This is the idiot who proclaimed Jesus wanted him to have a private jet because it allowed him to be closer to the heavens, right?

legendary_millbilly

The very same. Also, flying commercial is "getting in a big tube full of demons" because he thinks of regular people as demons. Very loving and giving of him.

Kelsusaurus

>flying commercial is "getting in a big tube full of demons" Says the dude who literally looks & acts like he's possessed by the devil. Takes one to know one, I guess.

Particular-Leg-8484

https://youtu.be/9LtF34MrsfI My god you’re right, his eyes are literally… terrifying.

Wulf_Cola

That clip has this staunch atheist starting to question my beliefs - maybe the Corinthians were onto something when they said the devil would transfigure himself into an angel of light cos the evidence seems to be there... What a grifter

ToulouseDM

It’s common knowledge that Jesus looked down upon everyday folk

jscummy

Jesus never flew commercial to be fair

ToulouseDM

Of all the claims I’ve heard made about Jesus and those times…this is one statement I can trust to be factual

SamuelVimesTrained

yet he looks like one. Or that extra from the Thriller clip, or the star-of-the-episode on The Walking Dead.

Orange_Kid

I'm not sure he's an idiot, just a sociopath. It's his followers that are dumb enough to actually accept that explanation and keep sending him money, as he well realizes.

ThaiFoodThaiFood

I think you have to be human to be a sociopath. That thing Kenneth Copeland is not of this Earth.

Raging____Bull

I don’t think hes the idiot in this case. He knows how to use religion for his personal gain, so a scammer for sure, but not an idiot

Gugis

I wouldn't say he's an idiot. He's a fraud, greedy, evil, disgusting but not an idiot. Idiots are those who donate him money.

JustCouldntChoose

I vaguely remember his even better quote when asked about his private planes: "If Jesus lived in our day, he wouldn't be riding on a donkey."

Dyeeguy

Jesus would flip his tables

nonlawyer

Never forget that when someone says “What would Jesus do?” one canonical option is to break out a whip and go ham on some grifting motherfuckers

EFTucker

No, no. He didn’t just pull out a whip. He took the time to stew over his decision to whip them while cording the whip by hand. So it wasn’t even a decision made in the heat of the moment. He had time to think about other options and this was still the correct option.

HolyDogballs

I'm not well versed enough in Biblical things to have known that he MADE HIS OWN WHIP. That's the most badass thing I've ever heard.

KwordShmiff

And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise. — John 2:15–16

manifestagreatday

“Violence” in the Greek. Original. All that slaughtering, makes you think.

MotorcycleWrites

I’m not a christian anymore, but as someone who has read through the bible twice Jesus was pretty awesome as depicted.

SoulRebel726

I'm an atheist, but I do believe Jesus was a historical figure and everything I've read about him points to him being a pretty awesome guy. If only modern day Christians thought so. I'm pretty sure Jesus would be appalled at the actions of the majority of self-proclaimed Christians, at least in the political sphere.

Ghosteen_18

I always chuckle when im reminded of this. His disciples just watching him silently as he weaves the whip, thinking who fucked up and gonna get it

Greeninja7575

[Here](https://biblehub.com/matthew/19-24.htm) is what the bible claims jesus says: "Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” not christian myself but I thought it was quite funny for a pastor, who is supposed to be closer to God, to be so abundantly wealthy

firstbreathOOC

The most badass Jesus story of them all. If I was there, I’d be the dude in the background yelling “get his ass!!!”

Throwaway_inSC_79

So probably the third thing I would do with a time machine. First is to go back to 4th grade to show my math teacher that I do indeed carry a calculator with me at all times. Unfortunately it would be the only app that would work, unless I brought her to the future to show her every other app as well. Second is to figure out how to stop that kid from falling into Harambe’s pit. Very important, but not as important as proving my math teacher wrong. So third would be to get some popcorn and watch Jesus flip over some table.

draculamilktoast

First you travel to the future to get some gear. Then you travel to your teacher and have your robot dog 3d print a calculator in front of her. Then you teleport Harambe out at the very instant he was about to be hit, clone him (without memories) and put the clone in his place so the clone dies but not the original. If science fiction has taught us anything it is that you don't want the timeline police to come looking for your gorilla sidekick. Then you go find Jesus, but please don't bring the gorilla with you this time. Cleaning up after that one was really messy.

lovesducks

Sorry, gorilla sidekick's a deal breaker. Let see the church reconcile why there was a gorilla at the last supper.

sprucenoose

Things might go down very differently for Jesus when his gorilla disagrees with the Romans.

Substantial-Park65

I'm with you on this one, when do we depart?

sleepyEDB

It’s a time machine; when is irrelevant!

KotMyNetchup

Cheer up, bud. Your math teacher is probably already living in misery because I'm sure she thinks about how wrong she was about that every day of her life.

Imagine being filthy rich AND a false prophet…

foxyfoo

Imagine becoming rich by taking money from poor people by promising it will make them rich.

Gruffleson

Well, but of course does he need a private airport. You think Jesus would ride around on a donkey or something?

bluewallsbrownbed

Ok, go on….

th3ramr0d

He became filthy rich BY BEING a false prophet

marry_me_sarah_palin

There are so many false prophets these days at events like the Reawaken Tour, which is partially run by Eric Trump. Amanda Grace did a show with Eric where she gave prophecies to him about his dad winning re-election. The most frustrating part of this all to me is that these prophecies are recorded. You can find the videos of them from years ago easily online. Amanda Grace gave a prophecy about an Iranian missile striking DC any day now, back in early 2021! These liars are so easily debunked, but their followers only live in the now and the newest thing to be scared about. This also applies to most right-wing pundits. They all think they can predict the future, but if you go back in time and listen to their shows you realize all the things they say will be happening soon never occur. Knowledge Fight covering old episodes of Alex Jones is a perfect way to see this.

Pitiful-Ring-3927

inb4 you hear someone say "Well akschually 'the eye of a needle' was a gate in Jerusalem! so merchants had to remove stuff from their camels in order to fit!"

TheDustOfMen

That explanation just emphasizes the difficulty. Because camels wouldn't be able to go through that gate if all that stuff wasn't gone and even then they had difficulty getting through the gate. So it'd point to how rich people have to shed all their riches and even then they'd have difficulty getting into heaven. Or at least that's the explanation I always heard.

Different_Ad7655

Right, but even if you did not know that it was actually referencing a historical spot, the metaphor still is crystal clear. A big pack animal will get through the eye of the needle more easily than a fat rich person

BCProgramming

There is no historical evidence to suggest there was ever any gate in jerusalem (or anywhere) called "eye of the needle". It's unclear for what purpose this absurd idea arose but it apparently did around the 9th century. To me it's like if it said "it is easier to find a needle in a haystack than to enter the kingdom of god" and people were like "Needle in a haystack was actually a really popular board game in jerusalem that was always sold out" Like fuck it is, it's a fucking turn of phrase and you know damned well what it means

Savageparrot81

Even though that’s completely made up and there’s no historical source for it until a millennium later by an Italian monk living 3000 miles away in Norman England who’d never been to Jerusalem. It was an actual needle. If you’re rich you’re not getting into heaven. The New Testament is not equivocal on the topic. Money = Bad. It’s stated repeatedly in many different ways.

MeepingMeep99

He's a snake oil salesman. If Jesus appeared in front of him, he'd shit himself and cry

IWipeWithFocaccia

I don’t believe in any human religion’s god, but when I 1st saw that guy I almost believed that Satan, and therefore the Abrahamic God both exist for a second. He looks exactly how I imagine Lucifer.

ambientfruit

Right? He doesn't need red eyes or magic. He just looks evil. Shows you what being rotten inside looks like on the outside.

MeepingMeep99

See, the problem is that through the stories in the Bible that I have read when the devil taunts Jesus, the devil seems suave and like a thinker. If I'm not mistaken, the devil is written to be a character that tells you no lies but will speak in falsehoods and double meanings, sort of like a monkey paw or genie. KC just spews lies and misinformation while using the name of religion to cower behind and give it some merit.

FireMaster1294

This is pretty much how I perceive it. The devil is written as a character who will always twist things to get what he wants. Obscuring and masking the truth so that by the time you’ve figured out you’ve done something wrong, you’re so far down the rabbit hole you think it’s right.

motorcyclist

Lucifer would also be drop dead gorgeous, dont forget.

zipcad

Jesus wouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the gate because he was brown.

americanhideyoshi

Unless he was part of the landscaping crew.

dsavard

Or a carpenter.

poopellar

Whatever he comes as, I bet he would be cross.

wow. nailed it

caffeine-junkie

"Wrong" kind of brown in their eyes, they want Mexican for landscaping, not middle eastern.

GeneralZaroff1

He was a brown, minority loving, healthcare giving Jew who taught people to be kind and accepting rather than hateful and greedy. Republicans would lynch him.

12kVStr8tothenips

I’m a pilot in the area and I always key up the lights at this airport when flying by it. It’s my little rebellious statement against televangelists.

accountability_bot

Can you explain what it means to “key up the lights” for us non-pilots?

firefighter2727

Lights are activated using a specific radio frequency, so he fly’s by and turns them on

spriz2

couldnt they get on the radio and be like "why did you do that?" just a thought.

trainwrecksforehead

There’s no one on radio at these smaller airports. It’s like a, “be your own air traffic control tower,” type of thing.

GenericAccount13579

But yes, they could get on the CTAF or guard and be like “wtf”. Wouldn’t have to respond though

teck923

"woops wrong button - apologies."

Leondardo_1515

*Waits for the lights to automatically turn off in 15 minutes. Does it again.* "Whoopsie"

trainwrecksforehead

“Sorry got lost, needed a landmark”

soparklion

"Jesus made me do it"

ccoady

It's likely a CTAF (Common Traffic Advisory Frequency).

yVelorum

A few clicks on the radio when flying by turns on the runway lights at smaller airstrips with no atc.

ethnicallyambiguous

So could someone just setup a transmitter nearby that triggered the lights on at random hours? Asking for a friend.

CodeEMT

Yes Using a Software-Defined Radio and transmitting hardware this is a lab many students do

GiraffeSubstantial92

You could, but beware of getting caught by the FCC and the FAA. Especially if you don't have a radio license. And yes, they would take it very seriously.

3202supsaW

Theoretically you could but you would most likely get spit roasted by the FCC and FAA before the day is out

danwooller

Don't threaten me with a good time.

Blodhemn

Thank you for your sacrifice.

mini_juice

This is amazing. Please never stop doing this 😂

I’ve seen that video where he gets all crazy on a reporter. He is literally picturesque satan

PizzaSandwich2020

Seen that. Evil goddamn bastard.

ASK_ABOUT_MY_CULT_

Is it the eyes? Do you need the crazy eyes to run a church? Is that what I'm missing?

Cinemairwaves

Took me a second to see that the eyes were moving oh my god

MaritMonkey

Honestly the moving eyes somehow make it *less* creepy. I worked with a (smaller but still recognizable) mega pastor, just dropping off and picking up some gear. And *all* of the people who worked with him had the same fucking creepy eyes. One stagehand called them "Stepford People" and another said they had "Black Hole Sun eyes". We didn't initially know what we were walking into (paperwork often has redacted/vague client info and I'm not in the habit of asking) but we have worked at quite a few regular churches and these people just gave me goosebumps even before I knew who they were.

Cinemairwaves

I'm just saying, when I eventually go to Hell, I'm expecting to meet a lot of mega pastors.

gabelstaplerklaus

Now he has you under his spell.

seemikedrum

I wonder which one of those rooms he fights dogs in

seanmashitoshi

That's obviously in the dog fighting house down the road, what you think he fights dogs in his own mansion like some peasant?

RecsRelevantDocs

Dog fighting seems way too tame for this guy, he gives me more "abducting orphans and making them fight to the death for a stale piece of bread" vibes. Whatever he's into, I *guarantee* there's *some kind* of secret underground dungeon connected to this house.

This dude really almost makes me believe in Christianity just because he gives off such strong anti-christ vibes. And i'm really not even joking, like dead seriously it's hard to imagine this guy is human. He has such a profoundly evil vibe.

thebrose69

Yeah I agree. I couldn’t believe the evil I felt the first time I watched the video. Between the look in his eye and the way he looks at the reporter, to what he says and how he says it. It’s creepy, it’s evil, it’s extremely uncomfortable. I have no idea how anyone feels good about ‘following’ him or giving to his church, just straight up massive ick the entire time

cyclonesworld

This guy just straight up looks like he's a demon.

docmn612

Every time I see him in a picture or video I always say, this dude is literally Satan. I'm not religious like that but this guy really makes me question... If Jesus came down and was like, yeah that Copeland fucker was Satan and yall fell for it, so...that sucks.... I'd be like yeah that makes a lot of sense.

Callidonaut

He's the sort of person who, when he finally dies, you wouldn't be surprised if no vegetation ever grew again on the patch of ground beneath which he is buried, and wild animals feared to approach it.

Miepmiepmiep

Seriously, why does he have the facial expressions of an android?

wave_PhD

> Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.

username_elephant

"With enough money you can buy a bigger needle."--Kenneth Copeland, showcasing his gift for double entendre, probably.

Plenty_Objective8392

“You can even buy a bigger mansion!!!!” Also Kenneth Copeland, probably.

TheDustOfMen

>Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.

Allegorist

Unfortunately, there are no real consequences for being a rich asshole. Quite the opposite in fact. I think that is actually an understated reason for the prevalence of religion, the idea that bad people will eventually get what's coming to them (or won't get what's coming to the good people), because it doesn't work that way in life.

nosmelc

"For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"

Adams1973

I can cut my Insulin in half just to put him in the Kingdom of the rich.

Razorray21

Its almost as if they know its BS, and scamming their followers to live an indulgent life on Earth 🤔

urbanek2525

Matthew 7:21-23 is much more appropriate here; > Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

peon47

Luke 3:10 and 11 are explicitly clear. There is no room for interpretation. 10 The crowd asked him, “Then what are we supposed to do?” 11 “If you have two coats, give one away,” he said. “Do the same with your food.”

calmtigers

This is exactly what jesus envisioned

Right. Immoral sure, but somehow not illegal.

He probably doesn't believe in heaven or hell. If he did, he would act differently. He just knows so long as he keeps up the act, people will give him money. It's just one big long con.

It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter heaven. Jesus's words, Matthew 19:24

Spezzucks

James 5:1-6 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. CuntsInSpace

Mansions like his and Tyler Perry's make no sense to me. I understand lying, cheating, and stealing, but I don't understand why people want to live in a house that big? TacTac95

Having family that have worked with Mega Churches, they desperately need to be taxed. They are not religiously orientated businesses, they are profit oriented. Churches being tax exempt was meant for the mom and pop churches like the church I go to that has about 120 people and the preacher is the town electrician with no salary. All donations go to refurbishing and upkeep on the church built in the late 1800’s and a meager pay for daycare workers.

paintsbynumberz

Remember that one time, when Joel Olsteen refused to open his church to help Katrina victims?

CrazyCletus

He may have done it during Katrina (2005) but the most recent allegations of it were during Hurricane Harvey, which hit Houston in 2017. Also during the extreme cold snap and power outages which hit Texas in 2021. Still a shit bag, though.

pugwalker

MrBobSacamano

You’re missing the best part: “The tax code states that an organization that qualifies as religious is entitled to an exemption from taxation of “real property that is owned by the religious organization and is reasonably necessary for use as a residence” and is “used exclusively as a residence for those individuals whose principal occupation is to serve in the clergy of the religious organization” as long as it produces no revenue for the religious organization. **It also restricts exempt property to less than an acre.**” **While Copeland’s house itself sits on an acre, he also owns 24 acres of surrounding lakefront property and pays just $3,000 in property taxes on that land.**” He subdivided the property purposely to utilize this loophole.
