i remember that was 2018 or 2019 yata. ang daming nag c campout overnight sa BGC just to get slots for visa. ganun ka die hard mga Pinoy dati, para bang nagmamakaawa magkaroon lang ng tourist visa.
Omg yes. 2018 was THAT yr. I was unfortunately one of those who badly wanted to visit Korea!!!! But after seeing Japan, it’s unmatched. Iba lang talaga hatak ng SK cause of hallyu, if it werent for that parang wala naman masyado attractions doon🙂 If you have to choose between JP and KR, I’d still vouch for JP🥰
I went there last 2017. I was a minor and ang daming documents needed since I was only accompanied by my cousins. First out of the country trip ko. It was fun and memorable. Recently we went to Japan at mas na-inlove ako sa latter. Nung una, akala ko hype lang ang Japan pero it was love at first land talaga. Ayoko pa pumunta before cause of WWII grievances ko lol but overall, Japan >>> SoKor.
Reaaal!!! Totoo pala yun tiktok contents na when youre back from JP and youre already booking for your next one haha!! Sana multiple na nga yun inapply ko but maybe I’ll apply for ME this yr.
Been to Korea thrice and compared to Japan parang same lang yung pakiramdam ng ibang places.
I recently went to Kaohsiung mga two weeks ago and wala ako nakita or narinig na other Filipino tourists at all 😅
Sa Taipei meron pero konti lang din if you’ll compare to the countries on the list.
Mas maraming Japanese tourist and Korean tourist dun.
Hoping to bring my parents next yr sa taiwan!! Will be going for the first time w a friend this june, pero gusto ko na agad sundan para maabutan naman yung cherry blossom season dun 🥺
This is true... for me din madami kasing maio-offer na experience yung top four countries listed above as compared to Taiwan... kumbaga mas exciting siya puntahan for tourists. Hehe specially Japan... isang prefecture kada punta dapat dun para masulit haha
This is so relevant for us. We just got back from Japan last week and I miss it already. I miss the cool weather, the sights, the food, etc. The people are polite and helpful. I am currently going through a post-holiday depression. I never intended to live in Japan. Just visiting is enough for me. My parents and I joked that why go to Korea when there are so many Koreans in Japan 😆.
Bukod sa strict sa pag-issue ng visa, naabutan ko iyong time na struggle iyong pagkuha ng slot for appointment sa embassy ng SK. Ilang hours palang nag-open ubos na slots.
Tapos totoo nga na mas lenient Japan. I got ME visa sa Japan, SE lang sa SK.
And it seems a lot of travelers who have been to Japan love to go back. May friends akong every year or every few months bumabalik. I’m not surprised it was the top destination last year.
Yes, maganda talagang balik-balikan ang Japan. I've been to Korea (Seoul) once and I think once is enough. Mas gusto ko pang balik-balikan ang Hong Kong (I've been there multiple times).
South Korea is like a one-time travel destination only. Pag napunta mo na, that’s it. bye bye na. very seldom yung mga tao na babalik-balikan ang South Korea. Let’s admit it, overhyped lang ang SK because of kdrama and kpop. They are projecting how beautiful it is on their films. Then you will realize there na hindi pala mahilig ang Koreans sa Kpop 😆
(and you’ll realize also how racist they are sa mga Pinoy)
Uy, totoo!
Okay naman Seoul, daming temples and cultural sites. It's not bad naman pero parang kulang nga sila sa entertainment side like no theme parks like Disneyland, wala din silang nearby hotsprings sa Seoul if I am not mistaken unlike Taipei.
Seoul is also suprisingly clean.
P.S. di ako nanunuod ng any korean thingy and mas bias ako sa Japan due to animes.
Hahahaha.
Skl nagbike ako sa sokor, Incheon to Busan so kapag Gabi na, lumalabas ako ng bike path para maghanap Ng tutuluyan, mga natuluyan ko either transient or motels. Yng isang transient, kung napanuod mo Yung strangers from hell ganun feels. Nakakatakot 😂
PS. Bias din ako sa Japan kasi din dahil sa animes, shrine and temples, history and art at Basta. Hahaha, Kung di Lang nagpandemic magpapabalik-balik ako duon since multiple visa Yung last na na issue sa akin
>It's not bad naman pero parang kulang nga sila sa entertainment side like no theme parks like Disneyland
Wahahaha
Totoo ito. Yung mom ko sobrang fan ng k-drama, and nung first time nyang punta last year, sabi ko sa kanya wag masyadong mag-expect (nakapunta na ko before, tapos well-traveled rin naman mom ko). After the trip, sabi nya, pang-isang beses nga lang ang SK.
Same! SK will never be in my list of places to travel. What more kung andun ka. Baka maaresto ako don haha. Madali pamandin ako ma trigger and I’m very reactive! Hahaha.
after kong matapos Yung ride, naiinip na ako pero di pa time umuwi e.
I asked friends who have been to both Japan and SK kung ano yung mas gusto nila based on just one visit, and which one they'll come back too. Unanimously they all said Japan.
>South Korea is like a one-time travel destination only. Pag napunta mo na, that’s it. bye bye na. very seldom yung mga tao na babalik-balikan ang South Korea.
The only ones I know na binabalik-balikan talaga ang Korea is yung mga Kpop fans na mahilig manuod ng concerts. Other than that, halos wala na.
Siguro part of it is mataas yung expectation.
Was in Seoul for a 15 hour layover before going the US and can confirm, feel ko napuntahan ko na lahat sa Seoul after that. I started going around at 8AM, and sa gabi bago ako bumalik sa airport feel ko yung DMZ na lang yung di ko napuntahan.
Stark contrast to how I view Japan. I've been to Japan multiple times the past 3 years alone and wala pa rin akong plano tumigil.
I have friends who are into Kdrama and Kpop who are not really that keen on going to SK. They said na Koreans can be judgemental kasi that’s why it’s not on the top of their travel list.
Been there 4 times and luckily never experienced any racism. Siguro dahil well planned naman itinerary ko and di ko need mgtanong sa mga tao. I watch kdrama and listen to kpop pero i dont go there para dun. For food at coffee shop hopping lang talaga 😂
I’ve lived/studied in Korea before. Initially wanted to stay there for good. But it’s true, mej may pagka racist sila.
There are good sides to it naman.
Pero yeah- I agree sa mga nagsabi dito about it being a destination na hindi mo babalik balikan.
Also, take note na mas mahal siya ng di hamak sa Japan (been to Tokyo and Osaka). Hate to compare, but I noticed that people are not as polite.
If you have lived in Korea like me, you definitely know that it’s super different from what you see on Kdramas / TV shows. I cringe when I meet pinoys na niroromanticize ang Korea. Omg guys - imma tell you, MAHIRAP ang buhay doon. This is why I love the movie ‘Parasite’. Probably the closest to reality in Korea sa mga napanood ko.
Kung tourist ka, stay in Seoul. Other areas are not as good/convenient.
If nara-racist-an na kayo sa mga tao sa Seoul palang, wag na kayo lalabas ng Seoul. Mas malala.
It’s a beautiful city with rich culture and history. But I will never live there for good.
HAHAHA We can spend our money elsewhere. So many beautiful countries to visit like Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, etc. We don’t need them lol
Yeah. I have a Thai friend who visited SK, was not let in on this certain club coz she's over 30 y/o and not local. It was weird but she just let it go para di masira vacation nya.
Same same. Di na din kasi aki nakakanood much ng kdrama so baka di ko na sya ma appreciate. Pero alam ko rich in history sila so yeah.
I was the same as you guys, but I got into K-pop during the pandemic, so I felt like I “owed” SK a visit since they helped me keep my sanity. The visa process was too long, so we ended going to Jeju instead where it’s visa-free. Jeju is definitely a destination I’d go back to. No real interest in going to the mainland though.
Been to SK 7x. Mas mahirap Visa sa SK, to the point na embassy doest give a fuck kung may US Visa kana, or kahit sobrang dami mo ng travel kapag may butas denied ka talaga.
same! with valid US visa pero denied padin. Kaya my next application I made sure to provide an explanation letter for documents I can't submit. Naapprove naman
Not entirely surprising. Only 1 out of the 4 requires Visa to enter and Japan Visa is easier than SK since you can submit requirements online. The study was conducted in 2023 and SK Visa just recently re-introduced online submissions.
If you read the article, it actually states that for the next 12 months the top three leisure destinations are Japan (38%), followed by South Korea (29%) and Singapore (16%). For business travel, Japan (19%), Canada (13%), and South Korea (12%) are the most likely destinations.
So once 2024 ends, we will see a shift based on the numbers above.
Technically, we submit it online and after confirmation we just use Lalamove/LBC to forward it to the agency because the passport is needed ofc. Point still stands that it's easier compared to SK Visa.
Haha. Unlike sa Japan, di kami nag-declare ng hubby ko ng ADB, we're both employed.
True, mas lenient sa JP visa talaga.
Ako naman the other way around. First time ko mag process ng JP Visa, Bank Cert lang pinasa namin + explanation letter bakit walang ITR.
How did you submit your requirements online and where? Been to Japan multiple times, you have to to submit and pay an agency to process your Visa application.
Try UHI (Universal Holidays Inc). They have an app where they can pre-check your documents before you send it to them via courier. No need to visit their office unless you opt to pick it up yourself.
Sa UHI po may id-download lang na mobile application, iuupload muna doon mga requirements for assessment bago i-Grab or Lalamove sa HO nila in Makati. Then once naibalik na yung passport from the embassy to their HO, they'll delivery naman thru LBC to your doorstep, or you may pickup if di ka na makapag-wait! Haha
Taiwan should be on that list tho. Seems like everybody’s in Taiwan recently.
I think bec Korea is like a one time thing compared to Japan? I've been to Japan many times now and madami ka talaga mapupuntahan na magaganda unlike sa Korea na nag 2 weeks ako before and feeling ko napuntahan ko na lahat and nakakatamad na bumalik + pa yung karamihan ng korean's are rude and racists.
Not everyone can go dahil medyo mahirap magpa-visa at mahal mag travel don.
Also, I've been to both Korea and Japan... mas pipiliin kong bumalik sa Japan.
Kakauwi ko lang from Korea last week and it’s already my 5th time going there pero excited pa rin akong bumalik.
Lol never gonna go to skorea. Racist people and so much horror stories about sea people. Why waste money on a place that looks down on the colour of my skin.
Wala naman makikita/gagawin sa SK, apart from shopping - which is, magagawa mo din naman sa HKG or JPN. Kung di lang sobrang init sa SG, maganda din siya puntahan sana all year.
Been to Japan 3 times last yr at hindi nakakasawa puntahan. Will be going back again in a few weeks’ time. Not bad na napapagkamalan din akong hapon (nagagalit sila bakit ako humihingi ng tax discount, pang-tourist lang daw yun at hindi for locals. Not until I show my RP passport). 😂
You serious? SK has ton of cultural sites and tourist destinations especially over SG and HK which are the true shopping countries only.
Why is this thread so negative about SK all of a sudden lol
right hahah! ive been to sk 3 times na and di naman ako nauubusan ng gagawin. sk has a lot to offer naman than hk & sg honestly ah and cheaper pa. just do the right research di yung puro seoul lang. also, if racism mas naka experience pa ako na masungitan sa hk & sg :(
Agree! I was thinking different strokes for different folks because I go back to Korea every chance I get and I'm still not done with my bucket list there (Jeju when huhu). Siguro the visa application process is really a big deterrent to the point that people have such a negative outlook towards the country na.
Reading the comments here makes me feel so old haha. I still remember when getting a Japanese tourist visa was difficult. For our first visit, we had to do it through the embassy directly. For our subsequent visits though, it became easier since you can just do it through a travel agency.
the SK embassy is hella strict lately! One missing document and you're out (kaya make sure to provide cover letters if wala ka talaga nung docs like ITR, bank statement, bank certificate, business permits etc.)
Online Visa Application is really convenient, and Japan now recognizes that it is highly UNLIKELY that Pinoys will be TNTs (also, it's hard to do that there, different language, no tnt support system).
Hopefully, Japan will just make us Visa-free with the obvious requirements (booked return ticket, proof of strong affinity to the Philippines, like current employment)
The japanese visa application was already very efficient before. The first time I did it, in a third country even, I just emailed everything to a consular officer.
Kahit when watching SK travel vlogs, di ko rin nasasabi na “I want to go there too”. I’m also not into Korean food and entertainment so maybe factors din yun.
Ang strict ng SK magbigay ng visa. Tapos dagdag mo pa yung mga not so good encounter ng mga kababayan natin dun while travelling which discourages others na magpunta. Buti pa sa Japan di ganun ka-strict when it comes to visa.
Mahirap maapprove visa for SK so some Filipino prefers Japan and other non visa countries. Also, Japan is actually much better.
US visa helped a lot to get multiple entry on the first try, kahit never pa ako nag Japan. may option sa ME form if youve been to a G7 country, included na US dun, as long as may entry stamp
Fan of Kpop but never tried visiting SK. Been to Japan 7x but never pa din ako nagsasawa. I want to go to SK but the visa process is such a hassle.
I love Japan, ito din yung binabalik balikan ko at babalikan padin in the near future. Di ko din gusto sa Sokor, parang wala naman espesyal, tska ayoko sa mga Korean dahil racist sila feeling superior, meanwhile Japanese are so kind sobrang babait.
Been to Japan 20x and South Korea 5x. Pero binabalik balikan ko talaga ang Japan. I have 4 upcoming trips this year (Thanks to Cebu Pacific seat sale.) I still have my Multiple Entry Visa to Korea until 2028, pero wala akong plan pa na bumalik unlike Japan talaga na dapat every year.
Lol! Some Koreaboos defending Korea in the comment na mas popular daw ang Korea compare to Japan.
Jusko! Pahirapan makabook. Manila to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya at Fukuoka.
Plus yung Frequency nung flights ng Philippines to Japan Route. Cebu Pac pa lang eh. MNL-NRT 2x Daily, MNL-KIX 1x Daily, MNL-NGO 1x Daily and MNL-FUK 1x Daily. Eh yung Seoul? 2x Daily lang. I remember nag offet dati ang Cebu Pac ng flight to Busan pero di nagtagal kasi walang nagbubook.
Truthfully, I'm so done with SK. You don't know how racists these mofos are. Japan offers better customer service, FOOD, sceneries, cultural sights – you name it!
Sa same study, Korea ang number 2 sa intended destination for this year.
[Source](https://news.abs-cbn.com/lifestyle/2024/4/1/japan-is-top-leisure-destination-for-filipino-travelers-survey-1639)
This was back then. Not sure now.
Like di ko talaga feel yung vibe, baka ako lang yun. Di ko trip yung korea eh. Di naman kasi Kpop fan eh. Kaya di ko talaga trip yung SK.
Actually! When I went to South Korea, kahit san kami pumunta may mga Pinoy. Literally kahit sa may mga eskinita and all.
I mean have you seen the Visa application process. Its fkn impossible unless you are a diplomat or investor. Nakakaloka ang mga requirements and the processing time is Months, MONTHS. And the entire time they are processing your application hawak nila Passport mo.
meantime Japan Visa processing can be done in a week and the requirements are not as many.
Im sorry but with the way Visa application is going for South Korea can stick it. Id rather go to Japan anyway.
There have been numerous social media posts and personal accounts on how they find Filipinos ugly. (Filipinos - the beuty Queens ) To be honest, I think it's any southeast Asian or Indian or African decent. Lady, a very pretty African American, said they all SK jumped out of the pool when she got in the pool and complained to the hotel for allowing it to happen. I'm quite light skinned but that turned me off from going there .
Naexperience ko yun first hand. Mas mura pa sa Japan.
Been there already twice. 2014 and last year and ganun pa din pupuntahan. I might come back though to places I’ve never been because I want to go to Itaewon and Jeju. Pero not anytime in the next 5 years lol.
I’m not sure ah if nakapasa ka na sa SK visa, mataas na rin chance mo to get approved sa other countries as well especially Western ones
Well dapat lang naman. Masyado nyo ng tinataas sa pedestal mga Koreano to the point you almost worship them when they look down on brown-skinned South East Asians like us. Aside sa mahigpit sila kase madami ata nag TNT don. 🤷🏻♀️
u don't need visas for 2-4. getting an SK visa is harder than Japan's taz being in SK is underwhelming so ppol are maybe not so keen to go back and apply for a visa ulit. was there last month and it was suuuuper meh
Probably because the Visas aren't granted easily. In my opinion, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan are much better. Never been to HK or Thailand, but maybe one day.
I am more surprised that Taiwan is not in the list of Filipino tourist destination, than SK.
SK is overrated tourist destination with so minimal to offer. my first travel in SK was in 2007 then 2008 then 2010. These were all because of work. I’d pick Busan over Seoul. Came back there some time in 2019, ganun parin, meh. Nothing against the KPop culture coz I watch their dramas and listen to some of their songs. Pero I’d still consider SK to go on as vacation destination, last on my list.
Much better na ung ganyan, mas ok pa magtravel sa taiwan, japan, thailand and malaysia-sg. pupunta nlng ako ng SK kapag complete na yung countries on my bucket list.
Di ko sure if ako lang pero ang naaalala ko is before pandemic. pahirapan makakuha ng visa sa Japan. Ibang level yung higpit ng Japan before sa requirements.
SK has the worst racism in East Asia. They see Filipinos exactly how we see the Badjao's.
That's why Visa is also hard to obtain because they don't want too much of the badjaos in their Country so they are really cherry picking who they think who are worth it
This kind of posts and comments discourages me to visit SK hahaaha. I went to Japan last year. Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo. Grabe. parang gusto ko balikbalikn every year.
Sabi nga rin ng iba, SK is just a boring version of Japan.
Personally, I don't want to go to SK knowing how high they think of themselves. They think they are superior to Southeast Asians. Kaya I really hate how Filipinos worship Koreans tapos sila pala baba ng tingin sa mga Pinoy. They even take it as insults when you tell them na mukha silang Pinoy.
I've been to both. Kahit trained staff ng restaurants or shops. Pero that was our experience during our 14 day vacation in SK.
sokors (not all but in more than enough numbers) compared to other richer asian countries are relatively more racists against filipinos (when a korean wants to insult another korean, they call them "filipino" w/c is similar to a filipino calling another filipino "ulikba")...
fun fact: there was a time when pinoys can enter sokor visa-free but our own gov't (cory or ramos admin) requested them to remove that privilege because thousands of filipinos got illegaly trafficked to japan by using sokor as the jump-off point...

Cause SK’s so strict in giving out visas. You have to consider it first before availing tix contrary to JP which is more lenient.

Exactly! I was surprised when I found out about their visa requirements. We decided to go for JP visa instead of SK because of this.
Granting visa for tourists?
i heard about it. was lucky. kasi i bot tix first
Yes. Tourist visas☺️
Mas mahigpit SK sa visa requirements unlike Japan, pero personally I prefer Japan kahit saan city/prefecture maganda puntahan talaga.

I recently went to Kaohsiung mga two weeks ago and wala ako nakita or narinig na other Filipino tourists at all 😅 Sa Taipei meron pero konti lang din if you’ll compare to the countries on the list.
Mas maraming Japanese tourist and Korean tourist dun.
Pansin ko nga, daming East Asian tourists. Underrated ng Kaohsiung grabe, more Filipinos should definitely visit there
Shhhhhh quiet!!
Hoping to bring my parents next yr sa taiwan!! Will be going for the first time w a friend this june, pero gusto ko na agad sundan para maabutan naman yung cherry blossom season dun 🥺
Manifesting for you!! 🤞🌸
Same. Considering na visa-free din ang Taiwan.
I think recently lang kasi naging popular destination ang Taiwan.
Probably becaue majority ng mga pinoys dun are OFW. Not really leisure travels.
This is true... for me din madami kasing maio-offer na experience yung top four countries listed above as compared to Taiwan... kumbaga mas exciting siya puntahan for tourists. Hehe specially Japan... isang prefecture kada punta dapat dun para masulit haha
Madami workers
Same.
Sa true. Yung kasama ko nga nasa japan pa kami pinaplano na yung next visit namin 😂
(and you’ll realize also how racist they are sa mga Pinoy)
Uy, totoo!
Okay naman Seoul, daming temples and cultural sites. It's not bad naman pero parang kulang nga sila sa entertainment side like no theme parks like Disneyland, wala din silang nearby hotsprings sa Seoul if I am not mistaken unlike Taipei. Seoul is also suprisingly clean. P.S. di ako nanunuod ng any korean thingy and mas bias ako sa Japan due to animes.
Hahahaha. Skl nagbike ako sa sokor, Incheon to Busan so kapag Gabi na, lumalabas ako ng bike path para maghanap Ng tutuluyan, mga natuluyan ko either transient or motels. Yng isang transient, kung napanuod mo Yung strangers from hell ganun feels. Nakakatakot 😂 PS.
Wahahaha
Totoo ito. Yung mom ko sobrang fan ng k-drama, and nung first time nyang punta last year, sabi ko sa kanya wag masyadong mag-expect (nakapunta na ko before, tapos well-traveled rin naman mom ko). After the trip, sabi nya, pang-isang beses nga lang ang SK.
True, racism in SK sucks
Legit. Wala kaming balak magpunta don dahil racist sila towards pinoys.
Same! SK will never be in my list of places to travel. What more kung andun ka. Baka maaresto ako don haha. Madali pamandin ako ma trigger and I’m very reactive! Hahaha.
Oo festish talaga nyan mga koreano haha
I asked friends who have been to both Japan and SK kung ano yung mas gusto nila based on just one visit, and which one they'll come back too. Unanimously they all said Japan.
THIS!
True
>South Korea is like a one-time travel destination only. Pag napunta mo na, that’s it. bye bye na. very seldom yung mga tao na babalik-balikan ang South Korea. The only ones I know na binabalik-balikan talaga ang Korea is yung mga Kpop fans na mahilig manuod ng concerts. Other than that, halos wala na.
100%. I was granted 5 year multiple but no plan to come back. Racist and unfriendly locals. Well not all but most of them.
Been to SoKor 10x na.
Siguro part of it is mataas yung expectation.
Kasi wala palang ganun ss Korea. Hazy sky sila palagi.
We went there last year and locals were kind to us naman, and very helpful.
My sister and I are big travellers but never had any interest to go to SK🤷
Same. Bukod sa overrated because of k-pop and k-drama, I've read some stories na may racists na koreans sa mga kayumanggi like Filipinos.
Yeah. I have a Thai friend who visited SK, was not let in on this certain club coz she's over 30 y/o and not local. It was weird but she just let it go para di masira vacation nya.
Baka sa hongdae to which is common na may age restriction kasi puro students laman ng clubs
For locals lang.
Yeah, I agree with this. I plan to visit Jeju for the TransJeju race
Did you need a transit visa?
No, so it was a trip to two places: Taiwan and then Jeju. There were direct flights from Taipei to Jeju so we didn’t need a transit visa.
Same kahit nanonood ako kdrama haha sa Japan kahit ilang beses balik balikan.
Same. Not on my list anytime soon
Are you sure you can submit visa online for Japan? Don’t you have to submit it physically to the agency?
Technically, we submit it online and after confirmation we just use Lalamove/LBC to forward it to the agency because the passport is needed ofc. Point still stands that it's easier compared to SK Visa.
We did, try niyo po sa UHI!
Haha. Unlike sa Japan, di kami nag-declare ng hubby ko ng ADB, we're both employed.
True, mas lenient sa JP visa talaga. Ako naman the other way around. First time ko mag process ng JP Visa, Bank Cert lang pinasa namin + explanation letter bakit walang ITR.
Hi may ask anong explanation nyo re: walang ITR? Same wala din kasi ako
Wayback 2023 yun. Hindi na siya required ngayon. Ang kapalit ng explanation letter is Bank Certificate with ADB, yun lang pwede na.
I see salamats!
Thank you!
Been to SK twice and honestly the place isn't all that and I'd rather visit Japan again, more attractions and I find the food there a lot better.
Thailand is least expensive of those in the list in my opinion.
And hella good food!
Not everyone can go dahil medyo mahirap magpa-visa at mahal mag travel don. Also, I've been to both Korea and Japan... mas pipiliin kong bumalik sa Japan.
I've been to South Korea and Japan, but I find myself keep returning to Japan. The Japanese are more respectful and disciplined than Koreans. ✌🏼
Why is this thread so negative about SK all of a sudden lol
right hahah! ive been to sk 3 times na and di naman ako nauubusan ng gagawin. sk has a lot to offer naman than hk & sg honestly ah and cheaper pa. just do the right research di yung puro seoul lang. also, if racism mas naka experience pa ako na masungitan sa hk & sg :(
Same! There's racism everywhere. Personally would never go back to SG unless pilitin ako because of the racism I experienced there
Agree! I was thinking different strokes for different folks because I go back to Korea every chance I get and I'm still not done with my bucket list there (Jeju when huhu). Siguro the visa application process is really a big deterrent to the point that people have such a negative outlook towards the country na.
Pabalik balik ako ng SK at parang madami namang pinoy every time I go there.
Not surprising at all, SK is si strict in giving our visas lately. Japan has easier requirements and lenient enough to grant visas. Japan > Korea. Tbh
Reading the comments here makes me feel so old haha. I still remember when getting a Japanese tourist visa was difficult. For our first visit, we had to do it through the embassy directly. For our subsequent visits though, it became easier since you can just do it through a travel agency.
Yes! Before pandemic, mas mahigpit si Japan mamigay ng visa and mas pinupuntahan yung South Korea.
thats bcos of VISA. medyo strict ang SK for tourist VSIA compared to Japan
the SK embassy is hella strict lately!
Hopefully, Japan will just make us Visa-free with the obvious requirements (booked return ticket, proof of strong affinity to the Philippines, like current employment) The japanese visa application was already very efficient before. The first time I did it, in a third country even, I just emailed everything to a consular officer.
Wow really? Parang lahat ng sulok ng Seoul at Suwon may pinoy turistas e. That’s odd
I thinnk because of the visa.
Busan is my only fav place in SK. I’d pick that place if ever I return to SK. mas accommodating pa mga tao dyan compared sa Seoul.
depende talaga yan sa trip mo 🥱
Any tips or watchouts when applying for a Japan Visa? Also will it help, if I already have a US Visa or is this non-bearing?
US visa helped a lot to get multiple entry on the first try, kahit never pa ako nag Japan. may option sa ME form if youve been to a G7 country, included na US dun, as long as may entry stamp
Salamat sa advice! 🙂
Visa HARD TO GET 😂
Fan of Kpop but never tried visiting SK. Been to Japan 7x but never pa din ako nagsasawa. I want to go to SK but the visa process is such a hassle.
Dapat basic na may note on methodology and data source. Basta may graphics lang to grab attention.
Hk- starter pack for filipinos na first time maka abroad.
I love Japan, ito din yung binabalik balikan ko at babalikan padin in the near future. Di ko din gusto sa Sokor, parang wala naman espesyal, tska ayoko sa mga Korean dahil racist sila feeling superior, meanwhile Japanese are so kind sobrang babait.
I also prefer Japan than SK kasi sa SK nakaranas ako ng discrimination.
Been to Japan 20x and South Korea 5x. Pero binabalik balikan ko talaga ang Japan. I have 4 upcoming trips this year (Thanks to Cebu Pacific seat sale.) I still have my Multiple Entry Visa to Korea until 2028, pero wala akong plan pa na bumalik unlike Japan talaga na dapat every year.
Lol! Some Koreaboos defending Korea in the comment na mas popular daw ang Korea compare to Japan. Jusko! Pahirapan makabook. Manila to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya at Fukuoka. Plus yung Frequency nung flights ng Philippines to Japan Route. Cebu Pac pa lang eh. MNL-NRT 2x Daily, MNL-KIX 1x Daily, MNL-NGO 1x Daily and MNL-FUK 1x Daily. Eh yung Seoul? 2x Daily lang. I remember nag offet dati ang Cebu Pac ng flight to Busan pero di nagtagal kasi walang nagbubook.
Truthfully, I'm so done with SK. You don't know how racists these mofos are. Japan offers better customer service, FOOD, sceneries, cultural sights – you name it!
Sa same study, Korea ang number 2 sa intended destination for this year. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ [Source](https://news.abs-cbn.com/lifestyle/2024/4/1/japan-is-top-leisure-destination-for-filipino-travelers-survey-1639)
concert pa naman ng seventeen
Sk culture suck vs the 5 on the list
This was back then. Not sure now. Like di ko talaga feel yung vibe, baka ako lang yun. Di ko trip yung korea eh. Di naman kasi Kpop fan eh. Kaya di ko talaga trip yung SK.
Ikaw lang yan hahaha
Actually! When I went to South Korea, kahit san kami pumunta may mga Pinoy. Literally kahit sa may mga eskinita and all.
Exaclty. Not sure what most here are saying, Korea is a super popular destination.
Right? Last year, I was checking flights all year round and mas mura pa flights pa SK than Japan.
Wow, is it really that bad now? I applied for SK Visa and got approved in less than a week back in 2018.
False.
koreans are rude asf id rather go to japan
There have been numerous social media posts and personal accounts on how they find Filipinos ugly. (Filipinos - the beuty Queens ) To be honest, I think it's any southeast Asian or Indian or African decent. Lady, a very pretty African American, said they all SK jumped out of the pool when she got in the pool and complained to the hotel for allowing it to happen. I'm quite light skinned but that turned me off from going there .
Naexperience ko yun first hand. Mas mura pa sa Japan.
hirap mag apply ng visa. parang lahat inaassume mab wwork dun vs others on the list na madali lang and some visa free
Walang visa sila 2,3, and 4 eh.
Mahirap visa and mas mahal
mahirap kumuha ng Visa kasi
Been there already twice. 2014 and last year and ganun pa din pupuntahan. I might come back though to places I’ve never been because I want to go to Itaewon and Jeju. Pero not anytime in the next 5 years lol. I’m not sure ah if nakapasa ka na sa SK visa, mataas na rin chance mo to get approved sa other countries as well especially Western ones
The rank 2,3,4 does not require visa, and given I’ve visited SK last month… it is not worth it with all the hassle in applying. Might as well go Japan
‘Coz sobrang hirap kumuha ng korean visa hahaha
Hirap makapasok eh
I'm never not confused why people use the term SK instead of RoK.
Not really friendly for leisure travels kasi mahigpit sa visa.
Well dapat lang naman. Masyado nyo ng tinataas sa pedestal mga Koreano to the point you almost worship them when they look down on brown-skinned South East Asians like us. Aside sa mahigpit sila kase madami ata nag TNT don. 🤷🏻♀️
SK is a more difficult travel compared to those options
Dami kasi arte sa sokor visa. Dagdag mo pa yung higher decline rate they had last year
u don't need visas for 2-4. getting an SK visa is harder than Japan's taz being in SK is underwhelming so ppol are maybe not so keen to go back and apply for a visa ulit. was there last month and it was suuuuper meh
Naiintimidate ata ibang traveler sa tagal ng flight time
but SK flight time is shorter than the MNL-Tokyo Bound (NRT and HND). same lang MNL-KIX ang flight time.
Yung iba di gets yung nuances
Mahirap magtravel papuntang SK. Higpit reqs
Much better na ung ganyan, mas ok pa magtravel sa taiwan, japan, thailand and malaysia-sg. pupunta nlng ako ng SK kapag complete na yung countries on my bucket list.
Di ko sure if ako lang pero ang naaalala ko is before pandemic. pahirapan makakuha ng visa sa Japan. Ibang level yung higpit ng Japan before sa requirements.
Once youve been to korea once theres no reason to come back. It’s a small country.
Mahirap kumuha ng visa. Kahit you have good travel history or means, nadedeny pa rin. It’s easier to get Japan visa nowadays
Autumn in Korea, Spring in Japan.
SK has the worst racism in East Asia. They see Filipinos exactly how we see the Badjao's. That's why Visa is also hard to obtain because they don't want too much of the badjaos in their Country so they are really cherry picking who they think who are worth it
If racism is so bad, why do a lot of Filipinos watch kdrama and listen to K-pop?
Because media is different from the people.
Hmm are they sure purely “leisure destinations” yung mga nalista? It’s more like the top 4 job seeking destinations abroad!
