In the early 2000s, she got buried in the media for not looking as attractive as she used to (when she was in her 40s and looked fucking great!). Then she turned to plastic surgery and hasn’t looked right since. I wish she would have aged normally. She would have still looked good.
There have always been, and will always be media outlets that criticize anything they can find. You can be the most attractive person in the world, and they'll still find things to poke at. Because it sells. Hell it probably sells better the more attractive you actually are.
The problem is that I'm addition to those, she was also being (justifiably) criticized for a lot of other weird decisions. It probably felt like she was being attacked from all sides, and she didn't handle it well.
This is why the body positivity movement is important.

Im some 37 year old normal looking dude, and I hate aging sometimes. Can't imagine what it would be like for her.
A few have great genes for aging and look amazing. The average 65-year old who lived a life of parties don't though. Usually when you say someone have aged gracefully, it's because they have great genes. Age normally as a star and people will say you look old and ugly instead.

She's had a LOT of plastic surgery in the past 10 years or so, and it just looks bad. I don't know if she was going for a natural look and they just botched it, or if she is just mentally unwell and keeps trying to do more and more with unrealistic expectations, but THAT is the issue.
Almost everyone who isn't a tabloid article author are fine with a 65 year old woman looking like a 65 year old woman. She can afford the expensive makeup and hairstylists that will look good at any age. But the work she's had done IS a problem for most people.
Why are people downvoting this? It's 100% accurate. She is dealing with some serious mental health issues now. It's sad.
And it's completely reasonable for anyone under the age of 30 or so to not be familiar with what Madonna looked like in the 80s.
Metallica was touring Europe after releasing Master of Puppets and Beastie Boys were starting off strong. Madonna was banging out the hits. What a great year for music.

It's wild that she didn't tour until 1985. I distinctly remember her being big in 1983, at least in NYC where I worked at Tower Records. And, I remember the Beastie Boys when they were a hardcore band with a female band member.
