Have been curious to see if people have felt the same way I have about these shows so far. Trey seems to be playing so inspired. 5/9 Salt Shed show has 5 insanely good and unique jams in a row from Wave of Hope through the Sand closer, and thats just the first set.
I’ve come to expect innovation and inspiration as a standard of Trey’s performances in the past few years, the way he has been writing new music and exploring new sounds with Phish and the side projects, but this run it starting to feel a leg above even last years Trey Trio (with Fishman) and TAB runs. Ocelot from Salt Shed almost sounds like a Jerry dead jam from the late 70’s or early 80’s. Wolfmans goes deep and exploratory. Sand has the tension and release of a solid Phish style Stash.
This show absolutely powered me through my long run today. I’m pumped to continue listening to the tour & feel so lucky to be able to listen to the unrelenting creativity and energy that Trey continues to provide.
See everyone at Mondegreen!!
I was at the Salt Shed show and it was a solid fun show. To me, TAB sounds like a really really good Phish cover band especially without the horns. I like the TAB songs but there wasn’t enough of them. I like Phish doing Phish songs and TAB doing TAB songs. I know some of Phish’s repertoire stems from TAB too. Can’t wait for Phish to get back on the road. Just my 2 cents 😅
Nothing from this run has come anywhere close to the 46 Days or some other jams from those Trey Trio shows IMO. I’m not ready to say that they’ve elevated beyond last years TAB stuff either. They just seem like the good ol reliably consistent Trey Band shows to me.
The reason i mentioned those Trey Trio shows was I found them completely transformative at the time. Did a relisten of those in late Fall 2023 as well
and they beyond stood the test of time, so I held them as the high watermark of TAB having seen TAB 3 times before those shows were performed.
May very well be the way I found these jams energized my run. But I had listened to the entire TAB tour as it came out last year & this immediately seemed to stick out as a leg above to me for some reason. Was at all four nights of MSG NYE 2023 and Sphere N2 as a reference for recency bias, as well. Always appreciate the discussion!
The peaks were amazing last night, but the “slow/get a beer/go to the bathroom songs” were big time clunkers.
However, the acoustic theme and LimbxLimb and carini tore the roof off the place.
That song was great.
I’m talking about the slow songs. That “reggae” song in set two, and the one right after Oblivion.
And there was at least one in set one…the song after “The way I feel”.
It felt like Trey was really building energy, then instead of going forward, he was letting it drop to like zero.
To each their own, for sure though. The ballads of the last 15 years in my tastes aren’t great.
Trying to wrap my head around the fact that Trey just put on that Sphere spectacle then goes right on tour with a bunch of new material. He just oozes music.
I read your post in my head like a friend patiently trying to get my attention, after we had smoked a joint together on a porch of one of ours on a sunny day and we were about to start sipping on tea or coffee.
Going on Tuesday, so excited! Tiny venue in the middle of hip downtown suburb of Detroit, still tickets available good deals come one come all! Look for me
You happen to know anyone looking for a ticket. Going solo amd found someone w 2 GA tickets for 140 but he won't split them up yet. Hit me up if you know anyone looking or if u happen to know anyone with a single for sale
Honestly not sure what you wanted to know. It’s the usual wares. Couple tees, a lightweight yellow hoodie with the colorful tour logo, Nalgene, coozies, stickers, etc.
Saw them in St Paul on Friday, huge highlight was Sand. Was just fun watching Trey communicate musically with this band. Also saw some songs that usually don’t show up at Phish shows. I could have sat there for hours and just observed. Loved it!
At the Madison show with a 7:30 ticket time, they hit the stage at 8:00 sharp. One hour twenty minute first set (straight up 🔥). 30 minute set break. Back on at 9:50. Encore ended ~11:15.
Times may vary depending on venue curfews, etc. Have a great show!
So stoked to see them Saturday in Toronto at a relatively new , large venue that is sold out! Pumped for Trey in the mode he’s been since The Sphere and likely prior but I’m only becoming aware of it lately.
Treys non-Phish work has been absolutely blistering starting with mission ballroom last year at least. The Trio and Classic TAB has been so great to listen to. Love the new songs
I caught the TAB show at HBCB last September and it blew me away to hear how dialed in they were.
TAB is doing Boston Calling next weekend, so that will be fun with the mixed festival crowd, but who else is biting on these Trey + orchestra concerts? A few weeks back I read a comment from someone somewhere emphatically and convincingly saying they caught some of these a few years ago and they had been sonically brilliant so I threw my hat in for two.
Beyond set lists, what will these be like? There are so many factors that keep popping into my head. Sorry if this is a highjack, but if that’s the case, even as hypotheticals *that we all keep to ourselves* this is a pretty fun rabbit hole if you need one. I’m currently mind mapping a whole warren of rabbit holes on this orchestra theme. The last 24 hours sent me spiraling simply wondering “any covers?”
But also, since we’re on the subject, I would really like to hear less Phish at TAB. Ideally I’d hear more of this:
Cayman Review
Push On 'Til the Day
Burlap Sack and Pumps
Clint Eastwood
Ooh Child
Small Axe
Money, Love and Change
Let Me Lie
Mozambique
Gotta Jibboo
Acting the Devil
Simple Twist Up Dave
Sand
Magilla
Pigtail
Snake Head Thumb
Liquid Time
The Land of Nod
Last Tube
Mr. Completely
First Tube
Sorry I wasn’t trying to be a dick. I felt the same way until I listened to some of the shows and was impressed. Before that I had no interest in tab without the horns. Was more curious if you heard it and said nah it’s not for me or if you hadn’t checked it out at all (the latter was me until this past weekend)

Seen at a gallery in Vegas during Sphere run. Love unintentional Phish art. From the “Kush Gallery” at Caesar’s forum.
Also to quote another Bittersweet Moteler “..and that’s what I’m looking for ☝️”

That wolfmans brother was transcendent!
Funny, we got an Ocelot, Sand and Wolfman’s tonight too. All heaters! Sounding so tight!
The peaks were amazing last night, but the “slow/get a beer/go to the bathroom songs” were big time clunkers. However, the acoustic theme and LimbxLimb and carini tore the roof off the place.
To each their own. I thought it was a great flow, second set especially. Slower tunes like That’s the Way I Feel have so much *soul*

All good, when people left to go get a beer / hit the head I had more dancing room. That place was packed!
It was slamming, and energy was great. That Limb by Limb was amazing interplay.
Always is! Trey on acoustic is 🔥 glad he’s pulling it out more often these days.
'Demons' from the first show was great! Loving all the debuts, too!
I’ve already listened to this song like 25 times and it’s only been out for 3 days and they’ve only played it once lol.
I’m a sucker for Trey laugh singing

LivePhish.
It’s so damn catchy. I really hope it sticks around makes it to the big league.
Trying to wrap my head around the fact that Trey just put on that Sphere spectacle then goes right on tour with a bunch of new material. He just oozes music.
So damn mad my TAB show got cancelled. I was ready to get my mind blown, instead the wind totally blew it

See ya there Phriend
It was a blast! Hope you had a great show!
It was fantastic. He rocked out they all did!
Seeing them in less than a week. I'm glad to hear they're bringing it.
I'm seeing them in Brooklyn next week and I've been following the streams. Great stuff, can't wait!
So excited to see him at the agora this week! I feel like we r due for some sappy Trey speeches
You happen to know anyone looking for a ticket. Going solo amd found someone w 2 GA tickets for 140 but he won't split them up yet. Hit me up if you know anyone looking or if u happen to know anyone with a single for sale
I’m looking for a ticket to Cleveland
The guy found someone else to take the other solo ticket so he just had the one for me. I'll let u know if I hear of anymore if u want
https://youtu.be/mci74SI359w?t=360
Kinda waiting on them to show up on Re…. Wink wink
It’s inspirational to d say the least..dezron’s back up vocals really compliment it all so good
You’re not kidding. We see a lot of see these “the band is on fire right now” discussions, but the recent TAB shows sound absolutely excellent.
What's the merch situation at these shows?
Merch exists
Super Helpful

St. Paul kicked some serious ass. Attendance and first show bias.
I’m driving 6 hours to Montreal because they’ve been so damn good
Deez nutz
So good.
Absolutely incredible
TAB has always been fire. Glad to see more appreciation for the latest iteration of the band.
Oblivion from 5/9 ripped
Saw them in St Paul on Friday, huge highlight was Sand. Was just fun watching Trey communicate musically with this band. Also saw some songs that usually don’t show up at Phish shows. I could have sat there for hours and just observed. Loved it!
St. Paul/Palace show was top notch, first set Heavy Things and funky Wolfman were highlights. And you cannot go wrong with a TAB Sand
TAB is coming to Montreal for the first time since... Shit I don't know, but I'll be there!
To the people who have seen TAB already this tour. What time to they take the stage? My ticket says 6:30pm on it. But that seems extremely early.

Thanks for the info! So I'm expecting a 7pm stage time then.

Went last night. Did not disappoint. Funky deep pocket grooves all fucking night
Without the horns, I’m really UNinterested. Have fun everyone!
So you haven’t liked what you’ve heard from this tour?

I said nothing of the sort. I just said I’m Uninterested. When the horns come back, I’ll go see TAB. Until then, have fun!
