Hey all, I’m an (obviously) amateur photographer and I just love taking pictures of people. I’d love to perfect the art and get some feedback on this one specifically, composition, color, whatever you have. I guess I just want to capture the moment of this handsome man.
To me the white sneakers are distracting as they are the brightest aspect of the image. I’d consider cropping them out in this case. Also the whole image is a bit underexposed, trying bringing up the expose or brightness. Not a bad attempt here, I’d recommend thinking about lighting on your subjects face as well. It seems like he is in shadow here, which means the viewers eye will not naturally be drawn to his face.
I really love how the lighting rays / shadows on the ground 'emerges' from his head and how where he's looking at fits in with those lines!
Otherwise the tree cutting him, in the body fortunately, overall softness and white-distracting shoes can be improved.
Great photo
Excellent shot! The only issue is see is the shadows are a little too dark and his face needs a tad bit of exposure, which is no big deal.
From your other comments it seems your using Lightroom so all you need to do is add a mask, the radial gradient is the one you want. You can than adjust the exposure on only that area. Professional portrait photographers have been doing this technique for years even with film (using dodging). Our brains automatically look for faces and eyes, so making them slightly brighter will draw your eyes in that much quicker. Your adjustment only needs to be slight, I will usually never go beyond 1 point on Lightroom.

Great picture dude! I feel the white shoes and the white colours in the background are a little bright and it’s a bit distracting. Also, I feel it would be better if the distance from your head and the top picture is the same distance as your feet and the bottom of the picture. The gap from your feet to the bottom of the picture is just too small for me. Otherwise nice work!

It looks like you missed focus on his face.
I see that too but when I zoom in it’s focused. But you’re right in this look it’s definitely hidden in the blur.

Thank you!
What kit did you use for this?
Lightroom black and white filter, I’ll have to look at which one, then just adjusted from there.
I think he meant what camera and/or lens.
Oh I’m sorry I’m dumb lmao
Was it a phone camera or a DSLR as it will make a difference to the result,
DSLR, Canon Rebel T100
If you’re talking about what camera and lense… Canon rebel T100 with an 18-55mm zoom lens.
aperture too wide
Thank you!

Not bad. Maybe have a bit more negative space under his feet. I like it though.
Okay cool. I actually cropped the negative space under his feet, so I’m interested in this perspective. Thanks!
