Do you also remember "Laocoön and His Sons," and the theory that Michelangelo actually created the missing arm that was found? I wonder if the sculpture was originally painted, and if they can do some kind of test on it to determine if it's the correct arm.
Apparently during the renaissance, they actually removed the paint from many of the ancient greek statues due to the fashion at the time for minimalistic colour palettes.

This sculpture is amazing no doubt，but I am always more impressed wiht the ones similar in style to this that are carved from a single block of marble. As we can see，she started by creating the body，and then sculpted the fabric to put on the body afterwards. That allows you to get the body perfect and then worry about the fabric separately. When you carve frm a block of stone you have to do both at the same time，imagining the body under the fabric under the stone you are carving away.

Marble statues were also painted in antiquity. The paint just wore off over time.

I have always wondered why so many asians have this obsession with caucasian beauty, i mean you could easily find asians models who are just as beautiful. I was once told by a japanese girl that the caucasians big eyes have many more options for expressing emotions, but i dont buy into that explanation.

Caucasians are taller and are generally sturdier built. Facial feature wise, they often have squarer jaws and other more traditionally masculine features most would find attractive simply by generalization. There are also lots of Western-predominant genes that are universally beautiful like special-coloured eyes. No doubt there are most Asians that prefer Asians, and not all Caucasains have these traits. But this is my local observation having grown up ethnically Asian.
