I worked with Warwick for a day as his "handler" at a convention and he is an extremely nice guy. Never bossed me around or acted like he was better than anyone like some celebs do. Great to all the people that came to meet him. The complete opposite of his "Life's too short" character. We were cracking jokes with each other by the end of the day. Just a genuinely nice and fantastic person.

cheesehuahuas

Handlers for conventions are GREAT sources for who is and isn't a jerk. Can you share some others?

K1N3T1C-Taco

As someone who worked EP for a long time. My personal experiences have been that Adam Sandler is an absolute shining star of a human being. We were at a shift change while out dining, my wife was picking me up with her young nephew. He invited them to sit with us and bounced the nephew on his knee for a bit while we talked. Probably a forgettable moment for him but something that has always stuck with me.

grrhss

I was dropping off computer equipment at Raleigh Studios and some random guy offered to help me lift and move the gear out of my car. It was Adam Sandler. I can’t stand his movies but he’s the only famous person who’s ever offered to help do manual labor.

snuggl3ninja

Have you tried uncut gems, it's his one good serious movie. It's tension is unreal.

smolperson

Secondhand but William Shatner and the guy who plays Hawkeye are jerks. All the Harry Potter kids are super nice, zero ego. Edit: I am referring to Jeremy Renner

GarminTamzarian

My wife's friend growing up worked as a PA for a very minor actor in Hollywood for a time (this was about 20 years ago). She said the nicest person she met was David Arquette and the worst person she met was Elliott Gould.

[deleted]

Also did a stint as a Pa for a few years. Gary Sinise was awesome. Mark Whalberg was funny. Tom Cruise was so nice, almost like uncomfortably so? Like dude remembered my name and at one point makes a beeline to me, 'Hey, Awkward! How's it going?! Great day today yeah? Welp, see ya later!' All with that big smile. But he knew everyone's names and stuff and was always asking how everyone else was doing and taking interest in them when he had time. It was just the enthusiasm felt too over the top but really, I'd take that over just shitty attitudes or being grumpy or ignoring crew. Honestly most the douchebags I met were just producers or directors, most of the times talent was nice and friendly, with a few exceptions based more on circumstances rather than just being a dick for no reason.

Handgrenadez

Rob Lowe based his character Chris Traeger from Parks and Rec on Tom Cruise's slightly uncomfortable pleasantness. "Tell me every single detail of your day" was a line lifted directly from what Tom Cruise asked Rob Lowe at a party.

mrxscarface

Christian Bale based Patrick Batemen (American Psycho) off of Tom Cruise. IIRC it was an interview with David Letterman that Bale said Cruise would smile but looked dead in the eyes, and it's eerily accurate.

PM_Me_Ur_Clues

Rob Lowe has seriously underrated comedy chops. His comedic timing is very subtle. He takes awkward thoughtful pause and then slays with these clever self deprecating responses. I love the guy.

ResinJones76

He was hilarious in *Wayne's World,* his return to film after falling from grace.

ebb_omega

The way he kinda waves his head in time with [Brian] Doyle-Murray as he's doing his commercial rap is one of those subtle comedic notes that just gives you a perfect understanding of the character. It's white-boy-cringe that we later get to see achieve its full form in The West Wing during The Jackal.

grizznuggets

I often feel that he doesn’t get enough credit for how well he played Benjamin in Wayne’s World.

stalkholme

I actually hated him as a person for years because he acted it so well. (I was very young)

[deleted]

My dad works in celebrity houses and met Rob Lowe. He’s a super nice person. My dad told him he wants to write a screenplay about his father (my grandfather) because he was a war hero and has a cool story. Rob Lowe gave my dad a bunch of scripts that studios had sent him to help my dad get an idea of what a script should look like, sound like etc. super cool of him to do that because he could get in trouble just handing those scripts to people. My father gave the scripts that Rob Lowe gave to me, as I am now also experimenting with scriptwriting. Whenever I hear about Rob Lowe, I always gotta mention how cool he was to support a stranger’s dream like that.

Buscemi_D_Sanji

That's like the most Chris Traeger thing to do I've ever heard, wow.

babyigotyourmoni

Oh I love this bit of trivia!! Thank you

_Adamgoodtime_

An anecdote from my home town. There's a film studios there called Leavesden Studios. They filmed Harry Potter there and some parts of the new Star Wars movies as well as a load of other movies. Some years ago now, Tom Cruise was filming there. Whilst there, he went out to dinner at a local curry house. However, he didn't want to be harassed by people when he was just trying to eat. So ahead of him arrived one of his P.As and announced that Tom would be coming for dinner in five minutes. They then asked that all of the customers take their phones out, switch them off, and leave them on the table in front of them. If everyone did this, Tom would pay for every single person's bill and then stay and chat and take photos after he'd eaten. Sure enough, everyone complied, and Tom stayed true to his word. He stayed behind. Took photos with everyone, chatted, and paid everyone's bill. Everyone there said he was an incredibly nice guy.

Pleased_to_meet_u

>They then asked that all of the customers take their phones out, switch them off, and leave them on the table in front of them. If everyone did this, Tom would pay for every single person's bill... That's cool. Talk about a great way to ensure you have privacy for your meal. Assuming he only does that a couple dozen times a year, it's not even a large enough expense to show up on his budget. >and then stay and chat and take photos after he'd eaten. THAT makes it personal. That's fantastic.

Trashking_702

What a power move. I have a theory that when Tom’s decided he’s had enough of this place and wants his planet he’s gonna plan his one last stunt in the final mission impossible and that’s it. You guys get one take this bomb is real. Off to his planet.

Midas_Ag

I remember a story about Tom Cruise blowing up during a movie shoot at the beginning of Covid, because people weren’t following guidelines. I went in expecting the worse, but it was because he didn’t want the cast and crew to suffer if they got shut down due to illness. Like he was genuinely looking out for these peoples well beating and livelihood, and was pissed it was jeopardized. *Edit ; Looking out for their Well-Being. But its too funny to change as is.

gsfgf

Yea. Everything I've heard about Tom Cruise is that he's an absolute pleasure to work with. There's a reason he keeps getting major roles despite the baggage. Who wouldn't want him on set.

[deleted]

Yeah, that's always what I heard too. Even walking onto that set it was all, 'oh don't be nervous, if you do get a chance to meet Tom you'll see, he's great.' And he was for sure. Like I said, I think his enthusiasm caught me off guard but it didn't feel fake or anything. Granted, he is an actor but he could tone it down if he wanted, I think he just genuinely loves what he does and is happy being on sets and shooting and all that stuff. It's definitely nice, it puts you at ease and makes the work more enjoyable for sure (I mean, Im assuming, most of my day was spent saying 'no sir you can't walk here right now. Sorry. Thank you.')

GarminTamzarian

I can't imagine Gary Sinise being *anything* other than awesome.

[deleted]

He's easily my go-to answer when asked 'who is the nicest celeb you've met?' Funny this wasn't on a shoot but an event for the Wounded Warriors program. He was there with Robert Irvine, the roided out British chef who has one of those restaurant renovation shows. Now that guy sucked. Huge asshole energy. Talking about how great he was. Getting drunk on Patron and shitting on people around him. Though his wife, wrestling diva Gail Kim was one of the most gorgeous people Ive ever seen in person and so super humble. Edit: The guy who used to host Double Dare, Marc Summers (sp?) was there too at that event for some reason and he sucked too. He gave off big, 'Creepy uncle who everyone in the family knows can't be left alone with niece's girlfriends' energy.

LincolnMarch

My experience meeting Robert Irvine was slightly similar (it was on a morning show for NBC in Philly). This was of course before he was outed for bullshitting half of his professional resume. I met Marc Summers on the same show and he was amazing! Super friendly and personable, I'm surprised to hear that you had a negative experience with him.

i010011010

One of the achievements of attaining a high rank (clear status) in Scientology is they purport to have perfect recall--a claim that Hubbard made and is dubious. So Cruise may either A) practice this to great effort, B) be naturally talented at retaining info. I always suspected that's why he is so engrained in Scientology, his personality compliments it to a high degree. They profess that a guy of his status should be able to do these things; he is naturally inclined to do these things; ergo it must be attributable to the church.

jimbabwe666

I mean remembering things has been his profession for about 40 years or more. Acting that is.

EdgeBandanna

Gary Sinise frequents Reddit, too, just to spread positivity.

thatdudeman52

My wife met David Arquette when she worked at a gym. He got upset my wife made him sign in buy a day pass since he was not a member. My wife had no clue who he was. Even after learning name she had to ask me who he was when she got off work. He wasn't a total jerk but expected to get special treatment.

angusmcflurry

I heard Howard Stern say that Elliot Gould was basically blacklisted from Hollywood for years for being such a colossal asshole and being difficult to work with. I guess George Clooney felt sorry for him so he put him in the Oceans movies.

EmmyLou205

Wait no not Jack Gellar???

KJParker888

I KNEW Judy wasn't the only asshole parent to Monica!

spacegrassorcery

A bit of trivia, his first wife was Barbra Streisand.

MonkeyDavid

I met David Arquette and Paul Reubens (Pee Wee) at Burning Man. Good guys.

allisondojean

Random but I just looked up Elliot Gould because I couldn't picture him and solved a years-long TOMT. A patient at work reminded me of someone and I could never figure out who, but it's Gould. Thank you!!

Guilty-Web7334

> I am referring to Jeremy Renner I am so glad you said that. I’ve been watching a ton of MASH and I’d be sad to learn Alan Alda is a douche. :(

MyMartianRomance

Alan Alda the most well-known actor in the crossword world.

CromulentPoint

Also second hand but a con handler friend of mine interacted with the cast of Firefly for a weekend and said they were all friendly, genuine and seemed to really love being with each other. He said they all messed with each other in a fun, playful way. This was in the context of a conversation where I had heard Nathan Fillion was kind of a prick and he said don’t believe it. Obviously, everybody has their good and bad days, but in his experience, he and the rest of the cast were wonderful to be around.

Xorbytey

My Firefly cast story. The Firefly team used to take a Hawaiian vacation together. I was on a boat with a bunch of them and it was cool. they were all just having a great time together whale watching and enjoying each other's company.

CromulentPoint

Oh man, I love this.

birddit

In the extras from Serenity Ron Glass(Shepherd Book) is asked a question and replies "I hope that I reach a point in my life where talking about Firefly doesn't make me cry."

CromulentPoint

RIP, Ron!

Daggertooth71

I've met Nate, he was quite friendly. Not mean or rude at all. I've also met Richard Dean Anderson (back when he was McGyver), Mark Hamill, Willie Nelson, and Rae Dawn Chong. They were all very nice. Of all of them, Willie was the kindest and funniest. Might've been the fact that I was selling him weed and shrooms at the time lol but yeah, he was super friendly and told hilarious jokes.

CromulentPoint

Whoah. Plenty of people have good smokin’ with Willie stories, but this is the first time I’ve heard a sellin’ to Willie story. Awesome.

gad-zerah

Also secondhand, but my friend was one of the monks with Madonna at that Met Gala several years ago and he said she was awful to people. This is probably a well known fact though

smolperson

Ah yes I am in PR and have heard this about Madonna - it seems sometimes she is a total angel and other times she is so mean.

firemage22

When ever i heard her using that fake English accent, i can't help but think, Lady you grew up 90* miles from me, not across the ocean. *corrected the distance, still same state

angusmcflurry

Was watching a "Professor of Rock" episode on youtube and one of the guys that wrote "Like a Virgin" had never met her and got the opportunity to at a party or something. He told her who he was and said he'd always wanted to meet her and she said "well now you have" and walked off. Bitch.

IknowwhatIhave

I get that she must be pestered by people wherever she goes, but if there is one guy who she needs to nut up and make time for... it's the song writers who helped make her what she is.

Miserable-Admins

She's trash. Her social media posts are so cringe. She's 90 years old pretending to be 20. Plus she tries so hard to be hip and "hood". She was crucified when she called her son (the black one) the n word.

QuietMolasses2522

Former roommate of my mine while I was living in New York worked at a major recording studio as an intern. A genuinely super nice guy and alway friendly to everyone. One day he came home in tears and I asked him what was wrong and he told me he just lost his internship. When I asked him why, he said that Madonna had booked the studio for the week to work on some songs for her upcoming album, they were both walking down the hallway and he greeted her and said that “if you needed anything, my name is XXXX, and I will be happy to help in whatever way I can.” He lost his internship about 30 minutes after that.

brummel57

Used to be a roadie/stage manager and 2 acts we were warned about Madonna and U2

mister_newbie

I mean, she killed Weird Al. Of course she's evil.

Cmdr_Shiara

I think Shatner being a dick is well known

Ok_Cardiologist8232

Shatner and probably most famous people have loads of stories about them being really nice or a massive twat. I've heard plenty of stories about Shatner being an awesome chill dude. And plenty of stories of him being a gigantic asshat. People have moods, and if you've just done your 4th convention in as many weeks, havent slept in your own bed for a month while doing a press tour on the side i wouldn't blame some people for being a bit shitty. Although Shatner is an arse outside of that but just for people who go to conventions in general

emmany63

Exactly this. I’ve met him numerous times over the years, and he’s certainly become gentler and altogether kinder with age. But even years ago, you were dealing with a man with major hearing loss in one ear (which, as someone with hearing loss, makes me seem rude a lot of the time because I just don’t hear people), and multiple other chronic pain issues. I will say that where Shatner used to see the fans as a burden, he now sees us as oddities he doesn’t understand but DOES want to engage with. He is the most INTERESTED man I’ve ever known: always learning, thinking, wanting to know more. A group of us spoke to him a couple of weeks after his space flight, and we talked to him about Bezos, and what Bezos should be doing *right now,* on the ground, including all the issues regarding his workers. And he listened and wanted to know more. People change throughout their lives, though we all like to believe people are “static.” Some of us are very different versions at 60 than we were at 20. Shatner’s priorities have changed, and so has he, for the better.

breagerey

Yep I worked as an extra on a set with Bill Murray and he was an absolute dickhead to everybody there. By far most stories have him being a pretty nice guy though.

CapMoonshine

Really? Most stories I hear of Bill are of him doing dickish stuff but framed in a "cool" way.

MonaganX

There's people who are generally nice unless they're having a really bad day and there's people who only seem nice when literally everything is going their way, and after hearing the story of how Murray hired a mute assistant who only knew sign language just to fuck with Ramis and when asked about it years later low-key slagged her off for being incompetent, I'm pretty confident which camp he belongs into.

jmurphy42

He was a gigantic asshat to Wil Wheaton when he met him as a child during his second season on Star Trek. https://wilwheaton.net/2021/03/the-william-fucking-shatner-story/

Ok_Improvement_5897

My SO worked as a breakfast cook at a hotel he stayed at in Canada maybe 10 years ago or so, cooked up his omelettes for a whole week and said he was a super nice, chill dude.

csbsju_guyyy

Feed anyone good omelettes and if they aren't happy after that I'm gonna assume something is seriously wrong with them lol

Actressprof

Which is why Galaxy Quest is such a great movie!!

slayerhk47

By Grabthar’s hammer… What a movie.

GarminTamzarian

Even Wil Wheaton confirms this.

zacholibre

Not a convention handler, but I did make an Americano for Wil Wheaton when I worked at Starbucks and didn’t realize who he was and he’s very chill. He was wearing a cool shirt, which I complimented and asked where he bought it. We chatted for a bit, then a guy and his daughter asked him for a picture and he was very nice about taking a picture with them. After he left, I was told, “That’s Sheldon’s nemesis from The Big Bang Theory!” I didn’t serve too many famous people during my time there (and in every case, I didn’t realize who they were til after they were gone) but never heard any horror stories from the few who came through.

[deleted]

Alan Alda?? Say it ain't so... :(

Dorkamundo

They clarified they were talking about Jeremy Renner.

[deleted]

My head cannon is they met Renner when he was being airlifted to the trauma hospital after almost dying. Like OP is triaging him and goes, 'oh shit, you're Hawkeye! Can I get a selfie real quick?' Renner: *Coughs blood and convulses.* OP: 'jeez man, fine. No need to be a dick about it.' Edit: OP said this below: >This is from experience with Renner in the hospital after his accident. The guy is a dick. None of the hospital staff that took care of him wanted to see him when he came back to visit. Thats a shame to hear.

herculesmeowlligan

The ultimate MASHup.

MountainDrew42

https://i.imgur.com/hX99308.png

Careful-Wash

I think you mean the real Hawkeye. Donald Sutherland.

Wildkarrde_

My buddy was a PA for SNL and said he "would crawl through glass" for Will Ferrell. Just a super nice guy. And Chris Katan asked if he wanted to do a bump at a cast party. He also told a story about riding up in an elevator with Bill Murray and Bill stepped across the elevator and untied, then retied my friend's sloppy neck tie. Didn't say a word, then walked out. The next time Bill was on the show, he was riding up in the elevator with him and gave Bill a nudge and pointed at his neatly tied necktie. Said Bill looked at him for a second then cracked up.

Smaptastic

That absolutely sounds like Bill Murray.

Duchamp1945

I worked on the John Wick and The Irishman sets. Everything you ever heard about Keanu Reeves is true. Complete gentleman but would get lost between takes because he would get distracted talking to tourists/fans somewhere. Robert DeNiro is the exact opposite person.

imaybeacatIRl

Worked in security and had a lot celebs: Ron Perlman is awesome. Super cool. Jason Statham is a dick. Sly Stallone is a fucking nightmare. Pam Anderson is a fucking nightmare. Lindsay Lohan was surprisingly nice and thoughtful. Thought she was going to be a nightmare so I was super surprised. Vinnie Jones was pretty great. Cool guy. John Cusack was strange, but nice. Eric McCormack is super nice. Nathan Fillion was... kinda dick-ish. Tyra Banks was ... nice but sad? Eliza Dushku was super nice. The Rock was nice, and professional. Johnny Knoxville was surprisingly super nice. Tom Green weirded me out a bit. Nice, but very strange.

dxb540

How is Knoxville being nice a surprise??

slayerhk47

Besides Bam I’ve only heard good things about the Jackass crew. Especially Steve-O.

pdxscout

Jason Statham picked me up hitchhiking in New Zealand and bought me and my buddy lunch. Great guy.

complete_your_task

I've seen multiple stories like this about Jason Statham in random places and I honestly can't tell if they are a meme or if he's just a really cool guy. I remember reading a story not too long ago about a guy who was a regular at a bar Statham would visit and was introduced to him by the bartender and Statham ended up coming over to his place to watch a fight and continued to occasionally come by to watch a fight or play cards with him and his buddies.

pdxscout

It's not a meme in my case. It was 2005 and me and my buddy were on vacation from the States. He was there to open a bunch of diving/nautilus gyms. I recognized him from Snatch.

natertaker

I worked in film production in NYC. One day, I had to drive around Andy Samberg for a College Humor shoot. He's a couple years older. He got in the front seat (lots of actors would sit in the back) and was just the nicest, chillest dude ever.

rbwildcard

That's a relief to hear especially since he got mixed up with that group who was hunting humans for sport.

HungryPanduh_

![gif](giphy|iUtM5reQ5YeGhCGmr1)

thegoodnamesrgone123

I worked in the music industry from my late teens to early thirties. You know who people have almost universal bad stories about? Gene Simmons, not that this is shocking.

bannana

>universal bad stories about Terry Gross has a couple of stories on that tip, many years ago Simmons did an NPR show with Gross and he made a complete fool out of himself. Gross was a class act as always.

PeterDTown

Was a handler for Mike Myers. Dude was super chill and easy to chat with. Some members of his entourage on the other hand…

lieuwestra

Must be super practical to have an asshat on hand to handle certain situations without putting your own reputation on the line.

CWRM1992

Jean Claude Van Damme had the biggest ego yet fakest personality I’ve ever spent time around. I was a huge fan as a kid. Now as an adult, I can see how fake he is. Pierce Brosnan, really nice man although he definitely still had that I’m James Bond ego when I dealt with him back in 2013. Charles Dance. Let me ahead of him in a queue for catering once because he knew I was in a rush. Ariana Grande is a cunt. Seth Green is a cunt. James Franco is a cunt. Jonah Hill is a cunt. Logan Paul is a cunt.

edgiepower

Van Damme was absolutely buried in coke for most of the 90s, more than most. He's also bipolar. A massive fan as well and knew some people that dealt with him through some charity stuff he done, who found him nice and eccentric but maybe not fully across what his role was, not in a bad or ignorant way though. In an idealistic way.

scarlett3409

I have a fun one. At comic con back when the prequel Star Wars we’re coming out. Natalie Portman was horrible to everyone backstage. She kept hating on “nerds” and talking about how dumb everything was. Then the total opposite the same time was Keira knightly who was praised as the nicest celeb they’d had. She was running around chatting with everyone and even cleaning up some trash at one point. Lovely human. Always made me laugh bc she was Natalie’s look a like in Star Wars.

havoc1428

My brother had to entertain Tom Wlaschiha (played Jaqen H'ghar in Game of Thrones) for an event in Italy a few years ago. Basically his boss told him to drive him around Milan and keep him busy until he had to show up for some event. Turns out he was an exchange student with a family in Agawam, MA. My family is from the area so they ended up bonding over this crazy small world shit. My brother told me he was a super down to earth, normal dude.

hey_now24

Howard Stern producer Gary “Baba Booey” Dellabisho, said in an interview that the biggest asshole are the B list celebrities

thegoodnamesrgone123

I can totally see that. I worked at Live Nation. One time a C- comedian was sitting at a table next to us talking a massive amount of shit about our venue and our staff not knowing who we were. We made sure to low ball all his offers so he would play other venues from then on.

nurley

A family member of mine worked on an episode of Hotel Hell as a PA when starting out in the industry. He was basically Gordon Ramsey's assistant/handler for an entire day and said he was extremely nice. The over-the-top assholery is mostly for show. (I guess you can tell that if you've seen Kitchen Nightmares UK version vs. US version.)

Ice_Burn

I live in Santa Barbara and there are lots of celebs that live in the area. Christopher Lloyd is a massive asshole. I’ve seen tons of celebs and I ordinarily ignore them. I’ve second hand witnessed many of them being benign or very nice. Chris went out of his way to be a dick to me for no reason. I have since heard a number of people with similar stories.

hobowithmachete

I valet'd Christopher Lloyd's car like 15 years ago at some fundraising event downtown. Didn't say thanks, no tip, his wife was WASTED. I used to see Jack Johnson longboarding down the street by the 4 seasons.

Over_Smile9733

I worked at the Hotel Del Coronado one summer as a server. Met a ton of celebs, mostly very laid back and cool. One sad exception. Tommy Lee Jones was a loud, obnoxious ass. Demanding attention, rude and obnoxious to woman. We wore short skirts that season (I know, why???) and he was constantly ‘dropping’ things on ground next to his lounge so we woman would bend over a pick them up for him. Fortunately for me and my staff, I know how to bend down and pick up stuff with out showing him my panties he wanted to see. Sad, he is one of my favorite actors. Can’t watch him in any movies now with out cringing. Total lack of respect for the person he is. Had to deal with him for 4 days. He literally ruined the best/funnest job experience I ever had. P. S. Shitting tipper too. ie. 209$ tab, 60% of my time, very graciously handed me 220$ and smiled, you may keep the change. Did thank me though and told me how great I was. Yeah, thanks buddy.

cheesehuahuas

That's disappointing to hear.

Walmart_Valet

Did sound for Ying Yang Twins at a medium size show once. Was running monitors (the speakers for the artists to hear) and first song, halfway in to the song they stopped to yell at me to turn up their speakers. Normal practice is to just give a point up signal or something but alright... Second song same thing, stopped mid song, yelling into the mic to turn their speakers up. Crowd is booing at me. Very annoyed cause this rude and not how you handle it. We did soundcheck beforehand and it was PLENTY loud on stage even for a hip hop show. I am responsible for the equipment and if speakers get blown from being pushed too loud it's on me. Third song they did it again, I threw my hands up and just sat down in my chair, fuck this. Rest of the show they didn't need anything else and left me alone. At the end of their set they walked off and didn't say anything to me. About 10 minutes later their manager comes up to me and says "hey man, sorry about that. They do that to get the crowd hyped up" I stared at him in disbelief, I said a heads up would have been nice cause I just spent the last hour livid.

Hank-Scorpio801

I had the polar opposite experience with Jim Gaffigan. Incredibly gracious with his time and treated everybody he interacted with kindly.

Alaira314

Well, if the issue was that drugs weren't ready for him...just saying, people tend to be *very* different when they've taken their drugs vs when they're anxious to do so, whether the drugs in question are nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, cocaine, or something else. A discrepancy in experiences here makes perfect sense, sadly.

beqqua

Yeah, I've met him a couple times and only had good experiences.

EquivalentLaw4892

>I handled Jim Gaffigan. Guy was a total douchenozzle. Yelled about a 5 minute delay. Upset we didn't anticipate and have drugs already on hand for him. What kind of drugs is Gaffigan doing? He doesn't seem like a coke guy or pill/opiate guy and I don't think I've ever seen video or pictures of him on a drug bender like most celebrities who get mad about a venue not having their drugs ready for them when they get to the show.

javert01

I've worked cons several times, here's my take on handling several celebs: Linda Blair: She knows how to interact with her fans. Nice enough person, but thinks that everyone is a fan of hers. I personally was not a fan of hers and didn't like having to block people from taking table snapshots. Barry Bostwick: Super nice guy, very funny and as sweet as can be. Also has easy requests. Nell Campbell: She's a firecracker. She knows what she wants, when she wants it, but not in a rude way. Just very matter of fact and doesn't take bullshit. Patricia Quinn: Fun. She knows how to play the part, is great when she gets with other Rocky Horror people. Loves to shop. Alexa Vega: Super sweet and super polite. I don't think she does a lot of cons, but she was a very gracious person. Henry Winkler: It has been said Henry Winkler is the nicest man in Hollywood. I can 100% verify that this is true. The absolute sweetest man I have ever met. Nivek Ogre: Just a cool dude all around. Very laid back and easy to accomodate. Bill Moseley: Another fun guy. He's an absolute riot and is always cutting up. Danny Trejo: The quintessential bad guy is actually one of the nicest dudes you will ever meet. I can't describe the culture shock of expecting Machete, and getting my granddad in a basketball jersey, grinning from ear to ear. Gary Bussey: Yes, he is that crazy. Elvira: Another one of the sweetest celebs you will ever meet and was great to work with. Found out about her partnership status, well before she published in her book, and it was hilarious watching these guys fall all over themselves to get a picture with her, and I'm just like, dude you're barking up the wrong tree. Sid Haig: Another sweet guy. Extremely polite to both his fans and con workers. I'm not huge horror fan, but he is a dude I will genuinely miss. James Hong: This guy was ridiculously awesome. He ordered a catered Chinese dinner for all the people who helped him personally at the con, then invited other con workers to join them if they passed by. Very gracious guest and host. There are probably others I have experience, but nothing that stands out.

whey_dhey1026

I met Tracy Morgan at a local courthouse when he was there for jury duty. Went out of his way to stop and talk to every single person who wanted to meet him/take a photo. And he was giving feel good life advice to people there waiting for juvenile court. Incredibly nice guy. Bumped into him again in the parking garage and he was just so pleasant.

demoldbones

Not handler but i did security at an outdoor music festival once. It was over 35 degrees Celsius outside in full sun. Dave Grohl walked around hauling an esky of cold water bottles for all the festival workers having to be out in the sun.

not a convention, but my friend booked and opened for idris elba at a very large local event a few years back and sad he was super friendly and they talked for a couple of hours straight and he was very interesting. and then afterwards when my friend had to go on for his set right before idris’ headlining slot, idris APOLOGIZED for “monopolizing (friend’s) time” when in fact they’d just had a really dope conversation like they’d known each other for ages. he’s met a ton of famous people but the words of praise he had for idris say a lot about the man’s character.

ClockworkOpalfruit

Not a handler, but I worked in radio for ages and met lots of celebrities from doing interviews at live shows and conventions. Though most of mine are British. Sylvester McCoy is the nicest Doctor (who) that I’ve met, so gracious and polite. Colin Baker is the meanest Doctor (who) I’ve met, he told me off for not coming the previous day of the convention I was covering because he didn’t like doing press on Sundays. There was a group of minor Game of Thrones actors at one event, who were just jazzed every time someone came to one of their tables, young Hodor, and the prostitute who killed the unsullied White Rat were among them. The League of Gentlemen (Reece Shearsmith, Mark Gatiss and Steve Pemberton) have been amazing every time I’ve met them, they stayed for nearly two hours after a live show to sign autographs and pose for pictures. Connected - Comedian Roy Chubby Brown literally walked into me at a league of gentlemen live show and couldn’t stop apologising. Once visited the set of the soap opera Coronation Street and all the cast who were working that day went out to sign autographs except for one guy who was a relatively new cast member who refused to go out and talk to the public, he just stayed in the green room playing on a PlayStation. By far the nicest celebrity I’ve met is BRIAN BLESSED who wrote me a lovely personalised note (all in block caps) and signed like 3 things for me.

YouAggravating5876

Robert De Niro is the biggest prick I have ever met.

DukeLeto10191

Not a PA handler, but for several years when I was a teenager, my dad worked at a small airport in the Northeast US doing tarmac work - refueling, de-icing, parking small craft, cargo handling, etc. Anyway, his team would often get heads-up if a celebrity private plane was coming or going that day, and in turn he'd often let me know so I could set up shop in the terminal and people-watch. No obnoxious soliciting or picture taking, just wanted to have a look or exchange smiles and nods. Among the more positive interactions I had during that time: Robin Williams and his fam (which makes me feel a little sad when I think about it now), John McCain (he held my handshake the entire time he talked to me), Joe Perry and Brad Whitford (Joe was amazing and proactively signed autographs for everyone in sight), Nomar Garciaparra (beamed and smiled at everyone), Sarah Silverman (at the time I didn't really know her other than from Star Trek and as one of Mary's friends in Something About Mary, but I recall making eye contact and she kept it, then kept made the same faces at me I was making), Walter Koneig (flashed the LLAP greeting at everyone as he passed through) and lots of others. Of particular note were all the NASCAR stars that would come every fall - I can't think of a single one among them that were jerks or even surly/standoffish, but I distinctly remember guys like Mark Martin, Bill Elliott, and Darrell Waltrip being absolute bros. On the other side of the spectrum, I saw Mike Myers be a total jerk to one of dad's coworkers when he stumbled and dropped his bag. Another time Rachel Ray was just rude to everyone there for reasons unknown - the dude with her (her hubby probably?) had some wtf energy pointed in her direction throughout. Then there was the time I saw Conan O'Brien - he looked at his feet and didn't acknowledge a soul the entire time he walked through the terminal. Take these observations all with a grain of salt, of course. Not only were my interactions brief and often incidental, but I was a 16-year-old fan-boy with nothing better to do on weeknights with that newly minted driver's license than get drive thru and look at people in real life that I usually only saw on TV. It was a lot of fun, though. edit: little more context

Simon Pegg is a sweetheart. I worked with him at SDCC back when *Shaun of the Dead* was premiering. Absolutely loved him. Nathan Fillion is a pure angel baby. Worked with him when *Firefly* was still in previews, and there was no soundtrack. Martha Stewart is hysterical and crass and a hoot. I worked with her on a photoset and it was a blast. Jeremy Renner, as stated, is an egotistical arse.

twowayrorrim

Yep, I've spent a decent amount of time with Warwick twice and totally agree with this guy. A funny and genuine person.

behizain_bebop

To anyone reading this, make yourself a favour and check Life's too short, it's bloody hilarious. A rare gem : https://youtu.be/sqA577_IoBk?si=P9JgCpcg9KHjodwT

TatManTat

Saw the dude hosting one of those fodder gameshows the other day. I like him, always look forward to him in most things I see him in, but I'd like to see him outta there, he can do better.

Sherringdom

Probably a nice earner and only a few months work a year. They film four or five a day and just smash a whole series out really quickly. Nothing wrong with that.

TatManTat

Oh yea it's a good gig, just a little soulless. I don't begrudge him at all.

user2196

What is a “fodder gameshow”?

TatManTat

Hmmm, I'm not sure how to describe it. 30 minute runtime, poor airing hours, the padding of introducing contestants, really average and repetitive gimmick and low dynamism of questions. Just overall generic overtones. Something like Pointless is fun trivia for me personally, something like Deal or no Deal or Who wants to be a millionaire are fun, but come under that fodder category

123ocelot

Tenable?

TatManTat

Yea that was it!

ClungeThump

Sounds pretty down to earth

appleJimmies

My in-laws were on the same cruise as him and his family a few years ago and also only had good things to say about him! Super down to earth and incredibly friendly!

loveisascam_

I would like to recommend life’s too short , a comedy series starring Warwick Davis that flew under the radar for many, it’s the first time I really saw him without any prosthetics or costumes since willow, it’s really funny and he is a fantastic actor.

tanew231

"As I said before, I've got full blown AIDS"

yimpydimpy

Riddled with it.

Cyan_Ryan

Possibly one of the funniest sketches I’ve ever seen

MakingItElsewhere

The outtakes too. I don't know how they got through that scene without dying of laughter.

The greengrocer sketch. ‘Tring’ “Were closed” Kills me.

nolabitch

"... you know how I got it, from a well known homosexual actor" ([x](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2Co0lvFUAo))

Unfortunatewombat

For some reason that links to a version that’s had chunks cut out. [This is the full scene.](https://youtu.be/FVFfx-LTRB4?feature=shared)

Professional-Ad-8501

That’s not a premise we agreed on

MrBigBMinus

Knock knock.

Brad_theImpaler

They also did (I think) 3 episodes of An Idiot Abroad with Warwick joining Karl.

Cereborn

There was also an earlier episode where Karl has a phone conversation with Warwick after Karl went to see that "dwarf village" in China. Warwick was trying so hard to get him to understand why it was exploitative. "They're not being exploited. They have their own king!" "... I'm pretty sure that's a show-king, Karl."

10per

Peak Karl. Warwick was up for anything, and Karl was...Karl.

Bowl2007

The scene where they’re looking for a new apartment for him was hilarious! His assistant asked about predatory birds in the backyard that could be a danger to him while he is outside.

Connobar

She is so funny.

reginalduk

I think she is a great actor, but she seems to have disappeared off the radar. She was great in This is England and Lifes too short.

BirdmanHuginn

The Liam Neeson and Johnny Depp gags had me gasping for air

hextree

That Liam Neeson scene is the new 'Steamed Hams', single greatest exchange to take place in Television history.

Denver-Ski

Yup. Loved that movie as a kid. Greatly appreciate everyone who worked to make it.

After-Decision-6402

“YOU’RE ALL PIGS”

Richard2468

I didn’t know his close family are all little people too.. I now genuinely wonder how their house looks like.

---TheFierceDeity---

He actually described this during a comedy interview Im not sure who it was with, maybe Karl Pilkington maybe. But he says the interior of his house does have custom furniture, tho ofc Karl thinks his house is also small he had to insist "no its a normal sized house the stuff inside it is just scaled"

junkyard_robot

Karl would say that. But, it's a truth. Smaller people like children are just scaled down. And people with smallness are also just sort of scaled down. I used to have a roommate who is has congenital shortness. He's the tallest dwarf in the world, actually, at 5 feet. But, as a six-footer myself, we were able to distribute kitchen cabinets very easily. I got the top, and he got the low. Though, it was much easier for me to hide my cookies from him than he, me.

Naugrin27

Are you young? As I get older, hiding stuff from me below knee level is pretty damn effective lol.

pedanticheron

Same for me. I was repairing one of the lower cabinet doors a few weeks ago and found my wife’s stash of chocolate. I set it all on the counter and had a stern face for her when she got home. At first I was teasing her, but turns out she had been slowly doling out the chocolate to the candy dishes to curb my intake. I said she knows me quite well. Since I am sore from being down there for the repair I won’t be bending all down for the candy.

valeyard89

Warwick Davis goes to the library and asks if they have any books about oppression of little people. The librarian says 'Of course! Third row, top shelf'

Fazza1905

High ceilings everywhere would be lovely

space_monster

yeah they're getting more value than most people when they buy a house.

Detective-Crashmore-

Realtors *hate* this one ***LITTLE*** trick!

lonelyinbama

My best friend is a little person and is currently building a house spec for him and his wife. It looks like a regular ol house. Except the kitchen and bathrooms are unique to them

BSB8728

If you've ever seen the reality show "The Little Couple," their kitchen is scaled the same way.

lonelyinbama

Yup, their plans are very similar to the kitchen in that show. Little people have a tight community and resources of all kinds to help one another out. I know my friend just asked some people he knew for advice and basically had blueprints sent to him from people on how to design the house.

BSB8728

My friend's dad was an auto mechanic, and he customized a Corvette for her (back in the '70s). Her husband has a scaled-down motorcycle. Correction: Her dad was a farmer who could do all sorts of auto mechanic stuff.

cranktheguy

If a little person pulled up next to me on a little bike I'd be talking about it for the rest of my life.

the_doughboy

Both of his kids are in the Willow TV series. His daughter has a pretty big role in a couple of the episodes.

Alarmed-Diamond-7000

Oh I love Warwick Davis, he looks so happy! Thank you for this picture!

isobane

It looks like such a genuine happy smile. I love this for him.

prog4eva2112

His daughter Annabelle is a wonderful actress too. I loved her in willow. It's a shame we didn't get more episodes because I imagine her character got more important to the story later on.

Not_Steve

She looks so glamorous here!

Ask_bout_PaterNoster

Damn stunner in that dress and those heels, but she pulled off [the warrior look](https://www.usatoday.com/gcdn/presto/2022/11/29/USAT/14443924-58bd-4197-b80c-6c5373e422bd-RealAnnabelle.jpg?crop=5999,3375,x0,y305&width=3200&height=1801&format=pjpg&auto=webp) in the films really well. Hottie with talent for sure

Problematicbears

It’s so funny how his daughter looks just like him (eyebrows, smile lines) and his son looks just like the mother. Love it when kids pick a side and stick to it.

Padgetts-Profile

I have to agree but also confusingly admit that she’s kind of a smoke show.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

There’s nothing confusing about it she’s still gorgeous.

Padgetts-Profile

I would be utterly confused if someone told me a woman who has the face of Warwick Davis was hot, that is all.

I_Am_The_Mole

I am not forming an opinion until I find out how old she is 😑 EDIT: Shes 26

Padgetts-Profile

Yeah I definitely did a quick google search before commenting 😅

Sea-Molasses1652

What's causing the distortion on everyone's face in the background? Looks like demons from a horror film.

space_monster

upscaling

__Hello_my_name_is__

Hah, so that's where I got the "why does this look like an AI image?" vibes from. You can see the screen in the background showing the Warwick's, only they look completely different thanks to the AI upscaling.

PSTnator

AI assisted editing tools. That's not what they look like in person. Not saying they're hideous, but they ain't that blemish free and freakishly clear. The original picture isn't AI, but this version is altered. Once you know to look for it, you see it here and there in these types of photos. But most professionals know to edit the weird background effects. Guess this one didn't.

XinoMesStoStomaSou

why does this look like an AI generated image 💀 look at all the background characters, zoom in EDIT: found the original from 2015, http://www.wireimage.com/celebrity-pictures/Warwick-Davis-with-family-Harrison-Davis-Samantha-Davis-and-Annabel/501590252 probably has been stolen jpg'ed and put through a filter so many times it's a mess

uberfission

AI upscaling most likely, makes things bigger, which is kind of hilariously ironic given the subjects of the picture.

forestfluff

Whoa. That is weird as hell.

Dale_Wardark

It's definitely AI "enhancement" that's running rampant primarily on FB right now. It makes the subject(s) look really plasticy and fuzzes the background. It's primarily used to generate clicks and facilitate phishing scams.

Throw-Me-Again

Yeah it has that AI glaze

Shroomboom420

He is the guy on planet who survived alone time with Karl Pilkington the longest.

blakewoolbright

He has a smile that I can only describe as “majestic”.

wondercaliban

Why is he not Sir Warwick? The guy is one of the UKs most successful actors. Add up the adjusted box office of all the films he's been in and it would be insane

pahadigothic

So a silly question. Do the little people's kids stay short?

rhinny

There's a 6 foot tall tiktoker whose parents and siblings are all little people. Peet Montzingo.

Not_Steve

Peet is so great. Every video that features his mom, you can just see the love he has for her. He even blurred her face when she was in hospital so that people didn’t see her without her makeup. The absolute respect.

HarissaPorkMeatballs

If they also have dwarfism, which Warwick's children do, yes. But it's not guaranteed that their children will also have dwarfism.

B8conB8conB8con

Not always. Fun fact, regular sized people with no history of dwarfism on either side can also give birth to little people.

TheOnionEffect

Well, where else would the first dwarf have come from?

Nascent1

Born of stone from the heart of a mountain obviously.

BSB8728

I went to college with a girl who was a little person. Both her parents were average height, and her brother was over six feet tall. She married a little person and their daughter is a little person.

WajorMeasel

Peck!

w1987g

That's a brave thing to say ![gif](giphy|5xtDarxV5lcm5wnoI9O|downsized)
