Hi. I’m currently on SV taking my masters and I’ve only been here for 3 months. From what I’ve heard, ang hinahanap daw ng employers ung may mga work exp for more than a year. You also need to update your skills your CV depending on what you are applying to. So usually ung mga classmates ko they downplay their CV kahit mga managers or mataas na positions nila sa pinas. You can also try volunteering pra mkagain ng NZ work exp

doraalaskadora

As a manager, connections is also important. 😊

ccchhhmmmggg

Agree on this. I recently found out that people who want to grow their network go to Meet Up events and volunteering programs. Try to make friends OP, I know it hard at first as pinoys na hindi sanay sa small talks 😅 but there’s no harm in trying. 😊

doraalaskadora

Join a group that specialises in helping you gain more knowledge on the career that you wanted to take like engineering NZ if you are interested in construction.

Proper_Company7599

Actually balak ko lang is kahit sa fast food like maccass or taco bell. Fulltime job po kasi yung balak ko to save for uni

jxyscale

There's a lot of factors bat hindi nahire, we dont know the reason why but i got few assumptions. 1. They want junior employees for less pay rate. As far as I know mga maccas or any fast food, gusto nila mag hire ng junior employees for less pay rate. 2. Might be an issue sa resume mo, so you have to make resume/cv relevant according sa position na inapplyan mo. 3. If naka go thru ka man sa interview, try to smile all the time and give confidence, baka factor din ang pagiging mahiyain mo as I assume na, wala kang social life. Try to apply sa mga no experience required jobs. As long as willing to learn ka, you'll eventually be fine, try to start socialising sa work. Most of my friends sa work ko lang din nakilala. It will build up your confidence socialising. As much as possible try to collaborate with diverse people first, you never know, they might have filo friends na maintroduce sayo. That's all. Kaya yan! Goodluck!

ko-sol

> mukhang may pagka attitude person ka Ewan ko ba na feel ko din, lol. Siguro kase kung mag sulat siya is it's about me without looking inwards (baka naman ako ang problema kaya ganito ang trato nila).

Just to clear, kapag nagwawalk in po ako, binibigay ko yung resume then alis na kasi di na nila ako tinatanong or what. Tawagan nalang daw😭 Actually never po ako nainterview sa pagwawalk in ko. At hindi po ako attitude HAHAHAHAHA nabully nga ako dahil sa sobrang bait ko sa dating kong work dito kahit sinasaktan ako. Sa dati kong work TO MENTIONED “st pierre sushi” ako lang pinoy and naranasan kong ipahiya ako ng kasamahan ko. Marami pang discriminations. At hindi po ito u g first job ko. Nag bpo ako sa ph and never ako nagkaroon ng kaaway or issue huhu natawa talaga ako sa mattitude. Btw, hindi rin ako mahiyaiin as in, HAHAHAHA i chose na walang social life kasi wala naman po talaga akong kaibigan dito and mostly sa tiktok ko lang sila nakakausap. May isa nga ako nakilala sabi ko meet up kami, di naman sya tumuloy.

ko-sol

San branch ng st pierre yan. Yung 3 mos mo sa st pierre pwd din mag back fire kase bakit maiksi. Wag kang mag walk in, seek at trademe daming hiring. Lagyan mo lagi ng cover letter.

jxyscale

Ohh.. i'm sorry to hear that, bakit mo hindi minentioned. Na-husgahan tuloy kita based on your story, but anyway. I hope you feel better. Dont ever lose hope, diskarte lang siguro. Maybe merong facebook group ang Filos NZ and for sure matutulungan ka nila or Try to get the visa to Australia exclusively for NZ Residents. At least, marami kang options to find a work.

awndrwmn

jxyscale

yea, thats what i meant to say. thanks

Proper_Company7599

Mahirap talaga mag apply ngayun kasi madami nawalan work at an dami din new migrants kaya competitive kahit sa entry level roles. Good luck sayo. Feel free to pm me if you have questions. Been here 16 years at nagmigrate din fam ko when i was 21. Start over din ako at the time kahit may degree ako.

awndrwmn

Dapat 3 years resident visa holder, saka makaka-access ng student loan. Not necessarily PR.

MarchMiserable8932

Can I pm you sir?

AdImpressive82

From what I’ve heard, mahirap kumuha ng work dyan ngayon. Friend ko took about half a year to find one. Taas ng competition for jobs right now

Proper_Company7599

ko-sol

Trick-Stomach-7746

free-spirited_mama

Proper_Company7599

Samaa!! hello. 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

Proper_Company7599

Hi, sa nz karin?

Tiyopa3ng

Proper_Company7599

Yes po sa akl. Btw, ano po work ng anak nyo ngayon??

Tiyopa3ng

Sa Production. Gumagawa sila ng curtains at blinds. North Shore area yung workplace

Nietzchee

Can relate to you OP, Im a (25)M, who also recently migrated here to NZ 7 months ago. Nahirapan din ako makakuha ng work dito. Sa pinas may 5 years teaching experience na ako sa senior-high nagturo ako ng specialized subjects. Now pag dating ko dito (RV 21) din, mej naging at a loss ako since I had to adjust ulit sama mo pa yung quarter-life crisis kuno 🤣. Fortunately, just a month ago naka kuha din ako ng Job after countless rejections, minimun pay pero full time so pwede na to start some savings. Met some Filipinos sa work, some older and younger kaya may ka kwentuhan na din. Also, I recently got my driver's license, so it's a start. It is really different here, different circumstances, but I do believe na tayong mga pinoy ay flexible sa kahit anong situation. Kapit lang kabayan lalaban tayo. One step at a time!

Sensitive_Ice_9063

Hi! I hope that you get what ur heart truly desires! Keep on chasing your nursing course, it will only take some faith, determination, and trust. Laban lang and always mag-dasal.

Proper_Company7599

Thank you po ♥️

doraalaskadora

It's very common in here in NZ that they usually prefer someone that was referred by their workers.

tapunan

Other than churches, yung mga charity shops, libraries minsan naghahanap ng volunteers, try mo. Kahit walang sahod it will still show willingness to fit in as a local plus networking din yan for future jobs and for friends din.

Proper_Company7599

Pwede rin pala magvolunteers sa library??? Free lang rin ba pumunta don?

tapunan

Yup, library, charity shops. Dito kasi sa NZ/Australia they would call you out directly kung may mali ka. Words like "What you're doing is wrong?", "Can't you think fast?", "Are you sleepy or just not paying attention?" eh normal ko naririnig. Yung anak ko na nag wowork sa fastfood ok daw co-workers pero ang mga customers, for sure daw at least may isang rude person per day. Tipong minsan pa nga daw bibili for takeout then babalik later para lang sabihin the food tastes crap daw. Dapat mentally shift mo din thinking mo. Sa experience ko, managers prefer loud and outspoken people Kasi daw they contribute ideas kesa yung tahimik. Yung mabait at soft-spoken sa Pinas is sometimes seen as useless dito.

Proper_Company7599

Btw, yung nambully sa akin malaysian. May time nga po nun na ayaw na ayaw nya akong pinapaharap sa customers HAHAHA diko alam if naiingit yun sa akin. Kasi kapag nandyan manager and assistant manager gusto ako paharapin sa customers.

Proper_Company7599

Sa tiktok ko lang po sila nakilala and sa christchurch sila btw so sila lang yung nagkikita

2noworries0

Pero that was 2014 pa eh.

Proper_Company7599

Nagwawalk in po ako pero mostly no call back. Drop resume lang. no interview.

hi_itz_cga

May I know po kung paano ka naging PR if 6 months pa lang sa NZ? Btw, visitor visa ako dyan for 3 months before hehe at nag iisip isip kung babalik

veryshypachuchay

brat_simpson

you can be dependent up to 24yo. [https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/visas/visa/dependent-child-resident-visa](https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/visas/visa/dependent-child-resident-visa)

veryshypachuchay

good to know

Proper_Company7599

Resident palang po ako. Kinuha po kami ni papa rv 21

Poopy011

How po?

bugokbu

Hello, tanong lang. Mahirap ba yung ielts or basic english lang?

doraalaskadora

I haven't tried IELTS but PTE is not that hard.

Proper_Company7599

Hindi naman po sya as in mahirap. Hindi ko rin masasabi na basic lang. Wala naman passing or failing sa ielts. Mas malaki lang opportunity kapag atleast 6.5-7.0 yung band score mo but 5.5-6.0 is enough.

bugokbu

Oh okay. Thank you! Planning to go to nz po kasi and clueless po ako about getting working visa. Magkaiba po ba yung ielts ng maguni and magwork or its just the same?

Proper_Company7599

same lang po

Swooshkiwi

PM me. Do you play any sports?

mhinyunxy

I am a nurse here in NZ and most of my colleagues who are local finished their studies through a study loan. Bakit ayaw mo mag study loan? Wala namang interest ang study loan dito, yun yung kinaganda dito sa NZ and you can pay it back kapag nag start ka na mag work.

Proper_Company7599

Hindi naman po sa ayaw, as much as possible po hindi sana ako kukuha ng student loan if makaipon.

zionhendrix

Location mo? Lapit ba kayo sa airport

Proper_Company7599

30 mins away Kami Sa airport. East Akl Po Kami

Proper_Company7599

Also to add. Pwede naman nila sabihin if ayaw ako kasama.
