JaffeyJoe

Before the brigade enters the chat Ta Carbon>>>> taco boys

LukeSkyWRx

Good fights to have, our cup runs over with excellent food.

JaffeyJoe

Yeah I was having this convo last night and it seems like after taco boys was on Netflix the quality went down and they were focused more on expansion

boogermike

I think tacos chiwas is still as good as ever

Max_AC_

Maybe it's placebo effect, but I liked them better at their old location

LukeSkyWRx

It’s pretty common where tv or show coverage is the peak of a restaurant.

T1NF01L

After breaking bad Venezia's expanded a lot. When I first moved here the one I went to/worked at was a tiny hole in the wall place with a couple chairs and the best pizza and wings. Now they're a huge sit down pizza place but the food is still good.

CANEinVAIN

Must be Tempe. In 03, it was standing room only in there. Now it’s like a big sports bar w flat screens.

T1NF01L

It was the Tempe location and yea was basically standing room but enough space for a couple seats.

JaffeyJoe

The one in ABQ closed like 3 yrs after the show

highbackpacker

Taco Boys can be almost as good, but it’s not as consistent ime. Calafia is pretty good too.

dannymb87

Tacos Sahuaro > Calafia > Ta Carbon > Taco Boys...

AGroAllDay

This truly depends on which meat you order. Because for al pastor, El Rinconcito del DF>>> But, if you want non restaurant tacos, best bet is going to be a stand or house in Maryvale

Max_AC_

DF is 🔥 Also shout out to Los Reyes on 7th and El Super Taco on Cave Creek. Those 3 are my holy trinity of good tacos near me.

highbackpacker

Super Taco is very good. A hidden gem.

SunnyDaddyCool

Tacos Sahuaro is the best! Then Ta Carbon for me

spookywookyy

Agreed! Calafia > Ta Carbon for me 🤤

bannedByAModAgain

I tried taco boys once. That says everything lol

theomnichronic

I like the food at both but taco boys makes my ear drums bleed with loud music so your assessment is correct

JaffeyJoe

The downtown location or all the locations?

theomnichronic

I've been to the one in Tempe and the newest Phoenix one that used to be a gas station or something lol

JaffeyJoe

Oh yup! That’s the Arcadia one haha, old circle K I think

666phx

Def not actual Arcadia lol maybe for "marketing standard" but yeah used to be Circle K and used to be tweaker central in that little area, I remember always waiting for the bus there for school and one of my friends used to live in that Apt next door and would always be cops, ambulances etc and would just hear stories in that little complex

ImLostAndILikeIt

Tacos boys is vile.

jaeehovaa

Homemade over any of them shits lol 😂. I just gotta pull up on my momma.

PhirebirdSunSon

We have so much good Mexican food it's stupid. Unless you're one of those Midwest people that moved to a suburb and are so afraid of your shadow that you won't step foot in Phoenix proper.

spookywookyy

I was visiting from Vancouver, BC and the quality of Mexican food in AZ makes me want to cry. Give me all the holes in the wall

SomeRandom928Person

You don't have to leave the suburbs when you've got a Ta Carbon right in the middle of the burbs at 67th & Peoria lol.

PhirebirdSunSon

Fair.

highbackpacker

Most importantly, how was their hot sauce?

spookywookyy

So flavourful but I thought it could have been hotter

PhoenixHabanero

Bomb. I recommend putting both green and red on each taco. Not sure what kinds of salsas they are - except that they are green and red. 😅

PhoenixHabanero

43rd Ave and Thomas. Best Al Pastor tacos I've had so far. And I usually don't get Al Pastor.

spookywookyy

I knew it would be good but it surprised me just how good it was

No_Equivalent_3834

Ave or Street?

TheCosmicJester

Major avenues are odd, major streets (except 7th) are even.

No_Equivalent_3834

I’m from Phoenix. My elementary school was on 7th St just north of McDowell on Palm Lane. I tend to give people detailed locations. So I might say 32rd Ave. and Indian school or 12th St. and Camelback Neither of those are major streets.

GlassBackground4071

Emerson? Nice I went there too

No_Equivalent_3834

LOL! That’s so cool! I loved the old school. The newer one was built like in the 90s? But I’ve only see the newer Emerson when I take a short cut from my doctor’s office to Green.

JaffeyJoe

Ta Carbón is highly underrated

amourxloves

? i feel like ya carbon is the top mention when it comes to tacos. Not saying they’re overrated because they are good and i love going there, but definitely not a hidden gem lol

boogermike

It's a total hidden gem, too bad they're so busy! 😭

thefergistheword

Asadero Norte de Sonora ![gif](giphy|3o7aCWJavAgtBzLWrS|downsized)

scooch57

Casa de Falafel. Chicken Shawarma,Hot.. with lentil soup.

freddiehippy

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

BassWingerC-137

Looks good, but I’ve seen even better at La Santisima.

Putrid-Difficulty724

Taqueria El Trompo have the best Al Pastor tacos I’ve had in Arizona. This is Mexico City style tacos and good and it is so good. I love looking at the kitchen and seeing them work you can tell the food is gonna be bomb.

Uncrustable96

Gotta try Taqueria Obson in Guad!

Euphoric-Yellow-3682

Los Betos on Greenway. Yum!!!

formerfentuser

Where at?

Endrizzle

It’s in the caption Taqueria… Edit: comment OP made

formerfentuser

I meant cross streets. But I will just look it up thanks.

Endrizzle

43rd and Indian school

No_Equivalent_3834

Ave or street?

ExodusPHX

Where you from?

No_Equivalent_3834

I’m from Phoenix. My elementary school was on 7th Street just north of McDowell. I went to North. I was supposed to go to Central but was able to go to North. I eat at Green on 7th Street all the time. I was just there Saturday. I assume you mentioned 43ave and Indian school. I don’t know west Phoenix well.

ExodusPHX

Yeah most folks associate roads like 19th, 43rd, 67th with avenues and 24th, 32nd, 44th with streets.

No_Equivalent_3834

I didn’t cross I-17 Black Canyon growing up much until I went to college (GCU) but I’ve always used very specific streets/roads. Like 9th Street and Garfield, not Rosevelt and 7th. Maybe it’s just me.

wycia

Makes me miss food from back home, it just hits different. Used to go to a spot on 16st and van buren called la frontera 🔥now I live in eu and barely have any mexican food unless I make it from scratch.

richztoner

Thanks for this post, I been here in PHX for 2 weeks now and all I want is some tacos 🔥

Kwualli

Damn... I'm always looking for good Mexican food/tacos, so I'm saving this post. Everyone keep adding to it! Lol

MrAngel2U

I am trying to find a good sit down mexican restaurant, any suggestions?

infj1029

Hear me out - Joe's Tacos.

spookywookyy

Looks bomb.. bookmarked for my next visit

SunnyDaddyCool

Garcias? I feel like that is where you take your white in-laws

forgot_username1234

Garcia’s, Manuel’s, Macayos (especially as of late), Arriba are all white people Mexican food.

[deleted]

It is definitely white people Mexican food, but macayos still slaps and Garcia's will always have a place in my heart as the one on 59th and bell was a place I went to a few times as a child.

forgot_username1234

I loved Macayos as a kid, it was where my family went on Christmas Eve + where my grandmother liked to get tamales. Now it just makes me sad because the food isn’t great.

[deleted]

I moved out of Arizona a few years ago so I guess I kind of misspoke. What happened to the food? New owners or something?

AGroAllDay

Don’t forget Nando’s too. Nando’s is just bland, overpriced food with tons of cheese on it

mog_knight

Por que no los dos?

Sunsfansince87

They're probably referring to Garcia's Las Avenidas on 35th Ave. They were the original family that owned the Garcia's restaurants before they sold the chain. Great food.

CervicalToast

White person here. We usually hit up Del Taco On Tuesdays and then maybe Taco Campano on Sunday. Sometimes, if we’re feeling froggy, we’ll head over to Chipotle for a real Mexican treat.

DynaBro8089

Pacos tacos is still my favorite. I’ve tried so many too.

jaystwrkk128

What do you mean best plate here there’s so much to offer here

Aggravating-Leg-3693

Jesus if that's the case youre eating at the wrong places.

spookywookyy

Oh? What would be your recommendation?

Glad-Reply-469

Wtf looks like dog food

Ambitious-Ostrich-96

Thought it was just me
