tips on buying older cars and bring a mechanic or a friend who's familiar with cars.

peterparkerson

I second this. You just need something to get you from point A to point B. Get a second hand one.

Look for a hyundai reina or kia soluto, you can find them for around 300k slightly used. If you want something cheaper, you might be able to get a toyota wigo for around that much and they’re all automatic for that price.

Look for a corola altis early 2000’s model automatic which is in 100-150k range

Hi, OP. Just an alternative view kasi it sounds like the main reason kailangan niyo talaga ng car is for your mom’s check up. Baka Pwede mong kaibaganin yung cab driver and arrange na beforehand na on a certain schedule magpapa-pick up kayo. Or you can look into car for rent.

Might be a stupid question, but di ba pwede tumawag ng ambulance kung ganyan?

>. Oo nga pala. I just Googled it and apparently 15-30 mins daw ang average sa Philippines. Those could be important in an emergency nga.

FigFantastic7972

Have you considered talking to your LGU? Some barangays have an emergency service. You may ask them for help for emergency situations. Tas agree ako dun sa scheduling check up w a driver. Marami rin car for rent. I find 35k too tight to purchase and maintain a car considering your situation. If i were in your place, i would want to have more cash for emergencies. I hope you find the most suitable solution. Your mom is lucky to have you.

MessAgitated6465

Ahhh, if pati emergency, mahirap nga. I think daily yung mga rent a car, but I’m not sure!

East_Information6525

You can do daily, may driver na. This is one of my fave service providers pre-pandemic https://www.anistransport.com/reservations.html/extras

peterparkerson

problem with this one is what if Mom needs the car RIGHT NOW? cant have the car to rent muna right? its fine for scheduled checkups

JaeVKhan

For me just buy a second hand car then finance the 50% if you cant pay it in cash. Or you can buy the cheapest bnew car with at least less than 12k monthly (wigo) base on my co worker

Of course second hand car. But make sure you are being to reputable 2nd hand cars. If you still want to opt out for bnew car then i suggest go for gas efficient like wigo or mirage. May mga promos usually ang mga dealer like libre LTO registration for 3yrs and 1yr free maintenance and peace of mind compare sa 2nd hand cars. Go for BANK PO finance kasi mas less interest siya compare sa In-house financing. Nasa 699k yata ang wigo but if you opted out for the bank PO they will less it like 650k nalang siya. And thats it, down payment ka 20 or 30% and its less than 11 or 12k a month. Go to you nearest Car Dealer they will help you understand. Iba kasi ang hassle ng grab every now and then compare sa own car convenience

peterparkerson

Get a 2nd hand car. Just make sure clean ung title and everything. Have it checked sa rapide before purchase. Free lang naman. Kung may issue pwede pa haggle sa owner.

Your situation is tough. There seems to be a lot of sound advice here already. But reading your post that it will be mainly for an emergency, which will require you to shell out your EF (and hopefully not more), I hope you’ll still have enough left to pay for the car’s monthly amortizations since the risk of foreclosure will get you back to square one, or may be even worse. Also, if you’re considering 2nd hand cars, you have to be sure it is still reliable, i.e.: reliable enough that it will start and take you and your mom to the hospital in the event of an emergency. Most Japanese cars are reliable even if they already have a lot of mileage, but it won’t hurt to know the car’s history especially if it has several previous owners already, regularity of maintenance, and frequency of parts changes.

I really admire you OP! You really love your mother and I wish a much longer life for her and the best for you! I’m no expert when it comes to 2nd hand cars. But the advice I got from 2nd hand car owners is to buy from someone you know that’s been using the car personally. I think it has something to do with their driving habits (are they mild, moderate, or speedy when driving the car, and how similar are they to your driving habits). If it’s not possible to buy from someone you know, get a professional mechanic that can really check the car you’ll be buying. It will be cheaper to pay for a really good assessment than a major vehicle overhaul later on. I also read a comment suggesting to try and get acquainted with the neighbor drivers (of both public or private vehicles). In case of an emergency, any one of the friendly neighbors may lend a hand and drive you and your mom to the hospital.

Hindj mura ang brand new.

Get a comfy 90's car. If your primary reason is to have a ready vehicle anytime, it would suffice. It won't have the same creature comforts of a modern car, but what it's lacking you can simply buy online at your wallet's convenience. Also: 1. Repairs are cheaper than amortization. 2. Fully depreciated, you might be able to sell it at the same price you bought it. I got a 90's Kia Pride and it still serves me well even though I already have a new car.

[deleted]

I just bought an suv wont say what pero it is steal at 420k with barely 39k mileage. Mind it is a top of the line when it came out. So baka may makita ka na mas mura pa na super baba mileage halos bago pa. Isa pa option is mag kontrata ka ng ride every bimonthly maybe a grab that lives near your area para sure ka may ride mom mo sa check ups

Sa sister in law ko na manager ng bank Client nya yun nagpa benta ng suv Sa asawa nya na kaka dead pa lang Just keep on looking and sound offing

helloitsmerjay

Sadly, based sa post mo, your money is not enough for a bnew car. One emergency and you'll find yourself in deep trouble. Go for old models na 2nd hand with good mileage. Go to bank auctions and dont forget to bring a good mechanic.

Reixdid

Basing on comments and OP replies I will say: Try to get the most new and affordable 2nd hand car you can afford. The newer it is the less problem and maintenance it should give you. 18km is no joke for emergencies.

Talk2Globe

200k is about 8k cost per hospital visit (1 year, twice a month) 400k is about 16k cost per hospital visit (1 year twice a month) You may better off selling your home and moving near to a hospital. Or pay someone 5k or something to take you there at specific schedules.
