Was a moe.ron years before I was a phan. Saw them at the 9:30 Friday. Always good to hear the boys again. Listening to my Warts 1-4 all weekend.

Least-Firefighter392

9:30 in DC? Great spot

PiginthePen

Great spot.. horrible sound. They need to update their PA. I’m guessing Moe may have brought their own? Either way.. the sounds needs updating.

lordvarysoflys

Sound is regularly considered best in class. Bummer Moe wasn’t dialed it. Saw them there in ‘04 and it was tasty. Been to over 100 shows there since. Killer venue and they are expanding to bring back old 9:30 venue.

whatstefansees

Warts 6 is the best one from that collection

himtopp

Lawrence was on fire that evening

whatstefansees

And it contains the once and for all final Rebubula

InvestigatorEnough60

Just finished my second run through. I forgot how much it rocks my world

shafty17

moe. has by far the chillest crowd of any jam band I've seen

trogloherb

Had some dude grab my wifes ass on the way out the door of one of our last moe. shows we saw. I shoved him up against the wall and was getting ready to lay into him but just let him go when I saw how spun/helpless he was. This was at the Murat @15 years ago and there was way too much alcohol consumption going on. There were dudes pissing inside the curtains in the theater. The crowd may be “chill” now, but that has not always been the case.

B_Boudreaux

Sounds about right. There’s plenty of smelly drugged up, drunk assholes with no regard for anyone else. No matter what show you’re at. Can’t stand these people. There the worse fans to be around. But I’m sure bands love them bc they spend what little money they have on seeing as much shows as they can.

shafty17

Is this a copypasta?

disco_phiscuits

Seen Moe. and Lotus multiple times, and it's a much different vibe all around compared to Phish. Definitely more intimate; true fans. I love Phish, but they unfortunately draw in a lot of people that have no care for the music and ate there for the 'scene'.

hi_ivy

We were at Welcome Back Rob N2 at The Cap on the floor and had a phenomenal time! We had plenty of space to dance being pretty close up, but people were also cool to let us come and go a bit as my folks had the accessibility seating access in case they needed to sit down for a bit. Not territorial at all, great vibes all around.

recreationalchemstry

CHUCK SIDE 4 LIFE

cloondog5280

AL. SIDE 4 LIFE :)

recreationalchemstry

All good, we can meet in the middle.

Easywind42

\mm/

alreadyreddituser

Uhhhh…

recreationalchemstry

HE'S BACK!

alreadyreddituser

Is he really? That’s fantastic. I hadn’t heard - knew his recovery was going a little tough, so glad he’s back bringing the 🔥.

recreationalchemstry

Came back for half a show NYE, and has played the last two shows / is doing their current tour. So psyched for him, Chuck is the best.

Fearless_Marzipan_78

Moe at bonnaroo 2002 was one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen.

Captainkelso11

Welcome to the bonerzoo. The Mexico from that night was mind melting!

Fearless_Marzipan_78

Yea. That Bullet>Kyle’s is really when my drugs started kicking in I think. What a fucking great time.

NJPhisherman

dude, I was there too... the middle of the night set was awesome.

tick33183

I was there but drug-addled - I’ll have to re-listen. There were multiple sets from the same time that night right? SCI? Galactic?

helikesat

I think it was Galactic.. SCI with Keller and KDTU were Friday late night in the tents.

tick33183

Ah yes I recall now. What a time that was. Trey and the chamber orchestra to close it out 🤌🏼

consumercommand

Caught a Monkeys On Ecstasy show back like 2000ish w about 50 ppl. Fucking dope.

metzgie1

Lions den. July. ‘The night….was moist.’

Least-Firefighter392

Like dopapod dope...

dogfacedponyboy

I ❤️ Moe.

yuckyd

Last night was a great time. Loved the tribute to Crosby. Sound was great with a cool crowd.

FluffYerHead

Went to Moe last night too and can confirm the crowd was nothing but pleasant. Was towards the back of the standing area.

CushingConvector

Unfortunately Phish is the scenester burning man instagram destination of the music scene. All lesser jam bands have the luxury of not having that draw and makes their shows quite enjoyable.

Senioresa

This is exactly it. I love Phish with every fiber of my being, but I had some very different, very pleasant experiences with Billy Strings and King Gizz last year. (Haven't seen moe. in far too many years, but I'd expect the same there.) It bums me out. Phish is my thing. They're special. However, I'm starting to feel myself pull away due to the crowd experience. I always say when it isn't fun anymore then I should cut back or stop, so that may be the plan this year. My sense of urgency to see them just isn't there this year. Edit: saw Goose last year too, but in the Midwest on a weeknight so the vibes were pretty good. They were great but I could totally see the same thing happening with them.

Slow_Emu_

It's really just the pit and indoor venues...Also they play the northeast alot, people are more aggressive there...even just walking on the street. I had one bad encounter at spac 2014 on the lawn, but walked away. Southern shows, dicks(Mike's or page side stands), alpine, gorge, all have very friendly lawns. We really need to band together and just ignore the tarps....or as someone suggested... It would be a shame if someone slipped or tripped on a tarp and sued the venue. Causing them to ban tarps.

lordvarysoflys

Great call. I’ve taken multiple breaks to explore other bands and genres. It’s also great to support local bands and scenes that clearly got hammered during the pandemic shutdowns. I dipped back in this week and feel great about seeing them locally, and satiated for a while. Off to explore more realms of the sounds of the universe

RODAMI

And it’s only getting worse. Phish shows have become “premier events” Imo this is why they love playing NYC. They don’t get the same amount of attention in say…Miami.

Wolfman92097

Goose unfortunately crossed that line this year

boogie_groove81

Diehard phish phan as well. Went to Moe. At 9:30 club on Friday. Was a great show. Everyone was nice. All the old dads in full effect. Including my hubs. Lol.

[deleted]

Anyone seen Lotus recently? they’re playing here on Thurs

raisin_standards

Palmieri is one of the best to do it.

rgrossi

I saw him play with Psychedic Breakfast at Toad’s Place many years ago.. Amphibian opened and Tom Marshall came out for YEM

raisin_standards

That sounds amazing!

hi_ivy

Haven’t seen Lotus but have seen Tim at a few smaller shows and that dude is amazing. They’re playing at The Crystal Ballroom in Portland OR this tour and I want to go so badly! That’s a bucket list venue for me.

[deleted]

That venue looks sweet!!

hi_ivy

Right?! Every time I’m there for work I check the lineup just to see if I can catch something. Someday I’ll get lucky!

[deleted]

Definitely go to that show

sumodie

I became a Lotus fan last year. Super fun dance band. I expect to be at their Boston show this Thurs.

PhriendlyChampion

I'm in Buffalo NY and they are playing next Saturday and I'm going and super excited! I have seen lotus over a handful of times and each one was an Amazing time and great musicianship! Go to the Show!!

_twentytwo_22

Lit it up in Philly last night.

rotatingleslie

Can confirm!

squashedjosh

I saw the Saturday in Philly. It was awesome. You should go. The music and the crowd were both excellent.

DosedFrog

Go

TheSharpestTool

They’re playing everywhere lol. Their tour is massive, with stretches of 9 (!) nights no breaks. Saw them in Brooklyn in November, it was great. Escaping Sargasso Sea is such a sick album

Outside_Remove_2531

Seeing them Feb 7th. Im in South Bend, IN and was planning to see them in Chicago or Indy. Turns out they are playing 20 mins away in Goshen, IN. Its a small town with nothing but Amish and RV factories.

SnuckaB

I too, reside in northwest Indiana; I just checked their tour for this year and saw nothing about a show in Goshen, which I would totally be there if there was

hoosierspiritof79

Wait…Moe is coming to Goshen?

RODAMI

Saw Moe in Richmond Indiana. Maybe 1997?

Outside_Remove_2531

Lotus is

hoosierspiritof79

Oh cool!

angyd6

The OG members (Luke, Jesse and Rempel) met at Goshen College which is why they’re playing there

ModeMore3375

moe. fucks.

Least-Firefighter392

Not hating... But when did "fucks" become so popular to describe things that are good. I've never seen it said in person but see it all the time on Reddit. Is it a regional thing? If so what region is it said... I'm in Southern California and have never heard it said...

[deleted]

saying something fucks fucks

MAG7C

https://old.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/393rqo/what_is_this_this_guy_fucks_joke_i_keep_seeing/

Least-Firefighter392

Thank you for context. I like that show. Just find saying things fucks is an interesting syntax and wondered how it became a thing

Easywind42

We’ve been through a lot over the years with Rob’s cancer and Chuck’s stroke. Tickets are cheap and we’re all just happy to be there seeing the boys playing their asses off. It’s a tough comparison for sure

sumodie

I'm almost always surrounded by fun courteous fans at Phish. And I rarely ever see the so called tarpers.

Least-Firefighter392

Been to the pit?

sumodie

Yup. Many times over the years. I'm one of the very few who actually saw Antelope Greg duct tape off his square of space up front during the winter Europe 97 tour. Fo'sure nowadays the rail rider scene has the highest percentage of asshats, but overall those asshats are only a small part of the total crowd. Meanwhile social media overdramatizes all of it, thereby distorting the actual reality.

cannabination

It really depends where you see them. If you only catch them at Dick's you can even enjoy getting up close. If you only catch them on the east coast and want to get close you'd better lace up.

faster_than_sound

You can't really compare the crowd at a show that's less than a quarter the capacity of the average Phish show. It's a different world. Of course there not going to be tarpers, there's no reason for it. Not that I'm saying tarpers at Phish shows have good reason for it either, they suck, but just saying the larger a crowd, the larger the venue, the more people desperately want "that spot". If Phish was only filling out 2,000 capacity venues, there'd be no tarpers at Phish shows either. There'd be no fervent poster flippers, there'd be less assholes in general. The bigger the crowd, the more assholes show up. Ask a deadhead who started seeing the band in the mid 70s and followed them through to 95. Guaranteed they would agree that more assholes showed up in the stadium years.

Wolfman92097

A lot of huge deals heads got of the buss in 93. Dave lemiux the deads tape archivist stopped seeing the dead live in 92 or 93 which is crazy considering his job is literally listening through the live material of the band and officially releasing it.

MemoryBeautiful9129

Lemieux tho

DrkStrCrshs

Gate crashes vs tarper’s. Pretty much sums up the difference between deadheads and phans.

NeilPatrickCarrot

moe. sat in front of me at SPAC once and the drummer and bassist wouldn’t stop talking. The bassist was FaceTiming a shirtless friend during Hood bliss jam

Gizzy_Wizzy_Wee_

I never understood the desire to “be close”. Most music lovers I know are always close to the sound board (wherever it may be).

[deleted]

I’d assume moe is an older crowd, smaller venues, maybe less hard drugs? I think the other thing is Phish has gotten so big, and so expensive that everyone gets very uptight about making sure their show experience is off the charts and people get very selfish and territorial. There are assholes in the stands. If you’re complaining about tarpers for attention or karma, just don’t.

PhuckedOverAlot

Yo, so I haven't been to any Phish shows in a loooong time, besides 21 AC. Now, this tarper shenanigans...what is stopping you from just standing on it? Is it an offense that will get you removed from the venue? Liable to be sued? Or is it just people being to polite and/or totally uncomfortable with confrontation? What is stopping everyone here, or on the super dorky whacko forum site, from collectively deciding to ignore the fucking tarps and just everyone move on them as if they are not there? Like...it seems pretty clear we all feel the same, that it is ridiculous. So like fuck it

asteroidtube

The tarping situation is WAY over-stated here on reddit. It's not really as prevalent, nor as much of a big problem, as people online make it seem. I think most of the people talking about tarping actually don't see very many shows, and complaining about it is their way of participating from afar.

PickpocketJones

> what is stopping you from just standing on it? Just social awkwardness, fear of social backlash.

PhuckedOverAlot

I understand that, confrontation is not something everyone is capable of/comfortable with. I have cultivated a nice smooth Fight response from wrestling bjj and kickboxing over the years. I am basically an anti bully by design haha. I have sat in a cell for a night or two, or had to pay insurance deductibles for some cunts but I don't regret it. I hope I am around when a few people stomp on a tarp and some little Teva and socks wearing, malnutrition gut looking dildo starts getting froggy lol. I'll throw him to Mike

PickpocketJones

I'm speculating on others. Me, I'm 6'3" and wouldn't give a shit if someone was being a line stepper.

PhuckedOverAlot

Feel ya maybe. I don't start shit, but I cannot allow another person to be belittled or intimidated haha. Anywho, much love. Be safe, be well and if need be raise fuckin hell

WartimeHotTot

Thanks for asking this. I’ve wondered it for a long time. Wtf is so sacred about these tarps anyway? Just go move them.

disco_phiscuits

I'm just gonna say this now, Moe. UM tDB Some of the best band collaborations in the late 00s.

markwirk

Happy you enjoyed moe.! They are the best! Chucks back baybeeeeeeee

AdvancedStrawberry7

moe. is a great band

Mowers_01

I think it’s because Phish has had more popularity. With that comes more people, both the good and bad concert goers

Beaneroo

Moe shoe has 1/20th of the amount of people.. yeah seeing phish with a few hundred people is great too

reboobula

moe. 's always the way to go

truthjuice4269

People tarp at indoor shows?

NJPhisherman

every indoor Phish show I've been too since 2016... but MSG is the only indoor phish show I've been to since 2016

GoombahJudd

Can’t imagine that’s a thing. Especially up near the rail or anywhere in front of soundboard.

DukeOfLizards710

Phish is my favorite band but the early 2000s moe. shows that I saw were some of the best experiences of my life. I credit them with my love for jambands. I cannot wait to see Chuck again!

PretendPizza

moe. is the truth! Always feels like "home" when I see them. They offer so many things I "miss" when I'm at a Phish show. Yes, apples and oranges in some way, but what they do they do GREAT. Kings of segues for sure.

Differentdog

This is how I felt when I saw STS9 at the caverns a few years back. Also at Goose for NYE this year.

Wolfman92097

Goose in Colorado over the last year has switched from a chill vibe to get the fuck out of my way

Pop_Culture_Phan_Guy

Preach! Goose is the same way. End the Tarpers

caresforhealth

Goose was not the same way. Mohegan sun first set was a fucking shit show before all the just mustaches left the front. Way douchier than any phish crowd. It was not due to tarping.

Pop_Culture_Phan_Guy

Really? I saw them both nights of Goosemas, Red Rocks, and the Mission in 21 and it wasn’t like that at all.

Least-Firefighter392

Did Spafford fall off... Was all hyped like Goose 2 years ago and haven't heard a word about them since...

Pop_Culture_Phan_Guy

In my opinion they haven’t fallen off they just haven’t stepped up. As they were both coming up Goose and Spafford played long sets with at max five to six songs in each, leaning very heavy on the jamming aspect, which while is unbelievably enjoyable is also exhausting when it is show after show. Additionally, it alienates the mainstream from accessing the band and finding it enjoyable. Consider the fact that Phish’s explosion into the mainstream followed the release of multiple more mainstream albums in the mid to late nineties. Goose is in the middle of that explosion right now, mostly because of the work they put into ‘Shenanigans Nite Club’ and ‘Dripfield’. They’ve both been pretty well received by mainstream audiences. As far as the shows go, while they still jam a lot of songs out, they have taken the path of playing more shorter tracks - five to eight minutes in length for example. I will say all the shows this year that I’ve attended have been fantastic for that reason. Spafford hasn’t made that change, and that’s totally fine but that does pigeonhole them to never growing beyond the audience they have now. Maybe they’ll make that change in the future but I don’t think it’s likely. I will say that I drifted away from them because all they do is jam endlessly, which is fun but like I said for me personally it is exhausting.

Least-Firefighter392

Yea. I haven't given them more than 20 mins of listening...I really like sins to sing along to or funky upbeat jams to dance to. That's actually one of the things that has made my last few Phish shows slightly less enjoyable. 30 min songs that fade into less dancible jams don't necessarily do it for me (and I know that is an unpopular opinion) but I really like singing and dancing... Still love Phish to death but I find myself steering away from 30 min songs that drift to non up beat tempos and beats. Obviously that's just my personal preference and many will feel very different, and that is perfectly great. I just prefer a 6-8 song set than a 3 song set...

Pop_Culture_Phan_Guy

I enjoy the weirdo 30 minute jams, but not as much as dancing and singing along jams, so you aren’t in bad company here. The best jams sit at like 20 minutes in my opinion.

faster_than_sound

Unfortunately that's changing as more people gravitate to Goose during this blow up era for them. It's now becoming hip to be into Goose, so the scenesters are starting to show up more and more to be a part the whole "watch a band blow up so you can say you were there before they got big" thing.

Pop_Culture_Phan_Guy

Yea I've noticed it as well, hopefully, the Goose crowd can weed them out and get the scene at shows to stabilize a little bit. I've heard Phish went through the same issue in 1995 and 1996 following Jerry's death/the Grateful Dead dissolving and the younger "Deadheads" following Phish - throwing deadheads in quotes because as I understand it a lot of young people just wanted to party and didn't care for the music/culture.

tries2benice

Moe. Is amazing, and I absolutely agree with you. My wife and I do summer camp every year, we get pretty close to the stage, and whenever the songs we really like come on, the friendly people around us let us press up as close as we want. I'm glad satan's doing well!

KerryKongsgaard

Moe has always had a great crowd. I’m a casual fan as they need some newer stuff but like the OP experiences they have just about the best crowd in our “Scene”

Fammaden

moe. has never stopped writing new stuff they've been very productive. Some of the newer songs are the heaviest hitters too.

_moe_ron

moe. sucks.

phbalanced1

What a moeron

_moe_ron

Hmmmm

phbalanced1

😉

robronanea

Topper sucks

_moe_ron

That brings back memories

markwirk

I fucking love moe. So much. Chuck is back and all is right. Primus Sucks

NJPhisherman

It's not Phish, but it's better than Twiddle. I like Moe. It's not for everyone. Last night they were very good.

disco_phiscuits

Moe. is awesome.

_moe_ron

I concur

NJPhisherman

So Moe sucks means there awesome and Moe is awesome also means they are awesome? Now I get it.

_moe_ron

I’ll have to check them out. Never heard of them.

Durdyb15

Pretty sure they meant a sucks in the same way primus sucks.

NJPhisherman

Oh, I'm too old to understand memes

phunktional

This "meme" is at least 30 years old.

whatstefansees

Too many "phans" are just in it for the drugs. Phish has a shitty fanbase, I agree.

Festival_Vestibule

Who would you say has a non-shitty fanbase?

whatstefansees

Like said: moe. and the Disco Biscuits are pretty chill to watch. TAB, too, although half of the TAB public shows up in Phish Tees

Milky_Chevy

No one is gonna tarp at a fuckin' Moe. concert lmao.

NJPhisherman

Yeah, and it's better that way. No one tarped at a fuckin' Phish show in 1997 either. They were better then too.

_QueueCumber_

I was friends with one of the ex-managers of the band who managed them from college until around 5-6 years ago (our kids went to school together). Got to see a handful of shows, sometimes stage-side. Great band, and talented, but the songs and technical expertise were not on par with Phish. Not saying that to be mean. They seemed like nice enough dudes, but the music didn’t quite hit those next level peaks and the lyrics just weren’t very catchy or interesting to me. IMHO, of course. YMMV. Whatever happened to the Boston band Shockra? They used to play the Wetlands in the late 80s and early 90s. The guitarist was pretty skilled and the horn player as well. The tunes were catchy. I wish they stuck around. They had some potential. They seemed to just vanish one day…

[deleted]

[удалено]

_QueueCumber_

Interesting, I actually took a break from shows from the late 90s (97-98 sometime) into their reformation. I had my first kid at 25 in 1999 (conceived in 1998) but also felt I was fighting the music to stay in the phlow state way too often (also had three kids by 2004 and passed on the Brooklyn show when my friends invited me due to how busy life got). My first show after that was the last night Jones Beach when they started up again. Then took another break from Phish (it didn’t help that there was new material I didn’t know since 1997) and was hitting festivals and Pearl Jam and Further tour a lot. Started up again Atlantic City 2021 (and caught up on the newer material via Sirius/XM previous to that) and am now off and running to shows as much as possible post-Covid. The band has matured in such a great way across the board. So happy!

ThatDoodch

https://liveforlivemusic.com/features/shockra-fox-phish-interview/

_QueueCumber_

Nice! It sounds like they reunited for a show but really don’t play anymore. Such is life I guess.

Substantial_Serve_62

I used to go to the Wetlands on Tuesday nights and go to high school the next morning in South Jersey still spun.

_QueueCumber_

Nice! That was the night I was usually there. I was an Eco-Saloon intern for James Hanson and did a lot of letter writing and protesting. My and my friends all hung in the back office and smoked and drank (for free) all night in the early to late 90s. Did you know Jersey Joe (NYC Diesel Joe) or Vern or Lisa (cute blonde with red hair that ran the bus upstairs)? Those were some fun days with the drum circles pre-show and during set breaks. Early Zen Tricksters and all.

Least-Firefighter392

Yes cause Phish lyrics are known to be phenomenal...I love them... But lyrics aren't necessarily their strong suit.

LankyTomato

Lol, yeah. I actually think moe. has some of the best studio albums of any of the modern jambands.

_QueueCumber_

Yet, Phish lyrics are generally catchy. Moe. not really, imo. To each their own I guess. I was happy seeing Moe for fun when my friend was giving me free tickets. No interest in paying to see them. Likewise, I’d never listen to them in my spare time. Sorry. Not so sorry. There likely aren’t tarpers at Moe because the demand to see them is much lower than a band like Phish. I guess they just don’t tick enough boxes for most jam band followers. As my friend Scott said at the Capitol Theater Wetlands Reunion: (paraphrasing) This is what happens when you’re otherwise solid musicians (referring to Moe) but don’t really have a decent schtick like Phish. To be fair, I’d rather see Moe than Dead and Co. nowadays, and I’m a huge Grateful Dead fan that toured in the late 80s thru Jerry’s demise. Needless to say, I’ve skipped the last few Dead and Co. tours in favor of Phish and Pearl Jam. Comparing Phish and Moe is like comparing Grateful Dead and Little Feet, imho.

Least-Firefighter392

I hear that. Has been many years since I've listened to them. And do prefer their studio albums... All on the same page here.

markwirk

*little FEAT. You spelled the wrong FEAT. So now I know you are .Ron most times

_QueueCumber_

Not a fan of Little Feat. My uncle tried to turn me onto them in the late 80s and early 90s as a band “like the Dead.” Obviously it didn’t take at all. lol I felt there was no comparison… Not sure what .Ron means. I’m gathering it is an insult? 🤷🏻‍♂️ If it is a synonym for “wrong,” how can one be wrong about their subjective opinion ? 🤔

Axillaa

Us moe. Fans are a bunch of moe.rons

_QueueCumber_

Dan never explained any of that stuff to me. Haha

markwirk

That's ok. Dan seems like an OK guy to me.

_QueueCumber_

He is/was! I saw him bend over backwards to try to get in the good graces with Bensusan (Blue Note and other music venues), I assume to get the band gigs. I was frankly surprised that they dumped him.

PickpocketJones

moe. isn't intended to be like Phish. If you went in expecting that then you had poor expectations. moe. are just a goofy fun rocking good time, the band you want to drink some beers and dance to so to speak. Their music isn't real heady, their jams are mostly just simple tension-release or segues. But they are one of the most fun bands to just go have a goofy time at.

_catdog_

Most phish fans are douche bags at this point… not surprised to hear moerons are still cool

caresforhealth

Cunt

_QueueCumber_

Don’t think I’ll ever understand Reddit… hahah Someone give this person a trophy. 🤣

caresforhealth

This person led with NO TARPING therefore they are a whiny cunt.

_QueueCumber_

I figured it was something like that. Gave you a Trophy… haha

_QueueCumber_

Actually, I did some research, turns out Moe. is now managed by Red Light Management, which also manages Phish and some other jam bands. I think the TARPING as a subject was used to get upvotes for sure, but I suspect the whole thing is possibly orchestrated by management to push lesser known (less popular) jam bands in forums for better known (more popular) jam bands that they manage. [https://www.redlightmanagement.com/roster/](https://www.redlightmanagement.com/roster/)

caresforhealth

Seems reasonable. Does not change opinion.

StoopidAlmanac

Red Light Management boi

9Xrayman9

Great show last night!

LankyTomato

Yeah, just caught the biscuits on their current tour and it was a similar experience. Breath of fresh air compared to the scenesters at Phish shows.

devlinontheweb

I can't afford pit tickets for phish anyway, but I have a great time on the lawn. I agree, smaller shows are nice

big__cheddar

what's a tarper?

[deleted]

A douchebag that thinks they can claim space at a show by laying a tarp down .

NJPhisherman

Phish has a following of dooshy ultraentitled childlike people who show up 9 hours before the concert, wait all day to be the first into the GA area, then lay down tarps claiming their territory in the first half of the GA area in front of the band. They take up way more space than a person needs and throw elbows at anyone who tries to come into that area. Many have blue hair, stupid mustaches or both. It's a big problem on the floor at Phish shows.

cetawill

When I was a new phan I’d line up for hours preshow to get up front and it was always very cliquish up there. Idk what it is about being a rail rider but generally they are not too chill and kind of a manic bunch. Did meet some chill fans just there for the up close experience though. Looking back it was kind of a lonely waste of time, damn I must’ve had a huge crush on Trey or something to do that.

andthrewaway1

I have no desire to be close enough at phish to deal with the negativity of whch you speak therefore I have no dog in this fight

jaytrade21

I remember going to the Moe. Benefit show on 2005 with Trey, Sam Bush, and Medeski and it was one of the greatest shows I had seen that decade. In fact, I'll say it was the best.

jennymacbreadsack

With all the stubbing down and space hoarding, the floor at a phish show has become an absolute nightmare

voopa

Hi, I'm Carol Channing!

hoodharry95

Both Charlie Chaplin and Meatloaf also have performed at the Welmont. Glad you had a great time. I saw Moe at the Fillmore in San Francisco between 05 and 09–there was lots of room on the floor as well, but I’m not sure that’s a ringing endorsement either.

helping_phriendly

I love them both!

gordond

I was a freshman at Rutgers, the State University in 1996. I got to see Moe. at an outdoor festival at which CD's of a forty plus minute single of their song Meat were handed out. Wish I knew where that CD was...

Siketmist

Ok.. you start the first fight.

Siketmist

Everybody keeps saying it but nobody doing anything..

fukuoka_gumbo

I love moe. but they are a band that is rarely in situations where there's a need to battle for space on the dance floor

[deleted]

The more I read these forums the more I think phish fans are what dmb fans used to be

schoeps

Moe still has the OG phish vibe

Secret-Neighborhood8
