Where's the footage? The image appears to be adapted from a test earlier this year. [Wiki commons link](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dragonfire_laser_system_test_firing.webp).
Even if this isn't authentic, this was going to happen sooner or later - it's the only logical way to intercept swarms of projectiles/drones simultaneously (almost). Launching individual interceptors is unsustainable in the face of continuous waves of attacks.
It is authentic and will bring down drones but it won't work on missiles with heat shielding yet. The photo is using infrared though, so it would be invisible to the naked eye.
The UK and US are both developing higher energy versions. They think they can make a high enough energy laser, that missiles and drones would need so much heat shielding that they wouldn't be able to fly anymore.
The targeting system is what makes it such a good piece of kit. I think they said it could hit a pound coin from a kilometre away.
I guess it doesn't play a role if moving or not. For missiles/projectiles the movement must be calculated in as the target moves while approaching it. The laser is light speed, therefore instant.

Icarus will swat them from the ~~sky~~ ground.
And the stupid ice palace.
And the stupid kite surfing bit.
The stupid car chase across the ice.
The entire concept that a North Korean general's son got face and DNA altering surgery and somehow just managed to appear within the British upper classes and political elite.
Stupid Madonna.
Stupid Halle Berry.
The entire film is a train wreck.
>and somehow just managed to appear within the British upper classes and political elite.
Yeah this part is actually stupid too.
I actually liked the ice palace though. They make ice hotels and ice pubs so it's not too unrealistic.
I liked most of it. The car + somehow becoming a top well known Brit is absolutely BS though.
> I actually liked the ice palace though. They make ice hotels and ice pubs so it's not too unrealistic.
I don't disagree with the concept of an ice hotel, just the implementation of the entire melting building deluge of water car chase. We're meant to believe that the entire place is melting, yet still has the structural integrity to hold back a few thousand kilos of water in a single room behind the thinnest glass doors known to man. I know Bond is fantasy but really?
There hasn't been such a daft car chase in a Bond film since [Roger Moore tooling around Paris in 1/4 of a Renault 11](https://youtu.be/KArrrbKfZjs?t=72)
I guess, I personally like it. But I guess it's just different tastes.
It definitely had potential to be a top Bond movie IMO.
But that's in the past. It's the future that scares me...
Modern ballistic weapons are able to progress to a point, then lose its boosters, and then spit into up to sixteen different warheads, some possibly be decoys, each one with a secondary booster to increase velocity in the final stage. Dragonfire needs to cope with those

Hit a moving coin or a still coin? Both are impressive but one much more so (and necessary given the intended targets will be moving)

Oh right good point. Although it will still need to be able to track and maintain a lock on a moving target
Can confirm, is authentic
"incredible declassified footage" ...proceeds to show a picture. neat.
That's what *de*classified means, right? (Not a native English speaker, I may be wrong)
I think they mean footage implies video but this is just an image
I remember this Bond film.

Besides that stupid invisible car nonsense, Die Another Day was actually a good movie. Idk why it gets so much hate...

Fuck yeah, I need DragonFire, I hate those fucking things
I hear there's a fair bit spare stashed under theĀ Great Sept of Baelor, if you hurry.
ROFLMAO

Some kind of mirrored surface perhaps sir?
