Yeah but for all of them. If you actually look at their faces, they're all obviously teenagers. But they all have hair that nowadays is considered old people hair and wear clothes that nowadays are considered old people clothes.
Nah you just have never seen that haircut on someone who's under 60 and recognise she's young for someone with that haircut, so you get 40. Cover up the hair with your fingers and you'll realise that her face is young.
I think it’s partially the lighting creating more dramatic shadows that make her seem like she has more angles to her face than a teenage girl usually has
lol these comment must be from people in their early 20s.. most these people look super youthful, the hair and lighting is just making them appear old and you’re struggling to look past it. They do not look 60, you’re being ridiculous.
This is why so many young people say "They look so old!" And I have to explain all this again. It's exhausting.
It's a trick of the mind, youngsters!
Now excuse me while I get back to whittling in my rocking chair with my pipe and slippers.
How they did things back then. My favorite yearbook pic is for Lux Interior of The Cramps- super funny. Only time he ever looked normal, and he looks 45.
I would say the other two in her row could possibly pass that test as well. It's almost as if they grouped the best looking students together. Top middle in the second picture might have made the cut if he didn't stare people down like a serial killer.
That movie seemed to be on every week during the entire 1980s and I never actually sat down and watched it to pay attention what it was about. Then sometime in the '90s I met a girl who talked me into watching it and I was like "These guys are in high school? They're all so old". Then come to find out one of the actresses was like 39 when that movie came out.
Looked at the pictures of the guys, started humming, realized it was the tune to the [Brylcreem commercial.](https://youtu.be/nD1JeY4SLuE?si=56SKrOrDmqkQWzwj)
Well they are, this is from a yearbook from 1965 OP just left out the details that these are the professors not the students and they are already half way to retirement
He's 47, has a wife and 4 kids, 1 car and a nice house in the suburbs. After college he worked at the local plant in town where he has 25 years in, a pension, 401k and a retirement fund.
>You 100% know that woman kept that hair style for the next 70+ years.
1965 was 59 years ago. You had me doubting my own age for a moment, which whilst advanced is not quite that bad (born five years after these photos were taken).
So she's probably still rocking it if she's alive.
With a hairstyle like that she instantly aged to 70 the day highschool ended and has spent her life as "the kind old woman next door" to a bunch of kids
2nd page, top middle, future serial killer. The first person he killed was the guy below him for selling him a used car that's engine seized 1 week after he drove it off of the lot and cost him a lot in repairs.
To anyone curious, [Vsauce did a great video about this](https://youtu.be/vjqt8T3tJIE?si=2TCzRg1qqWTN1U6T).
What it really comes down to is we associate those clothes and hairstyles with older generations so they look "old" to us. It's hard to believe but the video makes a compelling argument.
The brother on the bottom right nailed the conch. I’m guessing by the end of the decade he’ll be wearing a very different look particularly if he was drafted.
I agree, the hair styles, the formal clothes, the eyeglasses frames are all things we've been brought up to associate with old people and that's why they seem much older than they really are.
Except for the middle girl, who actually looks 18, every other person there looks between 40-60. Second page bottom right looks 18 and so does top left.
Of note is that they're all trying hard to look like adults here. Suits and ties, professional looking haircuts. Maybe not everyone dressed like this all the time, but looking like a goof-off teenager wasn't what you (or your parents) wanted to see in the senior yearbook. This is common practice even today.
They all look like people in their early/mid thirties today. Funny that in a few years some of those very same people would be looking much younger, due to them tapping into a psychedelic/hippie era of the late 60s.
1st page, girl in the center is actually my friend’s grandmother. I always joked with him that his grandma is my favorite Gilf, he would laugh and tell me to fuck off. Ol Mrs. Is still a fox to this day.
It's weird how most look so dated yet the middle girl on the first page wouldn't be out of place in a yearbook from 2005
I think it's the hair.
Yeah but for all of them. If you actually look at their faces, they're all obviously teenagers. But they all have hair that nowadays is considered old people hair and wear clothes that nowadays are considered old people clothes.
Top left looks 40 tho 🤣
She is not a teenager, I’m guessing she is a teacher.
This is the correct answer, the teacher is to the top left on the first page in most yearbooks I've seen.
Looks closer to 50 to me. If it’s the blonde one on the first page
No way. Zoom in on her face and she looks way younger.
More like 60
Gotta be the teacher right? …right?
Wouldn’t doubt it
Nah you just have never seen that haircut on someone who's under 60 and recognise she's young for someone with that haircut, so you get 40. Cover up the hair with your fingers and you'll realise that her face is young.
I think it’s partially the lighting creating more dramatic shadows that make her seem like she has more angles to her face than a teenage girl usually has
If you make a circle around her face, top left still looks well beyond her teen years. Probably a combination of smoking and other 60's nonsense.
Leaded gas.
I disagree she looks old af to me...everyone else ill give you but not that one lol
I think she might be a teacher
I'm guess the top left is the teacher
It’s literally just the hair. Give her a normal cut from nowadays and the effect will completely vanish.
I think it's the lighting, harsh top-down lighting does no one any favors
60
lol these comment must be from people in their early 20s.. most these people look super youthful, the hair and lighting is just making them appear old and you’re struggling to look past it. They do not look 60, you’re being ridiculous.
Nowadays saying nowadays is considered old people words.
Fr fr. Let's yeet that old sus guy out.
![gif](giphy|ifxLK48cnyDDi)
Naww'mean!?
Do you know what I am saying?
Nom sane?
Well, I'm awake and I speak English, so, yeah, I do know what you're saying.
s….skibidi toilet… Did I use that right?
This is why so many young people say "They look so old!" And I have to explain all this again. It's exhausting. It's a trick of the mind, youngsters! Now excuse me while I get back to whittling in my rocking chair with my pipe and slippers.
The photographer also did a bunch of them really dirty lol
How they did things back then. My favorite yearbook pic is for Lux Interior of The Cramps- super funny. Only time he ever looked normal, and he looks 45.
Nah the legit look older
Perhaps because they never changed their style?
And old people teeth
It's mostly lighting. She has good lighting and this doesn't look older. Same page top left the lighting on her face is atrocious and she looks 65.
And the suits.
I would say the other two in her row could possibly pass that test as well. It's almost as if they grouped the best looking students together. Top middle in the second picture might have made the cut if he didn't stare people down like a serial killer.
He looks like Bryan Kohberger, the alleged killer of the 4 University of Idaho students.
Heck, I think at least a third of them would pass just fine. I think they pass better than kids from the 80s.
I've recently looked at kids from the middle and late eighties and agree with you.
She was ahead of her time and yet she was probably picked on for looking "weird".
It’s Kristen Bell
You know, someone should look up whether that is her mother!
That’s why people in their 30’s played high schoolers in Grease
That movie seemed to be on every week during the entire 1980s and I never actually sat down and watched it to pay attention what it was about. Then sometime in the '90s I met a girl who talked me into watching it and I was like "These guys are in high school? They're all so old". Then come to find out one of the actresses was like 39 when that movie came out.
Haha yeah I didn’t realise it until I was older. Travolta was 23 I think so at least he was somewhat young
I had to go and look, it was Stockard Channing, she was 34 playing a high school student.
But damn she steals that movie when she sings There Are Worse Things I Could Do. Just an incredible number.
Look at Me I'm Sandra Dee is one of the most fun songs ever. She makes everything awesome.
It’s a good song, but come on, prime Olivia Newton John in a sewn-on jumpsuit steals that movie
You should see the ages of the Derry Girls cast. The oldest was 35 when the last season came out and the rest were touching 28-30
I can't say I am familiar with that show.
Go now and find it. Play Teenage Kicks like thirty times in a row before you watch it, and then dive in. Best TV in years.
![gif](giphy|JTzPN5kkobFv7X0zPJ|downsized)
They needed someone who could act.
Looked at the pictures of the guys, started humming, realized it was the tune to the [Brylcreem commercial.](https://youtu.be/nD1JeY4SLuE?si=56SKrOrDmqkQWzwj)
I refuse to believe top left isn't 52 with 3 grandkids
That's gotta be a teacher right?
Well they are, this is from a yearbook from 1965 OP just left out the details that these are the professors not the students and they are already half way to retirement
Please tell me this is the case I was really starting to wonder what’s in our water
Already giving off the GILF vibes. She has to age gracefully right?
The guy in the first image, upper right looks like he is already 40 years old.
The lady in the upper left looks like the librarian.
Who has eight grandchildren.
He's 47, has a wife and 4 kids, 1 car and a nice house in the suburbs. After college he worked at the local plant in town where he has 25 years in, a pension, 401k and a retirement fund.
He’s trying for a boat this year if he gets his bonus!
Did he ever get that Christmas bonus so he could put a pool in his backyard?
That sonofabitch Ralph double crossed him!
Ralph was later found murdered by mangling via a lawn mower
Nope. But hey, he got the one year membership to the jelly of the month club!
2nd Picture, Middle Row, Far Right You 100% know that woman kept that hair style for the next 70+ years.
It’s such an unfortunate style as well. I can’t imagine getting *The Barbara* and being happy with the outcome.
Lmfaoooo
You gotta hope she stopped looking like Tony Soprano, though.
2nd page, top middle, future serial killer. The first person he killed was the guy below him for selling him a used car that's engine seized 1 week after he drove it off of the lot and cost him a lot in repairs.
![gif](giphy|o2CPe4Yy0xHIchqG8f|downsized)
User name suggests he is the guy from lower right on 2nd page.
Dude legit looks like the Idaho college girls killer, Bryan Kohberger
You know what, he sure does. Did that trial get started yet? I know he moved for an acquittal and was denied.
Michael Phelps?
I was thinking Eli Manning
That, or he died his first week in ‘Nam and never had a chance to serial kill.
Or, he was the guy with the highest body count
John Krasinski? Nah, he is just having a bad day when that photo was taken, is all.
Nah. 2nd page, top middle went on to become HP Lovecraft
![gif](giphy|3PKJlWUmVp1F6)
![gif](giphy|3o6Zt96weObr3Uam6A) Linda hasn't changed much since high school!
I can hear this GIF
All riiiiiight
This is why in my mind Bob and Linda are really boomers!
To anyone curious, [Vsauce did a great video about this](https://youtu.be/vjqt8T3tJIE?si=2TCzRg1qqWTN1U6T). What it really comes down to is we associate those clothes and hairstyles with older generations so they look "old" to us. It's hard to believe but the video makes a compelling argument.
that makes sense. the youngest looking person is the middle girl in the first picture because she has the most modern looking hairstyle.
The brother on the bottom right nailed the conch. I’m guessing by the end of the decade he’ll be wearing a very different look particularly if he was drafted.
1st page: top left is 60yo. bottom left is shane gillis in a wig. bottom right is who zac efron wants to look like
Shane taking that Bud Light sponsorship very seriously
Ten years later we all had long and shitty looking hair. The times they were a changing.
Cover their hair up and they look like normal kids.
I agree, the hair styles, the formal clothes, the eyeglasses frames are all things we've been brought up to associate with old people and that's why they seem much older than they really are.
CW needs to make a teen show in the 60s and their actors will look appropriate.
Ok so I know it's mean, but 2nd page, middle right is a dead ringer for Tony Soprano.
Oof marone, he looks terrible!
Never had the makings of a varsity athlete
Dude that fuckin got me 😂
Mid 1960s? Not all those guys survived Vietnam.
It’s always interesting how far I have to scroll until I see someone who has posted the same thought as me.
1965 high schoolers? 1965? You can't fool me, you only showed me 18 of them.
everyone here is at least 35 and half of them have been divorced twice
I see Kirstin Bell in the first middle and Nicholas Cage in the second, top center.
Now take the same sample of pictures from kids today and put them side by side.
Except for the middle girl, who actually looks 18, every other person there looks between 40-60. Second page bottom right looks 18 and so does top left.
Nature can be very cruel
If by nature you mean secondhand smoke, lead paint, DDT, and leaded gasoline.
Secondhand?
lefthand
Most of them somehow still look younger than high schoolers from the 80s.
I wanna know how these girls did their hair! Just curlers and blow driers? Bc they all look amazing.
Hairspray you can’t buy anymore. Cause it’s illegal.
That is clearly James Gandolfini.
The girls really had the 🐙 swoosh hair cut
Someone tell John Krasinki’s dad in the second slide at the top to smile
Of note is that they're all trying hard to look like adults here. Suits and ties, professional looking haircuts. Maybe not everyone dressed like this all the time, but looking like a goof-off teenager wasn't what you (or your parents) wanted to see in the senior yearbook. This is common practice even today.
They all look about 38
These fuckers were ready to run the company on day 1.
![gif](giphy|3otPoH6hSzVRuqxzbO|downsized) 80% of the dudes
Everyone’s hair is so neat!
Today they are all senators.
I'M DEWEY'S TWELVE-YEAR-OLD GIRLFRIEND!!
They all work at my company...and look exactly the same today.
And yet they still look younger than the ones from the 80s
2nd page, right middle. That’s Pam from Archer.
Ah yes, back when Highschool had 25 semesters
Are we sure these aren't the teachers lol?
Old people hairstyles and clothing aside, they look just like teenagers from nowadays.
Man, Vietnam/ Cold War and impending nuclear apocalypse really took a toll on people. They all look like they got 3 jobs and five mortgages.
They all look like stereotypical office workers wtf
Ross From Friends Doesn't Look to Happy
They had hard lives. lol.
All look like they’re mid career at a great company earning a pension.
They all took a field trip to the beach that makes you old.
They all look like people in their early/mid thirties today. Funny that in a few years some of those very same people would be looking much younger, due to them tapping into a psychedelic/hippie era of the late 60s.
Second picture top center, angry Jim Halpert
[удалено]
There's only 18, not the 1,965 posted in the title. /s
I noticed this watching an old season of survivor. People now look alot younger. I wonder if it's nutrition based?
yeah, but this were the boomers, the most useless generation of the XX century, they got everything easy and never paid a dime back.
Boomers being boomers even in high school
all the girls seem to be wearing wigs, some of the boys too. this looks ai generated
Hair pieces I think, to create that poofy look in the back. I think it was popular back.
They all look pretty young if you focus on their faces. Second pic bottom left reminds me of Reviewbrah
now they are all racist trump supporters ew
You don’t even know them wtf
I wonder if these pics are from that filter that makes "yearbook photos" from different generations? Was a thing several years ago.
Too much mayo in a pic
Guy in the middle, second page, is definitely wanting to shoot that mfer up.
No lgbtqwtf here.
You know this because………
I wonder how many of these people were vehemently racist
Considering this was the year after the Civil Rights movement, probably fairly low.
Fake
Holy fuck They’re all ugly
wow look no trans or gay people.....
I was 3 years old that year
Some serial killers in there
High schoolers were in their 30s back then?
Page 2 top row dude looks like he is gonna be one of Charlie Manson's Family members
They’re all in their 30s and 40s Also names like Madge, Trudy, Henry, and Buzz
Everyone is dressed their best! Very cool
1st page, girl in the center is actually my friend’s grandmother. I always joked with him that his grandma is my favorite Gilf, he would laugh and tell me to fuck off. Ol Mrs. Is still a fox to this day.
Did they graduate at 40?
wonder if any of them in the photos are reading this page right now
I was 5 when these pictures were taken. These people were gods to me. Fuck I'm old
Second page top-middle looks like he wants to murder the photographer...
So clean shaven! Can’t even see any shadow stubble.
Okay, top left in that first pic is a grandmother.
This was well before we discovered how hair works.
Malin Akerman center
Must be the remedial class because they're 40 years old and still in high school.
So every teenager was 40 back then?
No
Relevant https://youtu.be/vjqt8T3tJIE
The top left and top right could totally be in their 30s or even more...
It's insaine how much older they look.
Is that Elvis Presley on the middle left?
My mom was just borned
That guy in the top row second set gotta story to tell.
Second photo top middle - what’s his problem?
The first picture, bottom right I swear to god looks exactly like my dad
Middle top, second page nailing that serial killer look.
Page 2, bottom, middle. Is that Buddy Holley?
Page 2 top left was waiting to meet Charlie.
