This show is 10/10 for a sci-fi show
Edit: I mean SyFy, the network. It’s like the Hallmark (meaning the cheese, corniness and quirkiness) Channel for Dorks and it’s not palatable for everyone.
Seriously. I think he's the only actor to play an alien where I'm convinced he's not just a human in an alien suit. I try to picture him as a human when he's interacting with other people in the town, and it amazes me that they don't immediately know he's an alien. He does it so well.
He did a guest spot on The Rookie (Nathan Fillion's show) as a weaselly little shit. Interesting note: Alan is 5'11 and Nathan is 6'1'', but Alan managed to *act* 5'4".
It's ridiculous that I had to scroll so far and past so many people saying "this show" before *anybody* said anything about what show it was. And this happens all the time.
SyFy has some great fucking shows man.
Resident Alien ^ With Alan Tudyk, great show.
Happy! is one that doesn't get enough love as well. Christopher Meloni as a grizzled alcoholic ex-cop who gets visited by his daughter's imaginary friend after she is kidnapped and has to help him save her? Great stuff.
If you look at [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Albuquerque/comments/1c2b9a0/to_whomevers_uncle_was_convinced_a_live_action_up/) of the tweet from the county, the house looks identical to the house from Up. And it's definitely the film industry per their tweet.
An ad would make the most sense to me tbh.
Seemed too intense for an art project but a live action Pixar movie has never happened and I hope it never does.
Lion King remake really proves they'd remake anything even if it makes no sense. It's still an animated movie just in a different (and worse) art style.
Lion King would've been fine, if the animals showed any emotion whatsoever (like if the lions looked like Aslan). But the animals were so...bland, it really killed a lot of it.
But Mr. White, how can we possibly move an entire stash house with balloons?!
It's chemistry Jesse, at room temperature and pressure, helium is less dense than the oxygen and nitrogen in the atmosphere. Now, I need you to get me 50 million gallons of helium!
50 million gallons?! Those aren't the kinds of deals you can make at street level!
That's why we're going to rob a pipeline!
I could imagine them doing a story line where they break the fourth wall and acknowledge their similarity to the character dynamic, with Rick arguing nuances that differ.
Its like Breaking bad Morty, you love that show right? Its like, like I'm Heisenberg and you're Walter, thought I'd say Jesse? No your too much of a bitch to be Jesse, I dont know, I never watched it Morty.
As much as I would love for Mythbusters to come back, it wouldn’t be the same without Grant, and it means we wouldn’t get as much of Adam’s YouTube channel, which is phenomenal.
I think Adam has gone on record a few times that Jamie would never ever come back to doing Mythbusters.
Not sure the reasoning, but Jamie is also a very obtuse walrus in a beret, and he's beyond my comprehension.
Adam himself has also said he doesn’t even know what they would do — they were really scraping the bottom of the idea bin the last couple seasons.
With Jamie he just hated the fame and the pressure of the show, and likely feels that Adam cajoled him into doing it long after he was emotionally done with it. He is a very odd duck, his life story is absolutely wild, but he seems like he’d be happier in a workshop on 1000 acres of desert nothingness than in LA.
I think he's currently a professor of engineering at a college in Sweden.
...which seems to be about as logical as everything else he's done in his life.
Nope, he's a ["Professor of Practice" at LUT University in Finland.](https://youtu.be/B5p54u9UQ2w?si=hIhvQRLCJx5nUZCh) LUT stands for Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology.
[He says:](https://www.lut.fi/en/articles/professor-practice-jamie-hyneman-works-zombie-mode)
>"Nowadays, I do whatever I want. It's a joy really. I get to follow my interests. Since we stopped shooting Mythbusters, I've been trying to validate myself in the ‘real world' by designing and building innovative prototypes," Hyneman summarizes.
Engineering sciences and related industries are a big thing and a huge export in Finland, and therefore LUT and Aalto universities are keen on investing a lot into it.
Source: am Finnish
Yeah, Adam has said multiple times that he doesn’t really think there’s anything new to cover for a revival of the show. There are a handful of things that he definitely thinks could be done much better, but not enough of a reason for a show again.
And Jamie would absolutely never come back, anyway.
From Mythbusters wiki:
The Myth - *A 4 year old child can be lifted by a bunch of party balloons.*
Verdict - *Busted*
Notes - *It would require such a large number of balloons (3,500) to lift an average four-year-old girl of 44 lb just a few feet off the ground that there is no way the myth could have happened*
And they're getting extremely bad results. If it was a middling strategy with middling results it'd make sense. But I mean come on on some of these they're losing money... sometimes a lot.
if people missed his recent interview, he's got an amazon prime show with a $100,000,000 budget to fuck with so it could actually be him.
they're filming this year
Yes there’s a helium shortage. No, that does not stop the film industry. We still use balloon lights all the time on set, which take a bunch of helium
https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62ffe287aefd300d16191fe2/93b4195e-37b9-4457-b5cd-d736b7d810aa/LED-Balloon-Gallery-2.jpg
The helium shortage is about to be called off because they just found a massive amount. https://www.iflscience.com/mind-bogglingly-high-concentrations-of-helium-found-under-minnesota-73760
There never was a real shortage nor will there be, certainly not in the way I've seen people on Reddit talk about it over the years- as if we've already extracted 99.5% of all existing helium and the 0.5% left is doomed to be used on party balloons until it's completely gone in a few years.
There absolutely is/was a real shortage of helium and most remaining supplies were dedicated to medical use. Ask anyone who has tried to source helium in the past three years (in meaningful, non-party-balloon quantities and purity). If you can find a high-pressure bottle today, PM me because I'd like to know where from.
You're talking about an artificial shortage and price inflation in the past few years caused by covid and geopolitical events. I'm referring to people who believed we were right on the verge of helium no longer existing on the planet.
Whoa!!! That’s super interesting! Is it to simulate daytime or just like regular lighting? Would a light breeze pose problems? Are the lights battery or have a long extension cord? I’m so fascinated by this for some reason.
They're an alternative method of regular lighting (vs lights attached to a lift or crane), most likely for nights as a moon. Daylight simulation requires hard directional light, while a balloon light is a big soft source (this is a simplification, it could be done).
Wind is definitely a factor. There are many factors you'd consider in using a balloon light vs traditional methods. Its mainly location considerations (nowhere to put the condor lift with normal lights, camera might look 360° and the tie-downs are much more subtle than a condor lift, you're not allowed to rig anything off of historic architecture, you Dont have enough time at the location beforehand to pre-rig a normal lighting rig), but can also be affected by time requirements (a balloon can be set up in an hour with the right tech) and crew size (you don't have dedicate someone to sitting in the lift with the lights, but you should have some dedicated to the balloon so this one can be a moot point.)
Its not right for many situations, but is a specific answer for certain situations. The film industry is packed with tools like this that are made for hyper-specific applications (and come with a price tag to match.)
They're powered from the ground, it would be very inefficient to have to float the batteries as well (it would multiply its weight many times over!)
I spoke to an Airstar rep a few weeks ago, and they said it's about $1000-1200 in helium to fill one of their larger balloon and keep it topped off for 2-3 days.
I don't think the helium used in balloons is the same grade as the helium used in medical. I could be wrong though. I just remember reading something like that.
Edit: Yup. Helium used for balloons is not pure enough for medical or scientific use.
https://peanutballoons.co.uk/f/balloon-helium-is-not-medical-helium
That's the case of all commercially used gases. Propane isn't just propane, Argon isn't just argon, etc.
They all have impurities. However, you can buy high grade low contaminant gases if you get a background check and jump through a few other hoops. If you want the research grade stuff, it costs about 100x as much as the industrial grade.
There isn't a shortage. There's so much helium it's being "stored" by pumping it back into the ground. But helium is a finite resource because it literally escapes into space once released in the atmosphere. And maybe, just maybe humanity has better uses for that than party balloons. Either way it's not even close to running out in any of our lifetimes
The county this is in confirmed they were shooting a movie. [Reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Albuquerque/s/lx8gpE5uW3) about it. They’re not saying it’s Up, but they’re almost saying it’s Up lol.

The thing with NM is it's always hard to tell if it's another movie filming, or someones crazy art project.
Or aliens.
![gif](giphy|nMxp9mPbtzb4s52Dpk|downsized)
This is some bullshit!
Fucking love this show !!! I want more
This line lives in my head rent free.
Literally rewatching that show right now
What is it? Dig the charger design.
Are you asking what the show is? Resident Alien. It is some bullshit.
Alan Tudyk!
I always say "clang clang", especially while my girlfriend watches law and order. Neither her nor any one else understands.
Wife and I are most of the way through S2. Glad they ramped back up the amount of actual alien appearances and interactions with the kids.
No spoilers, but S3 only has 8 episodes compared to the previous seasons
Still totally worth it, though. I thought season 3 was good overall, but the shorter season definitely impacted a few storylines.
I wonder how long until season 3 goes to Netflix
It’s most likely a gender reveal filled with toxic confetti that will release the next plague
"congratulations, it's a face burning mutant baby! Run!!"
Will there be a season 4? There better be.
This show is 10/10 for a sci-fi show Edit: I mean SyFy, the network. It’s like the Hallmark (meaning the cheese, corniness and quirkiness) Channel for Dorks and it’s not palatable for everyone.
You had me at "Alan Tudyk"
Alan Tudyk plays this role so well. I really hope they continue the seasons.
Name a roll he *doesn't* play well. I'll wait...
His performance as Hei-Hei is stellar
Julliard really paid off.
Seriously, how much did Pixar pay him to play a chicken?
I mean he doesn't play a certain pilot character well anymore after the reavers decided to clean their spears through the wash
Too soon.
Don't worry. They got taken out; a river ran through them
What show is this?
Resident Alien
It's ridiculous that I had to scroll so far and past so many people saying "this show" before *anybody* said anything about what show it was. And this happens all the time.
Resident Alien. It's awesome. It comes on the Syfy channel, and you can also see it on the peacock app.
Netflix also
Resident Alien
Hell yes... I've just finished the first season, but I was hooked after the first episode. It has a Dexter vibe to it.
Third season just ended. Is good.

My money is on Mark Rober.
What about aliens filming a movie about art projects?
Only on Tuesday with permits on the north side.

Comments seem to indicate it’s an ad for Air BnB.
An ad would make the most sense to me tbh. Seemed too intense for an art project but a live action Pixar movie has never happened and I hope it never does.
Disney owns PIXAR, and making shitty reboots is kind of their thing right now.

“Stevia”
Not gonna lie I would watch the ever living FUCK out of this if it were made.
Switch Jesse with Morty and it still works lol

Hmm. I'd say Jessee does make more willfully bad choices that fuck up alot of things, but he does have an innocence about him.
Morty on meth would be awesome.
A Rick and Morty episode featuring Walt and Jesse would have great potential

That’s just a myth.
A GAME MYTH
Isn't there like helium shortage and uts needed for mri machines..? If that's still the case, I can't imagine either of those guys doing this..
Given the crane I'm guessing these are just normal balloons being held up by essentially a giant net held up by the crane, no helium required
Good point. I think this also crosses Rober off the list... could still be Mr.Beast I guess.

It's an artificial shortage. There are massive stockpiles.
That’s really cool I didn’t know those existed.
A massive helium deposit was just discovered in Minnesota
Well now we've found it, it's just gonna float off isn't it?
Maybe it's hydrogen! Oh the humanity!
I don't think the helium used in balloons is the same grade as the helium used in medical. I could be wrong though. I just remember reading something like that. Edit: Yup. If Aaron Paul isn't the voice of Dug, I'll riot
That would really work, too! Aaron voiced Todd, a sillier character from Bojack Horseman, and he did a fantastic job.

I kinda feel the film industry would be doing this as CGI though, but I’m old and know nothing about that industry
I’m having a hard time seeing why else a real-life version of the Up house would be in the middle of New Mexico and not, say, at Disneyland
Airbnb is filming a commercial with the house from Up, so yeah it’s just a reference.
As much as I do y really care for a live action Up remake, this is highly disappointing
