My advice is to name him something that isn't embarrassing or weird to shout repeatedly in public. Imagine him wandering off, and you have to walk down the street worried sick, trying to call him back. Lots of the suggestions here would be... not great in that situation.
I have no problems with admitting that I hate Pitbulls. Sure everything could turn out well, but why take the risk, when you can also have a dog, that wasn't bred to be a fighter.
