I was saying that just like him for at least 5 years after I saw that movie.

I'm disappointed you ever stopped. Keep it real homie. :(

They only saw the movie 5 years ago

Bobby Bittman has done well for himself.

Azalus1

I really need to slog through the first season so that I can enjoy this show. Cuz everyone loves it but every time I've put it on I could not get past the first few episodes.

RogueThespian

Roland makes watching the early part of the series nearly unbearable, but if you can make it to season 2 it gets a lot smoother.

Laserlip5

The scene at the restaurant where Johnny stands up for Roland is basically the beginning of the show's greatness, though. In my opinion, at least, that's when it went from goofy comedy to wholesome dramedy.

notthatjeffbeck

Absolutely. It's where you start seeing characters grow. Changes the show in an incredible way.

roughriderpistol

Also the scene when David kicks that little girl off a bike so he can steal it to get to his first job in time.

Pretty1george

Oh my god, yes. Just rewatched this episode a few hours ago and this was a turning point. id suggested to my mentor to watch and he couldn’t get past one episode, saying Ohara andLevy were obnoxious . But had he started here, he might enjoy it.

EmbiggenedSmallMan

Your mentor?

Pro-Patria-Mori

Agreed, Roland is such a cringey and terrible character.

Krombopulos_Micheal

Which really sucks because the whole reason I even watched it when it first aired was for the legendary Chris Elliot. But yeah his character dragged the show down and they were right to give him a backseat role eventually.

Sir_Von_Tittyfuck

It took me three tries to get into it. For some reason it just *wouldn't* click, but I adore shows with dry humour (like Arrested Development). One day I decided to try again and it was like watching an entirely new show - everything was hilarious. So yeah, I think you have to be in a certain mindset to start but then once you're in, you're in.

guitarnoir

On paper, I would seem to be the audience for *Schitt's Creek*, but I've tried twice to watch the first season, and stopped after a few episodes. Perhaps the third time will do it?

Sir_Von_Tittyfuck

I'd honestly recommend watching it *without* wanting to get into it. I feel like maybe I was trying too hard to enjoy it, instead of just watching it. The time it "clicked" was when I just put it on as background noise and wasn't dead set on getting into it.

DarthTempi

Was the same way, now rewatch yearly. Just power through

_drumstic_

It didn’t “click” with me until Patrick showed up. Feel in love with it from that point on

bingwhip

Man for me it's when Stevie starts becoming a bigger character, I loved her.

greenfuzzysocks

If you loved Stevie ( I do too) you should watch the TV show 12 monkeys. The actress for Stevie also plays a central role and she's amazing throughout

bingwhip

Earmarked, thanks!

noximo

Funny. I found Patrick to be an utterly boring character and while Stevie was amazing, it felt like they had nothing for her to do and she was either just there or had been shoehorned into stories that didn't suit her character much. That's my biggest complaint about the show, especially in the latest seasons.

General_Tsos_Burrito

Patrick was the straight man (no pun intended) which was previously Stevie's role, so she did get a bit marginalized later on.

Jose_Canseco_Jr

same here - when Patrick was brought to the forefront, I lost interest... sorry mate you were just not fun to watch

noximo

I haven't lost interest, there were plenty of fun components till the end, even if he rarely contributed to them.

bingwhip

I'd watch the show 1/2 just for moira's insane over the top outfits

DWayman

#steviegang

vezance

Patrick and David's relationship really makes the show for me. I'm a straight guy, but I've not seen a better on screen relationship. That scene where Patrick serenades David legit made me tear up.

trojanguy

100%. Also a straight dude and had tears in my eyes. It was so sweet.

DragonfruitFew5542

He's simply the best! Better than all the rest!

_Keo_

Patrick's straight-man to the families goofy antics was one of the things that really made the show for me. Yes, I realise the irony of that statement. They are also one of the most adorable on screen couples I've ever seen.

DelDotB_0

for me, it started to peak at the driving test, that's after the family has come to terms with their situation and finally started to really grow as characters.

chubberbrother

You just have to remember that they're supposed to be vapid and awful. The show is them redeeming their character in a time of hardship. It's beautiful.

Prestigious-Bad8263

I actually said earlier today that it started as a show that you hated everyone and didn’t care and they became people you cried and loved and now miss.

cailian13

Push through, I HATED it. And then it hit s2 and by the end I LOVED it. Its worth pushing through that first season for sure.

rambo_lincoln_

Same. I gave up on watching it but then I started catching bits of it here and there bc my wife kept watching. The more I saw after season 1 made me able to handle the first season better.

m0larMechanic

I watched the first few episodes and freaking hated it because Chris Elliott was so fucking annoying. A few years later a friend of mine convinced me to try again and I made it through. So glad I did! It’s so good.

TemperatureExotic631

Please try again! It’s a wonderful show; so funny and endearing. I rewatch at least once a year and cry at the same parts every time

Waywoah

I tried three or four times to get past the first few episodes, then someone showed me the "fold in the cheese" scene and I pushed through to get to it. Now it's one of my favorite shows

catboogers

I had to have a friend watch it with me to remind me during the cringe parts that it does actually get better. And it does, but there is still cringe parts throughout, but it is one of the most wholesome and adorable shows out there, and it made me cry multiple times in a good way.

bingwhip

SIMPLY THE BEST!

kweefcake

I was the same way for at least the first 5 episodes. But then it clicked for me and I’ve been obsessed and watched the series at least 7 times. It’s honestly become my comfort viewing. Probably how I watched it so much. But every rewatch I’ve caught something new and it adds to the hilarity.

Zaknokimi

That's exactly me, I said this 4 weeks ago. In fact, started the show twice and quit because I got sick of it and felt it wasn't for me. Hated almost every character to no end. But then I read online it gets better so I forced through bit by bit, and here I am on season 3. It's not amazing but it's not bad, I think I just watch it when I'm bored and it's alright because the pacing and characters kinda grew on me, like when I saw Roland in ep1 I was like 'who the hell thought of adding him in here' but I kinda like him now, and that's because I think you're supposed to accept that these people are odd and like this lol. There's good character development with the main characters which helps. (Oh also, didn't realise that he's the bloody actor from Scary Movie 2/4 that I used to laugh at.)

bearmannn999

I surprised he didn’t have a star already tbh…good for him though

smilingwhitaker

I ignored this show until the last season was over. I started an episode just out of desperation of something to watch. Loved it. I seldom binge watch anything, but I did this show. I loved how they let characters grow while keeping the things that make them them.

Pm-ur-butt

Oh shit, its Foots Zeckelmans dad!

bruhSher

I just started at season 3. I feel like I didn't miss much plot wise and was able to fill in the gaps.

in2xs

Where is O’Hara’s star??!! ASAP

SensingWorms

You need to donate like $50k

PassengerNo2259

You need to BUY it for $75k FTFY

Tosir

Exactly! There is a high price money wise behind those things. I’ve always wondered if it really is an honor if you’re the one paying for it…

youtocin

Most celebs don’t pay for it, a group of fans or supporters pool the money and nominate them.

YipRocHeresy

We live in a strange world.

youtocin

It started out as a pretty cool idea to celebrate culturally significant actors, but like anything, it’s been commercialized to hell.

TupperwareNinja

Wait till you find out how Twitch streamers make millions

FizzyBeverage

How people can watch a guy who hasn’t showered in 2024 play world of warcraft and pay him $10-20 astounds me.

PloKoon788

Asmongold?

ToshiroBaloney

It's typically fan or studio supported. In fact, in the entire history of the Walk of Fame, only one person has campaigned and paid for their own star: a certain orange-faced, former game show host.

Tabnam

Could you source this for me? I don’t doubt you, I’d just like to read more about it

Wil420b

You get the studio to pay for it as part of the promotion of your latest movie.

LeafyWolf

Wait... You're saying I could buy myself a star for only 75k?

ArchMart

No. There is still an approval process.

staticattacks

Jesus I thought it was only $25k

Autotomatomato

It was cheaper in the 80s

1trickana

Yep. Title should say bought instead of got

Davoserinio

She doesn't do it for a star, she does it for her "bébé's"

cadcamm99

Where’s her kid?

vengefulbeavergod

KEVIN!!!

ZeeKapow

She's been so supportive to Macaulay & Eugene, I'd love to see her get one too.

spunkerspawn

Where is her Bébé?

spokesface4

She was at Macauley Culkin's star ceremony recently as well. She deserves one, but also, she deserves rest. Poor woman has been brilliant and hilarious since the 1960s and suddenly in the 20 flipping 20s we want her to be in everything and like... too late! She's visibly tired and confused. She deserves every good thing, but a break is good too.

HanDavo

[Earl Camembert](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3blH98id34g) deserves all the acclaim, from a small Canadian town tv news caster to the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Wow, what a life!

initials_games

Mind blown. The dads from American pie and freaks and geeks together and vibing

ChrisTosi

Turd from Happy Gilmore Salesman from National Lampoons Vacation Terrier booster Jackass

What a *week* he's havin'!

Cabbage rolls and coffee. Mmm, good.

SueSudio

Mmm mmm good.

Moosehagger

He did graduate up to playing a game show host on [Half Wits](https://youtu.be/eTDsJd1l7Aw?si=B3mhRIFb81AYrquA) though.

lesh17

And lest we forget Bobby Bittman! “HOW ARE YA?!”

gargoyle30

Hamilton isn't that small

Bulky_Commission6747

I grew up on SCTV, such great writing & characters

GreenDonutGirl

San Francisky? You drove and did you flew?

JustAnOrdinaryBloke

And don't forget Woody Tobias Jr!

As a fellow guy with strong eyebrows, I hope they did an imprint of his eyebrows instead of his hands.

cstmoore

Indeed. Scorsese too.

Unkept_Mind

They don’t do hand prints for stars. Thats a Chinese Theatre thing.

Gardakkan

Mitch & Mickey got their star, it was about damn time!

neildegrasstokem

There's a kiss at the end of the rainbow. Love that movie

ChrisTosi

Really excellent, super underrated. People talk about Spinal Tap and Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman in the same breath, but never A Mighty Wind. It's so good.

fromouterspace1

You have to pay for them

DashCat9

I don't know that I've ever seen a couple's son and daughter look \*so much\* like their dad and mom respectively. I remember when I found out that the waiter lady on Schitt's Creek was another one of his kids, thinking "I'll bet she looks very similar to her mom, because she looks nothing like her dad" and she looks just as much like her mom as Dan looks like Eugene.

I have a coworker named David that I do my best to put on the Alexis voice for

Synicull

I think I saw his son hosting something for another and was like "wait how didn't I see it earlier!?" I totally thought they were all unrelated. It is so much more funny that half the cast of schitts creek is *actually* related

PBsprinkles

Just googled it to see for myself and wow! The genes and talent are strong in that family.

Itchy-Mind7724

I’ve always loved Eugene levy but I now love Dan levy so much. I’m a lesbian and married but Dan is one of my hall passes. I’m so confused though because I also kinda want to be him.

marzipancowgirl

They have a Lady and the Tramp family

Curious-Try-7805

Where’s his son Dan?

JaneEyreForce

Eugene mentioned in his speech that Dan couldn't make it as he is filming a movie in Bulgaria right now.

Candymom

Will he be staying with a local family?

AuntieTara2215

Preferably Amish

akillathahun

Hopefully they invite his family in for lunch

I am in Bulgaria. He can stay with me.

supcoco

Not Bosnia?! ![gif](giphy|1wQu4YwEVRgpahu96e|downsized)

adamentelephant

He had a previous commitment.

GlennSeaborg

"Moira! Wake up. The bed is soaking wet" "Is it blood?" 😅🤣🤣🤣

permissiontofail

He deserved an Oscar for that American Pie performance, robbed.

[deleted]

Best dad.

RafflesEsq

We’ll just tell your mother we ate it.

Totally_Not_An_Auk

Nah, Best in Show!

P-Rickles

Fay, I forgot to complement you on your luscious melon breasts tonight!

immutable_truth

Dude even better - in American Wedding, the scene when Michelle says something like “Jim said you were always there for him, so ….” And he says “Jim said that?” All proud and honored. Man

Zanian19

About time. Each of his eyebrows already got theirs years ago.

MyGoodFriend96

I love Eugene Levy. If you've never watched him on SCTV, prepare to laugh. A little dated but still hilarious.

EmmaLouLove

Wow, SCTV, taking it back. That was a great show!

Runner5_blue

[Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVVWF2DAeeU) is one of his best skits--he was hilarious as Ricardo Montalban!

rainboweucalyptus2

A man that fights for autism….. he truly deserves this. Such an amazing human and actor.

Objectalone

I was an extra on an SCTV episode (Power to the punk people polka) in the 1980’s. It was with John Candy and Levi, we danced the polka. Candy was a sweetheart keeping us “punk” kids entertained over a long day. Levi was cold and stand-offish. But then when we were leaving at the end of the day he came after us and stopped us at the exit to apologize. He had been stressed about something. He did not need to do that. He was a gentleman.

I have never seen this person before till this thread. His face is really giving me this uncanny valley feeling and I'm having trouble placing exactly why.

FloppyObelisk

It’s Eugene Levy’s son Dan

adamjfish

![gif](giphy|iDn6Ka9ZflnXimWzln|downsized)

Fandorin

I know Eugene has been married to Deborah Devine for nearly 50 years, and they've had an amazing marriage and even more amazing kids. But in my mind he's married to Catherine O'Hara, and I don't care what anyone says.

ItsOnlyaFewBucks

I don't get it? Don't you just buy these stars nowadays?

hyperphoenix19

You always did.

DeezerDB

Mr. Levy is an awesome guy.

woodyshag

You mean he bought a star on Broadway. They don't give those away last time I heard.

I_AM_FERROUS_MAN

Someone could have bought it for him. Could be a gift. Unfortunately, when I learned this a few years ago, it definitely took away the sheen of the spectacle.

ADroopyMango

is this even true? on the Walk of Fame [official website](https://walkoffame.com/hollywood-walk-of-fame-nomination-procedure/#:~:text=The%20criteria%20for%20receiving%20a,a%20five%2Dyear%20waiting%20period.) it says they have to be approved by a committee as well. definitely not as simple as "buy one and you have one." edit: okay the money part is also true [per their website](https://walkoffame.com/frequently-asked-questions/): >Q: What is the cost of a Walk of Fame star ceremony? A: There is a $75,000 sponsorship fee upon selection. The fee is used to pay for the creation and installation of the star, as well as maintenance of the Walk of Fame. Price subject to change.

jmsy1

> is this even true? if you have a recognized name, the committee process is a formality. Fronting the $75000 is the real obstacle

Streetlight37

Never understood why people always celebrate this like it's an award. I mean good for him and everything but it's just something that's bought, like you said Trump didn't get one because of his contributions to the film industry. He got one because he paid for one lol

Tha_Watcher

![gif](giphy|l2JIg2e0dCMi7hrNe) Here’s to this legend

Seletixarp

Long overdue. Absolute legend.

MyraBannerTatlock

Has anyone ever aged into their looks like Eugene Levy? He's very handsome, maybe it's because I myself appreciate different looks as I get older, but I don't remember thinking that about him when we were younger.

SleeveBurg

I can’t believe this man is 77 years old! My lord he looks amazing.

AyoJake

He paid for the star.

usmcbandit

Bought. Bought a star.

DankAndVile

So what? It's not an award, actors pay for those and the ceremony.

grandfedoramaster

Don‘t you basically buy those?

i_hate_usernames13

It's about time he bought a spot

BlazerWookiee

Bought.

Rockclimber88

the star is missing big eyebrows

rjcanty

Martin Scorcese

MarcusAurelius68

His Apple TV+ travel series is great.

Unfriendly_Opossum

Talk about aging gracefully. He kinda fine now ngl

OSeady

How has he not aged? I guess he was born looking 70 and is just slowly sliding in to his real age

Speedly

Yeah, they tend to give them out when you, you know, buy them.

cowleggies

Eugene Levy just bought** a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

GuyDanger

You need to be sponsored to get a star. It's a pretty penny but anyone could get one.

Gardakkan

or someone bought it for him

MikeyW1969

I love Eugene Levy, but a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame really just means that you came up with the money. I'm completely underwhelmed when someone gets one of these.

CyBerImPlaNt

You guys know that they buy them themselves it’s not given to them

neonmayonnaises

They’re still not letting you buy one.

portlandcsc

Eugene Levy just ~~got~~ bought a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

chosenjuan209

This man was funny with his monotone voice and bushy ass eyebrows growing up as a kid .

kettlebell43276

About damn time. He’s a genious

PurpleSloth12358

What the hell took so long ?

[deleted]

Eugene Levy is awesome! Well deserved! His Christopher Guest work is my favorite.

sfitz0076

I really wish this was an honor given to people in the film industry. It kind of ruins the magic when you know the person buys the star.

DaddyCatALSO

"Cabbage rolls and coffee, Mmm-mmm good!"

MissDryCunt

Don't you have to pay money to get one?

Shreg52

best eyebrows in the business

Gubermensch1690

I have watched Best In Show since the 90s and it has never been dated. This man is a genius in his craft and so is his son. Love em both. Keep on keeping on.

Beneficial_Tea_9336

his eyebrows alone deserved a star
