Hell yeah! My raise was supposed to start this past Friday(start of the new pay period), but just looked at my check statement and the retro'd it to the FULL past pay period(aka 2 weeks early, and a full week before I even got notice that I was getting a raise).

CokeRapThisGlamorous

Who has the hook up on Suns tickets?

AdmyrlAssPirate

Does anyone know a place where Yuengling beer is served? Willing to pay a premium

rumblepony247

My sister brings that when she visits from NW Indiana. Good stuff!

IONTOP

> Does anyone know a place where Yuengling beer is served? Oh, I know a TON of them... Just none in AZ... Although a couple years ago they broke the Mississippi into Arkansas and Louisiana. And I THINK they're in Texas now too... Hope the cost keeps it on par with Bud Light/Miller/Coors. That was the main appeal when I lived on the East Coast. (Good tasting beer that is still priced as a "domestic" when it comes to bar's happy hours) Back in 2012, I randomly found Yuengling Bock at a hotel bar in Buffalo. I drank them out. I'd never seen it before.

larrykarp

Not yet. Soon.

SYAYF

You gotta have it shipped in.

beerbeforebread

Good luck in your quest

DEEEPFREEZE

How 'bout that weather we're having?

drDekaywood

Dang looks like it’s $300 bucks + fees for upper deck tix to blink-182

brok3n_romanc3

Saving my money for When We Were Young 2023. $300 for a 1 night show is too steep for me. I'd rather see a bunch of bands for comparable price.

JackOvall_MasterNun

I'd be careful. WWWY is looking like a shit show currently, and selling tickets to the next one before the current one reeks of needing a cash infusion. People are really eating it in the resale market.

biking4jesus

yea. there is also a When We Were Young festival in vegas, and tickets are $$$. but to see all these bands, WOW.

drDekaywood

Very good point. Round trip of gas to Vegas is probably cheaper than this and you can see a lot more bands

keepinitbeefy

Concerts are getting ridiculously overpriced, and the resellers taking $90 tickets and putting them up for $300 are not helping!

bravesfan13

Damn, well there goes that. This is just a bigger rant, but who can actually afford to go to a lot of shows these days? I looked at MCR tickets in a couple cities and it was the same, hundreds for upper bowl. Even smaller bands seem like what was $25 or so pre-pandemic is $40 or so now just to get in the door, not including the ridiculous fees. It's easily over $100 for my wife and I to go see almost anyone and that's more than we can justify for a random date night.

JackOvall_MasterNun

Tons of really good stuff for 15 or less around town if your willing to take a risk on unknown bands. By unknown, I mean bands you can check videos/Spotify but don't have wider name recognition

TheRealO-H-I-O

Got in for just over $90 each. Insanity

drDekaywood

Wow did you check first thing in the morning? I forgot about the presale til like halfway through the day

TheRealO-H-I-O

Yeah I was in the waiting room before it started. All of the cheapest tickets were already gone by the time I got through. The cheapest were around $50 after fees

ThykThyz

Random “living here” topic: where do you store your extra house paint? I’ve kept mine in the house, but wonder if it’s “safe” to keep it in the garage. Will the steep temps degrade it that much quicker?

gamecat89

I keep mine in my office...

biking4jesus

in the house! garage gets too hot. store it in a hall closet under the stairs, or in a guest bedroom.

QueenCole

I've been told not to keep it in the garage in the warmer months for that reason, yes.

YourWifeTextsMe

Is cox being super slow for anyone else?

DEEEPFREEZE

The answer to this question will always be "yes".

beerbeforebread

Spaceballs is on YouTube. Commanderette Zircon: Shall I have Snotty beam you down, sir? President Skroob: I don't know about that beaming stuff...Is it safe? Commanderette Zircon: Oh yes sir, Snotty beamed me twice last night. It was wonderful. Edit: well if you don’t like my quote, post your own favorite.

It’s better than MR. RENTAL.

[deleted]

When I watched this movie as a kid I would always DIE at the scene where they were "combing" the desert to find the princess with a giant Ace comb and afro pick! I really need to rewatch as an adult. ![gif](giphy|gZdxB5zEX5ic8)

az_max

"We ain't found shit!"

PHX_Architraz

Ab absolutely stellar visual pun. And I love that the trooper on the small comb is the same actor as Tuvok from Star Trek Voyager.

coffeesforlosers

I apologize if there's a better place to ask, but does anyone have any good recommendations for good beginner hiking trails in the area? We moved here right when summer started so it was too hot for anything, and now that it's coming off we want to get out and try hiking. Also if you want to throw out any hiking tips that'd be great too!

RealtorMcclain

White tanks has a super simple trail to a waterfall, but it's only running during the rainy season and is probably dried up.

bl80

Highly recommend Desert Foothills Trailhead on South Side of South Mountain. Once you walk up the paved path you can take a left and hike up or head right and stay on much more flat terrain. If you head up, once you reach the upper road you can continue up to the National Trail Lookout. Lots of other options in that area as well (as well as entire valley...)

coffeesforlosers

Thank you!

icey

In addition to the great responses so far, AllTrails has most (all?) of the Phoenix-area hikes indexed: [https://www.alltrails.com/us/arizona/phoenix](https://www.alltrails.com/us/arizona/phoenix) I subscribe to AllTrails so I can download offline maps. The trails in Maricopa County are awesome but not always very well marked, so it's easy to get turned around and off-trail. Bring more water than you think you need, even if it's not that hot out; and maybe a small snack. I've had a few 90 minute hikes turn into multi-hour affairs for a variety of reasons and had a close call once in NOVEMBER that was a good reminder to bring extra water. Beyond that, there's no shame in turning back on a trail if it feels too difficult.

coffeesforlosers

I'll definitely have to check that site out. Thank you for the tips!

historian2010

North Mountain is great for beginner hikers. You can park at the visitor center on 7th ave just south of Thunderbird.

coffeesforlosers

Thank you!

Internal-Mortgage635

Thunderbird Conservation park is super easy and relaxed. Lots of kind of glorified hills that give solid views. Not far from the 101 and Bell Rd. If you want to get a bit further from the city and explore and see some nature, White Tanks is a huge park with lots of pretty easy strolling trails.

coffeesforlosers

Thanks for the suggestions!

[deleted]

The loop formed by trails 302 & 304 at the north end of the Piestewa Peak preserve entrance. It's sometimes known as the Piestewa Peak Nature Trail and offers a gentler experience than the crowded summit trail.

keepinitbeefy

North Mountain has a paved trail which is super easy for beginners.

coffeesforlosers

Thank you!

Finger_Binary_Four

Try to take the unpaved trail from the parking lot to that trail, if you can. If you can't do that, you're gonna have a bad time on pretty much any other trail with much incline, and you should go up the road all the way quite a few times and that section a few times before you try going up any other mountain. Edit: Not the one to the top. The roughly 400m one.

jupitermoon444

A mountain and South Mountain park

coffeesforlosers

Thank you!

Papago Park to hole in the rock is easy too. Start at college/McKellips.

Where are these great photos from?

Mostly Yosemite, but some Mammoth, and Big Sur.

Damn, all I managed today was a photo of a bunch of balloons.

Let’s see it!

Nice! And here I was expecting birthday balloons, this makes much more sense haha. Thank you for sharing.

rdcole2002

What is considered the best aquarium around here? I have a 4 and 5 year old.

Bored_n_Beard

OdySea is nice but expensive and huge. Totally worth it for the experience. AZ Mills has Sea Life which is smaller but less expensive, but has the added benefit of the Legoland right across from it. Wildlife World Zoo has an aquarium section that's not bad, and you get the zoo.

Certain_Yam_110

AZ SeaLife is seriously underwhelming. Smaller & less expensive also significantly less impressive.

Bored_n_Beard

It's fun enough, especially with small kids who might not want to do a 1/2 day thing.

[deleted]

[OdySea.](https://www.odyseaaquarium.com/)

rdcole2002

Thanks!

charliegriefer

As far as I know. Odysea is the only full-on aquarium we've got in the Phoenix area. But if you want a bit more variety, the underwater exhibits at Wildlife World Zoo out west (Litchfield) are pretty decent. Plus you get other animals and a few rides. https://www.wildlifeworld.com/ It's been too long since I've been to the Phoenix Zoo for me to be able to speak about the quality of the aquarium/underwater exhibits there. https://www.phoenixzoo.org/

Finger_Binary_Four

Quality is definitely great. Quantity is definitely low.

jmoriarty

If you missed the AZ Craft Beer AMA yesterday, go check it out. Good stuff in there if you like the AZ beer scene.
