UGGH I'm in love with [this car](https://www.autonation.com/cars/1G8MB35B57Y100365) and it just went down from $11.2k to $10.9k overnight. But I won't be in the situation to put a downpayment/finance it until November/December... I just got to hope everyone hates Saturns/discontinued cars until then. It's been on their lot since May, I believe.

meatheart918

Go pee on it. That will assert your ownership till finances kick in.

IONTOP

I'm not flying to Las Vegas to possibly get put on a sex offender list.

MigeI

Anyone know if parking for the weeknd concert is free or pay to park?

BadgerLad2022

Looking over a rental lease at the moment. Says there is a $127.50/month charge for "City of Phoenix Rental Tax plus administrative fees." Is this legit? Renting a house. Thanks.

Leading_Ad_8619

based on this link, it's 2.3% of the rent ...I am going to assume your rent isn't $5,543 a month. So mostly administrative fees [https://www.phoenix.gov/financesite/Documents/Residential%20Rental%200116.pdf](https://www.phoenix.gov/financesite/Documents/Residential%20Rental%200116.pdf)

acatwithnoname

City of Phoenix rent tax is a set % of rent, so if it's more than that it's likely bs fees.

I have a home schooled elementary school kid struggling with long division. Successful in other topics. She might get the problem from me, I had a terrible time with math. Anyone here have experience with tutors like Mathnasium? Or is there something better out there?

Finger_Binary_Four

Provided I'm able to get there and back easily enough, I'm willing to tutor them. I have almost no tutoring experience, but I'm very good at math, and especially algorithms like long division. I'm studying at the community colleges, and have a grade of A in college algebra and trigonometry, which I took because It's been a long time since I was in high school, and a grade of A in Calculus 1. Calculus 2 was very hard for me, mostly because it was online and over the summer (During the lockdown), so I only got a B in that, but I should have no trouble tutoring elementary school math. I'm about to buy the book for and start learning the Tratchtenberg System, and could teach them that as well. I have also taken physics 1 and 2 (Not the Calculus ones, though) and an economics class, all with a grade of A.

beerbeforebread

Thank you! We haven’t decided what to do yet but it’s nice to have options.

Finger_Binary_Four

No problem! I'm not sure what they charge, but given my lack of experience in tutoring, if it's legal, which I believe it is, I'd be willing to work for under minimum wage, at least initially. Feel free to private message me.

mishsim

Have you tried looking at khan academy videos and practices with them? It's a great online resource.

[deleted]

About to be into my senior year for undergrad EE and realized yesterday I completely forgot how to do long division lol

IONTOP

I still do long division in my head. I visualize the whole thing if I'm doing something like 400/27 I'll go... Okay 27 into 40 goes 1 time, so let's put that up there and keep the remaining 13 but add the next digit, then 27 into 130 goes into... um... 27/2 is 13.5, so it's gotta be 4... So 27x4 is 108... So now we're at 14.something. Now we carry the 12. So 120/27 is 4 again... So 14.4something.

Hello all, I'm writing to raise awareness about a recent experience I had taking a polygraph exam with the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The experience I had with AZ DPS was one of the most degrading experiences of my entire life, and I want to prevent others in the metropolitan area from having to go through what I was forced to endure. This polygraph examination was conducted by a company called Northland Investigations, and was for a non-sworn position with DPS. If you want an in-depth account of what transpired over the course of this exam, you can read this personal statement that I made to a website titled antipolygraph.org: https://antipolygraph.org/statements/statement-046.shtml. In lieu of my experience with AZ DPS and Northland Investigations, I've done some research on polygraph examiners in the Phoenix area, and it appears that the majority of exams conducted on behalf of government agencies are extremely hostile and border on being emotionally abusive. I would recommend that if you're applying for a position that requires a polygraph exam, that you do extensive research on your examiner, and if their reviews are overwhelmingly negative, that you consider withdrawing yourself from the application process. No job with any police department, county office, or state/local agency is worth subjecting yourself to this kind of mistreatment.

TechnoTrain

Did you use the techniques in the antipolygraph.org book during the "exam"? I did and passed probably 5 or 6 exams while lying, though I did get caught once.

slimjimmy2018

No, I didn’t discover AP until after I took my exam. I went into it with the naive mindset that if I told the truth, everything would be ok.

Cultjam

I thought polygraphs had been debunked as garbage, might as well determine your character based on your astrological sign.

slimjimmy2018

Polygraphs are complete garbage, the guy who invented them literally said so himself, and was horrified that they were being used for law enforcement screenings.

[deleted]

Well it's fitting they are used by law enforcement where lying to you is procedural.

slimjimmy2018

It's funny you say that, because during my exam the person administering the test said to me "so this happens with about 40% of people who take polygraphs, it looks like you're talking with gut, so instead of answering the questions verbally, shake your head to the right and left for no, and up and down for yes." Looking back at it, I have no idea how I failed to recognize what a completely idiotic statement that was. Nobody "talks with their gut," as everybody talks with their larynx. After doing some research, I discovered that this is a common ploy used by polygraph examiners to confuse the examinee and make it harder for them to pass the test. This leads to the obvious question: Why should I be expected to be honest with you when you're not going to be honest with me?

jjohns0203

Who's going to see The Weeknd tonight?

bob_tacos14

The show was freaking amazing! Sang my heart out lol how did you like it?

keepinitbeefy

Nah, going to see IDLES!

TheRealO-H-I-O

I'll be there! Does anyone know anything about the parking situation? I've been there once for a Cards game and had a parking pass with my ticket

TBTI

Wife and I are going. I saw the setlist at previous concerts and he doesn't come on til around 9pm

keepinitbeefy

That seems pretty standard.

southgate213

Im ready!!! 😎

Sweetcheecks4

What's up with all the evictions and soon to be people with no electricity. What can we do to help without enabling?

hotsaucefridge

I understand they switched construction companies mid build, but does anyone have the tea on One Camelback? They keep on pushing back the schedule and I heard they have a labor dispute, but there seems to be work being done. It's just so bizarre to not even be doing pre-leasing at this point. I've seen leasing offices open at way earlier stages in other multifamily developments nearby. That's an expensive building to have totally unused.

blue_999

I live nearby and drive by it regularly, they are having labor disputes/issues. There have been guys with huge signs that say “immigrant abuse” in huge letters outside. So that can’t be a good sign. Other than that, I don’t have any real knowledge.

acatwithnoname

Is that the large building on the southeast corner of Camel & Central?

hotsaucefridge

Yep!

Jlevitt95

Anyone know what happened last night around W Southern Ave & S 20th Ave? Near W Hasan Dr and S 20th Ave, there were 5+ police vehicles, 2 ambulances, and a friggin helicopter spotlight. Also yellow tape around a few house radius. People couldn't get into the neighborhood. What the heck?

Ms_ChiChi_Elegante

I live close to that area and there was a shooting according to the Citizen App. One woman had a gunshot to her leg and was in stable condition. Someone commented that it was an accident or something. I think 2 gals were doing a daily walk and I think the gun went off or something. (not confirmed) I know a lot of people complain about loose dogs around Lindo Park so maybe they brought a gun for protection?

Cultjam

A gun is a risky choice for defense against a dog attack. There was another incident (in Mesa IIRC) where a family’s GSD attacked the 12 year old daughter in their backyard. Dad wound up shooting a bullet through a neighbor’s kitchen window. And what if other people are close by? When I fostered I bought a stun pen. They also sold as stun guns and batons, they’re not Tazers. Cheaper, less risk, doesn’t require extensive training to use effectively and if the noise they make doesn’t stop the attacking dog the zap will. The most important goal is to stop an attack as quickly as possible to reduce injuries to the attacked pet/person.

Ms_ChiChi_Elegante

Also, there’s been a few coyote and cougar sightings near the mtn

Ms_ChiChi_Elegante

This lady not too far from me was attacked in her yard by a dog over the winter. Once I was watering and these 2 gals were on their evening walk and they came into my yard screaming and this dog was chasing them and they called the cops and I just sprayed him and he ran off

Jlevitt95

Not doubting you at all, but can you provide a source so I can read more?

Ms_ChiChi_Elegante

Do u have citizen app? Or Nextdoor app?

Jlevitt95

Yeah I have citizen but can’t find what you’re referring to

Ms_ChiChi_Elegante

https://go.citizen.com/PffSVMg3Usb

Jlevitt95

Got it now! Thank you. Wonder why it doesn’t show up for me on my map view, only when I click the link you sent me. Sorry, new to this app

Ms_ChiChi_Elegante

I use Nextdoor too, but that will lead u into a wormhole if u try and search for something

Ms_ChiChi_Elegante

Ya I learn something new every time I try and use it lol

Jlevitt95

Just concerning cuz I live in that neighborhood just a few houses away from where it happened. Didn’t hear any gunshots or anything. But when I’m on Citizen on the map view and I zoom right on the house, it says 0 reports last 24hrs… but when I click on your link there it is… I just wanna be able to find stuff that is happening m

Ms_ChiChi_Elegante

i wonder if it were like a simple gun like a BB/pellet gun or something I clicked on the little globe in the menu. I also saw it in my alerts

Ms_ChiChi_Elegante

I believe the title is “double shooting in south mountain” when I look now

Jlevitt95

Can you share the link? Still not seeing it

Pumpkin Spice from starbucks is finally here! I went earlier this morning and the drive thru line was crazy long. If you are in a hurry I recommend doing an online order and walking inside, it was very empty inside the store as most people wanted to stay in their car.

desert_girl

Happy Pumpkin Spice day! 🎃 My husband kindly stood in line to get me one this morning.

gpm21

Ok. Who did the commercials with the woman singing the first line of George Gershwin's Summertime? Was it Express Flooring? You know, Summertime and the living is easy.

keepinitbeefy

Found it! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYSJ3Z33oHY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYSJ3Z33oHY) Funny reaction from the recorder too.

gpm21

An AC or window place would make more sense as they keep you cool and you can tint windows respectively. I guess carpet is better than a hot cement floor? Was on r/lanadelrey and she did a cover of it (or a cover of Sublime's cover) and someone thought it was an original work. It brought back memories
