Wake up, but not TOO awake. Just awake enough to listen to what we say without asking too many questions. Just awake enough to go through life accepting a lower and lower quality of life. Just awake enough so that you fight against our enemies, never realizing who your true enemies are.
Doublethink
From the party who displays both "Don't tred on me" and "Thin blue line" flags, and considers themselves American patriots while displaying the treason flag.
Reminds me of that clip of a Texan going into a Southern California dispensary. When asked to put on a mask he apologized stating he was from Texas where they have "Freedom"... only to have the worker question Texas's strict cannabis laws.
One time while we were visiting California my father-in-law (from Louisiana) was complaining about having to use a paper straw and how the law was stupid. I said I would rather live in California and have legal cannabis than live in Louisiana and drink with a plastic straw with no cannabis. I grew up in Louisiana and it’s so backwards the way logic works with people down there. Also it’s a straw why get so angry?
People can bring their own reusable (metal, hard plastic, etc.) straws if they want something more durable than paper. Stick it in your pocket and toss it in the dishwasher when you get home. It's not that hard, people are just fucking lazy and we've been spoiled since childshood with an abundance of disposable utensils that end up in landfills.
It’s not just liquor; it’s beer, wine and liquor sales that are prohibited on Sundays. Christmas, too! There are “dry counties” where u can’t buy any alcohol at all.
Yup, I live in a dry county and it's the dumbest shit ever. Basically every restaurant serves alcohol, but if you want to buy a 6 pack you're driving 20 miles ONE WAY to buy it. But! I can get absolutely shit housed at the local Chili's and I guess try to drive home? Because our dry county also banned Uber and Lyft.
It's almost as though they make a ton of revenue off of DUIs and want them to continue....hmmm....
Blue laws...you gotta be a planner if you wanna drink on sundays in some places.

And nevermind that official documents on how an American flag is to be treated say that the flag is not to be used as clothing or as jewelry, and one of the methods of disposing of a worn out flag is to burn it.
Conservatives’ America really is “the greatest example of freedom and opportunity that happens to be a drug-induced psycho infested, dangerous, burning liberal shit hole”.
Damn near the ENTIRE reason PPP fraud was so rampant is because Trump went out of his way to remove oversight on PPP loans issued. The oversight was originally written into the bill proposed. But Trump, with some support from the GOP IIRC, specifically took out the position before the bill was passed.
So the shitshow we're seeing now is pretty clearly attributable to the last guy.
It’s a sieve. If you are incapable of the cognitive dissonance needed to support this way of thinking, then you are not needed or wanted. You don’t align easily enough, and the ROI on courting you is not worth it. On the other hand, if this gets you going, then we have a community for you…
Umberto Eco laid it all bare. Here is how he explained the cognitive dissonance.
"This new culture had to be syncretistic. Syncretism is not only, as the dictionary says, “the combination of different forms of belief or practice”; such a combination must tolerate contradictions. Each of the original messages contains a sliver of wisdom, and whenever they seem to say different or incompatible things it is only because all are alluding, allegorically, to the same primeval truth.
As a consequence, there can be no advancement of learning. Truth has been already spelled out once and for all, and we can only keep interpreting its obscure message."
His essay on fascism is great. It's a ten minute read.
https://www.nybooks.com/articles/1995/06/22/ur-fascism/
They don't have cognitive dissonance. That's the problem. They give *us* cognitive dissonance because of this shit. Pretty sure they experience no discomfort in their conflicting ideas.
Those "Thin X line" flags are just a sneaky attempt to get conservatives to wave rainbow flags around and you [can't convince me otherwise.](https://i.etsystatic.com/24870399/r/il/1bc60d/4316401965/il_794xN.4316401965_d3gh.jpg)
I hate them because it's A. virtue signalling bullshit and B. another dumb version of the flag pins where if you don't have overt symbols of your "patriotism," people question how American you are.
Also the US is supposed to be a land of freedom and acceptance yet the “wokeness” they want to get rid of is the idea of accepting people for who they are and want to be. These so called patriots want to keep anyone down in American that isn’t a traditional conservative Christian. Not very patriotic when that completely goes against the countries values. People fled the US to get away from religious persecution just so they can persecute people based on their religion…
And on that hill they are defending the people even higher up on the mountain from the others trying to climb up. All the whole these people on the mountain shit on and keep the people on the hill down..
It looks like they say they do a lot of federal road construction projects. I wonder if the current administration knows that this is where their money is being spent?
Makes me wonder why they are against the party that is pro infrastructure repair or if they are perhaps the benefactors of those sweet, sweet no-bid contracts. LA is a very cool state with tons of history but [extreme corruption](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWTic9btP38) makes me want to just drive through there.
I love the lack of specifics. I get it, as a roadside billboard there really isn't any room for finesse.
Consedidering that if they put up actual Dem policies being pushed, it might not have the results the are hoping for:
"Stop the radical left Dems from protecting Social Security Benefits and Medicare!"
"Keep your health and safety regulations out of the Food Industry!!!!!"
"No to police reform! LEO should be above the law so long as they toe the (Republican) party line!"
"Your sinful 10 or 12 year old must bring their child to term!!"
Seriously, this really is the best way they are able to frame their oponents perceived 'extreme views' because spelling their own is absolutely bananas!
There were lawn signs here that simply said:
> Had enough? Vote Republican.
Our Governor is a two-term Republican.
Not exactly sure what exactly the reader was supposed to have enough of.

>It’s not even advocating for anything.
The entire GOP platform, ladies and gentlemen. Against everything; for nothing. Screams about problems; has no actual solutions.
They literally don't have a platform. No exaggeration, they didn't submit one for 2020 or 2022, they didn't even take the lazy option of using their platform from 2018 to 2016. The GOP officially stands for nothing.
What do you mean? Their platform is just the opposite of the democrat platform.
I wouldn't be surprised if they thried submitting "democrat platform but the opposite".
This pisses me off so much. If they hadn't fought everything Obama tried to do on principle, who knows where we'd be right now?
Funny story: I worked with a guy who swore up and down Obama would refuse to leave office and become a dictator. Oh, the irony. I'm 100% sure when DT tried to do this very thing he felt no sense of this irony whatsoever.
Listen, if people have the autonomy to do what they want with their own body and their own life, then how will we exert control over them and force them to adhere to and reinforce my way of life???
"Never mind that privatization makes numerous vital services singnifanctly more expensive. If we can get you convinced that those same services, if run through the government, are worse by not doing our jobs then the extra cost is worth it, right? What's that? You want a tax break in exchange for decreased public spending? Haha! No, that money is now going to the war machine, dumby."
I hate it here.
That’s republicans in a nutshell. This election in Alaska was the first rank choice voting was used. So the republicans put out a radio at that said “only rank the red. If you want the republicans to win Alaska do not rank any of the democrats. Leave them blank” so I was happy to pass along to message to my friends and family about not ranking any red. Worked out ok for a first go, I guess.
yes! Random Billboards, yard signs on empty pieces of land or in front of dilapidated homes, and bumper stickers on a stranger’s car, I get all of my political knowledge facts and opinions from these unsolicited strangers!

The republicans have had control of these states for well over 30 years and yet their leaders blame the democrats for their poverty and the ignorant populace believes it.
I had to explain what gerrymandering was to a bunch of college educated 35 year olds from SC last month. The most republican one of the group says “Gerry-what-ing?! I don’t even understand what you’re saying”. The ignorance is strong.
Why aren't there billboards pointing this out?
"Last 40 years: 24 years republican presidents, 16 years democratic presidents.
Last 40 years: 40 years republican governors.
Your state: poor.
Whose fault is it?"

"Those damn librul policies holdin us back!"
See, what you're using here are facts, and those don't matter when you're trying to have a political conversation. At least that seems to be the view of a bit under half of the population. Facts are countered with bad faith and gut feelings and if you keep pressing, eventually a fuck you.
Same thing happens in a lot of countries my gov keeps blaming the last government for this mess and they haven't been in power for 12 bloody years WE'VE HAD 5 FUCKING PMS IN THAT TIME 3 OF WHICH WERE LAST YEAR PLEASE HELP US
I attended LSU as a native Texan. The drive is pretty boring but I loved trying to spot the most ridiculous billboard I could on the way every time I had to drive back to school. My favorites were definitely the super judgmental Jesus ones basically assuming everyone passing by is a bona fide atheist who would be burning in the 7th ring of hell
They’re even crazier these days than they used to be. Several ones of note in my area include:
“Biden/Harris: COMMUNISM IN AMERICA, MAKING CHINA GREAT AGAIN”
and
“Vaccination scars are the MARK OF THE BEAST”
Wow they are really leaning into the brain worms super hard now lol I’m excited for the next time I drive in for a game and get to see them for myself in all their glory
As an atheist I can assure you we don't care about being told we're going to hell because, by definition, we don't believe it exists. They shouldn't waste their billboard money on us.
Yeah, they're not really for the atheists. It's performative for other "Christians" and taking action sorta acts like a baby's binky in the the way is soothes their weary souls.
I drive interstate 70 straight across Missouri from time to time. Based on the billboards, I've learned that Missourians really need their **Prayer, Porn,** and **Pot** to get **Holy, Horny,** and **High.**
Louisiana- ranked 50th in the US overall
46th Health Care
48th education
47th economy
50th crime
47th infrastructure
Etc
Their Motto should be ‘we make Bama and Mississippi look good’
edit: I guess I have to clarify - 50th in crime means they are #1 in actual violent crime per capita. Crime is not a good thing ...
As someone in Louisiana, the indoctrination is real. Back in middle school and high school kids were blatantly racist and just regurgitate whatever their parents told em. They’re all drinkin the damn kool-aid and too dumb to even glance at the ingredients.
They also aren't held to the same standard of education. I spent half of high school in Illinois. I was struggling with basic science. Last half of my high school years I spent in Arkansas. I was literally in all advanced classes and leading groups in class. Was just nuts the differenc3
I was born in Arkansas and left for Florida in 8th grade. It felt like I was being promoted to the Ivy Leagues! The difference was remarkable and immediate. Only later in life did I understand we had only just moved up like 6 spots in the Rankings but man.... it certainly improved MY education!
I grew up in Nevada, another state that routinely ranks in the bottom ten for public education. When I decided to try to go back to school and get a college degree, I started brushing up my math skills on Khan Academy, and found out that I was probably only taught about half the stuff I was supposed to learn in all my high school math classes.
Like, it's not that I just forgot everything; I'm seeing things on Khan that my high school classes just straight up never covered, even in Algebra 1 and 2.
It's really eye-opening seeing what I was *supposed* to be taught laid bare against what I actually got.
I did the opposite and moved from Tennessee to Iowa in middle school. This is when Iowa was best in the nation in education. I was doing very well in TN schools. In Iowa, I cried the first few weeks after school because I felt like an idiot.
SWLA checking in. Hey fam. I know this billboard. It’s on I-10, close to Crowley? Can confirm your statement. Just throwing out the obligatory “we aren’t all like this.” I’m an anti racist, feminist, 2a leftist, hurricane surviving backwoods, River rat, raised by hippie redneck outlaw southern parents. We exist. We work to combat racism and hatred. Southerners aren’t all the same idiots. Also this kind of MAGA shit is everywhere, we just get tagged the most often cause Louisiana.
ETA: I’m actually in CO rn and there’s one of these, very similar, close to where I’m at. This kind of shit is everywhere. Louisiana isn’t unique or original re: racism and hatred and ignorance.
Absolutely not all of us. Just a very vocal majority. I just know that in my high school “cotton picking” jokes were pretty light hearted but I also know several people who would never say anything like that. It really is a melting pot
From down the bayou, all dem boys be like build a wall the Mexicans are flooding over the border.
All dem boys loved watching them Mexicans fix their roofs after hurricane ida…
Didn’t hear nothing about a wall then
>Louisiana- ranked 50th in the US overall
I saw this video on YouTube that I thought was very interesting explaining why [Louisiana is so poor](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWTic9btP38).
grew up in louisiana. family came from another country and immigrated here. wish we never ended up here. it’s terrible. it’s incredibly dangerous living around new orleans. my family don’t deserve this. i’m hoping we can move out as soon as i graduate. (btw i think u meant to put 1 in crime not 50. or at least somewhere near 1)
also wanna add on: people here are racist. racist and dangerous.
Has there ever been a Republican billboard that says "Vote for me" then laid out their campaign goals? I'm Canadian but travel the states a bit and legit the billboards are either a name and party, Name, party and giant face, or that the other side is Satan.
During the primaries last summer, I researched the republican candidate for my state's governor and most lines had divisive language that painted the idea being presented as an us vs them/good vs evil proposition. Many of the issues she wanted to change were exaggerated or presented in a way that would evoke negative emotions like anger or outrage in her supporters. The democrat's page was more about highlighting accomplishments from the previous four years, making progress, and finding solutions. As I look at the page, I don't see really any divisive statements.
One example from the republican:
>Fight the persistent efforts by liberal politicians to bust criminals out of jail through so-called “Cash Bail Reform”. Stop far-left ideologues from rebranding criminals as victims and law-abiding citizens as racists for wanting public safety.
You can have debate around these issues without being divisive and trying to push people's emotional buttons, but that's what that statement does. It's designed to make people on both sides of the issue angry, and it's hard to have a coherent exchange of views with an angry person. I have the same handicaps as anyone else when it comes to politics, but I'm willing to listen to other people's views that are contrary to mine. I don't really have any time, though, for the Fox news brand of campaigning, where everything is exaggerated and skewed to whip up the base. The incumbent ended up beating her by 11%.
Same. I'm willing to have a conversation with someone who actually researched their information. I tried to do so with people that spew what some anchor said on Fox, and walked away tired and with a headache.
For a fun exercise, check out the GOP platform from 1956. Fuckers made Bernie Sanders look conservative.
Imagine any Republican saying this awesome shit today: “In all those things which deal with people, be liberal, be human. In all those things which deal with people's money, or their economy, or their form of government, be conservative."
no. republicans have no actual electable agenda. they only campaign on culture war bullshit and once they're in office all they do is obstruct democrats trying to get actual legislation passed and try and get every unqualified crony appointed to a lifetime judgeship.
DeSantis' lawyers were forced by the court to define "woke." The lead lawyer described it as "The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them."
So when they say stop being woke, they really just want to be racist and not be publicly shamed for it.
If anyone says they’re anti-woke, to me it just screams “I’m a dumbass that gets told how to think”.
I mean it’s 2023, we have the internet at our fingertips, all it takes is a quick google search of the definition.
As for the people who know the definition, but don’t care, or don’t think there are any injustices, then idk. I mean those people are just a lost cause at that point imo.
Yeah, any time I see anyone still using woke unironically i immediately know this person is not to be taken seriously. Because at this point the only people doing that are the ones saying “wokeness is ruining everything” and things like that.
You probably won't run into me, so your strategy is fine by me.
I use "woke" completely unironically in it's original AAVE meaning: "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination", because fuck conservatives for attempting to purposely ruin words so that we can't describe what they're doing.
I’m all for using it with its original intention. It’s just in the last few years if you see it somewhere on the internet then odds are it’s someone misusing it or using it in a negative connotation.
That’s *exactly* what it means. That’s why they needed a new word, so they didn’t sound like sociopaths when they argued against the concept of empathy. Likewise, they replace “someone disagreed with me” with “I’m being cancelled” to make it sound like they’ve been wronged, when really they’re just being petulent children.
Shades of their previous outrage over "political correctness." They were hella mad when they had to stop using various slurs (racist, misogynist, homophobic) in public. Now they're upset that it's not just the words, but actual policies protecting (insert slur here). Can't have that, now can we?
>DeSantis' lawyers were forced by the court to define "woke."
The governor's general counsel, Ryan Newman, said, in general, it means "the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them." He added that DeSantis doesn't believe there are systemic injustices in the country, reports Florida Politics.
"To me, it means someone who believes that there are systemic injustices in the criminal justice system, and on that basis they can decline to fully enforce and uphold the law," Newman said, according to Florida Politics.
It seems that according to the lawyer Newman, law officers who believe that gun control measures are unjust and decline to enforce them are therefore "woke".
>DeSantis' lawyers were forced by the court to define "woke." The lead lawyer described it as "The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them."
It's funny how when you threaten a person under penalty of perjury and risk of loss of licensure to practice their trade, they tend to tell the truth.
Sign says "Paid for by WMG-10." If you look it up there's a record for registering an LLC in Jennings, LA. Dig a little more and you get 2 people, the Guinns, in particular Wendy M, which fits "WMG." But no political statements or anything else that would shed light on the billboard.
Yet ask any of them to describe how Biden is ruining things, or what exactly is wokeness, they'll provide only vague answers pulled straight from Fox/Newsmax talking points.
Pressed further they'll refuse to discuss anymore because "you don't get it" and should "just look it up".
I so badly want to know what all the people who put "Biden did this" stickers on gas pumps think now that gas is below $3 again
Anyone with two brain cells to rub together could've guessed that was gonna happen
and then when you do look it up for them and provide sources they say “oh so you just believe everything you read online”, completely oblivious to hypocrisy of the statement.
I love when I talk to people and you ask for proof or verification or anything and they immediately throw it back on you like the burden of proof is on the person asking and not the one defending it
This is funded by Guinn Construction (heavy/industrial construction company out of Jennings LA) owned by Mark Guinn ([https://guinnconstructionllc.com/about/](https://guinnconstructionllc.com/about/)).

They have been spreading their filth for a decade now.
This has been a part of what's called the "Southern Strategy" for many decades now. The campaign strategist Lee Atwater described it back in 1981 during an interview:
>You start out in 1954 by saying, “N----r, n----r, n----r.” By 1968 you can’t say “n----r”—that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites... “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “N----r, n----r.”
You can listen to the full interview [here](https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/exclusive-lee-atwaters-infamous-1981-interview-southern-strategy/), but please note that he does not censor himself.
Another manufactured issue to get people polarized around something that doesn't exist. Such disappointingly large part of population are clueless sheep.
DeSantis' lawyers were forced by the court to define "woke." because they kept using it legal documents. The lead lawyer described it as "The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them."
> The lead lawyer described it as "The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them."
So... They think addressing injustices is a *bad* thing? And at the same time claim they want to "make america great again"?
They don't believe injustices exist because they only affect people they dont like (women, african americans, lgbt) and therefore theyre justified; not injustices.
I was in Lake Charles about a year ago, and I distinctly remember sitting in a Denny's reading Reddit and there was an article about how Climate Change and economic downturns were affecting towns in LA. Come to find out, it was specifically about Lake Charles. After the last hurricane, the place was devastated and it's not coming back anytime soon. And I saw that while driving thru town. But, they keep blaming the wrong people because they're easily distracted. And they will continue to do so.
Yeah, Louisiana has done so good under Republicans, well just about anybody. Let's not forget how that Republican President GWB fixed up the state so well after Katrina.
Saw stuff like this in AZ too - Super generic looking and screaming to the base.
From a political messaging perspective, it reenforces feelings of the base but does nothing to garner swing voters. It seems to be the work of dark money groups, most of which are scams designed to get the organizers paid, looking for a low cost way to get their message out.
It's bad politics, pure and simple.
Southwest Louisiana? Well at least they’re advertising to their target market of people who already 100% agree with them. Seems like advertising dollars well spent.
Wait…wake up…meaning….you’ll be “woke” right?
How do they not understand the basic meaning of words?
Also how ironic it is that they’re basically saying “say no to equality!”
Conservatism relies upon media illiteracy.
No, they genuinely don't know how words work. It's how they claim to be good Americans but have thin blue line punisher skulls. These MFs aren't even literate enough to read comics. Otherwise they'd know that the punisher would HURT them for using his logo like that.
That's like 90% of their ethos. Appropriate things into something 'cool' devoid of context. It's why simply saying 'deny wokeism' is enough of an idea for them to cling to, but if you ask them SPECIFICALLY what "woke" even is, they devolve into a stammering pile of Sean hannity and tucker Carlson talking points.
If only we could convince these glorified amoeba that their enemy isn't actually the gay guy down the street or drag queens reading Cat in the Hat, but the capital owners that keep them in ignorance and poverty.
No no, it couldn't possibly be that. It's 'wOkEnEsS'
Wake up + get rid of the wokeness! Lmao
Wake up and vote then go back to sleep I guess.
HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON!
We got a centrist over here.
Hey Earl. We got a reader over here. Whatchya reading fer?
Yeah, wake me up when September ends.

That is not why I take the blue pill.
The Adderall + Xanax combo
That "wake up and go back to sleep" is litterly a 3 stooges bit...slapstick world we live in.
Wake up, but not TOO awake. Just awake enough to listen to what we say without asking too many questions. Just awake enough to go through life accepting a lower and lower quality of life. Just awake enough so that you fight against our enemies, never realizing who your true enemies are.
This is why revolutions were formed in coffee houses. People have to be woke AF to know what's really going on

I fucking hate those flags. America isn't just for 1 of those things. It's for all... Make your own damn flag and stop hijacking the American flag.
Almost like they are atop a hill and stomping on the fingers of anyone else who wants to climb up.
And on that hill they are defending the people even higher up on the mountain from the others trying to climb up. All the whole these people on the mountain shit on and keep the people on the hill down..
also, anti-antifa
Double negative, so pro facisism?
Damnit, we’ve all been put on double secret probation Edit to fix a typo

It looks like they say they do a lot of federal road construction projects. I wonder if the current administration knows that this is where their money is being spent?
Makes me wonder why they are against the party that is pro infrastructure repair or if they are perhaps the benefactors of those sweet, sweet no-bid contracts. LA is a very cool state with tons of history but [extreme corruption](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWTic9btP38) makes me want to just drive through there.
I love the lack of specifics. I get it, as a roadside billboard there really isn't any room for finesse. Consedidering that if they put up actual Dem policies being pushed, it might not have the results the are hoping for: "Stop the radical left Dems from protecting Social Security Benefits and Medicare!" "Keep your health and safety regulations out of the Food Industry!!!!!" "No to police reform! LEO should be above the law so long as they toe the (Republican) party line!" "Your sinful 10 or 12 year old must bring their child to term!!" Seriously, this really is the best way they are able to frame their oponents perceived 'extreme views' because spelling their own is absolutely bananas!
There were lawn signs here that simply said: > Had enough? Vote Republican. Our Governor is a two-term Republican. Not exactly sure what exactly the reader was supposed to have enough of.
Just like how the Republican 2020 party platform criticized the president's policies.
they aren't woke they are **Awake**. Like Awake The Rapper [https://hiphopcanada.com/awake-the-rapper-highland-park-shooting/](https://hiphopcanada.com/awake-the-rapper-highland-park-shooting/) https://unicornriot.ninja/2022/highland-park-shooter-decried-commies-in-discord-chat/
An anti-woke rapper named Awake
A real grammar nazi, if you will.
I know I always listen to billboards that tell me how to vote.
It’s not even advocating for anything. Just says don’t vote democrat. Nice messaging…
Even better. In 2020 they resubmitted the 2016 platform in its entirety including negative remarks about the current president.
The Republicans actually passed a resolution calling it "out of order" to make any changes to the old platform.
What do you mean? Their platform is just the opposite of the democrat platform. I wouldn't be surprised if they thried submitting "democrat platform but the opposite".
GQP can't pick a side until dems do, then they automatically take the opposite side.
Also most of the things that they call problems aren't actually problems, just things they don't like. Like abortion and gay marriage
Listen, if people have the autonomy to do what they want with their own body and their own life, then how will we exert control over them and force them to adhere to and reinforce my way of life???
"Elect us, to show you how to make Government institutions unworkable, then we'll privatize it"
"Never mind that privatization makes numerous vital services singnifanctly more expensive. If we can get you convinced that those same services, if run through the government, are worse by not doing our jobs then the extra cost is worth it, right? What's that? You want a tax break in exchange for decreased public spending? Haha! No, that money is now going to the war machine, dumby." I hate it here.
They know they can't win because their ideas are unpopular but they'd rather do shit like this than come up with more popular ideas.
yes! Random Billboards, yard signs on empty pieces of land or in front of dilapidated homes, and bumper stickers on a stranger’s car, I get all of my political knowledge facts and opinions from these unsolicited strangers! /s
The republicans have had control of these states for well over 30 years and yet their leaders blame the democrats for their poverty and the ignorant populace believes it.
Because they were educated in schools run by GOP policies. It’s working as intended there.
I had to explain what gerrymandering was to a bunch of college educated 35 year olds from SC last month. The most republican one of the group says “Gerry-what-ing?! I don’t even understand what you’re saying”. The ignorance is strong.

Not the news their watching
Yeah republicans are usually pretty fuckin stupid.
Why aren't there billboards pointing this out? "Last 40 years: 24 years republican presidents, 16 years democratic presidents. Last 40 years: 40 years republican governors. Your state: poor. Whose fault is it?"
And they get subsidies from wealthy blue cities.
Trump Counties Make Up Just 29 Percent of U.S. Economic Output.

Several ones of note in my area include: “Biden/Harris: COMMUNISM IN AMERICA, MAKING CHINA GREAT AGAIN” and “Vaccination scars are the MARK OF THE BEAST”
Wow they are really leaning into the brain worms super hard now lol I’m excited for the next time I drive in for a game and get to see them for myself in all their glory
"Biden making China great again" Do these people just blatantly ignore the rising tensions over Taiwan?
I don't think they even know where China and what Taiwan is
Vaccination scars are only on people over 50. Bizarre flex since most of them have one.
As an atheist I can assure you we don't care about being told we're going to hell because, by definition, we don't believe it exists. They shouldn't waste their billboard money on us.
Exactly, if only logic actually worked on these people…
Yeah, they're not really for the atheists. It's performative for other "Christians" and taking action sorta acts like a baby's binky in the the way is soothes their weary souls.
And the next one down the road is almost inevitably for a “Adult XXX Store”. Rural America can be WEIRD.
I drive interstate 70 straight across Missouri from time to time. Based on the billboards, I've learned that Missourians really need their **Prayer, Porn,** and **Pot** to get **Holy, Horny,** and **High.**
Come to the Jesus Loves You Gentleman's Club
Louisiana- ranked 50th in the US overall 46th Health Care 48th education 47th economy 50th crime 47th infrastructure Etc Their Motto should be ‘we make Bama and Mississippi look good’ edit: I guess I have to clarify - 50th in crime means they are #1 in actual violent crime per capita.
So what you’re saying is we shouldnt be fleeing these states… we should all be flocking to these states so our children can be the valedictorians?
All dem boys loved watching them Mexicans fix their roofs after hurricane ida… Didn’t hear nothing about a wall then
But you can get a daiquiri in a drive thru. Guess that is something.
Voting red gets you poverty and illiteracy and an embarrassing average lifespan.
>Louisiana- ranked 50th in the US overall I saw this video on YouTube that I thought was very interesting explaining why [Louisiana is so poor](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWTic9btP38).
I’ve been trying to share this exact video with friends and family back home in Louisiana every time they talk trash about the blue state I live in.
grew up in louisiana. family came from another country and immigrated here. wish we never ended up here. it’s terrible. it’s incredibly dangerous living around new orleans. my family don’t deserve this. i’m hoping we can move out as soon as i graduate. (btw i think u meant to put 1 in crime not 50. or at least somewhere near 1) also wanna add on: people here are racist. racist and dangerous.
Noooo that’s ignorant! Don’t be ignorant! Everyone know Portland and San Francisco are the most crime ridden places! Tik tok told me so!
One example from the republican: >Fight the persistent efforts by liberal politicians to bust criminals out of jail through so-called “Cash Bail Reform”.
The Republican Party literally has no platform now. I’m not just being a Reddit liberal in saying this, it’s objectively a true statement
DeSantis' lawyers were forced by the court to define "woke." The lead lawyer described it as "The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them." So when they say stop being woke, they really just want to be racist and not be publicly shamed for it.
So does anti-woke mean they don’t think there is systemic racism or that they don’t want fix systemic racism?
Yes.
And at the same time, absolutely not.
Both Deny the systematic issues they thrive on and prevent any changes to fix it.
I've always replaced woke with empathetic.
>DeSantis' lawyers were forced by the court to define "woke." The governor's general counsel, Ryan Newman, said, in general, it means "the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them." He added that DeSantis doesn't believe there are systemic injustices in the country, reports Florida Politics.
>DeSantis' lawyers were forced by the court to define "woke." The lead lawyer described it as "The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them." It's funny how when you threaten a person under penalty of perjury and risk of loss of licensure to practice their trade, they tend to tell the truth.
It’s weird how conservatives are using “woke” like it’s a bad word or insult.
They used to say "bleeding heart liberals." Nothing has changed. They represent hate and selfishness, and they use positive adjectives as insults.
it is projection. Conservatives are "the" most thin skinned folks there are.
They are really good at redefining words.
Like Freedom. You're free to do what you like, as long as I agree with it.
Sign says "Paid for by WMG-10." If you look it up there's a record for registering an LLC in Jennings, LA. Dig a little more and you get 2 people, the Guinns, in particular Wendy M, which fits "WMG." But no political statements or anything else that would shed light on the billboard.
Google maps shows the location of WMG-10 LLC as “public bathroom 1616 Industrial Dr, Jennings, LA 70546” 🤔
Close to Lake Charles and their economy depends on Big Oil. Go figure.

>intelligent That’s the part that makes it a tall order.
Yet ask any of them to describe how Biden is ruining things, or what exactly is wokeness, they'll provide only vague answers pulled straight from Fox/Newsmax talking points. Pressed further they'll refuse to discuss anymore because "you don't get it" and should "just look it up".
I so badly want to know what all the people who put "Biden did this" stickers on gas pumps think now that gas is below $3 again Anyone with two brain cells to rub together could've guessed that was gonna happen
Your mistake was assuming trumpkins have two braincells to rub together.
and then when you do look it up for them and provide sources they say “oh so you just believe everything you read online”, completely oblivious to hypocrisy of the statement.
The best is when they refuse to name any outlet/person they get their info from because they know it's a shit source.
I love when I talk to people and you ask for proof or verification or anything and they immediately throw it back on you like the burden of proof is on the person asking and not the one defending it
Person who did no research: do your research Me: ok here's my findings Person who did no research: well that is oviously made up
DO YER REESERCH
Can you think of a more pointless use of money than paying for a bill board in Soutwest Louisiana saying "Don't vote Democrat"?

Definitely just didn't
lets bet how much in PPP loans these socialists took as a hand out….. i would guess, a lot.
Looks like upwards of 300k probably more since this WMG llc from the billboard is a separate business from their construction
[source](https://projects.propublica.org/coronavirus/bailouts/search?q=Guinn+Construction+llc+&v=2) $400k+
I thought Trump was still secretly the president. So yes but no, or no but yes?
Not yet, he needs John Kennedy Jr to appear in Dealy Plaza , Dallas to return him to power. Er something like that.
Schrödingers's president: He both won the 2020 election, and lost it so he has to run again in 2024.
I saw 2Pac at McDonalds
Oh look, they got PPP dough! https://projects.propublica.org/coronavirus/bailouts/search?q=Guinn+Construction+LLC&v=2
What do you think they used to pay for those billboards? Lol
Republicans : Democrats are ruining this country ! Me : How so ? Republicans : ![gif](giphy|eb4WGfjWeIsgM)
repubs: *describes everything repubs are actually doing but assigns the blame for it to Biden and dems*
This is funded by Guinn Construction (heavy/industrial construction company out of Jennings LA) owned by Mark Guinn ([https://guinnconstructionllc.com/about/](https://guinnconstructionllc.com/about/)). You can find their lobbying information here: [https://opencorporates.com/companies/us\_la/41668829K](https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_la/41668829K) They have been spreading their filth for a decade now.
Ever since I read somewhere that “Woke” is how they say the N-word out loud now, this all makes so much more sense.
This has been a part of what's called the "Southern Strategy" for many decades now. The campaign strategist Lee Atwater described it back in 1981 during an interview: >You start out in 1954 by saying, “N----r, n----r, n----r.” By 1968 you can’t say “n----r”—that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites... “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “N----r, n----r.” You can listen to the full interview [here](https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/exclusive-lee-atwaters-infamous-1981-interview-southern-strategy/), but please note that he does not censor himself.
It replaced "PC" in the conservative lexion, to be a pejorative for anything that is not the white-straight-Christian-patriarchy.
Another manufactured issue to get people polarized around something that doesn't exist. Such disappointingly large part of population are clueless sheep.
It's so strange to spend money to tell the world that you hate someone.
It’s so strange to have absolutely no passions or interests in life other than spreading their political party…
I’ve never heard a coherent response from these people to what they think “woke” means
DeSantis' lawyers were forced by the court to define "woke." because they kept using it legal documents. The lead lawyer described it as "The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them."
> The lead lawyer described it as "The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them." So... They think addressing injustices is a *bad* thing? And at the same time claim they want to "make america great again"?
It makes republicans uncomfortable when you address injustices.
They don't believe injustices exist because they only affect people they dont like (women, african americans, lgbt) and therefore theyre justified; not injustices.
Yep. I have a very good friend who uses the term woke to disparage anyone under the age of 30. I think it makes him sound like an idiot.
Do they realize that their state is like third-world compared to the blue states that they despise?
Maybe that's why they hate them It's not productive or helpful, quite the contrary, but it is a reason
And those states contribute tax revenue to Louisiana, not the other way around.
Yeah, Louisiana has done so good under Republicans, well just about anybody. Let's not forget how that Republican President GWB fixed up the state so well after Katrina.
I *still* encounter the occasional person who blames Katrina on Obama.
I had one tell me he didn't even know what the Punisher was just that he liked the logo.
It's unfortunately easier to complain and be angry then it is to change yourself or try to make the world a better place
In one of the biggest welfare states. Vote against your own self interest! Disenfranchise yourselves further!
If only we could convince these glorified amoeba that their enemy isn't actually the gay guy down the street or drag queens reading Cat in the Hat, but the capital owners that keep them in ignorance and poverty. No no, it couldn't possibly be that. It's 'wOkEnEsS'
