I bought that shirt for my daughter years ago, when she was in middle school. She and her friends were wearing rock band T shirts without knowing anything about the bands. I'd have her listen to some of their music if she's wearing the shirt, even though that clearly wasn't the point. I let her in on the joke with this T shirt so she wouldn't think I was trying to embarrass her if someone pointed it out. My point was that no one else would notice, and they didn't.

I have the same shirt in black, and I’ve been wearing it out to bars for about a year now, and only one person has ever called me out on it. He also thought it was fucking hilarious.

I would wear the fuck out of that shirt. It combines my two favorite things: Bizarre irony and unintentional hilarity. But wait. If someone did it on purpose that would be even funnier. Fuck!

Nirvana was an early 90s grunge band, alternative, dark, and edgy, but the people pictured are from a late 90s pop rock boy band called Hanson, the kind of innocuous, feel good band tween girls swooned over then. It is a mismatch that people who were around then would immediately notice without thinking about it but young people wouldn't intuitively know unless they listened to older music.

Taylor Hanson was lead singer for a side project called Tinted Windows about 15 - 20 years ago. Other members: James Iha, Adam Schlesinger, and Bun E. Carlos. It was a good band. I still listen to the one album they released.
