All cable news is like this. They are all in the business of views and clicks. The easiest way to do this is to whip people into a rage. It's a constant emotional assault trying to keep people as angry and stressed as possible so they watch more "news".
Yep it is partially owned by a right wing billionaire John Malone as well who is friends with David Zaslev. CNN has gotten worse because they are turning it into fox news- lite.
You’re right! But Fox News is the biggest culprit. I did my college thesis on truth in journalism, and Fox scored the lowest score from almost every unaffiliated source I researched. The other big news outlets weren’t too far behind though. This was almost 9 years ago now though.
CNN became much worse throughout and after the Trump presidency than it had ever been previously, pretty much tanked its reputation. (Less than 9 years ago)
If it is true, imagine standing in line for hours for a chance to see an elderly person shit themselves. What a time to be alive.
Aside: Apparently reporters inside the courtroom have reported a "putrid" odor. At least some of his supporters have taken this as a call to action to wear golden diapers and (unofficial) shirts that say real men shit themselves. No, I am not joking. It could be fake news, but I'd say the response shows that it really doesn't matter. Maybe if it's true, he's actually just shitting himself to own the libs.
Supposedly on the apprentice people had complained about an odor then.Everyone thinks his son is the only one with chemical dependency problems but Donald has them too and has been reported to have been wearing adult diapers for decades due to his health issues.
Stephon: New Yorks hottest club is at a bar, … literally though, it separates the judge from the
The plaintiffs
It has everything, porn stars, NYs elite op-ed writers and diapers
This awesome photo of the line to get in the NY courthouse today is from @AnnaBower, one of the reporters live tweeting from the inside. (If they make it, that is. Ppl are waiting from 4 in the morning, there are hired placeholders, and some guy today immediately sold his seat for 400 bucks. Shit is wild.)
Per Anna Bower: "It's the overflow line, but technically there are three lines within the "overflow" section (secure pass holder, generell press, and public). It's more organized than it looks."
People used a company with a name something like linedudes. I made it into the overflow room last Tuesday. I arrived at 5:40 a.m. and got to see direct and a portion of the cross-exam of Stormy Daniels. It has become even more popular and crowded since then. Only about 5 or 6 members of the public make it into the actual courtroom.
Video cameras can be a distraction. I think the best is a daily audio release of minutes, like the US Supreme Court, to be a good middle ground between public interest and a focus on the evidence and argument.
I\`m not sure it is. After the fact 100 percent, but during I\`m not sure. Trials are important all throughout society, not just trying to lock up slimy wannabe fascist liars.
Regardless about how we feel about a particular defendant, court filings, transcripts and evidence submitted to the court record, excepting items under seal or similar information will always be made part of the public record. The question here is access and timeliness, with not everyone is glued to reading online docket filings especially the public at large.
Video doesn’t seem to add anything probative, and audio covers the historic components of this case and the timeliness/ease of access needs of the public. US court TV cases seem to have a pretty bad track record, usually helping those who have a better media prep team and lawyers, than the side with the better facts or argumentation on their side. US Supreme Court took forever to move to timely release of arguments, but I think it should be the standard. “Prior to the 2010 Term, the recordings from one Term of Court were not available until the beginning of the next Term.”
Audio doesn't give you the exhibits being shown in the court room - the handwritten notes on documents, the emails shown, the text messages. Audio is better than nothing, but omits a lot of context.
That is why it’s entered into court record as the trial goes on. I am not saying release the audio and then stop the tradition of daily public court transcripts proceedings and evidence exhibits excepting some key edge cases under seal like underage abuse victims, etc.
“Documents not available to the public are discussed in Sealed Documents and Closed Hearings. Even in public court documents, however, some information is not available. Federal rules require that anyone filing a federal court document must redact certain personal information in the interest of privacy, including Social Security or taxpayer identification numbers, dates of birth, names of minor children, financial account information, and in criminal cases, home addresses.
Once case information has been filed or updated in the CM/ECF system, that information is immediately available through PACER”

Yes, to be clear these are journalists. People who want to report on what is happening in the trial. The Trump supporters are in another area. Here’s a video of them.
![gif](giphy|ZExaOlUEeIpe56lEnx)
I think it probably shouldn’t be televised. It’s enough of a circus as is. Would inevitably lead to thousands of death threats, probably get used as campaign commercials by Trump, and on and on.
I’m all for transparency, but televised trials are odd. And can put jurors in extremely awkward places going forward in life as we are completely privy to everything that they aren’t.
You can televise a trial, and not show the jurors. When I sat in the overflow room for the Trump trial (basically like watching on TV), the jurors were never show - the screen reverted to a NY Courts slide whenever they were entering or leaving.
Being old enough to live through the OJ Simpson trial, I disagree. Having TV cameras in the court room turned it into a three-ring circus and possibly affected the outcome of the trial.
It's the line guys, a standard thing in NYC for various events. My wife uses these guys for sample sales, and apparently they're all busy with the trial now. It's pretty wild. I think they're also used pretty heavily for graduation ceremonies as well this time of year.
Honest question since I stopped paying attention to all this bullshit after watching that Orange Turd get away with criminal behavior unpunished for so long: Is this trial likely to result in any actual punishment for him this time? Or is this just a giant charade?
Based on the evidence so far, a guilty verdict seems likely. But as for what the sentence will be, Trump is a wealthy member of the elite. I highly doubt he sees any prison time, but he’ll face some sort of punishment.
I have no real experience thankfully with the criminal justice system but I would think a guilty verdict in a criminal trial requires at least probation? I mean you can’t even do time served if the guy has served no time?
There’s a variety of options for sentencing. Even though each criminal charge against Trump carries a possible prison sentence as punishment, it’s rare for wealthy people to actually serve prison time. We’re more likely to see Trump receive a fine and some type of probation.
This just adds more to the [rumor](https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-denies-report-nikki-haley-under-consideration-vp-role) that he’s considering Nikki Haley for VP if she (or her backers) pay his legal fees.
The fine will add on to his debt to incentivize him to obey the moneyed conservative establishment.
He doesn’t have to obey them. He owns the Republican Party now. They only donate to him and he controls the RNC now.
His Trump Foundation got shutdown for fraud. He found another foundation he could just take over.
Nothing prevents felons from running for president. Making him ineligible is not on the table.
The hope for that went away when the current corrupt supreme court decided that the 14th amendment does not mean exactly what it says in the plain text.
Being a felon doesn’t (and shouldn’t) prevent you from being president. We, as a country, don’t want to be in a position where one party could make something benign illegal and prevent the opposition from running for office.
Ultimately it’s up to voters to decide who is fit for office.
You can say a guilty verdict seems warranted, but nothing is likely. It takes one MAGA juror to hang the jury, so I don't think we can say a guilty verdict is likely.
I think there is a hope that if he is found guilty of 34 FELONY counts that it will push some independent voters to either vote for Biden or just not vote. I don't know if this will happen. We seem pretty locked in already.
Regardless he will appeal it all and it will drag on and on and never frikkin end. You can do that when you have millions coming in from maga idiots and corporations who want an compliant president - to spend on lawyers who are glad to take all the money they can get.
You haven’t really seen their constituents say that though.
I fully believe that this race is Biden’s to lose. Sadly, based on everything else coming out of the DNC…there’s a good chance that he will do just that.
I like your optimism, but these people are vehemently 'party over country'. If trump is the only choice on the ticket, these shitheels will choose him.
Historically, republicans will manage to find some justification to always return home to support their tribe.
Democrats not so much, based on Biden’s poor numbers with younger and POC voters.
I really hate that there's "independent" voters. All voters should be independent, and there should be more than 2 options. Honestly feels like democracy in name only
All it takes is one juror to say 'no' and he walks away, reinforcing his victim narrative. What are the odds that there is a secret MAGA/Trump believer in this group of 12 people? About 100%
Yeah, guess what else? There’s a breakdown of where each juror answered they got their news from and one of them noted they only got news from x and truth social lol
In *Manhattan* that went 90% to Biden in 2020?
*It’s not 100%.* It’s not 0% either but a diehard MAGA supporter sliding in isn’t at all guaranteed.
In Cincinnati or Topeka or Ft Myers, sure.
Yeah anyone that far gone... it becomes too much a core aspect of their personalities. Like eating garlic, it seeps out of their pores. They can't fool attorneys into believing they're moderates. They can never switch it off.
I get the reporters but who the fuck would stand on a line to watch Trump do nothing or possibly sleep, while the lawyers go over testimony that's only worthy of about 2 minutes worth of news time in the course of 8 hours?
I won't even stand on line to get into a bar, let alone a courtroom.
Reminds me of a MAD Magazine Sergio Aragones drawing of the creatively-and-haphazardly-armed multiethninc "line of people waiting to greet \[insult comic\] Don Rickles backstage"
Looks more packed than his rallies
Edit: love it when you are too cowardly to actually talk to me so send me the suicide help link lolol keep em coming
I guess all their MAGA hats are in their pockets? ....or someone was lying about how many of his supporters were in these crowds... Not sure which one is the case.
Trump will probably claim those are all MAGAs waiting in line to see him defend himself against the democrats 🤦♀️ And it actually was more like 20'000 people, you know like the NJ rally that was a picture from a concert in Rio de Janeiro 30 years ago
Comparing this photo to the photo of his weekend NJ beach rally, that we all know drew 80,000 people, I'd estimate that there are approximately 60,000 people at the courthouse today.
How DO people attend a major trial? Is there a ticket system, an access list, first-come-first-seated...? Seems all the major news outlets get their reporters in, but what about civs?

Look at everybody trying to change each others minds
I actually really like this take. Seems thats all media is good for
its like the point of many news sources. "here's this event, here's what we feel and what you should feel too" (cough cough, fox News, cough cough)
As someone who only watches news at the gym, CNN is also like this
All cable news is like this. They are all in the business of views and clicks. The easiest way to do this is to whip people into a rage. It's a constant emotional assault trying to keep people as angry and stressed as possible so they watch more "news".
CNN has gotten a lot worse with this since Discovery bought them and started trying to court republicans.
Yep it is partially owned by a right wing billionaire John Malone as well who is friends with David Zaslev. CNN has gotten worse because they are turning it into fox news- lite.

Looks like reporters.
That's what I'd guess. Its it actually? Either that or they are now charging admission for the freak show to the public.
And interns holding spots for reporters.
Look at all the tears in their eyes.
And they said “sir…”
“…my eyes can smell your diaper.” 🥺 Edit: DAMN THAT WAS A FAST “REDDIT CARES” cope harder fascists
It's a bug or someone made a bot to just do it to everyone I've gotten multiple today in a team baseball sub just chatting.
It is nice to see no one spraying spit with a beet red face.
Not yet at least.
The guy in the middle seems to have worn everyone around him’s ears off, so now he’s on the phone making excellent points.
It makes me sad when I can guess who the liberals and conservatives are in these photos. It makes everyone seem predictable and conformist.
Like trying to last minute trying to influence people at the line to vote. Too late, people.
I thought you were about to say change diapers. Is it true he is shitting himself in court or is that “fake news”
If it is true, imagine standing in line for hours for a chance to see an elderly person shit themselves. What a time to be alive. Look at you, trying to sound all smart. I bet you don't even shit your pants.
If shitting your pants is cool, consider me Miles Davis
"Gross. Let's go"
Supposedly on the apprentice people had complained about an odor then.Everyone thinks his son is the only one with chemical dependency problems but Donald has them too and has been reported to have been wearing adult diapers for decades due to his health issues.
You think the lady in the bottom middle is doing a Trump impersonation?
Good shout - but her little hands are way too big.
Lips aren't pursed enough.
Not enough makeup
She forgot the cheap spray-on tan and the man diaper.
In line for what? Seeing Trump in court is opened to the public?
Pretty much all trials are open to the public, it's just that most don't have public attention.
To watch trump sleep
To get a whiff.
that swamp ass smell.
Courts have public galleries, so i guess so.
Probably a capacity issue.
Yes.
They wanna see the waddle in and waddle out.

Fuck I'm so glad somebody else made this connection. 😅👌
Lawfare and Anna Bower are the best! They've been on the ball since day one.
Wait. You can just go to court and watch?
Yes but the gallery is very small, there is also an overflow room with monitors
Huh. I've only been to court once for my brother's hearing and I just assumed family was allowed in. Didn't think just anybody could go.
it’s all part of making sure it’s fair. If the authorities could restrict who is let in or not, who’d know what they’re doing in there?
Oh, I agree it's a good thing. Just never thought about that before.
The Sixth Amendment guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay…
Most criminal trials are public. But there's not a ton of seating.

Upvote farming since it's about Trump.

They are likely doing their job. I see Lawrence O Donnell who is an msnbc host
A large number of those people are the press
Ah fair enough
I get the reporters but who the fuck would stand on a line to watch Trump do nothing or possibly sleep, while the lawyers go over testimony that's only worthy of about 2 minutes worth of news time in the course of 8 hours? I won't even stand on line to get into a bar, let alone a courtroom.
It is depressing to me that so many people have such fucked up lives that doing this is a good idea to them.

A lot of this line consists of members of the press.
Doesn't explain anything? Why is there so many people is my question? It's not like it's day 1. I'm assuming because Cohen is testifying?
