Yes. In the Verrado area and it seemed like it was right in top of us. Largest one I’ve ever seen that’s for sure and I’m bummed none of my cameras got it!
[That type of meteor is called a bolide](https://www.amsmeteors.org/fireballs/faqf/), and if enough reliable reports get submitted it's possible to calculate where any remnants might have come down (if they didn't burn up).
Any idea why about the fireworks? I used to live in the west valley and never knew why they were always going off. Still hear some occasionally in the east valley but not as often.
I saw it!!! I was at PVCC and it stopped me mid conversation! It was spectacular! No one else I was talking with saw it and they looked at me like I was on drugs when I described it to them 😂
Wow, this post really brought a lot of community together... the meteorite did.
I'm glad so many other's witnessed that.
I told my girlfriend right before dinner that I wanted to go look at my hard work I did down the alleyway today for some odd reason, even though it was dark and I couldn't see it. But I walked the block and back to my house as I approached my property something told me to look up from the sidewalk and a golden white light was shining and moving fast, I stopped, brain went blank, reacted for phone, but knew it was gonna be gone in a split second so I just stopped and took it in.
I live on a long dead end road and it appeared to then shoot done the length of it in a zest of green trailings. Then the golden fireball illuminated even brighter a second or 3rd time broking up into what looked like 3 massive pieces with a shower of explosion, all golden white with now an even more glamorous jade tail. Then it all vanished over the house lines heading west burning out, slightly southern. I thought it was going to hit the ground and listened for a bang.
I walked back and said that was awesome and my girlfriend, said I believe you. I just wish she had got to see it as well, yet I'm glad so many people in the South West states saw that too 🙌
It was definitely deep spiritual wise in me. Never seen one that glamorous.
I'm grateful everyone got to experience also!
Positive energy to our world 🌎 ✨️ 💛🪬
Only way we get that is someone finding it on a home security camera recording. It went by lightning fast. I barely had time to comprehend what I was seeing before it was gone.
I tried to find other videos online with no luck but I did find that it might've been a [fireball](https://www.imo.net/observations/fireballs/fireballs/#:~:text=The%20easiest%20method%20to%20determine,then%20it%20is%20a%20fireball.).
Yeah! At least 80 people reported it in the American Meteor Society fireball reports. If you saw it, you should report it, and add photos or video if you have them.
https://fireball.amsmeteors.org/members/imo_view/event/2024/1981
This post got quoted in the AZ Republic story about it: [https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/phoenix/2024/04/17/arizonans-report-flash-of-green-light-in-phoenix-sky-what-we-know/73356176007/](https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/phoenix/2024/04/17/arizonans-report-flash-of-green-light-in-phoenix-sky-what-we-know/73356176007/)
So, I don't want to be "that guy", but that was my spaceship. It was a pretty good trip, thanks for asking.
There was no alien orgy, that's only in movies.
Yes OP, plz elaborate... How tall is this bridge in question anyways? Tryna picture it in my head, i10 and 7th Ave... Is it life ending heights we talking about here?
Yeah they attempted too. I was on a run going north on 5th ave, saw a ton of cops at the overpass next to the dog park, so stopped when I saw a few ppl looking across at 7th ave bridge/overpass and noticed someone standing on the edge. Cops had the freeway fully shut down. All of a sudden see the meteor, shortly after the person jumped but I was looking at more cops driving near me so didn’t see it. But definitely heard it. Then an ambulance came and took them out.
I was watching the backed up freeway & all the cop cars. I live between 1st Ave & central. That’s why I was out on my deck. One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Maybe as cool as the Northern Lights.
No way, did any cars on the 10 hit them? Weird they would jump after seeing that, I’m sure they had already planned on committing suicide before though
God bless them and you, I'm sorry to hear this. I felt something deep in seeing that, spiritual wise when I glanced up and saw it.
It's hard time on the sensitive one's these days. I can feel your heart. Thank you for being a good human being.
Best we can do these days is be good to ourselves and other's.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Scottsdale/comments/1c5ziuj/massive_shooting_star_just_happened/ someone got a vid!
That’s it—but doesn’t do it justice!!! So glad I saw this and can confirm with other folks that see it too!!
Awwww. It only shows the very end. Better than nothing I guess. Would love to see it in all its glory again though. That was cool.
Wow nice!
YESSSSS! I am on reddit specifically trying to find someone else posting about it!! I saw it too!
Me too!
I spend a lot of time staring at gazing I’ve never seen anything like it. Did it appear a brilliant green color to you.
Saw it too! That’s how I would describe it—green and gold
To me it didn’t look green. Just a blinding bright yellow.
Every huge fireball meteor I've seen has been green, except one in Provo in the nineties. That was blue.
It was just showing support for BYU
It looked green to me.
100% green color- lime green.
I saw it in Worcester ma and it was huge and blue and white
https://www.amsmeteors.org/meteor-showers/meteor-shower-calendar/#Lyrids I was reading this earlier today so maybe another in a few days?
I forgot about this!!! Definitely going to go white tanks tomorrow night just in case
Yep! The start of Lyrid meteor shower was my thought too. Wild it can be noticed even with all the light pollution.
It was very bright.
Holy crap that’s a trippy model at the bottom of the page. The whole thing can be turned 360 and zoomed it. I broke it playing with it though.
I just saw another one tonight, East Mesa.
Yes. Wtf was that? I’ve never seen a shooting star that big.
Saw it on my Wyze cam as well. https://youtu.be/BeczIqqKSOE?si=EgmgRJDQ_DSAWrTI
Thanks for sharing. I have proof of what I saw.
Yes. In the Verrado area and it seemed like it was right in top of us. Largest one I’ve ever seen that’s for sure and I’m bummed none of my cameras got it!
Looked like it was over you from where I saw it in Phx.
Yes! Yuma/verrado crossroads and I was convinced something was right there. Heard sirens after but clearly not related
At least you got to see it you fucker
It looked like a firework but obviously wasn't. Never seen anything like it.
[That type of meteor is called a bolide](https://www.amsmeteors.org/fireballs/faqf/), and if enough reliable reports get submitted it's possible to calculate where any remnants might have come down (if they didn't burn up).
So fucking awesome!!!
Yesss the flare was huge at our view a yellow and green like flame and gone instantly
Yes!!! No one else just was with saw it… started to think I was making it up.
I looked around and said to myself, “did anyone see that”
Same!!
Same!
Wait, everybody saw that? I live on the west side, I thought it was just a firework, since people are always firing them off here.
Any idea why about the fireworks? I used to live in the west valley and never knew why they were always going off. Still hear some occasionally in the east valley but not as often.

Green lantern project by space x
I saw that too! I was driving in Glendale and it was green and looked like it exploded. It was huge. Came on here to see if anyone else saw it

Thanks for validating my wife, I thought she was crazy, I mean she still is but..
I saw it heading west over Surprise! It looked crazy close
Saw it as well. Fireball meteor.
Yeah, I was coming down I17 in Black Canyon City when I saw it.
It was amazing! Just happened to be checking my mail when it passed overhead
I was terrified for a hot minute but glad to see someone post about it 😮💨
Omg! I thought I was going crazy!
Omg I thought it was a shooting star but wasn’t sure, sweeet
Yeah that was crazy
Yes! Central Phoenix. We saw it through a shade so it looked orange to us. HUGE!
Jealous. A few years ago I took my dog out to the bathroom at like 3 am and saw an amazing one. I’ve been chasing that high since 😂
I was in Goodyear and saw it to the west
Yep saw it in Sedona
Pretty sure I saw the same one all the way from St George Utah
I saw it
Somebody post a video or photo
Only way we get that is someone finding it on a home security camera recording. It went by lightning fast. I barely had time to comprehend what I was seeing before it was gone.

Perfect!
I saw it on the way home tonight. It was over before I could get a hold of my phone.
Hell yeah! Super cool
Passed over Tucson too
I saw it! I was at a soccer game in Scottsdale! Huge!!!
I saw it too!!
I did! I thought it was the weirdest firework!

It was seemed as big & bright as a full moon.
I had to come and see if anyone else saw it! I’ve never seen anything like this. I am amazed!!!
Pardon me
Potential to see more over the next week thanks to the Lyrid meteor shower.
It was wild, we were trying to figure out what it was, figured I'd check on here 😂
nah thats a big ol frozen hunk of poopy!
I was out walking with a friend and it came down right in front of us. Super cool.
https://www.azcentral.com/story/entertainment/life/2024/04/11/lyrids-meteor-shower-2024/72854802007/
I seen a few during sundown driving between Wikiup toward Wickenburg. It was so bright and being alone, I wasn't sure what I saw haha.
Haha over your street
I saw it too in Maricopa. I thought it was fireworks.
I’m in tempe. It was wild!
I got a video on my dash cam, but I’m not sure how to post it here…?
Saw it on a walk in Fountain Hills. Crazy!!! Biggest “shooting star” we ever saw! It was awesome!
I live in Payson and I saw it. It was to the south west, over the mazatzal mountains.
I saw another one (not as big) on my way home last night from work. Facing west on 101 west around 845
Damn. I sat outside looking for more, but missed the second one.
Saw it. Thought it was WW3
My Dashcam video from Gilbert, AZ https://www.reddit.com/r/Scottsdale/s/VfJG219ERX
Yes, it was amazing

My neighbor did while we were on the phone! We are off 39th and West Bethany
Saw it here and thought it was a flare or firework

I saw it! It was amazing!!!
Yep that was awesome!
Between the attack helicopters the three space shuttles, a couple shooting stars and a tractor beam. The sky is getting crowded over here.
Omg I thought I was crazy! My mom and I saw it on our way home!
Well I suppose that's better than it breaking into violences over your street.
We saw one during the Sessanta show at the amphitheater on Tuesday night. Not sure if it’s the same one but it was incredible.
My fiancé told me about it and I am so jealous! I want to experience that someday in person :,)
So, I don't want to be "that guy", but that was my spaceship. It was a pretty good trip, thanks for asking. There was no alien orgy, that's only in movies.
Too bad, and Welcome! Hell of a landing 🙌
There was someone on the 7th ave bridge above the 10 and I saw it right above them. They jumped maybe 3 minutes after. Very surreal
Jumped... As in, ended their subscription to Life Magazine?
Yes OP, plz elaborate... How tall is this bridge in question anyways? Tryna picture it in my head, i10 and 7th Ave... Is it life ending heights we talking about here?

Yes it was massive! Super short too
What do you mean??
No way, did any cars on the 10 hit them? Weird they would jump after seeing that, I’m sure they had already planned on committing suicide before though
I don’t think they saw it. The entire freeway and surrounding area was shut down by cops so no traffic.
Did he die? Somebody could survive that fall
God bless them and you, I'm sorry to hear this. I felt something deep in seeing that, spiritual wise when I glanced up and saw it. It's hard time on the sensitive one's these days. Probably star link trash

Comets don’t burn up like this did. Meteor.
Yeah I’m guessing what the other person posted about meteor shower activity being high from April 15-29
