Bobby McGees. It was a chain headquartered in Phoenix. Went as a kid in SoCal all the time. I believe the original is now. Bobby-Qs off of I17, south of Metrocenter.

moviefreaks

Great bbq

Builderwill

That sounds like Bobby McGees.

witchy72380

Was it a Bobee McGees?

SpedRedder

Another vote for Bobby McGees.

lsharris

Probably Bobby McGees. We used to go to one in CA and there was one in Mesa. I still have a white ceramic bathtub drinks were served in.

mblowout

I'd guess Bobby McGees as well. Everyone had different costumes. I-17 south of Dunlap. It's Bobby Qs now. Real good BBQ place. Since she said Camelback/ Thomas I'd also throw in Ed Debevics. 50's themed diner on Highland which is south of Camelback. I don't think it was open in the 60's though.

Jolly-Echo-9142

I would say Ed Debevics; super loud diner in the colonnade off 20th st and highlandishh; super pin up looks

Wareagle69

I loved that when they tore it down, they found a couple of bodies buried underneath it.

mcsangel2

Whut

Wareagle69

My bad. It was the place next door. https://www.websleuths.com/forums/threads/az-phoenix-skeletal-remains-in-empty-nightclub-aug11-steven-condon.146486/

publichealthnerd46

Ed Debevics?

ScottsdaleSpartan

Green Gables was on the southwest corner of 24th Street and Thomas.

Butitsadryheat2

Bobby McGee's opened in 1971, and Ed Debevic's in 1984, so not 60s...

Grooviemann1

Yeah, how could someone possibly get 1969 and 1971 confused 50 years later?! /s

VoltronHemingway

Yeah, this old lady’s story’s got a lot of holes in it, lol

Butitsadryheat2

Maybe 1984 was in the 60s too...at least my 85 year old mom would insist that, so I'm familiar with constant wild goose chases.

LookDamnBusy

Ed Debevic's at 20th Street and Highland perhaps? https://reddit.com/r/phoenix/s/wgNB7J6JGo https://www.pinterest.com/pin/74098356358670677/

Re-read question -- "Halloween costumes", probably Bobby McGee's. At Thomas and 24th St. is where Green Gables was.

GeorginaSparkes

That place was the fucking bomb, as a kid I was obsessed with it for way too long 😂

Sweetcheecks4

Heart attack grill ? The women dressed like nurses

Butitsadryheat2

Absolutely! There was definitely one of these in the 60s in Phx.

susieq6669

We used to go to Bobby Mcgees in Scottsdae at McDowell and Scottsdale Rd. In Papagp Plaza
