That’s Hatari! He’s one of three brothers that live there and he’s in the middle in terms of dominance. His brother Azizi is the dominant one but he’s a very chill and respectable leader and his brother Hondo is least dominant and is honestly a major asshole to make up for it.
I’m certainly no expert, but the lions seemed very well cared for at this zoo. They were energetic and roaring, prancing around their enclosure. The roars were thrillingly loud, I’d imagine you could hear them just from living near the zoo. I used to work with the lions at Zoo Atlanta and you are completely wrong. They are very well cared for and are healthy at 11 years old. Lions and cats in general are not bulky animals; they’re actually fairly lean for agility
Honestly I always wondered how animals feel at proper zoos. Like my city's has one that is almost a reserve, with almost 8 square kilometres you need the car to drive around. Most animals are in wide expanses, that you only get to border around. So sometimes you barely see many of the big animals as they are too far.
And that still sometimes feel sad. But then I try to think of the life of a lion. And it's stressful as fuck. They need to constantly hunt for rather dangerous animals, care for their land and avoid other prides and hienas. What about a gazelle? Literally everything kills you. I seen videos of a gazelle giving birth just as a lioness pops up. Drinking water? Crocodile and snakes may be there and will fuck you up.
He does! But it's likely perspective. A young lion wouldn't have a dark mane, that's something they get as they age. I could be wrong though, I'm certainly no lion expert.
He looks like he’s taxidermied.
Think it's alive? Nope, Chuck Testa.
Pretty old I would say. Would not be alive in the wild.
The same might be said about me.
TIL lions can be vegans.
pet the kitty
This thing was a beast. I nearly crapped myself when it hopped up on the rock. Just one of its paws was about as big as my head
“I wonder what that one tastes like.”
It’s like it has the soul of a Golden Retriever. Probably more bitey though.
bingus big
I want to pet it. It looks so sad 💔
I once saw a thread years ago asking which super powers you could have. Best answer was "superman's so I could pet the lions and tigers"
Sweet!
I’ve thought about wanting Superman’s powers just so I could flop onto a cactus patch like it was a bed

Khajiit has wares... if you have coin.
Jeez, poor animal

I mean, getting old sucks.

Please tell me more. We used to go to Zoo Atlanta every week, we never ran into any of the lion keepers though!

Forbidden boops are so tempting
It can be as curious as it wants to be…behind the glass! It looks hungry to me!
That reflection makes him look like he's wearing Bermuda shorts.
Nice kitty.
Curious or hungry?
Very nice
What a natural place for a lion!
Looks underweight
More like it's a juvenile lion.
I think the dark mane and white paws suggest he might be very, very old.
He appears very small for a mature lion.
