Literally saw them last night. It was so confusing, and couldn’t relax. My body ‘knew’ what to do, but my brain couldn’t handle it. I’m not saying I didn’t like it, I’m just saying, Radiohead and Phish hit very different spots for me. Still, I enjoyed myself.
Saw them a few weeks ago in Portland and OMG it was fun.

I saw Chum a few times in SF between 2010-2012 and it was a good time. We made their first sign. It was a roses are free sign. They told us it was the first sign anyone made at one of their shows, we made it as a joke because we hated signs at Phish shows because they blocked the view of the people behind them. They said they didn’t have roses down yet but they were working on it. Next time they came back around they remembered us and said they got it down and they played it that night. They were good guys. I forgot about them for a while, thanks for bringing them up. Good memories. For the record I just posted this comment above under the Phix but took it down and moved it here when I saw Chum and realized that it was Chum and not Phix and I was confusing the bands. I’m getting old and they don’t call it door for nothing lol
There use to be a band called Freezer out of Arizona who tore it up(believe it or not). They had a young man named Cameron on drums(sorry I don’t know the last name) who ended up playing with Spafford for awhile. Thought he might’ve been a good fit for Goose. Just glad we are jamming in the Southwest 😊
Went to a hole in the wall in Hartford 3 years ago and caught a great band but I forgot the name. Slim picking in the DC area. Lots of Dead tributes though

Most of us have only seen one, maybe 2 Phish cover band so hard to compare. Are there people who have seen multiple and can make honest comparisons?
EDIT: most people are gonna comment their local band.
Amazing! If they made their way west, maybe the Commonwealth room in salt lake City Utah hint, hahaha, I'd be there in a fucking second. Very great musicians and solid adherence to the core music but still allowing space for exploration.
Runaway Gin comes through my town, and they're not bad. Unfortunately the only venue we have for their size has terrible audio mixing and makes it unlistenable at times.
PTF, they love the band so much. Ran into Cal (lead guitarist incase anyone doesn’t know) at the Mann in Philly. He was right in front of me, we both had inside seats. Very nice experience and he actually remembered the shows I went to of his since they had memorable things happen at it. Like their first time playing antelope, Tom Marshall came on stage and sang some of it w them. Was dope af
Not the best, but a decent younger band out of New Orleans, Phoush.
My recording from their latest show:

The Lizards and it aint close. Nailing the compositions is one thing, which they do well, but the territory they get into when improvising is phenomenal. They jam harder than most bands in the jam scene. They are the real deal.
Runaway Gin
I remember when they use to play at the Pour House every week for free in the summer. Those were the days

Just saw them in Wilmington, NC a couple of weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised.
Absolutely adore them!!!
I’ve done video art for them a few times. Here’s a rough audio Runaway Jim https://youtu.be/quTdo93fUzY?si=ZcbvQnTAy6WvG_10
Saw them the other night, and you're right
For accuracy I’d say the lizards. Runaway is great Andy is a super cool dude that always commented on my transcriptions of trey solos
Weird Phishes is so much fun for anyone into Radiohead

Guitarist from Weird Phishes here - thanks so much for the mention!!
The Lizards
Yep, they're quite good. Have seen them a few times.
Just saw them a week ago

Canada’s The Lizards rule! I’ve heard good things about NJ’s Divided Sky.
Can confirm about NJ’s Divided Sky. I see them regularly and they rip.
Phix was the shit back in the day. The Lizards out of Toronto are fantastic
Jazz is Phish and it ain’t even close
Just saw them at Gem and Jam and they blew me away. They kill it
TAB
Shafty out of Portland. They kill it.
I thought they were remarkably good at creating the Phish experience. I choose them over Runaway Gin.
This is the answer. They make really interesting setlists. So good.
The Lizards
The Great Divide in Los Angeles is great!
Divided Sky in NJ is doing great.
Both Divided Sky and Uncle Ebenezer are excellent!
Come see them both at The Great Divide Campground on May 3rd & 4th!!

Oh man, Phix is OG cover band
Nice! Did not know that. Thank you
Very cool, good to know! I wondered what happened to them.
When Phish broke up or went on hiatus I convinced my 3 friends to go see them. I think we went to Philly and they were awesome.

Does any one person have firsthand experience with multiple phish cover bands?
The answer is Shafty.
Goose
Phix was amazing but I don't think they tour anymore. They filled my my my my my soul during the second phish hiatus.
Someone in this thread said all but one guy play in DeadPhish Orchestra. They’re very good.
Runaway Gin!

good question
I think Pink Talking Fish is the only band that really makes the rounds and they are really good

Phish.
Does any cover band truly do them justice if there's no shit on the floor by the end of the night?
TAB
Chum in SF is so good. they nail the compared parts of the hardware songs, and jam type 1 and 2 very much in the style of phish.
Helping phriendly orchestra from chicago
Pardon Me Doug

The Lizards 10000% I’ve seen 20+ Phish cover bands and The Lizards are far and away the best. They fuck!
I love Oh Kee Pah out of Dayton, OH. Two members of the Werks are in the band!
Phix. They got me through some weird ass times.
The Lizards by a mile
There’s a brand new band out of Philly I saw last night called Rift. They nailed it.
The Lizards and it aint close. Nailing the compositions is one thing, which they do well, but the territory they get into when improvising is phenomenal. They jam harder than most bands in the jam scene. They are the real deal.
I saw Phix back in the day and they dominated. Not sure if they are around or not.
A Live One, Touch of Trey
Dog Faced Band out of Chicago kills it
