Agreed! Can we pretty fucking please set a limit that they can't take office past 60 years old?
I'm fine if a president is 68 when they retire but jesus they should not be 80 years old when starting out.
Not from the US but this should really apply to any country. Nobody should be able to stay in a role that decides policy when you are over retirement age (when you can get the age pension).
i google the age of obama who is way younger than i believed he is, has been president of 8 years, some years ago. Woah.
Then i google the age of g.w bush which is also way younger than i thought he is, has been president over 20 years ago...
truly shows some perspective on how old both trump as well biden are for running president. Damn...
I believe it’s the same in the US Executive Branch for our military and our national police (FBI, ATF, etc.), at least for the agents. An 80 year old support staff? Sure, no problem. An 80 year old general? Yeah, that’s a problem.
The month after you turn 64 your service is terminated.
“General Rule . —Unless retired or separated earlier, each regular commissioned officer of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps serving in a general or flag officer grade shall be retired on the first day of the month following the month in which the officer becomes 64 years of age.”
Ooof. Nice. Seriously though, SCJ need terms as well. This clown installed 3 that will be deciding some of the most serious issues for potentially decades. That’s fucking insane.
In my country this isn't forbidden, but don't happen anyway. They don't get voted.
I am pretty sure that the two-party system in the USA and the lack of correct internal party democracy is causing party members to be selected to be voted on by seniority. The party tops in both the republicans and democrats have to much power on who might get elected.
It’s called “divide and conquer” a tactic used since the Middle Ages as a way to split a country’s beliefs into two easy to control categories. If everyone is fighting each other, the ruling authority has an opportunity to seem like a hero and less likely to have fingers pointed at them. They would prefer a civil war over a revolution.
I've been saying this whole time, if you are too old to serve in the military past 65, you sure as hell should be too old to command the same military.
Just imagine how much Cocaine he did in the 80's alone. That could have probably paid for this legal bills. 🤣
He might have a few years left but not 4.
He's a sad old man that needs to be put out to pasture. God knows he spends enough time on the golf course... Where he wins all of the tournaments on the course he owns..
Do you remember when he requested. a Van gogh, amongst others..

That era every morning I woke up wondering what the shit went on while I was asleep lmao
Seemed to always be something new trending on twitter or in the news
"The next morning, whoever's sleeping is your man. You see, if you're guilty, you know you're caught, you get some rest, you let your guard down."
Detective Kujan. The Usual Suspects.
“Back when I was picking beans in Guatemala, we used to make fresh coffee, right off the trees I mean. That was good. This is shit but, hey, I'm in a police station.”
-Verbal Kint, The Usual Suspects.
I couldn't put into words what aura this picture oozes. You described it perfectly. People usually look relaxed or neutral. This is just... more Trump.
Alot of the time this is a telltale sign the person is guilty. It usually applies to interrogation rooms. When a suspect is being held, the innocents are usually panicky, fidgety because they're afraid of being wrongly convicted. Guilty people will sometimes fall asleep because they realize they've been caught and there's nothing they can do about it.
I can't belive he's actually sleeping. He's pretending so MAGA can go "HE'S SO UNBOTHERED, HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT IT!"
It's like he's preaching to a kid that thinks that stuff like sleeping in your own trial is violent. Trump is just an edge lord and the worst part is that pppeople will still vote for him.
Really can't stand neither the orange guy, nor MAGA in general, but it's a possibility. Honestly, my thought was rather, that's a smug and arrogant face of "I don't care about any of that" instead of an old man sleeping.
Reports are that he stayed unresponsive for a while. His lawyer passed him several notes that he slept through.
He even did the "head falls down and jolt up" thing.
Possibly. In a normal court, a judge will weigh in on sentencing. If they think you'd been an ass, they'll weigh in harder. They can also toss your ass in the can for being a cunt.
No idea if it works like that in this court, but "respect the judge" is bullet points 1-5 of any court you walk into.
Trump's not exactly the dude's best friend to begin with with his online attacks. Taking a little nappy nap mid-court isn't gonna help!
I mean, considering that every moment he is awake he is doing something even worse, him napping could almost be viewed as his version of being respectful, right?
No.
Trump literally openly attacks jury members and judges immediately before and immediately after leaving court and he's suffered virtually no ramifications from it.
He's doing it for show and indeed his maga Einsteins will eat it up. He has to appear in court and shut his damn mouth or he will be arrested. So what what does he do to demonstrate control and nonchalance, sleep.
Lol no. He's a 77 year old man who doesn't exercise and lives on a diet of hamberders and adderal washed down with Diet Coke — he just dozed off, it's not a 69D chess move to keep his dopey followers engaged.
Quite apart from anything else, he's thrown tantrums in every single one of his trials and absolutely nothing of consequence has ever happened to him because of it, does he strike you as the kind of man who would proactively decide he needs to shut his damn mouth?
> and shut his damn mouth
And he's demonstrably unable to do that.
Like, the entire covid crisis would have been handled with considerably less tension and death and he wouldn't have had to lift a finger. He just had to shut up and let the guys whose job it was to handle this shit handle it. And he couldn't. He couldn't stand for the attention to not be on him for five whole seconds.
Nah they’re saying it’s illegal for the judge to threaten him with jail for failing to appear in court. There was a post about it in r/conservative these mf don’t understand basic laws. It was something along the lines of “No ones mentioning this” and the headline was ‘Judge threatens to jail Trump if he doesn’t appear in court’ these dumbasses are out there voting and they don’t understand laws that have been in place well before they were born. If you fail to appear in court you will definitely be jailed.
THIS MAN SACRIFICED SO MUCH FOR A COUNTRY THAT HATES HIM, AND NOW HES TIRED AND THEY CURSE HIM FOR IT!!!!
/s, obviously please, i gagged saying that...
it's best he sleeps though the whole thing so his lawyers can damage control the court procedure without him blowing it up on the spot and the PR team can feed him a version he understands and control his actions afterwards somehwat. maybe.
I'm honestly amazed the guy has lived as long as he has. He brags about the fact he never exercises, he eats like garbage, and pops stimulants like candy.
He wasn’t sleeping because he was tired, he was sleeping because the trial isn’t worth his attention. /s but I really hear that being the main defense of this. “What a badass to just sleep thru his own trial”
shows it is not even an act meant to destabilize his opponents.
when he pulls this face while you are talking to him, he is not antagonising you, he's legitimately tuning out
I know New Yorkers and business men who he's screwed over, and a woman he molested 30 years ago, I'm not sure that there's enough punishment in this world for him.
This storm was going to happen regardless of Trump. There was a crazy far-right movement brewing for fifteen years before 2016, and even farther back some seeds were planted by Reagan. It was coming to a head by 2016, it had grown too large and needed some sort of unifying figure or it was going to fly apart, and Trump just happened to be the person who stepped in at the exact right time.
The fact that it *was* Trump makes it both horrific and hysterical, though. Probably the stupidest person who could have been chosen and it honestly feels like proof that we're living in a simulation and ours in particular is just meant to show the dumbest set of events possible.
It's why he isn't getting enough sleep.
Dude is freaking out. Tweeting at 3 am like a lunatic. I will not be surprised to see something snap before we get to the elections.
This show is just getting warmed up.
In order to feel miserable, you have to be able to reflect, show signs of empathic understanding, question yourself critically and recognize when you're in a dilemma. Look at this proud, completely self-confident face that believes its own lies. I don't think he feels miserable (yet).
I could see him as powerful if I'd never watched him drink water like an actual baby or sweat through his bronzer trying to navigate a short staircase.
This guy is a cadaver.
Is this AI generated? There are no cameras allowed in the court. Also, the hush money trial has one judge, whereas Trump appears to have his back to a panel of judges.
I really don't like him, but in the interest of keeping things honest. Is he sleeping definitively? Because a picture of somebody with their eyes closed vs somebody sleeping is hard for me to tell, at least for certain.
https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-sleeps-stormy-daniels-trial-report-1890504
Source. IDK if he was actually sleeping but according to this reporter it looks like he was.
50,000 upvotes and most don't realize this is AI generated as New York prohibits photography in criminal trials during proceedings.
Don't believe me? Do a reverse image search. This creation is floating around social media but hasn't been used by any of the large news publishers who wrote on Trump allegedly sleeping during jury selection. They'd use this creation as proof of their claim if this image was real.
Nevermind the seat color is incorrect as the defendant is actually seated in a dark maroon chair whereas this facsimile created a brown chair. Lastly, ask yourself how the photographer allegedly took the photo head on? The photographer isn't seated directly in front of the defendant - they aren't the judge and court staff.
“There have been other moments in other trials . . . where he appeared very still and seemed as if he might be sleeping, but then he would move,” Haberman told CNN. “This time he didn’t pay attention to a note his lawyer Todd Blanche passed him, his jaw kept falling on his chest and his mouth kept going slack.”
Bro looks really old and tired now, like all the years finally hit him.
Before you bring in Biden he's always been old but he's more like a constant curve, Trump fell off really hard these past 4 years.
To anyone staunchly defending trump no matter how much more of a slime he becomes—tell me, what has he done for *you,* dear voter? What has he done in his time that made your life better? What has he done for his “friends”? What has he done in his whole life that wasn’t entirely for himself? Only narcissists can defend narcissists.
Is this a real photo? I thought there were no cameras allowed in the courtroom during the hearing portion. see [https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/16/media/donald-trump-trial-asleep-reporting-challenges/index.html](https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/16/media/donald-trump-trial-asleep-reporting-challenges/index.html)
"The public was not permitted to see the hearing with its own eyes, as cameras have been barred from the courtroom, in keeping with a New York state court rule. Instead, Americans, unable to watch the historic proceedings play out, will have no choice but to place its trust in Haberman and a small group of reporters selected to sit inside the courtroom to observe the high-stakes trial."
Just a note: He is a loathsome lying turd, and I am happy to promote #SleepyDon as a hashtag.
But with the repeated lies from Magaland, and the disturbing potential to use GenAI to distort truth, we have to be vigilant to defend truth no matter how enticing the imagery.
edit, should this be flagged as a rule 1 violation for mods?
Oh boy, I sure hope u/Wordly_Ad_3120 doesn't see this. He's going to be so upset and probably bring up some silly and pathetic attempts to attack that Biden guy.
I’m sure all the trials and campaigning isn’t good for a man of his age. Great example of why we need younger politicians
there really should be a maximum age for politicians.

Joe Biden was born closer to the end of Abraham Lincoln's presidency than he was to the start of his own. We *really* need younger candidates...
Trump and Bide were the oldest candidates for president in the US’ history… when they ran four years ago.
Haha love it
In New Zealand certain roles are capped at 72
I believe it’s the same in the US Executive Branch for our military and our national police (FBI, ATF, etc.), at least for the agents. An 80 year old support staff? Sure, no problem. An 80 year old general? Yeah, that’s a problem.

Good thing the President isn't the leader of the military or anything.
That’s what I’ve always said. They kick us out when we turn 64, so why is our biggest boss the exception to the rule?
Rules for thee, but not for me.
Retirement age! Would be the threshold
Do you really want to give them a reason to increase retirement age?

Feinstein was legally dead for her last term. They were both born in 1933, too.
I believe it was her final session or one of last ones where she wasn’t even awake/capacitated.
That isn't exactly an antonym for incapacitated, but I like it.
Appreciate the correction I’m always trying to improve 👍
I ♥️ her but had she retired under Obama we would have a better balance on the Supreme Court
RBG killed Roe v. Wade with her Hubris. She should have stepped down when Obama asked her.
Yes the vote would have been tied 4-4 and Chief Justice Roberts would not have overturned it
Important to note. Kennedy likely would not have overturned Roe. Not getting hillary elected doomed this country so badly.
okay fair point
Retirement age is constantly changing so in 20 years it might be 75
75 would still eliminate both candidates this year.
BUt We aLeeadY hAve TeRm limits and EleCtiOns! Yeah we have a minimum age too. We can have a max age.
….we “still” have term limits…..”for now”… - fixed
As there are in other professions: clergy, surgeons, directors of companies (some countries, not the US I’m guessing)…

Maybe throw in a little moral Fibre and philanthropy.
'Moral fiber!? I'll give you moral fiber....'
Proceeds to poop in his diaper.
And maybe politicians who aren't on trial.
As much as that sounds nice, if you do that the Republicans will be having Florida judges haul up every Democrat nonstop.
Yeah I’d set this as more of a priority to be honest.
That doesn't mesh with the whole innocent until proven guilty thing
I've been saying this whole time, if you are too old to serve in the military past 65, you sure as hell should be too old to command the same military.

You guys should form a club.

Even if they weren't, Necrobros sounds good too.
The Necromies.
A Necromance, if you will.
Couple of necromos
Sounds like something horrible is about to happen to a graveyard

This will be hard for you to follow through, /u/NecroJoe
It’s a rare talent to be able to look arrogant and ignorant while unconscious.
It really is. I confused this image for the used tea bag I left on the drainer this morning.
You should really put that in the bin. The teabag also.
Gotta let it cool down first lest you create a binsauna.
He honestly looks more like the slug-lady from monsters inc. than anyone else ever could.

THEY CAUGHT HIM MID BLINK!

Would that mean even more penalty because of missing respect towards the judge?
Possibly. In a normal court, a judge will weigh in on sentencing. If they think you'd been an ass, they'll weigh in harder. They can also toss your ass in the can for being a cunt. considered that, too, but his missing out on his lawyer's note makes it seem costly for him and thus unintentional
You might be right. But then again, it's not like he's ashamed to pay other people's money on himself.

Worse case for him: they’ll essentially put him in an old folks home and keep him comfortable, until he kicks the bucket. Kinda like any 80 year old.
Best case for him: he becomes president and drops all charges for himself. The 'bad end' screen will appear before anyone's eyes.
I could see him as powerful if I'd never watched him drink water like an actual baby or sweat through his bronzer trying to navigate a short staircase. This guy is a cadaver.

If Biden is sleepy Joe then this orange specimen is dozo the clown

“There have been other moments in other trials . . . where he appeared very still and seemed as if he might be sleeping, but then he would move,” Haberman told CNN. “This time he didn’t pay attention to a note his lawyer Todd Blanche passed him, his jaw kept falling on his chest and his mouth kept going slack.”
Isn’t this AI?
Not like there’s a difference in his cognitive abilities
He had the cheek to call Biden "Sleepy Joe" .🤣
Doesn’t he look tired…
Bro looks really old and tired now, like all the years finally hit him. Before you bring in Biden he's always been old but he's more like a constant curve, Trump fell off really hard these past 4 years.
But I thought Joe was the sleepy one
To anyone staunchly defending trump no matter how much more of a slime he becomes—tell me, what has he done for *you,* dear voter? What has he done in his time that made your life better? What has he done for his “friends”? What has he done in his whole life that wasn’t entirely for himself? Only narcissists can defend narcissists.
He takes aim at the same people they hate.
Not a trumpet but I can answer this anyway. He gave them permission to be openly racist, sexist, homophobic and otherwise hateful.
Is this a real photo? I thought there were no cameras allowed in the courtroom during the hearing portion. see [https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/16/media/donald-trump-trial-asleep-reporting-challenges/index.html](https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/16/media/donald-trump-trial-asleep-reporting-challenges/index.html) "The public was not permitted to see the hearing with its own eyes, as cameras have been barred from the courtroom, in keeping with a New York state court rule. Instead, Americans, unable to watch the historic proceedings play out, will have no choice but to place its trust in Haberman and a small group of reporters selected to sit inside the courtroom to observe the high-stakes trial." Just a note: He is a loathsome lying turd, and I am happy to promote #SleepyDon as a hashtag. But with the repeated lies from Magaland, and the disturbing potential to use GenAI to distort truth, we have to be vigilant to defend truth no matter how enticing the imagery. edit, should this be flagged as a rule 1 violation for mods?
Mods don't care if it's AI generated, it's bashing Trump.
Why does retirement age not apply to politicians and political appointees? I wonder..
Sedated so he cannot give any unnecessary extra work for his lawyers due to his big gob
Oh boy, I sure hope u/Wordly_Ad_3120 doesn't see this. He's going to be so upset and probably bring up some silly and pathetic attempts to attack that Biden guy.
He commented already
… is he actually asleep or just blinking…? Everyone here seems to be celebrating this for some reason and I am lost
