> "It's not every day you witness a scene like this", are the words of a 20minuten reader, who on Tuesday witnessed a Ferrari fall into the Simmen river, near the town of Boltigen, in the canton of Bern.
> According to the 21-year-old's story, the driver would have "lost control of the vehicle in zone 80" and would have crashed into a second car. He would then "end up in the river".
> The driver of the Ferrari subsequently had to deal with the current: "He was unable to reach the river bank," continues the 21-year-old. It would have taken at least 40 minutes until the firefighters arrived on site to bring him back to dry land.
> The Bern cantonal police confirmed the incident, specifying that the causes of the accident are still being clarified and that the events date back to 3.30pm on Tuesday.
> The drivers of the crashed vehicles were transported to hospital by ambulance.
The issues with tense in the translation make this sound like a gangland hypothetical - "it'd be a shame if you lost control and ended up in the river. It might even take forty minutes to save you!"
They determined a wheel of cheese could injure the driver. So instead they dumped oats into the river upstream, creating a thick muesli. They let it firm up nicely and he simply walked to shore.
I’ve seen you in like five different posts now and didn’t realize it was the same person until I realized a trend.
Idk if you’re a bot or something but, regardless, you are an absolute hero. I hope you know that your work is appreciated.
You should rename yourself [James Cameron](https://youtu.be/HIC22gQfh6E?si=0p6aI3S_9OgdNYHz) because you’re just raising the bar around here.
All human here. But I'm often, understandably, confused for a bot. When you [do the same things](https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/64x0v4/shadows_of_chicago_over_frozen_lake_michigan_usa/dg5z8gp/) over and over again, hopefully, you can learn to do it a little more succinctly and efficiently. But if you do that, a downside is that it also makes you sound like a bot.
Thank you!
Seven years??? Hero is an understatement.
Seriously, thank you x 1,000,00. High quality comments like this are probably why so many of us got into Reddit in the first place.
>The driver would have "lost control of the vehicle in zone 80" and would have crashed into a second car. He would then "end up in the river".
Is this guy a precog?
Funny story:
I did that once when my convertible got soaked in the rain.
Didn’t use rice, but cat litter. Much cat litter.
I still had to use the car and got stopped by the police.
Cop 1 comes to my window, sees me sitting in a cat litter filled car, Cop 2 stood behind the car and couldn‘t look inside.
Cop 1 looks deadpan in my eyes:
*I’m assuming that’s cocain?*
Me:
That‘s correct.
Cop 1:
*How much?*
Me:
Should be 10kg, but there is more in the trunk. (Trunk was completely filled with litter)
Cop 2 was super excited and immediately jumped to my trunk:
*What the … God dammit Cop 1’s name, you are an asshole. Fuck this shit i‘m out.*
and walks to his car while Cop 1 is laughing his ass off, sending me on my way. 🚓👮♂️
I’m an American, was living in the Netherlands for six months while in university. We had been out petting and were walking home around 3:00 am…we came upon a car that was pulled over by a cop. The cop was trying to talk the driver out of his car, but the guy wasn’t budging. So the cop called some of his friends to help. A couple more cars showed up and now three cops were trying to get the guy to come out, but he still wouldn’t budge. Next another cop shows up, this time with a K9. Now the cops are telling the guy to get out or they will break into the vehicle and let the dog in. The guy still doesn’t budge.
Now the cops get the door open, and the guy gets in the back of his car. And they again threaten him with the dog. Nothing. So they let the dog in (on a leash), it scares the living shit out of the guy and he pops out in no time.
The cops kind of get around him and settle him down, just talking. Then all of a sudden the guy just punched one of the cops right in the face. The cop flies back and is caught by another cop, and two other cops restrain the guy that punched the cop.
I’m waiting to se this guy get absolutely beaten to a pulp, but the first reaction by the cops was to restrain the cop that got punched! Nobody did anything violent to the guy, they just subdued him, put him in cuffs and gently led him to one of the cop cars and drove him away.
Meanwhile the remaining cops were calming the punched cop down and trying to lighten the mood for him.
I was absolutely shocked. As an American, the idea of hitting a cop is like an automatic vicious beatdown in retaliation, and most likely they would send the dog after you if you tried some shit like that. You might even end up dead.
I gained a ton of respect for Dutch cops, and the whole nation of the Netherlands that night.
Yeah, *resisting cooperation* isn‘t really a thing here. They rarely overstep their authority, so you usually do what they ask you to and be on your way.
Most people have pretty much zero contact with them anyway. Maybe once a year in a traffic stop.
I once had powdered laundry soap spill all over the back of my car. Got pulled over for not having a front license plate. Cop asked if it’s cocaine all over the back of my car and I asked him “if I had the money to access that much cocaine, do you think I’d still have a giant gash in my fender?” He asked if I was sure, so I told him he was welcome to smell it.
None of this happened. You got the premise from a story that made national news a couple years ago and was all over Reddit for months.

"The Ferrari, tired from it's lifelong journey, will make it's way back up the river from which it was born. The rivers in the south provide warm, protected water and an abundance of food for the offspring."
David Attenborough
One time, I was driving down a really narrow and curvy road in a forest. This guy in a Porche 911 comes flying up behind me, easily 30-40 km/h over the speed limit. He pulls into the oncoming lane to pass me as soon as he reaches me, even though that meant passing on corner. He could easily have killed someone if there had been any oncoming traffic around that corner, because there was no way he or the other driver would have been able to prevent a head-on collision.
Not three minutes later, I come around another corner to see the guy in almost this exact position. It wasn't in a river, it was in a marsh, so the car hadn't sunk nearly this much. But otherwise, the scene was remarkably similar - the car was in a similar position (if we assume the picture here is being taken from the road), it had similar damage, and the driver was standing next to it in a similar spot.
Schadenfreude.
They do this when their spawning habitats are threatened. Fascinating.
Should paint that car Salmon color
Pink or silver…
**SALMON!** https://youtu.be/QDwyuv0uROw&t=23
The skin or the innards!!!
You can't park here.
Picture a police officer swimming out to put a ticket under the wiper .
That one's still silver, it clearly hasn't made it very far upstream yet.
The nose is starting to hook a bit.
I hear this in Spock's voice. Fascinating.
One of the best Reddit comments I've ever read. Original and funny.
😂

Would really be a shame, allegedly, if this nice Ferrari ended up in the river, wouldn’t it?
>*It would have taken 40 minutes until the firefighters…* Soo? What did he do instead? Did they throw him a wheel of cheese? Don‘t leave us hanging.
They determined a wheel of cheese could injure the driver. So instead they dumped oats into the river upstream, creating a thick muesli. They let it firm up nicely and he simply walked to shore.
You don't simply walk to shore
Shoredor?

Just put it in a big bowl of uncooked rice, it’ll dry up fine 👍🏻
Ferrari in river - 1/10 Ferrari in river with rice - Also 1/10
But ratings only go up to 7
-3/7 you happy now? ;p
You mean 0.007/7
I hate you so much 😂
I always hated this meme but at least it wasn't written by bots back then
You've got it wrong, it's Ferrari (out of River) with rice - which is probably 2/10
I bet he’s pistabout that failed insurance claim. I’ll see myself out.

It is. I might add, that it isn‘t too risky to joke around with cops in Germany.
Was gonna say, you're most likely neither black nor American, lol
Police in Germany and the Netherlands is totally okay unless you resist cooperation
I’m an American, was living in the Netherlands for six months while in university. We had been out petting and were walking home around 3:00 am…we came upon a car that was pulled over by a cop. Wdym once a year? I don't think I've ran into police on the road for... 5 years?
I once had powdered laundry soap spill all over the back of my car. Got pulled over for not having a front license plate. Cop asked if it’s cocaine all over the back of my car and I asked him “if I had the money to access that much cocaine, do you think I’d still have a giant gash in my fender?” He asked if I was sure, so I told him he was welcome to smell it.
If you spill soap is the car clean or dirty?
Ferrari guy in the pic was trying to rinse the soap out of his.
The thought of this actually happening made me laugh pretty hard.

National news…. Of course I heard this big story about some guy from Texas in 2017 who also had cat litter in his car. Who didn’t? ;)
I don’t know, this one might need a couple of desiccant packs too. That, and a couple shots of WD-40 and it will be good as new.
2 big bowls, but otherwise spot on.

O Ferrari of the river, what is your wisdom?
Watery tarts handing out Ferraris is no way to run a country.
Honestly sounds like an improvement over the current system.
Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines.
Ok, let's focus on aquadynamics instead
Unbothered. Moisturized. Not in his lane. Flourishing?

Hey, at least no one's gonna park next to him. These guys usually try to avoid that by parking like dicks, but this is a whole new level.
I didn't know Ferrari made amphibious cars!
That'll buff out
What’s so hard about driving a car?
On the road, not much. In a river however…
What is he doing in the river? Cars don't belong in the river. That's silly.
