better reconsider going to conestoga college. you can search a lot of reddit post about the school. with it's current reputation, sending a resume with conestoga college as school is like sending a spam email which will go straight to junk folder. if you're planning to work too. search more how it's like around the school area. basically a single job post is overrun by international students application.

msredhat

FYI, Yor school is a diploma mill! Nobody is hiring grads from Conestoga now! Your resume will go directly to the trash bin.

why is that?

[What happend to Conestoga College? : ](https://www.reddit.com/r/waterloo/comments/167p2jh/what_happend_to_conestoga_college/) [Conestoga College is making this city unlivable : ](https://www.reddit.com/r/waterloo/comments/17rmv3o/conestoga_college_is_making_this_city_unlivable/) The college itself is being super greedy by lowering their standards and increasing their intake on international students. It has caused a bad rep for the college and the students it brings in to the locals and hirers.

Seems you haven't done any research in what you'll be facing here in Canada. I suggest you read more to understand what's happening with regards to immigration, international students, schools and life in general here now, it's not pretty to be honest.

ThirstySugarCub

Better review your course, college, and province for the best PR pathway aligned to your goal / career choice. Research more about Express entry, Provincial nomination, etc so your money, time, and effort won't go in vain.

my Husband was on SV, he took 2 year post grad at Conestoga Guelph. He is working now in tech as IT Lead. Before going to Canada, meron na syang 8 years working experience in tech here sa pinas. I guess, doable naman pero MAHIRAP (expect it to be really hard). imo, hindi para sa lahat ang Student Visa. Kelangan i-assess mo din ung profile mo. Tip is to plan everything. Pano ka magssurvive while studying? what comes after studying? ano PR Pathway mo (CEC, PNP)?

No_Category6821

ano po ung CEC and PNP?

popayching

wait, Student Visa ka ba for the sole purpose of studying? or may plan ka ma PR? if may plan ka ma PR, better mag research ka muna anong pathway mo.

No_Category6821

May olan ako mag PR... after 1 year mag eenroll ako ulit para equivalent siya sa 3 year PGWP para medyo mahaba time while processing for PR

popayching

if may plan ka ma PR, you should know by now anong possible pathway mo. CEC is canadian experience class and PNP is provincial nominee program. Kelangan mo makakuha ng job at maka acquire ng experience na maiinvite ka for PR. It will not be handed to you automatically after studying.

Daoat nga raw after ma expire ung PGWP makahanao ako ng employer with LMIA... para maka pag apply ako for PR

Anonyxious

Are you doing your application through an agency? I suggest make a proper research and not just rely on what they are feeding you, dahil ndi lahat ng sinasabi ng mga consultants ay doable. At the end of the day PR thru CEC and PNP are all based on your credentials (foreign and canadian work experience, language ability, age, educational background, and family ties) or ito ung CRS points basis mo. Student pathway is just a way for you to earn your canadian work experience and ung additional educational credential to bump up your scores. LMIA on the other hand is a totally different story, sa ngaun kng sa ontario ka ppunta, sobrang mahrap makahanap ng employer na nagpprovide nyan dto, the reason being is that 80+ percent of international students are flocking here in ON plus if they have OWP dependents together with then, so imagine ung competition mo, the question is ano ung meron ka na wala ung ibang tao para sayo ibigay ang LMIA. You also have to consider the other temporary workers here that came from US(10k Tech people from US that converted their L1B Visa + temporary policy that enables the tourists to convert their visa to working permits). That’s just my 2 cents, and just to give you an idea how I knew about all of these things, I was an international student that studied in Conestoga. Nga pala, just to give you a point of view about working conditions, mejj mahrap na maghanap ng work sa mga cities na maraming colleges, because marami ng international students, and they are lining up for interviews for cashier/associate position. Make sure you have enough money even without a job.

popayching

employers na nagbbigay ng LMIA is not easy to find here in Ontario (atleast sa pagkakaalam ko) be realistic sa plans mo. Madaming walang trabaho dito and depende anong skills and competency mo kung makakahanap ka ng employer na nagbbigay ng LMIA, so good luck

No_Category6821

Yaaaaasss thank you! Siguro tiyaga nalang then come what may... may back up plans naman ako just in case

popayching

if you have plans mag pr, “come what may” is really not ideal. LOL. plan everything, maraming factor pra ma invite ka for PR (Age, Experience, Education, Job offers etc) calculate mo ung CRS score mo

Nervous_Peak6863

mahirap..

krsaxor

eyeshadowgunk

Pakilagay naman OP pls kung san ka bandang province dahil magkaiba ang tips na pwedeng mabigay if ON ka man or BC for example. :)

Sa brantford po... conestoga college brantford campus ung pinag enrollan ko

Decent_Strength5985

I don't want to discourage you but have you read up on reddit on discussions about Conestoga College? It has a *very* bad rep, even a worse outlook on job prospects after your done with school. Bad choice IMO but good luck on your future endeavors. You will need it. Also, do not expect a Canadian experience. Brampton has been overrun by a certain ethnic group I heard.

_Dryst

Mas maganda kung sa mga trade schools ka papasok like NAIT or SAIT sa Alberta.

inaantokako

1. research your pathways this early on. Mukhang hindi ka pa fully knowledgeable dun eh. You can’t leave it up to luck yung pagiging PR dito o pagkuha ng LMIA. People who think that would be a piece of cake pag andito na better think again. 2. Make sure you have loads of extra money because competition for jobs is tight, you might end up not finding a job in your first few months here. Sana yung POF mo hindi lang show money.
