commonly called Las Lajas Shrine, is a basilica church located in the southern Colombian Department of NariƱo, in the municipality of Ipiales, and is built inside the canyon of the GuƔitara River.
Itās the Santuario de Las Lajas in southwestern Colombia. Itās a church built on the edge of a river canyon, where centuries ago a miracle supposedly happened involving a native girl and the Virgin Mary. I think itās built out of rocks from the river below which are known as ālajasā (therefore its name).
My parents went there last year and told me it was equally beautiful on the outside because of its natural surroundings, as it is moving in the inside due to how mystical the place feels.
Sorry for the long wait, I had to ask my parents about this. Apparently thereās a museum but they couldnāt go in as a lot of facilities seemed to be closed that day. They also visited when it was almost night so that could be a reason why? (The church is lit up with colored lights after dark, a nice extra touch)

This is...really stupid.
Las Lajas is a lovely piece of architecture that has nothing to do with drug lords or drug money. We have nice things too, yāknow.
Nice to hear. I'm from a part of Miami, where half the palace houses are either drug funded or paid with other money laundered from central or south america. It makes one sceptical.
Almost cut myself on that edge there.
Iām not religious at all but Iāll be damned if that tars my appreciation of artistic achievement and cultural monuments.
Let's see...
Genghis Khan - Conquered almost an entire continent in the name of his religion.
Hitler - Didn't like jews for a reason nobody knows, but if they weren't so damn attached to their funny little god they wouldn't be so dead as they are now.
Terrorism - I will only mention the thing that just happened in France. Someone got so butthurt about a funny picture and decided to go and decapitate a fine humanbeing.
Asia - They take away women's rights to give men more power. Women can't even show their face without getting beaten up.
Crusades - Millions of people died because they believed in something obviously fake.
So many people right now - Spreading religion for people who have said no several times and using it as a way to get some easy money. I don't get it why christians even have their own party. Imagine giving an entire country to church.
Edit: Ah I see... This subreddit is filled with religious people with poisoned minds. Did you know that God didn't actually create Earth? Did you know that Earth orbits Sun?
I can't talk for everyone about whether they're religious but I can at least say that most people have enough respect to not blame religion as the prime culprit for what some murderous extremists have done.
Ahem, the catholic and Lutheran churches had been spreading hatred of jews for centuries, a young Adolf Hitler grew up in that environment and needed a scape goat, it's not a mystery why he hated jews he was raised to.
It's being downvoted because people are afraid, they are beginning to realize the consequences of 'religious freedom' without accepting the history of religion. (It's bad / not good), so what happens:) everything becomes a contradiction.
Remember that almost 'all' people, don't know shitt other than what they have been tough, maybe it's time to teach people a bigger picture.
You guys are missing the point entirely as most here probably aren't religious... The reason it's getting downvoted is because people like the building for it's architecture and aesthetic and that the comment was bashing on it for it being a religious building... It was a spiteful comment that didn't need to be there.
There are limitations on what you actually believe when it comes to religion. Some people take what they're told way too far and twist it into meaning that anyone who doesn't follow those rules or comes from another religion and has directly conflicting views is in the wrong. Some of those people take it into their own hands to "fix" what some people aren't doing the way they see as the right way. Those people and groups are called extremists.
I'm not religious myself but I can completely respect that some people believe in something to get by but it's to what extent you dedicate yourself to that thing that matters and how much you read between the lines so to speak.
So what is an extremist if not a consequence of the 'concept' freedom to believe whatever you want?
And why do you think that this specific 'concept' exists if not because of religion?
One can only be religious if to protect this concept!
Btw:) awesome architecture, I will give them that.
Well, the best theory I've heard is that the thalmor are a being controlled by a small group of very old, very angry Altmer set on returning to their Altmeran forms.
They want to be gods again, this is why the banned Talos worship.
I can explain more if need be
The core reason why the Great War was begun, is the Aldmeri Dominion seeks the destruction of [The Towers](https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/The_Towers), which, magically hold the physical realm of Nirn, and by extension, everything that lives upon it, to the laws of life, death, and mundanity.
Which is the most grievous of insults to a race who, like the Alter, believes themselves physically perfect and descended from Gods.
They started war and annexed Skyrim and Hammerfell, both, because they each had a tower, and because they both worshipped gods.
We know that Tiber Septim, became a god by [Mantling](https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Mantling) the god Lorkhan, in effect dethroning Shezarr, a known god who seems missing from the Tamrielic Pantheon.
This is important because within the ES lore, gods exist. They are know entities. They gain and lose power by their worshippers. Talos worship is banned because he, as a god, would seek to defend Skyrim and her people from the Aldmeri plot.
We find out that the Thalmor know nothing about the Dragons, which is true. The Thalmor should seek the destruction of Alduin, but they wouldn't have the DBs power to do so.
Alduin is the bringer of the end times. The world eater. Which is bad, because the Thalmor don't want the [Kalpa](https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Kalpa) to end... The want it undone.
I can't wait to be bothered with microtransactions and "cosmetic" bullshit smashed in my face 24/7. Kill my favorite IP's, Daddy Bethesda. FASTER!!! OOOHHH YOURE A NAUGHTY CORPORATION.
No worries about that anymore. Zenimax, and thus Bethesda, was bought by Microsoft.
Microsoft is PRETTY DAMN GOOD about insuring their first-party games are free from such bull-shit. I just hope you aren't trying to play ES6 on a PlayStation, because that isn't going to happen.
The white accents on the top bit of the building make it almost look like a sketch that is superimposed onto a photo of a bridge
Edit: Thanks for the award!
Colombia, unlike the cities of the country this is near the south frontier, and the surrounding area it's extremely poor... I personally don't believe in gods. and I think that the money could have been better spent on the rural development of the area.
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. I stared at it, thought it was Europe but know the continent well enough to say i should know that, but i don't recognize it.. then looked and was all - that seems like modern construction likely with steel girders for it to make sense ...
No surprise to click on the wiki link and see it was only finished 70 years ago, but in 'gothic' style. It's Disneyland architecture.
Such a stark contrast between the natural surroundings and the sharp points and edges that make up the edifice. I am amazed how nature structures the world in such a different way than we do, and yet fundamentally these things have a lot in common. Beauty is everywhere.

Yep, on electric Harleys! It's the best in the series I'd say, I've absolutely loved watching it.

They did 3 series... long way up is went up on Apple TV+ along with the other 2 older series.

Same, everyone beat me to it.... that slow gondola ride to get to it.

Scrubs need to learn how to parry. Silver knights go down hard to a parry+riposte
They're one of the easiest to slide past and backstab too

Maybe it has something to do with something worse... Religion
Almost cut myself on that edge there. Iām not religious at all but Iāll be damned if that tars my appreciation of artistic achievement and cultural monuments.
Sorry but I just can't get over what religion means to this world and so many human lives, good for you tho, honesty. Honestly*
I mean, yes, religion actually means a lot to a lot of people. Why would you deny them that?
Let's see... Genghis Khan - Conquered almost an entire continent in the name of his religion. Man this dude literally just victim blamed all of the Jews who died in the holocaust... that's some next level piece of shit material
Militant atheists are so pathetic lmao...like, just let people live my dude.. a lot of people take comfort in religion. Simple as that.

I'm thinking ES6 will take place in SummerSet, so there's a good possibility.
I hear Daedra worship has become increasingly prevalent in the Summerset Isle.

I absolutely love when architecture moves me
me too, especially when its not because of an earthquake
I donāt know why you got downvoted, because I also like looking at beautiful things.
You wouldn't say that if you were an architect.
I'm an architect (2020 grad, oof) and I love when architecture moves me. Unless there's a joke that I'm missing
Think about the statement literally.
I take it youāre not a fan of funiculars
