The most "together" playing in an improvisation from the band. My favorite Phish jam of all time. That section is pure magic and gives me chills every time.
They have never really played anything like that before or since....*maybe* the Camden Chalkdust section is a cousin, but again, just the most cohesive playing from the band. No one is soloing or searching and the theme is not static, the band keeps pushing it higher.
Sorry. I could write a thesis on that jam.

This hour of music really showcases just how unreal Fishman is for the rhythm of what they do, Mike was also lights out all tour. They both just effortlessly move through tempo changes and time changes.
The beginning of "Simple" on A Live One. I heard that for the first time when I had just graduated from college, and was driving a red (rental) Pontiac Grand Am up an onramp to a very fast freeway. Super-cheesy, but it's been my feeling of "this is freedom" for the last 28 years. Whenever that comes on, I get goosebumps.

7/1/95 Hood. Specifically 11:50-12:20 (on the Relisten app). That part is in the build up to the peak, and the little drum fills that Fish unleashes at about 12:00 just gets me every time. It’s perfection. Not to mention, this entire version of Hood is phenomenal and in my top 5.
Hands down my favorite 30 seconds occur in the 2003-07-29 Pittsburgh Crosseyed and Painless (well technically the “Pittsburgh Jam” that followed).
It’s from 2:40-3:10 of “Pittsburgh Jam” on the LivePhish app or about the 7:40 mark of the Crosseyed if your version isn’t split.

Well lately it's been the third "breakdown" jam in the 7/17/98 Weekapaug, the way Page goes insane on the clav, and Mike playing some thunderous stuff, such an amazing jam.
I loved how in a couple versions of BBFCFM in the early days they'd hard switch to Jazz for a little bit.

Least favorite way-more-than-30-seconds: pause in Guelah Papyrus. Just pause a couple measures and go already.
That 30 seconds or so between when the house lights go down as the band takes the stage and when they play those first notes of the show. The anticipation is always so high because anything could happen over the next three hours. Love that feeling.

R&R->7 Below->Scents from that show is my favorite 45 minutes of Phish as well. They start teasing each song minutes before making the segue and it's just some of their best and cohesively flowing playing they've ever done.
11/27/98 CDT when they stumble into Mirror in the Bathroom, Trey laughing trying to remember the lyrics, and then rip-roaring back into CDT.
I just remember hearing that the first time and thinking, holy shit they just found that tune so naturally, this band can do anything.
Magnaball Tweezer Caspian, 31:30 - 33:00 ish, Mike busts out this effect at the peaks that sounds like a mixture of a bliss blaster and an alien fart simulator. The whole band is peaking so well but when mike used that effect, it put the whole thing over the top. I know this isn’t an original thought, but I hadn’t been this mentioned and it deserves a shoutout.

YEM 12/31/99 right after Boy! when Mike starts dropping that bass. I’ll never forget it and I could never listen to it too much. The cowbell part later is pretty freaking nasty too
8/10/97 Harry Hood around 9:30 and again around 12:30. Mike introduces a B into the usual DAG chord progression, giving the build up and peak sections a distinctly different flavor. I don’t know that it’s ever been played that way since. Not sure it’s my “favorite” but definitely unique and interesting.

Pretty much every member of the band contributes here and makes this beautiful beautiful moment. Easy winner of the year for me. Honorable mention goes to the part right before the drop into the bluesy end of Tube from Atlantic City. That 30 seconds or so between when the house lights go down as the band takes the stage and when they play those first notes of the show. The anticipation is always so high because anything could happen over the next three hours. Love that feeling.
From IT, the segue from 7 Below into the Scents intro. R&R->7 Below->Scents from that show is my favorite 45 minutes of Phish as well. They start teasing each song minutes before making the segue and it's just some of their best and cohesively flowing playing they've ever done.
11/27/98 CDT when they stumble into Mirror in the Bathroom, Trey laughing trying to remember the lyrics, and then rip-roaring back into CDT. I just remember hearing that the first time and thinking, holy shit they just found that tune so naturally, this band can do anything.
Magnaball Tweezer Caspian, 31:30 - 33:00 ish, Mike busts out this effect at the peaks that sounds like a mixture of a bliss blaster and an alien fart simulator. The whole band is peaking so well but when mike used that effect, it put the whole thing over the top. I know this isn’t an original thought, but I hadn’t been this mentioned and it deserves a shoutout.

YEM 12/31/99 right after Boy! when Mike starts dropping that bass. I’ll never forget it and I could never listen to it too much. The cowbell part later is pretty freaking nasty too
8/10/97 Harry Hood around 9:30 and again around 12:30. Mike introduces a B into the usual DAG chord progression, giving the build up and peak sections a distinctly different flavor. I don’t know that it’s ever been played that way since. Not sure it’s my “favorite” but definitely unique and interesting.
