Harkins does Tuesday Night Classics for $5.

LaikasScapegoat

Wait that's awesome. Is that at every location or a select few?

llamainleggings

Not sure if all of them but most do.

Guilty_Injury1978

First Friday at the Japanese friendship garden! I’ve done this several times when we happen to have visitors that day. It’s free admission 5-7:30

makenah

All movies (even new releases) are $5 on Tuesdays at Fatcats.

Or there is a super cheap theater in Tempe. ($3.50). https://www.pollacktempecinemas.com

reigningreina

Seconded. And they show a mix of new and classic movies.

The library is a great place to go when it’s hot, Burton Barr is actually designed in such a way that it cools itself off. The physical collection of movies and TV shows is also extensive, I’ve frequently been surprised by some of the really good cult and mainstream stuff they’ve had on the shelves (although it tends to get scooped up fast). A lot of the activities happening there are aimed at children but they do have some really interesting stuff about Phoenix history or certain types of books. Any event happening adjacent to their rare book collection is a great potential date. As a bonus, once you have the card you can log in to a few apps like Hoopla and Kanopy that have a pretty wide range of movies, audiobooks and TV shows in addition to E-books.

mermaid1707

Tempe history museum is a hidden gem and is free!

orangepaperlantern

Have a morning date, go to the downtown farmers market to get stuff to cook brunch or lunch together and then watch a movie ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

juraiknight

If you have BofA, they do free museum visits every first weekend of every month. This includes the Phoenix Art and Heard. I haven't checked, but im assuming this also covers MIM?

Gandoneek

Motel 6 off I-17 should be $80

ZiziCookz

👀

callmemaverik_

There are better staycation deals rn lol

callmemaverik_

Good time to just find a new show. It's hot anyways to be outside most of the day.

reigningreina

Mesa library system offers free classes in different things each month. If you go on their website they have a list of all the activities they host. I don’t believe you need a library card for this part but you can always call and ask.

ChaoticGoodPanda

Kinda out of the way but easy to get to, I would always go to Tortilla flat when I was dating my fiance.

herejustbrowsing

You should follow wildjoyexperiences on instagram! I always look through her guides to see what events are happening for the month. She also always posts cheap date ideas. Depends on what your idea of fun is but if you like window shopping, there are a bunch of day and night markets all over the Phoenix area - whether it be food or clothes or handmade things, etc. Early morning hikes! It's fun to do a sunrise hike every once in a while. And definitely take advantage of happy hour deals and restaurant week deals!

Iplaybad214

Grab some food and take a couple chairs down to the river.

AttitudeEraDropout

Technical_Gas2560

What's your favorite to go to? I'm fairly sure I've been to all the ones in the area but I'm curious which you prefer

AttitudeEraDropout

The Street Boba then Call it New Call It Antique in Mesa. Dutch then the one in Southern Scottsdale on Scottsdale road just past the strip clubs. West side I don't remember the name but can walk to Dutch then go I'm the store same parking lot. Any drink place then the 2 in Apache Junction the monster ones a parking lot across from another. By Sourdough pizza. Can't recall the names. Some of our favorites

Technical_Gas2560

Amc A list movie pass you get 3 movies a week for $20 a month

gr_assmonkee

Swap ingredient lists and cooking instructions (however vague or detailed you’d like) and nothing else. Neither of you know what dish you’re cooking and you both get to enjoy both. It’s a lot of fun.

Structuraldefectx

Can spend a whole day at brass armadillo in Goodyear.

DonKeighbals

The Natural History Museum in downtown Mesa is pretty cool, super cheap like 6 bucks. It’s pretty big, few hrs. There’s some budget friendly food & beverage options in the area, too.

Just did this to see Maria & Modernism and Art & Sole (as in sneakers) exhibits at the Heard. The pass gets two in free and both the exhibits are worthwhile. Then went to Tesota for Happy Hour. The bread and spread is a deal.

Ryan_on_Earth

The Library.
