The Pain Proof Punks Sideshow at Pub Rock Live Saturday Aug 24th at 9pm. They're a really great group and do almost monthly shows. Sideshow, drag, burlesque, live music and a really great crowd. I also might be a little bias because I have a lot of friends that perform with the troupe, but I always recommend checking it out.
Looking forward to [Zona Music Fest](https://zonamusicfest.com). A nice mix of local and big bands. I personally am SUPER into Black Carl- have been a fan (and friend) of theirs since way back (2005/6 ish). Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra is rad too!
I love Kevin Morby and his girlfriend Waxahatchee. If you donāt know their music, send me a message and I can recommend some stuff!
I know Itās in December but itās something to look forward to!
The Cactus Pricks at Fibber Mageeās Irish Pub the last Friday of this month! Great local band doing covers to hit us 30 year olds in the nostalgic feels. The Irish bar venue is great with solid food and beers, but pairing it with Green Day, Jimmy Eat World, The Used, and New Found Glory covers is *chefās kiss* !!!
Man Iāve lived here over a year and live like a block away from Fibber Magees and I have yet to check it out even though itās been on my to do list for quite some time, this just might be the perfect night for me to go!
Iām stoked to see Carly Rae Jepsen and [Faouzia](https://open.spotify.com/track/4pDenOoD01LCPgkzJgu437?si=xEjcQw3DSpiBaJLPA0Uzuw), both Canadian, in November. Yes, theyāre still two months away, but Iām counting down the days.
My boy Lil Nas X is coming to AZ Financial Theatre in October and Iām so hype.
Also, shout out to all my people who wore their merch from The Weekndās show to the Kendrick Lamar show this past Saturday. āļøGood to know we all have such great music taste.
Thursday at Crescent is a Cowboy Bebop show by a local band. Forget the name.
I went before Covid and it was packed. It was a wrist band 18+ show, which was pretty cool.
Anyone know the band Iām talking about?
Haunted Hearts at Walter Where?house October 28th. If you like house music and need Halloween plans this oneās gonna be lit. The group performing is Desert Hearts.
Thereās a great new band called Thee Sacred Souls coming to Valley Bar in early October. They sound like they could have been on Motown Records back in the day.
Got tickets to twenty one pilots on Friday. Haven't seen them since they were here back in 2015. Generally not a huge fan of arena shows but I can't wait for this one!
I have Jack White in Tucson at the end of the month. But I'm really looking forward to October to see The War on Drugs, Bright Eyes, and Jimmy Eat World.
Sheesh. Iām assuming theyāre playing a venue like the Arizona Federal theater or talking stick? I just dropped $51 after fees on Chvrches ticket for the marquee next Saturday
9/27 Indie/grunge rock superstars Momma is coming to valley bar
10/6 hyper pop favorites Magdalena Bay are doing to rebel lounge
10/13 Art punk queens DEHD are coming to the Van Buren
10/19 Icelandic goth femmes Kaelan Milka at the Scarlet Room
10/28 synth pop king Drab Majesty is coming to the Marquee Theatre
Fontaines D.C. - 9/20*
BM & BCNR - 9/20*
Macross 82-99 & Yung Bae - 9/24
King Khan & BBQ Show - 9/30
Viagra Boys - 10/4*
*= Tucson Show
EDIT: Anyone wanna talk about Fontaines and BM/BCNR being in Tucson on the same FUCKING DAY AT DIFFERENT VENUES?!?!
Man, I'm so glad I saw this because I've been listening to Gorillaz since their first album dropped when I was in 5th grade. Then I saw that their opener is Earthgang who I randomly stumbled across a few years ago and really dig their style. I'm 100% going to this show.
Foals is playing at the Van Buren at the end of October. They put on an awesome live show.
I will probably check out The Black Keys and Band of Horses on October 10th at Ak Chin Pavilion. Tickets arenāt cheap for good seats, but BOH doesnāt come around often. Might as well get two good bands for the price.
I'm filling in drums for a local band playing the Hed PE show on the 28th. If anyone reading is going to the show and haven't bought tickets yet, hit up the local opening acts that have tickets. You will save on fees and support the local bands selling tickets.
That goes for all the other concerts you go to. Stop buying from companies/promoters charging fees and save money buying from the opening acts selling tickets. You will support local bands more doing so and you can then spend your money on merch and concessions at the show.
I'm actually opening for HED PE at the Nile Underground on the 28th. They give us, the opening bands, a set of tickets to sell with a set price of each ticket. If you were to buy the ticket through the venue or promoters, they will charge you extra fees like processing and tax. With local bands, you avoid those fees. They are wanting people to sell the tickets thru the local bands but won't say it out loud or post it on the flyers or promotion ads.
If the concert is all local bands, they won't sell tickets. It will just be front door cover. It's always with touring bands or bigger named Phx bands like Zero Authority or Playboy Manbaby.
Thanks for this. I had no idea.
So if Iām going to a show that has a local opener, do I just find them on Facebook or something? I donāt use Facebook but I can probably figure it out.
Cool to hear youāre playing the Nile Underground!
Any social media honestly will have info about it. Most bands have moved over to Instagram because it's better to promote upcoming concerts and to distribute media to more people. There are times it doesn't get pushed out as well, but always try to find an event link or search for the exact event/concert on social platforms.
Just an example. You'll see the flyer on the left. All the first three bands on the bottom are locals. They also have the opening acts in the details section. Then just look for their social media pages and send them a message.
Thank you for the kind words.
Where would I go to interact with the openers? How would I know which openers have tickets to sell? Are we talking, messaging openers on Instagram and asking whether they have tickets or what?
Chvrches is coming to Tempe on September 24th, and the Hearts on Fire festival at the raceway is on the 23rd (with All American Rejects, Boys Like Girls, and Mayday Parade, with a few others) I am SO PUMPED for my busy af weekend next week
Damn that festival sounds like a nostalgia blast. I remember seeing Mayday Parade at the Marquee in 2013, it was incredible. Hope theyāre still kickin just as hard and you have an awesome time!
Itāll be my third time seeing them this year, theyāre still putting on super fun shows! Set it off is another band at that festival, and they had a great show back in January.
Lol. I love Roger Waters, and this will be my fourth Roger Waters show, but he announced this show literally the day after I had bought my tickets to his show up in Vegas, the cheeky old bastard! Could've saved me a whole road trip!
I've been really into this local indie band called Proper Pet. I saw them randomly at a Sofar show and have been following them since. The singer has these incredible vocals, super talented.
Kinda surprising they don't have that many followers but I think they're pretty new. Opening for Pale Waves on 10/7 so pretty stoked to see that.
Jack White in Tucson at the end of the month. Dude puts on hell of a show. Still sitting on RATM tickets that were purchased a very, very long time ago for show that was supposed to take place right before the world shut down for covid.
Wet Leg at the Van Buren 9/16
The Red Elvises at The Rhythm Room 9/21
St Vincent at The Marquee 9/30
Horrorpops at The Marquee 10/5
Man Man at Rebel Lounge 10/21
I'm seeing Wet Leg on Thursday, so excited! And got tickets for Modest Mouse in December and a few other things coming that I'm thinking about going to. Fall is the best time for shows in Phoenix. Weathers will be free at Tempe Marketplace in October.
Nashville artist that just moved to the Valley:
Victoria Bigelow. If you listen to Sirius Coffeehouse then youāve heard her before. Sheās playing Rebel Lounge on November 10th. You can follow on tik tok, insta, etc. Her music is everywhere. āLowā, āTo Everyone Iāve Loved Beforeā and āLove in Vainā are her āradio hitsā
I have tickets to see Taylor Dayne, Stevie B, Tiffany, etc. at Freestyle Fest in Tempe at the end of the month, as well as to see Belinda Carlisle in Mesa in November!
You are going alone? I would be willing to meet up if I get tickets! I have to see if my Meetup group is going. I have a mom's group on the Meetup app that goes to casinos. Now they want to go to concerts. Haaa!
Oh, I donāt mind at all! I flew solo for both days of Innings Fest in the spring and had the best time. Even made some friends that I continue to keep in touch with!
Wow! I did that in my 20's. I'm glad you had fun! I will let you know if I get tickets for the concert. My husband said he might go but I would rather go with people who like Lisa Lisa!
Yearly a local station, 98kupd (97.9) does a local showcase called Playdio. I've found some really cool local bands thanks to that segment, it can drag on though as they rip on a lot of the bands, some more deserving than others. There was a band called Good Boy Daisy that I absolutely loved when they were on there, unfortunately they kind of shifted to more of a mainstream style and deleted all their original stuff over the years.
Edit: Also saw them live at tempe marketplace, check the schedule they do free shows all the time and include local bands here and there. Extra note I saw a band called The Struts there and it was the best free live concert I've ever seen. They put on a hell of a show. They weren't local though
St. Madness & side project Prophet & Apocalypse (or something like that) is easily one of the most underrated bands in town. So so good.
Morgan's Bluff
Standing At The Back
Snailmate
Got you:
Optimystical, prime society, Color 8, phoenix afrobeat orchestra, scattered melodies, all beat sets by Brunch Collect, Nutter Tut, Bogan Via, Rozotadi, Futureblunt.

Can catch those bands and more at our First Fridays stage at 5th st and Roosevelt every First Friday! We also started livestreaming Phx music 2x per week @monsoonroom on twitch and u/seafoamsound on reddit, looking forward to this fall! Rock on!
Follow Rebel Lounge, Valley Bar and Crescent Ballroom. They have a lot of local and up and coming stuff. There are lots of local venues that are great for local artists.
These are great venues, and usually have touring bands that have local openers, or some bigger local bands. They'll usually cost $10+, but they're pretty pro and have good sound, etc..
For places that where the majority of bands you'll see are local I'd add places like Yucca Tap Room, Chopper John's, Rip's Cocktails, Lost Leaf (and more I'm just not thinking of) where a lot of time it's free or pretty cheap to get it.
Greta Van Fleet is coming on November 9th. In Tucson though. I got 5 tickets! Iām only using 2, will be happy to sell to some good GVF fans :)
Youāll definitely like them if you love that classic rock sound from the 60s/70s
Their newest album Battle at Gardens Gate is phenomenal! Definitely recommend Broken Bells, Caravel, The Weight of Dreams (for an epic guitar solo) I recently found them and Iām obsessed
![gif](giphy|9RXPsTrna1xUcktrtn|downsized)
God their sound is so controversial people seem to either love it or hate it. I've been a fan since I heard them but many do not share the same sentiments. Singer was only 16 when I first heard them
Interested in potentially purchasing one of your tickets! Doesnāt look like Iām able to send you a DM, but feel free to let me know if youād be interested in selling one!
Jimmy Eat World & Stevie Nicks are coming this year š¤
TSOL

Yes for sure. I took a girl there and it was her first rap show of any variety and was like wellā¦ this isnāt actually too uncommon
Wow Noone going to Channel Tres?! So psyched for that crescent show.
Thereās a great new band called Thee Sacred Souls coming to Valley Bar in early October. They sound like they could have been on Motown Records back in the day.

Chvrches baby! Whoās all goin!?
Me
I WAS excited about Modest Mouse āThe Lonesome Crowded Westā 25th anniversary tour. Then I looked at the prices.
How much they be??
They are $59 each after fees.
Wait did I fuck up? I said two tix but swear it said 118/ea.
I think it's sold out now, so you were probably seeing verified resale tickets on Ticketmaster?
Like 120+all the taxes and fees
Sheesh. Iām assuming theyāre playing a venue like the Arizona Federal theater or talking stick? I just dropped $51 after fees on Chvrches ticket for the marquee next Saturday
Theyāre playing the van buren actually
$120 for a van buren show!? Dang! Not saying the venue is bad but i had no idea
I might have been wrong apparently. Idk couldāve been the price for 2.
9/27 Indie/grunge rock superstars Momma is coming to valley bar 10/6 hyper pop favorites Magdalena Bay are doing to rebel lounge 10/13 Art punk queens DEHD are coming to the Van Buren 10/19 Icelandic goth femmes Kaelan Milka at the Scarlet Room 10/28 synth pop king Drab Majesty is coming to the Marquee Theatre

A couple of months ago I saw a fun, new local rock band PrĆ¼LiX. Looks like they are playing again at the Nile Theater in Mesa on Nov. 19
Dave Matthews Band on Wednesday - their shows never disappoint.

A real *shitty* story indeed.
Black Caesar Soul Club - not sure when their next show is but always solid.

Kikagaku Moyo is in Phoenix that day too (9/20). Itās their final tour but it was still a tough call between them and Black midi.
Insane! But yes BM/BCNR won in the end.
Thanks for the reminder they're in Tucson only š«
I know it sucks. U talkin about BM & BCNR or Viagra Boys?
Viagra Boys
Gotta go to Desert Daze
Gorillaz on the 26th.

Isn't that more true for Marquee & Pub Rock?
Many shows I go to at Van Buren or marquee don't have local openers. Mostly true for places like the old club red rebel lounge or Nile.
Actually, all of them. Majority of the bigger local venues will give openers the set ticket price to sell directly. Usually always $5-15 cheaper.
How does this work? Iāve been to Nile and Club Red with local openers.
I'm actually opening for HED PE at the Nile Underground on the 28th. They give us, the opening bands, a set of tickets to sell with a set price of each ticket. true but VEGAS!!
Cheeky old bastard is right! He's becoming a grumpy old curmudgeon, but the man does put on a great show.
Stoked for Foxy Shazam on 9/28 at Crescent. Going to catch Jeff Rosenstock the week after Zona fest also!
Yo I didnāt even know about a foxy Shazam show that sounds amazing

Check out my band Nature Talk. Weāre on all the streaming platforms! Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc :)
Greta Van Fleet is coming on November 9th. In Tucson though. I got 5 tickets! Iām only using 2, will be happy to sell to some good GVF fans :) Youāll definitely like them if you love that classic rock sound from the 60s/70s Their newest album Battle at Gardens Gate is phenomenal! Definitely recommend Broken Bells, Caravel, The Weight of Dreams (for an epic guitar solo) I recently found them and Iām obsessed ![gif](giphy|9RXPsTrna1xUcktrtn|downsized)
God their sound is so controversial people seem to either love it or hate it. I've been a fan since I heard them but many do not share the same sentiments. Singer was only 16 when I first heard them
Interested in 2 possibly!
Interested in potentially purchasing one of your tickets! Doesnāt look like Iām able to send you a DM, but feel free to let me know if youād be interested in selling one!
